RE: Summer is coming!

You are right Spunky-I also left out that I had used the Florida's Best Soaks and Drops and Gordochom without the crushed lamisil tabs. The toenails pretty much responded well to most everything. I forgot the gordochom-I used it for a few months before I did the FT. Thanks for pointing that out. I personally like the liquids better than the creme antifungals. I feel like they get where the bad gunky is better. I also used Ozonated olive oil and tea tree oil. My husband requested that I ditch the tea tree oil because of the smell. I didn't use the ooo enough to tell much about it. I still use it on my face and on an eyelid rash I had last week. It is great on skin. I guess I have tried just about everything. Since starting the FT I really am not interested in anything else.

What I need now is to learn to quit picking at them. But then, you have already commented on my patience, or lack of it!

I will keep on posting. I saw an interesting video clip today regarding foot care and callous removal that you guys might be interested in. I use the CVS brand flexitol creme but have never used saran wrap with it. The video shows using the wrap with another creme. I saved it to my computer at work. I will post the link tomorrow.

Ped Egg

I got a ped egg today. Haven't opened it yet it was 9.99.

My tennis shoes hurt my feet when I exercise I guess where that one toenail is off but I have to wear them and then I take them right off. I will try to stretch the one shoe and see if that helps, their old anyway so it won't hurt them I just use them for doing my walk away the pounds tapes.

I am going on vacation early June and I am sure we will be using the pool at the hotel. It bothers me that my toenails look half eaten away - the big ones anyway but still... I really don't have a choice but just go with it. I guess a hundred years from now it really won't matter what others thought of my toes huh?

FT Success

Ok, there's Nic, Luv, Lee, Pebbletoes (?), Rock (?) and me, who've had success with FT. Anyone else? I believe it was Rock who mentioned it first, on this board. I had heard of it previously and thank God that I gave it a whirl. I am soooooooooooooooo grateful for this stuff!

RE: Ped Egg

Where did you buy it? I'm going to bid on one tonight and if I don't get it, I'll probably just go out and buy it on Thursday.

RE: FT Success

Is Nailmania still using FT followed by Tineacide too? I really think that's the best way & Spunky is the one who discovered for us to use one a short time after the other. I wouldn't have thought of doing it that way cuz I was spacing many hours apart & it's not the same results exactly. FT used alone is a lot of white buildup to scrub off. With Tineacide following FT, I barely have any white buildup, if at all! I started all treatment on my toes, sometime after middle of January, with miconazole nitrate 2% in form of Nail Tek liquid from a nail salon. It's nearly identical to FT, so I was really lucky that it was recommended to me first as one of the best treatments available. I think I added in some kind of liquid 25% undecylenic acid like FungiNail while trying to find where I could buy Tineacide cream. I'll have to go back & check. Only recently did I discover the Tineacide cream makes a lot less work to use FT if applied soon after. Spunky's right about another thing too, this board is a journal of our progress. I hope many learn from our experiences posted here. I love that so many are having success in one way or another :)

Daily Routine - 2x day FT followed by Tineacide cream, Flexitol liquid, white vinegar, Lamisil foot cream, Tineacide Shoe Spray
Infection 1 yr, treated 4 months

RE: Another one bites the dust!

Hi Lee, that's great you are knocking them out, one by one! Keep up the good work. When you were a child, did you realize at the time you had any kind of athlete's foot or do you just now realize it as an adult? I only recently learned there is more than one kind of athlete's foot & that Moccasin type is not what I ever pictured when I thought of athlete's foot. The more I am learning & thinking about it, I've had that kind of callus buildup for maybe 10 or 12 years! Back from the time when I used to have a house full of cats & I could have easily picked up fungal spores if one of them had ringworm *groans* How could I have not realized? I always used fine grit files & lotions all these years, thinking it good grooming habit one must go through to care for feet. Now I know that's not normal. Wanna know what else? This is something I am thinking on as well.. the 4th toe on my right foot, the same toenail with the white lines, way back 10 years ago began to hurt when I would trim cuz it had white buildup underneath that could have easily been fungus I now realize & has been a different color always since that time. I thought cuz I was getting older. It's changing now that I'm treating so now I think it was fungal. Plus the pinky toe beside it began to curl about that same time all those years ago & I thought that an age thing too. Now I really don't know for sure, but I'm beginning to realize I probably have had something going on for a really long time :(

RE: Another one bites the dust!

I haven't checked into the "mocassin" variety. Maybe I have that, too. I remember having the same skin overgrowth around my baby toenails. It is still that way, probably fungal in nature, too.

I put in a low bid for the ped egg (this time the seller is in California! :) and got it for 1.04 plus 4.99 shipping. I'll sell the other one, when I get it, probably in 2009. :)

The board here is a journal. Nic was saying that she started FT last fall, she had her dates wrong. And forgot a couple treatments. Easy to do, Nic, I don't mean to pick on you. I try to keep mine on my business calendar and then I thought, "jeez, we got it all here, for us to refer to!"

I sure wish I could take credit, Luv for the FT/Tineacide application, but it was just a happy accident. Praise Jesus. :)

Lee

How is it going with your "Clearly Confident"? MN 2%. I was just looking at old postings here and saw that you were using it.

Luv--On the ped egg, should I use it before or after soaking in vinegar/peroxide. After the soak, my feet are very soft and peeling. Would this be overkill to do it at that time and dangerous?

