RE: POISONED PET TREATS

I was trying to share some of my comments on the chicken treats, however, I am so angry to read your post.

I am a Chinese, from HK, I lived in CA for more than 10 years, I love the country, but I also love HK, and I love China.

From your ignorant words I can see you have not been in China, I do not want to waste my time, but just like to say, you are totally reasonless. After read your last post, I had doubt with all your posts, and your motivation. I lost interesting to share any of my comments in regard to the dog treats, instead, I am so angry.

Please, do not force me to give you ugly words.

RE: BESTRO'S vs WAGGIN TRAIN

Are you working for Waggin Train ? This treat needs to be recalled immediately, why did you say "I am sorry..."

Tell me if you want me to buy a new dog, continue to feed Waggin Train, not Bestro's.

Will be interesting if you could share with me the comfortable conversation between you and Waggin Train, or advise me who you are talking to, and the phone#.

CONSUMERS DO HAVE THE POWER

The way I see it is that right now- at this point in time- I and obviously too many others fed our beloved pets these Chicken Jerky Treats by Bestro AND We all tell the same exact story- our pets either died or became terribly ill. All during the same or similar time period. It's no coincidence.

Rather than make political comments and debate the facts, most of which are still to come, I think we can all agree that there is a serious and dangerous problem with the product. WALMART AND THE MANUFACTURER AND ANY OTHER ENTITY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THIS PRODUCT WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

My other point was that after knowing what you know today at this point in time- to continue to feed your pet this garbage is risking the life of your pet. i.e mssmith above. Why would you take that risk?

We are all mad!!!! We are the consumers and we have the power in numbers to make changes. Our goals are motivated by taking care of our families. The goal of corporate america is financial.

Believe me, when it comes time to put the facts in front of a Court, a Judge or a jury, the facts will speak for themselves, but it won't bring back our lost family members, but maybe just maybe save a few from having to go through this or go through this again.

Waggin' Train chicken jerky strips

We have been giving our 2 dogs the Waggin' Train brand of chicken jerky strips for over a year now. And yes, getting those treats is the highpoint of their day. I have just sealed the one open bag shut and have put that bag and the new one that hasn't been opened in freezer bags and stored them in the freezer. There is no way that I would keep giving those treats to our dogs until I know for certain that they are okay. If anyone wants to keep playing Russian roulette with their dog's health and life, that is their prerogative to do so ... but I won't do it with mine. There are many, many different kinds of treats that my dogs will enjoy just as much and that's what they will be getting (even if I have to make chicken jerky strips myself). Why would anyone even want to risk it? I would certainly rather throw away two bags of treats than have to watch one or both of my dogs suffer and/or die.

Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders

I find it strange that my beloved friend died one night of a heart attack after consuming 4 chicken strips. Made in CHINA, go figure.

Four Chicken Strips

Your comments are not amusing.
How could you be so cruel & heartless?
Is your head the size of a green pea?

This is a serious matter- Many of us have spent endless hours in vet hospitals watching over their dog- some have ended up with the loss of a furry family members, over the course of the past month.

Grow up or get off.

bestros chicken strips

Thanks to this web-site we discovered what has made our dog Cheerio so sick and put him into renal failure. Since we starting feeding him these deathly chicken strips, purchased from Walmart approximately 1 month ago, we have incurred over $3,000 in vet bills and that amount will continue to rise to keep his kidneys functioning and keep him alive. On a daily basis my wife and I have to administer fluids intravenously to Cheerio.
Both the manufacturer of this product, Shanghai Bestro Enterprises Inc. and Walmart should be held accountable for this. Neither has done an adequate job to notify the public of this recall!
We obviously are going to seek reinbursement for our medical expenses from Bestro or Walmart or both.
Anyone who can help us to make the proper contacts and rattle the right cages would be greatly appreciated.
It almost sounds to me that a class action suit may need to be created so that all pet owners who have suffered such as ourselves are satisfactorily compensated.

