Pros: Big, Glitzy, Amazing, Lots of Options, 3 casinos, Tons of slots & tables, Fine Dining Cons: Crowded and Pricey
It used to be the forgotten step-sister of the Foxwoods Resort/Casino and now, through some major expansions, Mohegan Sun is giving Foxwoods a run for its money and at least in my eyes, has surpassed Foxwoods as the destination for gaming in eastern ...
Pros: Lots of variety, shopping, great contemporary design, redeeming points for gas Cons: Somewhat small, slow earning rewards points, hotel prices, smoke
As you may be able to tell by my Foxwoods Casino review, I am certainly a gambler. For those of us in New England, there is another option for gambling other than Foxwoods and that is Mohegan Sun. The way I distinguish ...
Pros: Very Clean, Lots of Shops, Great Gambling, Lots of Restaurants, Good Concerts Cons: No Seating, Crowds, Prices, bad food
Mohegan Sun Casino is located in Uncasville Connecticut. It is well known for it's gambling and its magnificant hotel. However, there is a lot more to do at the Mohegan Sun for those who want a break from gambling. One of the best things about Mohegan ...
Pros: Odds seemed good, mostly friendly staff, good way to kill a few hours... Cons: Cocktail waitress was spawn of Satan, confusing to navigate....
I am not a casino person. Casinos represent two things I generally try and avoid: large groups of people and negative cash flow. I am, however, a dutiful daughter. Thus in the process of visiting my mother I found myself standing in the big, tacky lobby...
Pros: cozy atmosphere, free live entertainment Cons: smaller gaming area, no smoke free area
The Mohegan Sun was the second native Indian run casino in Connecticut and therefore has always been in the shadow of its biggest competitor, Foxwoods Resort and Casino. But this second fiddle has some big plans on the horizon.
Pros: Beautiful decor, great buffet, brewpub. Cons: You can lose serious money if you aren't careful.
Don't be misled by my opinion of casinos: I'm not singling Mohegan out in particular. Casinos, all casinos, are in business to keep your money, not to give you theirs. Obviously, they have to give some back or no one would walk through the doors. In the...
Pros: Lots of fun and quite relaxing! Cons: Can be habit forming if you're not careful!
I've been to this casino several times and it's a great place to go for some relaxation and fun! It's located in Uncasville, Connecticut off Route 2A on Mohegan Sun Boulevard and the area is beautiful.
Pros: If you live in Connecticut, you might as well go and experience it. Cons: Limited Wolf Den seating.
I have to admit, I have very little experience with casinos, so I have a rookie's perspective. I cannot compare Mohegan Sun with other casinos because of my limited experience. Given my background, here are my impressions and a few tidbits that may be...
Pros: Lots of Different Games to Play Cons: Going Home Broke!
Mohegan Sun is filled with fun, fun, and more fun!!! The first time that we went, I was overwhelmed by all of the hustle and bustle of the casino. It didn't take long for me to find my spot in amongst the crowd.
Pros: Outstanding artwork though out the facility Cons: Too many people
This is estetically one of the loveliest casinos in the US. It is artistically pleasing and so well done, that it is almost museum like quality. You hardly notice that you are in a casino until you hear the awful sounds of the jingle jangle that can only...
Pros: Win or Lose....A Very Fun Day! Cons: Can be costly if you lose!
Nestled in the mountains in CT....it's a bit of a hike to get there....BUT!...worth the trip! Mohegan Sun is a beautiful place! They have a very rustic decor with an Indian flavor, very warm and comfortable! It is after all, on an Indian Reservation....
Pros: Easy to get to, interesting Native American design Cons: If you're not careful or not lucky, gambling can be a real bummer.
It seems like nearly everyone has heard about Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut, but you may not have heard of the other huge Native American casino in New England. Mohegan Sun, in the land of the wolf people, is the other casino, and it’s located...
Mohegan Sun is a very pretty casino. Unlike its mammoth neighbor, Foxwoods Mohegan Sun doesn't yet have its own hotel, though that is in the midst of construction right now and will be 37 stories tall when...
Pros: fun, especially when everything else is closed Cons: doesn't cater well to the under 21 crowd
I figured I might as well review the casino, since it's in my hometown (which is Uncasville, by the way, not Norwich as it says above). It went up a few years ago in the quiet little town that I have called home for nearly 22 years, and it's slowly...
Pros: Small, cozy and enjoyable Cons: Smoke and crowds
I have been to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun several times and really prefer Mohegan Sun. It is smaller, friendlier and less "glitzy". It is close to Foxwoods....Mohegan is very easy to get to and the parking is easy and not a long walk. There...
