We went for a 'spiritual' reunion here as a small group of alcoholics in recovery, and had a real blast!
Even the drive to this place from the airport was awe-inspiring, as we drove deeper and deeper into the majestic setting of the Arizona landscape.
Enchantment is really a lovely place, I like the lay-out, with the main multi-level lodge and the many little separate houses which we stayed in. Very luxurious and cosy at the same time, and surprisingly affordable, especially since we got a group rate, even though we were about 10 people.
The cabins were really nice, with a living room, little kitchen and wonderfully outfitted bathrooms. Good privacy, and it's kinda spooky walking back to your cabin at night (especially after watching the movie Copy Cat!!!), you can get lost navigating the winding walkways, but that only added to the charm.
The facilities are top-notch, the gym was perfect, the beauty parlour offered some great services and massages, and also sold alot of excellent products. The pool was nice during the day, there was tennis and golf. The golf shop and the gift shop had a terrific selection.
At night we would gather on the terrace outside the main lodge, have drinks and appetizers and take in the air and the majesty of our surroundings! The food was really delicious, interesting and filling southwestern. Lunch on the terrace above the pool was also nice.
Some of the highlights of our little weekend were a long hike through the trails surrounding the hotel, visiting the art galleries in town, and my particular favorite, an evening with the resident astronomer, on the roof, with his high-powered telescope and his entertaining way of imparting knowledge. Do not miss a session with the astronomer!
Breakfast was nice in the main dining room, buffet style with seated waiter service, and Starbucks coffee in the lobby.
I can't wait to go back there! The place is extremely well-run, and they offered so many activities in their daily flyer of things to do, that a family could easily stay for 10 days without a moments boredom.