RE: bestros chicken strips

We have been going through the exact same thing with our 2 1/2 year old Cavalier King Charles. After spending 4 days in the hospital on IV she is now home and we have to give her fluids under her skin each day. Her diagnosis is acute kidney failure due to the introduction of a toxin. She was completely healthy prior to eating 1 1/2 bags of bestros Chicken jerky Strips. Can I ask you what you dogs blood, urea, nitrogen (BUN) and creatitine levels are? These are the important numbers from the kidney function blood test. Our dogs are BUN- 114, creatitine- 2.9. What did your vet say is the prognosis for your dog?

I have already filed a claim with Walmart and have been in contact with Shanghai China, the manufacturer of these treats. If you want their contact information, please email me at fitzgb0@ci.bridgeport.ct.us.

bestro treats and kidney HELP site

I am the neighbor of a lady who has two dogs in toxic renal failure. See my prior post.
It appears now each day, there is a new reported case of a dog who ate these bestro chicken jerky treats. Both my neighbors dogs had nothing new in their diet other than these treats purchased from KMart two weeks prior to being ill. Both were in good health. Both dogs stay with other dogs regularly who are not sick. To those who doubt what is being reported keep in mind it takes time for something like this to surface. So rather than arguing with one another take the due caution since you were informed of this information by those who were less fortunate than yourselves.

more important ...if you have a dog in kidney failure please visit yahoo groups. there is an excellent forum site called k9kidney diet. Explain in detail and provide blood work and these people will help, there are two groups
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/K9KIDNEYS/
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/K9KidneyDiet/
i strongly suggest anyone whose dog has kidney issue join this list and obtain some much needed help.
you are your animals only advocate.

Please provide only suggestions which will help others on this forum as i suspect we will hear of more cases.
lets work together

wishing the best for those sick animals and their owners

KIM

RE: My pooch is sick

I've been feeding my dog the chicken jerky and duck jerky from Costco and Sams club for the past couple of years with no problem. However recently she has become ill and the vet bills just keep coming. Today as a matter of fact she is at the vet's office getting test ran.

She has had vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite. I've had a healthy happy dog for the past 7 years and other than the normal check ups nothing major was wrong with her. I know it's from those treats. I will not feed my dog anymore of them.

After reading some of the posts I checked the bag and sure enough it says it is a product of China and not for Human Consumption. Even if you dogs have not shown signs of sickness yet I still would not feed them anymore of those treats.

Just a follow up on this posting. My dog passed away a day after I posted this. She had cancer of the pancreas, spleen, and liver. DON'T feed you pets these treats!

Bestro's chicken strips

Thanks for the words of encouragement and support.
fitzgbo/Brian you inquired as to what Cheerio's blood levels were. His creatinine most recently tested at 4.6 and his B.U.N level is 104. When he initially went into renal failure his creatinine went as high as 9.0!
I never mentioned that Cheerio is only 9 mos old now! He was 8 mos old when this all started. Cheerio is a Bischon/Shizu mix. We knew that something really went awry with his kidneys as he was neutered at 7 mos and all these pre-tests, including creatnine and B.u.n levels were run then and all came back very normal. Our only hope is that because he is so young, maybe somehow his kidneys can bounce back. To be honest with you, I don't know if the vets have a prognosis at this time. They are just calling it chronic renal failure. That sounds permanent, but due to his age we can only hope he can overcome this. I wish you all the best with your King Charles of 21/2 yrs as well. It is awfully young for any dog to suffer kidney failure which is not genetic!

RE: Bestro's chicken strips

Check again with your vet. I believe the diagnosis should be acute kidney failure which is generally defined as sudden failure due to an introduction to a toxin into the urinary system. From what I have been able to research, this is a better prognosis than chronic renal failure because it can be controlled and sometimes reversed in an otherwise healthy strong animal.

It might sound strange but our dog had her first treatment using acupuncture yesterday. It seems that this may aid in the removal of toxins from, and help bring balance to the body. I was a bit skeptical but there is tons of info on the internet including medical journal reports from leading universities specializing in vet medicine. Many cases claim that BUN and creatinine levels were drastically reduced after several treatments and their pets are now stable. Might be worth a try and it is relatively inexpensive ($65) compaired to my recent vet bills. I also read that omega-3 fatty acids such as those found in fish oil supplements can reduce inflammation in the kidneys and improve blood flow. Check with your vet on that.

On a side note, my local paper has a front page article concerning these treats. I think they picked it up from the associated press but if you want to see it go to www.connpost.com
