| zoeyburger's Full Review: Motel 6 |
If you have read my review ‘A Gift to Snack On’ then you know that I have a nephew in college. Jeff attends Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is about a 4 1/2-hour drive from where I live.
Recently Jeff’s mom (Carolyn) and I went to visit Jeff in Tacoma. We stayed part of our trip in the Tacoma Motel 6. The other time we stayed with cousins of mine that really opened their home up to us.
At about 10:00 p.m. we picked Jeff up at his dorm room. We hadn’t made any reservations for a motel. Tacoma has a motel row so we didn’t worry about finding a motel on short notice.
We headed down motel row and noticed that the motels all located on this road were very expensive. We were on a small budget so decided to make a turn and head for the local Motel 6.
We entered the Motel 6 and were greeted by a very nice young woman. The young lady gave us our key and off we went to unload the car.
We entered the room and did a quick once over to make sure it would meet our needs. There was 2 queen size beds, soap, ice bucket, cups, oh no! Only 2 towels. There are three of us and only two towels. It was late and none of us wanted to go back to the front desk. We decided that one of us would use the two hand towels and the other two would use the regular towels. Problem solved.
After unloading the car we decided it was time to get some ice and something to drink. At the end of the building was a room loaded with the machines. Pop machines, ice machines, junk food machines, wash machine and a dryer. A little expensive, but it was nice to have so many choices.
When we finally stopped running in and out of our motel room, we locked the door for the night. There were three different kinds of locks on our door. I felt this was a very good thing and I never once felt nervous about our safety during our stay.
I found my bed to be very comfortable. It was soft and kind of went into the middle just a little, but I was sleeping by myself so it was fine. The pillows were small and flat, but again I had the bed by myself so I used both pillows to make one. Both of these would probably be a problem if two people were sharing this bed though.
The bathroom was small. The door barely misses the toilet when you closed it. The shower was the normal size, but it took about 5 minutes before the water got hot. My shower was almost over before I got hot water. It was clean, except for the mold in the corners and on one wall.
As I went to check us out of our room I happened to notice a lady walking up the driveway and past the office. This lady had 4-inch go-go boots, a short- short skirt, and a fuzzy white coat on. She walked passed the front desk and over to a room. She knocked on the door and a head poked out. The door opened and the lady went in. I believe this must be the room service.
Now I bet you are wondering just what a night’s stay cost us. Motel 6 rates are as follows. One adult is $44.99. A second person is $6.00 more and $3.00 for each person after that. Not too bad of a price. I don’t know what the room service costs though.
If you are on a small budget Motel 6 just may be the motel for you, but if you can afford more I recommend another motel.
Motel 6 will leave the light on, but is it a red light? Huh!
