| eh_jack's Full Review: Embassy Suites Washington, D.C. |
The Embassy Suites Downtown, a four star hotel, that can easily become a four and a half or even a five star hotel. This hotel offers three different kinds of suites, ranging from a single to a business class. We had a one king size bed in our single suite which was plenty of big for the two of us. We visited the US Capitol for three nights, and four days while a symposium & convention was going on in the city, from August 18 to the 20. It was not the host hotel but one of the other hotels offering a
special deal to any of the attendees of this particular convention.
The first impression as we walked through the door was, WOW! The atmosphere in the interior of the hotel was amazing, plants, trees, a waterfall, a glass ceiling and it had glass elevators overlooking this magnificent area. As you can see in the picture above is that this amazing area is in the center of the hotel with the suites wrapping all around enclosing this wonderful socializing area. After checking in you proceed to your room by going on one of three elevators that has glass on one side to see the beautiful view below.
By looking at the interior of the hotel you can make a well educated guess on what your suite will look like. Inside your room you will walk into a "living room" which has a round marble table that seats four, a nice sized television, an armchair, a couch [which pulled out to a queen sized cot] and a coffee table.
In the hallway leading to the bedroom and bathroom you will find a little sink area, this is part of the kitchenette, which is behind two closet doors. This little kitchen has a coffeemaker, coffee, tea, a microwave, and a fridge.
The bathroom is next which is very stylish, it has marble countertop & tiles, with a tub/shower combination, a toilet of course [the toilet paper is a nice shade of pink] and there are plenty of towels, face cloths etc. to use. There is no shortage of mirrors nor light in this bathroom.
Then you proceed to the bedroom which is the same size as the "living room." It contained a king size bed with two night tables on each side and two lamps above the bed as well. In front of the bed was a large television in an armoire, with one armchair to one side and a place to put on makeup [had a mirror, sink & stool] on the other.
Some little things that were included in the room was, a hair drier, alarm clock, two phones, stationary, mints, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and other toiletries that were available upon request. Ice, laundry and cola are all available on each floor to all suites in a centralized room near the elevators. Go to the hotels website and you will a picture of the three types of rooms they have available.
Over all it is a great hotel, friendly staff, great atmosphere, all at a reasonable price. It is good for a business traveler, because it is located in a well established business area, but if you are looking for a hotel near the main attractions, you will need to find a ride of some sort. Guided tours is a great way to see the attractions of the capitol, and is a lot more informative than doing it yourself, and a few on these do stop at this hotel [at least they did when we were there].
They also have free continental breakfasts and free cocktails in the evening to anyone staying in the hotel. If I had to go back, I would not change anything about the hotel, to me it was a perfect hotel, even the maids were excellent at cleaning the rooms. I recommend this hotel to anyone, of any age, from any where, especially business travelers, and even tourists who want a quality and comfortable stay while they are away from their home.