Pros: Close to NYC, beautiful atmosphere, low minimum tables Cons: They don't comp as well as AC
I'm a craps player - I like to take frequent, short trips to the casino...so obviously - distance is a HUGE factor for me. If you are leaving from Manhattan (or Long Island) - Mohegan is the closest casino to travel to. My usual travel time is about 2...
Pros: Winning percentage and support staff Cons: Too close for comfort
I am a very experienced slot player primarily at the Mohegan Sun and would like to share what I believe are the best and worst features. On the plus side, the support staff is extremely friendly and helpful whether its bringing drinks or merely...
Pros: Size, ease of getting in and out logistically Cons: Nowhere to eat
I've been to Mohegan Sun several times. Mohegan Sun is much, much smaller than Foxwoods. The good thing about it: Less lines! (For cashing in chips, etc...) Mohegan Sun is pretty inside - the decor that is. I find the staff is warm and friendly. ...
Pros: easy access, "free" gas Cons: smaller, louder
Mohegan Sun, while smaller than Foxwoods, is so much better. Access to Mohegan is one of their biggest assets, from the access road off the highway to the ferry landing, which delivers players from NY. Having direct access from the highway is nice, no...
Pros: the food, the safe atmosphere, the building itself, location Cons: it's not for big-time gamblers
Me, a virgin gambler, finally gave into my brother who had been praising the wonderful cheap buffett Mohegan Sun had to offer. I was interested in the money, but was pleasantly surprised with their buffett selections including a soft serve machine,...
Pros: You can win a lot of money Cons: You can lose a lot of money
I lived in the great state of Connecticut (state motto: you can never have TOO much traffic) for a couple of years back in the mid nineties (gee...that was only a couple of years ago..how come it is such a blur?). As near as I can tell, Connecticut...
Pros: Atmosphere, buffet, gas station, food court Cons: Too few gaming tables
Mohegan Sun is my personal preference to going to Foxwoods Resort. The atmosphere and my record of winning (or at least breaking even) has always been better. The downfall is the few number of gaming tables available.
Pros: So easy to get to, friendly roulette wheels, loose slots. Cons: Still noisy, but not nearly as noisy as Atlantic City or even Foxwoods.
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
Mohegan Sun, so easy to get to, Mohegan Sun. Well, when I turned 21, I went to Foxwoods REsort and Casino on the lovely Pequot reservation in southern Connecticut. My first reaction was...
I'd like to start this review by addressing the issue of "tact." If you have ever stepped foot in another casino, you know what to expect: carpeted walls, a Price-Is-Right color scheme, tasteless decor. This is absolutely NOT the case...
Pros: cozy and intimate Cons: parking stinks, peak times too crowded
I have been to many many casinos in my years (and i am not that old ha!!)
I really love Mohegan Sun. Its smaller then alot of other casinos, especially Foxwoods and some of the ones in Las Vegas. It has a very friendly feel to it. For some...
Pros: comfortable atmosphere, possibility of winning Cons: not enough quarter slots
I have to admit that this casino is one of the most beautiful that i have ever been to! It's not flashy or glitzy like most casinos that i have been to. It has a most cozy atmosphere. There are 4 entrances to the casino, one for each season of the...
Pros: Good Atmosphere, Friendly Staff, Easy to get to, Good Payouts Cons: None
Mohegan Sun has an atmosphere about it that is welcoming the minute you walk in the door. It is much smaller than its neighbor, Foxwood, but has a great assortment of machines that are easily found without having to wander from room to room. The...
Pros: Nice place to go to Cons: Watch out for the slots that short change you
I have been to Foxwood Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino many times.
The drive from my Massachusetts home is about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
My wife and I enjoy Mohegan Sun because it is friendlier, with the atmosphere, enjoyable.
We believe that...
Pros: Excellent ambiance and seemingly loose slots. Their player's club rewards! Cons: it's size, but it's growing...
Mohegan Sun is one of the greatest places to go spend money and come out feeling like your day wasn't wasted. The plus column for this place greatly outweighs the minus column.
To start, the Mohegan Sun is even easier to get to than the other CT...
Pros: great location and good payout on slots Cons: no more Bingo!!
After 6 years of going to Foxwoods, we decided to check out the Mohegan Sun casino, located about 15 minutes past Foxwoods, right off CT I-395.
We went on a bright Sunday morning, after passing Foxwoods we started looking for signs, noticing how...
Pros: Great to explore and gamble. And there's no smoking ban. Cons: The driving distance sucks.
Me and a friend went to Mohegan Sun in Uncasville Connecticut to watch an intimate music concert. The musician will not be named here, but she was a piano player. Since it was a day trip, we did not book any room at the hotel, which I must note is ...
Pros: new atmosphere, variety of shops and restaurants, very friendly staff, great arena Cons: poor comping system, not geared to gambling enthusiasts versus nearby casino, no mid-size entertainment venue
I love gambling. I'll admit that. I love table games; I love the thrill of gambling, the dealers, the games, and the people.
