100 Trusts

Let's share!

So, how many reviews did you have to write before you had 100 people who added you to their WOT? I know, this is going to require to do some counting and comparison.

... well, at least for all of you since this doesn't apply to me. I'm at 415 reviews and I'm still only on 70 users WOT (hehe)

H3ll . . .all the usual data geeks will weigh in... I am sure some have spreadsheets they can look it up on..!!

My 100th trust is gc_mom. Alisha now has an inactive account, not having written since early 2003.

That trust was placed on Jan 25, 2003. My earliest remaining review is dated Dec 22, 2001. So roughly 13 months to 100 trusts. I had actually joined in Feb of 2001 but did not become 'active' until sometime in December.

Perhaps more importantly, I had written 49 reviews/essays over that time period. That number, easily quantified, might be more important than 'time' in producing an increase in trust numbers.

Of course other factors, all the intangibles that are not so quantifiable, are probably even more important in the short and long term.

Interesting topic.

*checking WOT, looking at calendar, counting fingers and toes, looking at the phases of the moon*

oh - I don't have 100 yet.

RE: 100 Trusts

I can't remember all that specifically, somewhere between 70-90 reviews.

But I do remember the day I finally hit 10 trusts, it was August 9th 2001. I remember that so well because I was quite exciteable.

RE: 100 Trusts

My 100th truster appeared in late November, which is also the last time I was able to be as active as I think I should be as far as writing and rating. Being highly visible on the site definitely correlates to earning trusts.

I bet it's good to be king. Just imagine if you posted a hot profile pic - you might skyrocket to 250 in no time.

You are right. I went the pity route, showing my poorly dislocated finger and that garnered exactly zero trusts. Maybe I should've went with my bloodied ear with glass shards in my hair.

It makes me a little nervous that I advised you to post a hot profile pic and this is what comes to your mind.

RE: 100 Trusts

I had written 165 reviews and had been active on Epinions for about 18 months. I was an Advisor in at least one section and a TR in one or two sections, and had read/rated/commented on at least 18 octabazillion reviews. Reading/rating/commenting are really the keys, I think. The more useful comments you leave, the more likely people will notice you, nod their heads and think, "That's a person I can trust."

HA

I've never been majorly active on the site until about the last 4 or 5 months, I still haven't reached 15... It's somewhat annoying, but my writing is getting better and I'm hoping my WOT will go up. (Fingers Crossed)

I wouldn't say that. You use your trust fairly judiciously, thus you don't get a lot of reverse trusts. There's nothing wrong with that.

RE: 100 Trusts

The 100th member to trust me was calepe, who only has three reviews and who I haven't seen around for quite a while, though 99 was befus, who is not only very active but has become one of my closest online friends. Anyway, I hit 100 on July 24, 2004, having been on the site for four and a half years, and I'd written 546 reviews.

RE: 100 Trusts

The 100th person to add me to their trust list was none other than a very good internet friend, golferinfr. He went on to hold a TR title in H&G for several years. His specialty is Lawn and Garden and he writes wonderful reviews there. It took 2 1/2 years to get to 100.

It took nine months and a dozen reviews to get the first one, from caprig, still quite active in Health and Beauty. She also made the first comment ever (as one of the predecessors of the current Advisor role in H&G), on my eleventh review. It was a well written suggestion for improvement from her H rating. I still credit her for hanging around long enough to get past 100.

Now I am past six years and still haven't reached 200. I adore each and every person who trusts me and those whom I trust, but just don't put much thought into the trust part of Epinions. I may look at my list a couple of times a month.

Larry - who doesn't have trusts on a spreadsheet

Hiya,
Well, I wasn't paying much attention so had to go back and did some detective work. Seems the 100th came after my 87th review (on March 8th).

The weird thing is since then I got 104 more in 9 reviews... just a month later. Wonder if that's how it goes. For others with big trusted number, does it seem like it's easier for new readers to trust you after you've gotten 3 digit trust number under your belt (the rate of gaining trust accelerated at some point)? I know it feels easier for me to trust another person when I see that he/she has accumulated a lot of trusts (especially by Epinionators I really respect).

Cheers,
Smorgy :o)

Hmmmm...

Not to be a nit-picker . . .but your numbers sounded too good to be true ...so I checked.

Your 100th trust actually would be on Dec 26th after your (approx.) 67th review. (Perhaps you added an extra page when counting..??)

That said ( and re-calculated ) you have indeed added 100-plus since that date and with 'only' approx. 30 reviews. Those are astounding numbers.

Anyway . . .not trying to totally dampen your enthusiasm ...perhaps just throttle it back a notch. ...:minism:...
