A third map pack is Calling you up for Duty!
Here's a bit of a surprise: a third map pack for Call of Duty: World at War has been announced today. As per usual, the map pack will feature three new multiplayer maps, as well as one new zombie map for cooperative players.
With the release coming sometime in August for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, expect a $9.99 price this item.

It's a free update on the PC version, and Steam automatically downloads it for you. |

You also have to wait a few months to even be able to use the content on a PC. While console gamers will be enjoying the third map pack next month, it's PC gamers who will be awaiting the second map pack's arrival. |

I'd rather have the update sooner than later.
Each update gives me a new reason to continue playing the game. I'm already like a master at the third zombie map, being not so easy to bring down. So, I'm ready for more next month, and next month is when I'll be playing it rather than around the time that Modern Warfare 2 arrives. |

Just a reminder...
As noted in my review for Call of Duty: World at War, Map Pack 3 releases this week (on August 6th). |

Lapping the map
Has anyone else gotten the map pack yet? I've played some of the zombie map so far... which is the most insane one yet. |

I prestiged for the first time the other day, since I'll probably just end up getting rid of the game in the coming months. What about everyone else? |

Modern Warfare Not Through
For the Xbox 360 community, the first set of new maps will be available exclusively on March 30th. Unfortunately, no pricing details or availability for other platforms has been revealed for this add-on content.

RE: Modern Warfare Not Through
Interestingly, the upcoming Map Pack package will contain five maps, two of which are originally from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
I wonder if this means the older map packs are being redone or if they're being ported?

Modernizing the Wii
I'm not sure if these details would be accurate or not, but I have this image sent to me in a GameStop e-mail depicting two Wii games... The Beatles: Rockband and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
I'm estimating from this that Activision is planning on downgrading the game at some point like what was done with the first Modern Warfare. |

Black Nazis
The Nazi Zombies co-op game has been announced for inclusion in Call of Duty: Black Ops. However... the same maps that you've already played in Call of Duty: World at War are apparently what will be included in the start. Also... it's only been mentioned that having access to the zombie mode will be available through purchase of the Hardened or Prestige editions of the game (the ones that cost extra to buy).

A black day for Black Ops
Two armed robbers stole four cases of Call of Duty: Black Ops (totaling over 100 copies of the game), cash, and some game systems from a GameStop in Maryland over the weekend.

And if they were to trade them in, GameStop would only offer $25, plus 10% if they are a club member. =) |

I'm pretty sure that GameStop would give them $30 for each copy of the game. Another $10 would bring that up to $40 (if there is such a deal as that going on).
Of course, you could always call up GameStop today or tomorrow and ask how much you would get if you were to bring in a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops for trade. The person on the phone would likely be puzzled by such a question so early, but you could always say you're just asking for the sake of curiosity. |

I wrote 10 percent, not 10 bucks. Gamestop has that club thing where you pay $25/year and it gets you 10% discounts on used games plus an extra 10% on trade-in values.
Even if the game is brand spanking new, they never give more than $25-30 unless it's through some special promotion where they will give you extra only if you put it toward the purchase of something specific. |

Oh. I don't think I'm familiar with this club plan.
On the other hand, I have received $30 or more on games that were also recently released, and this wasn't during a special offer period. Times in which this has happened was on select games, such as the Grand Theft Autos or another being... well, I forget the name of the game, but I do know it wasn't something really major. |

You must have some unmotivated clerks at your GameStop store because they ask me to join their club ("Do you have a member card? Do you want one.") every time I buy something. I think a magazine subscription is included, too. |

Actually, I do have that Edge Card, is what it's called. I wasn't sure what you meant there.
When I buy games from there, they just ask if I have the card... that or I take it out soon after they call me up to the counter. |

Activision, the money wh*re
Ugh! Once again Activision is overcharging for the DLC content coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops. For $15 you'll get four new maps and one new zombie map. This is the same amount of content featured in Call of Duty: World at War, which back in early 2009 and on only cost you $10 each time they sold it.

You can also get Dead Nation for $15, and a number of other games. I know they lowered Warhawk's price to $15 too, I think. I'd have to check it out again to see if it's still at that price through the PlayStation Store. |

Call of Duty: Black Ops is the best-selling game in U.S. history
NPD has tracked that Call of Duty: Black Ops has topped the charts as the most profitable game in North America. 13.7 million units have been sold across multiple platforms.
By comparison, the #2 best-selling game is Wii Play with the Wii remote and #3 is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Black Ops Escalates DLC
The second map pack for Black Ops comes out on May 3rd for Xbox Live (and probably early June for everyone else).
Called "Escalation," the DLC will feature four new multiplayer maps and one new zombie board known as Survive. No pricing has been revealed, but you can bet the asking fee will be $15.

the zombie map is very fun. It's huge and there's a lot of stuff to do on it. On the other hand, the multiplayer maps are okay, but they are not as varied as the last map pack. |

Initiating the Annihilation of Call of Duty
It's just been over a month and already a new Call of Duty map pack is on the way... with the release coming on June 28th. Activision and Treyarch are really milking peoples' money here.
The map pack itself is dubbed Annihilation, with four new multiplayer maps and one zombies, as per usual. Even though they don't say it, you know this is going to sell for $15. And naturally, it's hitting Xbox first with the rest later.

Rezurrecting monthly DLC
A new Call of Duty map is hitting Black Ops yet again, today in fact, known as Rezurrection. Four maps are included, and only one new (called Moon). Interestingly, all of the maps are actually zombie maps, most of which are ones you've played from the past in World at War. Except now they're remastered. This map pack will also cost you $15 once again. Bleh.

Call the cops!
Mark Bradford, a 46-year-old based in England, recently assaulted a teenager he had met online in a Call of Duty match. With endless taunting from the 13-year-old, this man found the kid's address, went to his house, and strangled him.
After a trip to court... it would seem Mark has no issue playing the game with the kid anymore.