Mohegan Sun, located in Uncasville, CT, has come a long way. Once a tiny casino that looked frail versus it's only...
After having a baby a year ago, my husband and I don't get to spend much quality time together anymore. We enjoyed the action of Las Vegas before the baby but we did not want to be away for that long so we decided on a one-night stay at Mohegan Sun ...
Pros: Nice hotel and decor, variety of restaurants, and lots of gaming choices. Cons: The slot machines just do not pay out.
I really like the design of this casino. The sheets of patterned glass beads slung across the ceiling are beautiful and well made. The mosaics in the hotel lobby are stunning. The glass theme is fascinating for someone who appreciates the difficulty ...
Pros: A nice boat ride same payouts as NJ Cons: to small no hotel
A co-worker of mine asked me to take a trip with her to a casino. Great I thought a trip to Atlantic City. But she had something else in mind. Mohegan Sun in Norwich Connecticut. Okay I told her I would go. I never been there but I do love to gamble...
Pros: Great extra giveaways every month Cons: Could get out of hand going so much!
When I travel to CT I must always make a stop in at Mohegan Sun and try my luck! My in-laws live only minutes away, thus making this possible quite often. Mohegan Sun is a much smaller casino than it's neighbor, Foxwoods, but it is on the grow! The...
Pros: cozy, relaxed atmosphere Cons: exterior of building not very attractive
Where can you go in Connecticut that's not too far of a trip from anywhere in state and have an afternoon of fun? To Mohegan Sun, of course. As soon as you get there, you sign up for your member card, and at each slot machine or game table you...
Pros: Growing fast and great entertainment Cons: I don't gamble
I'm not a gambler by any means, so why would I ever step into Mohegan Sun? Entertainment! I've visited this casino several times, and enjoy it every time. Though smaller than its neighbor (for size, see stats below), Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun is growing...
Pros: Relaxed, friendly, beautifully designed Cons: None
Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut is one of the friendliest casinos I have ever visited. The staff and employees are attentive and the dealers, croupiers etc. are relaxed and laid back and courteous to the players. They don't make you feel as though you...
Pros: good food, parking, friendly dealers Cons: bit of a drive for some
I have to say of all the casinos I've been to Mohegan Sun was by far the most impressive. I liked everything about: the architecture, the gambling tables, the dealers, the food and much more. I found the atmosphere to quite relaxing and enjoyable. The...
Pros: Atmosphere, Staff, fun games and great entertainment. Cons: Circular design makes it easy to lose your party.
I live in close proximity to both the Foxwoods Resort and Casino and the Mohegan Sun Casino. Even though Foxwoods is about 10 minutes closer, I always make the trek to the Mohegan Sun. The Sun Casino creates a complete experience from the moment you...
I visit Mohegan Sun several times a month. It is small, friendly and easy to get around. When they finish the new addition it may not be as easy to get around we will have to wait and see. They offer valet parking,or park yourself in a garage with easy...
Pros: Comfortable and nicely decorated. Cons: Foxwoods draws more business.
I really like the Mohegan Sun. It is located about 20 minutes from the Foxwoods, and I prefer to the "biggest casino in the world." Mohegan Sun is in the shape of a giant circle, with four sections, each representing a season. Each season is...
Pros: beating the system when you know how to Cons: "Mohegan Sun"
Ok first of all, "Mohegan Sun" is located in "UNCASVILLE", ct not NORWICH. What ass-hole messed that up, "I dunno." Second of all, I wrote an opinion about this SH_IT hole months ago and just found out that it has been...
Pros: More space and good food Cons: Not easy to find in Connecticut
Mohegan Sun was a pleasant way to spend a day of gaming. The casino is much more artistically designed than many, and the art work is a reason to go.
I enjoyed the walks to the casino. I found it to be very pleasant and loved the Indian imagery...
Pros: You will get something! Cons: Don't offer accommodation.
Most gambling site offer free food or accommodation that make easier for you to spent more money there, but Mohegan Sun will give you points that you could buy products and stuff you could buy what ever they offer.
Products like Computer, TV,...
Pros: casino decor, food, comps Cons: no hotel but coming
I felt this casino was very friendly once you come in. You dont feel intimidated when you enter. The casino has a unique decor then compared to any atantic city casino or its big brother Foxwoods. I cant wait for the expasion which they are calling...
Mohegan Sun Casino is a great place to visit. It is smaller and less congested than Foxwoods and the decor is fabulous. They have some great restaurants and entertainment. We visit there often and have always enjoyed the time spent. It is not suitable...
I've always wanted to visit a sweatlodge. Okay, so it isn't a real sweatlodge, it's a sweatlodge if Mr. Moneybags was a native American. But the decor was absolutely astounding. No matter which one of the sides you walked through, the decor was...