Soaking right now in white vinegar and peroxide. Used FT, Tineacide (twice a day), drizzled bleach in the tub. Soaking for 30 minutes. And I'll use clotrimazole 2% before I go to bed tonight, on top of the FT and Tineacide.

More on the Ped Egg & Foot Creams

I used mine when my feet were very well dried after my shower. I wanted to wash away the foot cream so new meds could be applied then after filing. The instructions say to use the Ped Egg on clean, dry, moisture-free skin.

Foot creams have been on my mind a lot recently. I've been reluctant to try many things since they sometimes are greasy. Tinactin cream sounded perhaps that it might be, anyone know if it is? I tried Lotrimin cream recently & it wasn't greasy. I may use it later on. I began the Lamisil cream earlier this week since the meds I'd been using didn't seem to be working as well as maybe it should have. I really like the Lamisil cream. I noticed improvement after 3 days so that's encouraging. It's working way better than I expected. I've been rethinking about antifungal creams lately. I wanted something non-greasy, but after trying a few that were, I stayed with Monostat Vaginal cream which contains miconazole nitrate 2%. I know that MN2% good for feet, but recently I began to wonder just how much meds was in that tube as compared to foot creams made specifically for feet. What if it's not strong enough sold for yeast infections, even though it works great in the other moist warm areas it's intended for? What if the huge tube has only 1/4 teaspoon of active ingredient whereas tiny tube of foot meds may have 2 tsps of same thing... see my point? I may be defeating myself with previous erroneous thinking & trying to use something intended for other uses that may not be nearly as strong. Not sure if I'm making any sense, haha. Even with Lotrimin cream containing 1% Clotrimatol, how do I know it's not stronger & better for my feet than buying 2% Clotrimatol vaginal meds, as I was considering doing before I bought the Lotrimin instead? It's hard to know what's right. I decided to stay with foot cream products instead for now. It might be more important than I first thought.

Foot Creams Cont

I really haven't used many foot creams/lotions but you all got me curious so I found a small tube of Monistat that was in the medicine cabinet (the little one that comes with the kit) anyway I have been using that too - the coconut oil I love but sometimes I am too impatient for it to soak in and not be so greasy. I have not bought any other creams yet but I am sure I will when I run out of this little tube.

Guess what? I started applying the meds to one I thought was looking a little wierd and the meds are reacting to it so now I am treating all of them just to be safe. This med still doesn't seem (so far) to affect any good toenails so well see I know it can soften them though so I hope I am doing the right thing.

FT

I am not using the FT daily because the little bit of build up that I couldn't get off was making my nail sore. I'm going to try to use it every other day. I have gone back to using the Duggericide every night before bed and in the morning I use Funginail and Tineacide. It is just frustrating how long it takes for the big toe nail to grow out and I still have the dark pink area in the center. I plan to keep up the current routine through the summer and see how the nail looks in September. If it grows out just about 1/6" I may be able to get away with sandals.

RE: FT

I don't have any white buildup with FT. I think that's because I apply Tineacide afterward. Try that combination. I think it's important that if you're going to use the FT, that you should follow the instructions, which is twice a day.

daily routine--FT, Tineacide, drizzle bleach in the tub, clotrimazole 2% at night, 30 minute vinegar/peroxide soak.
5 yr/35 yr infection.

RE: Dead Fungal WHITE Specks

Darn. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if my weird brown flecks grow out.

I went back on my calender and found that I just started five weeks ago. I think at this point all I'm doing is keeping the fungus at bay. But it's still too soon to tell. I even changed my treatment somewhere in there. Anyway, everyone keep up the good work! We can beat this~

RE: FT

I'm new here but have read through a lot of these pages...I'm very impressed with the perseverance that everyone seems to have shown with this pesky problem.

I have begun soaking my feet in vinegar at least once a day and am applying something called Proclearz after that, but it seems like this FT has been doing a lot for a some of you.

Am I correct in assuming that you're referring to fungoid tincture? Can anyone give me more details about it (how it's applied, how often, etc.)?

Thanks and congrats to those of you who seem to be well on your way to overcoming your fungus!

RE: FT

It's a liquid and it comes with a small strands of nylon bristles, that constitutes a brush. It is applied twice a day, 12 hours apart. It is Fungoid Tincture. The liquid makes it easy to apply and get into all the nooks and crannies. I've bought mine on ebay, but you might be able to find it at your local drug store. It's great!

RE: FT

Welcome. After treating this daily for over 6 yrs., I have had great success but I feel it is hard to know what to do for maintainance. I feel many of the treatments are too strong and will just make the nail thin and skin irritated. Yet I am constantly looking for signs of the nail looking a little discolored, or white etc.
Nic, it appears to me we need a follow up discussion group.

RE: FT

Thanks! I'm going to keep trying with just what I've got now, but if I don't see improvement with the new nail growing out I'll probably try FT.

RE: FT

Have you tried something now that you've cured it, that has made your nails thin and irritated? Or are you guessing that?

What about an oil? Like oil of oregano, tea tree oil, etc.? What about doing the vinegar/peroxide soaks, once a week?

I'm so jealous of you, Wils! Congrats! You and Nic are our poster babies of success!

Coconut Oil

I don't know about the feet (haven't been using it long on those) but if any of you have eczema you MUST try this on your skin. It is a miracle worker. It takes a couple to three weeks to see a major difference but it works wonders. Just thought I would share.

I wish I could find a natural lotion to put it into to tone down the greasiness but it's worth it.