Pros: Great Atmosphere Cons: Not best of odds on table games
First of all, I Have been all over the country gambling in a lot of
different casino's but mohegan's one of my favorite. Some how they
have blended nature with a circular shape floor, a nightclub in the
middle with very hip entertainment...
Pros: Good Food! Cons: Rude Guards and LOW Payback!
Hi! We went with a 20 year old. He wasn't even allowed to walk around and was forced to walk around the ENTIRE CASINO (over a mile diameter) and could only stay in the shopping and fodd areas. Futhermore, when we were getting ready to leave and...
Like sex, the first time you gamble surely won't be the last! Well I may know a thing or two about Mohegan Sun, being that I live here Uncasville and I also have worked in the bloody place for 8 measly months!!! First off let me say that the decor in...
Pros: Genteel, classier than Atlantic City Cons: smaller jackpots, no-on grounds hotel
From the first time I walked through the Winter entrance I was hooked. A true lover of Slots, I found the staff to be more courteous, and far more helpful that any other casino I have been to. I go year round, the drive from New York City is part of...
Pros: Lots of restaurants, beautiful hotel. Great spa. Cons: Very smoky hotel and expensive rooms.
Stayed at Mohegan Sun for a weekend in September. The rooms are very expensive ($225 for Thurs, $275 for Friday) compared to hotel prices in other gambling cities such as Vegas or Atlantic City. The room was very clean and large with a modern look to it. ...
Pros: Rear view mirror Cons: staff, lines/waiting, decor, location, prices, food...uh, you name it
Thats putting it mildly -- seriously,
FACT 1: the $500.00 per night new years rate you would think would get you something! Not true, unless you like rooms that allow you to monitor your neighbors bathroom breaks!
FACT2: Everytime someone above or beside flushes, we hear it -- all night long. Don't be put off if you have to wait 10 minutes for the elevator, 20 for car valet, and restuarants....forget it. This ain't where the beautiful people flock...we only came for the entertainment (my fav band tonight).
When I think of all the nice places I could have spent New Years for half the money and twice the fun -- OMG! I am getting sick at my stomach...time to wake the neighbors with a fresh flush....sorry folks...if you are looking for a nice spot in the middle of absolute no where -- this ain't it! This place in the middle of absolutely nowhere SUCKS!
Pros: Intimate, dimly lit, severs are helpful and knowledgeable, flat bread appetizer is excellent. Cons: Unimpressive decor, unimpressive food, too expensive (value), cocktails MUCH too expensive. OVER-RATED.
Todd English TUSCANY is a gourmet restaurant located under the beautiful waterfall at Mohegan Sun Casino. I feel that is where the beauty ends an an over-rated, over-priced dining experience begins. The atmosphere is unimpressive, especially considering that the casino itself is artfully beautiful. That is not the real disappointment, however.. it is the food. The bottom line is that is was just "okay" which is unacceptable for the price you are paying. No salad or vegetable is offered with the entrees that are between $25.00 and $75.00. My husband ordered the Filet Mignon special, and he told me it had a texture like Pot Roast, and that he's had better at The Outback Steakhouse. I ordered a cocktail before dinner which was $11.00 !!! The same drink at Leffingwell's Wombi Rock Lounge cost $6.00. This restaurant is full of itself and is simply not worth the time or money to dine there. Do not give in to the hype. The Longhouse also located in the Casino,is upscale and actually much better. It just doesn't have a fancy Chefs name associated with it. Save your money.
Pros: If Your Looking To Lose Money Fast, Play The Slots! Cons: The Pungent Air Odor That Permeates The Entire Facility and Tight Slots.
We've been to Mohegan Sun about 50 times since it first opened. It seems the slots have been paying out less and less especially in the last couple of years. Please don't get me wrong,I'm not complaining, however I feel they should give some incentive to bring people back. Miniscule comp points as well as cocktail waitresses far and few between have taken the fun out of gambling. I would not recommend this place. It's too bad, We really liked this place when it first opened. We have had more fun and success in Vegas. Goodbye Mohegan Sun. Not Worth The Trip!
Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: The difficulty in getting a room if you're not a high roller.
I was very impressed went I went to Mohegan Sun last Sept 2004. This was my first gambling experience. I went to Atlantic City when I was younger, but nothing compares to Mohegan.
Not only do you have gambling, but you have Ultra 88 Nightclub, and other bars, and plenty of places to eat and shop.
The rooms are emalculate and the staff is very polite.
Since September I went back 4 times and Im planning my 5th. Even though Im not a high roller I love the place. I just wish it was easier to get a room.
Another great thing about my trip to Mohegan was meeting the man of my dreams ~*wink*~ He knows who he is.
