RE: 100 Trusts
Quote: sleeper54 Your 100th trust actually would be on Dec 26th after your (approx.) 67th review. (Perhaps you added an extra page when counting..??)
That said ( and re-calculated ) you have indeed added 100-plus since that date and with 'only' approx. 30 reviews. Those are astounding numbers.
Anyway . . .not trying to totally dampen your enthusiasm ...perhaps just throttle it back a notch. ...:minism:...

Ack! You've just proven my dad right that I can't count properly. Thanks, Tom! :o) Yup, I musta gone a page or so too many.
O, forgot to add that I also have an unusually large number of people I trust (700+), so that might play a role, too. I hadn't been aware of the ..er... community aspects of Epinions until a few months ago, so I've been adding people to my WoT based on their reviews that I've read... even if they aren't active anymore. I also don't delete folks from my WoT only because they've been inactive...So my WoT thingy is probably an abnormal animal. :o)

Ahhh. The new user going nuts with trust. No problem with that, it is your trust list. I myself trust an old, inactive user or two. I also am not big on deleting inactive users.

Quote: Ulfson Let's share!
So, how many reviews did you have to write before you had 100 people who added you to their WOT? I know, this is going to require to do some counting and comparison.
... well, at least for all of you since this doesn't apply to me. I'm at 415 reviews and I'm still only on 70 users WOT (hehe)
Boy, I've no freapin' clue when it happened. I've been bouncing around the same number for the last few years though... :) Ummmm... Less than 45?
Looks like my current set of Truster's hundredth person was in '04. I've lost enough people from my list though that it is likely that it was back in '02.
:) Number of reviews isn't always all that relevant though.

RE: 100 Trusts
Reached 100 after 96 reviews on March 13th, about 16 months after writing my first review. Currently the number stands at 112. Never thought to figure this out before. I seem to recall though that I had written 9 or 10 reviews before I added my first. She soon afterward penned her 100th review and hasn't been heard from again. Coincidence?

RE: 100 Trusts
Nice topic. ^_^
Hmm, let's see... If I did this right, I had to write 258 reviews before getting my 100th trustee. At least I think that's right. I think I might have had a small celebration when I did but I don't really remember. But I dont' have a spreadsheet with all sorts of data either so that might not be entirely right, but I'd like to think that it's close...

one of few things in life
I am actually thrilled to have what few I have. Just to have one says alot. I cherish these, and now with my swollen head, I shall probably go and find a few from here. I never really hit the trusted button that much, even though I trust quite a few here, most which actually replied to this post. |

Politically incorrect
If I can be both politically incorrect and controversial, it is my unscientific observation that women attract trusters more quickly than men. This is not always true, of course, and I can think of some men who have immense trust lists. However, if you are a woman and post a reasonably attractive picture (it doesn't even have to be you), it's my observation that you will probably attract trusters faster than a man who posts a reasonably attractive picture.
One scam artist -- who is apparently a man -- posted a picture of a beautiful woman and quickly attracted a rabid following. S/he did write good reviews but so do many other people. Unfortunately for him/her, flying a little too close to the sun took the starch out of his/her wings and s/he no longer soars on Epinions.
Just my politically incorrect and possibly wildly inaccurate observation...

Fascinating topic...
Hmmmm...
My 100th truster was none other than Mongkut and it happened on January 17th, 2007. As of that point I had 157 reviews posted, had two TR hats and an Adv. hat AND had been on Epi since 2003.
Apparently, it's just not cool to trust me.
Then again, I wouldn't trust me if I were you :)

I think you're right. They are important to the few of us who follow UFC on Epinions. Using Tito Ortiz's name in a review title doesn't get the same traction on the internet as other high page view attracting products.
But thanks for the props. |

Yes Jen, that would be me.
It was on the 17th. And that was because you posted a killer Sushi Bar review on the 16th that caught my attention. Always have to trust a fellow sushi lover.
And even after several dozen LUSH product reviews I've still kept you on my WOT. :)
Rob (who for some reason seems to trust a lot of people who write reviews about LUSH products)

I don't know anything about Tito Ortiz... but if you used Royce Gracie or Oleg Taktarov's name in a title, I'd definitely notice.

I did use Royce Gracie's name in a review but it was for the show when Matt Hughes humbled him. Not sure if you want to read that one. |

Your general theory is absolutely correct, IMHO.
I remember the 'beautiful woman' being politely 'peeved', in a private e-mail exchange, that I had not trusted her yet. I will not say that the attention from such a beautiful creature was not welcomed, or tempting. But she simply seemed a bit . . .'too good to be true'. Not that it was particularly prescient of me to be cautious there ...all the 'hot user-pics' on the site know I am slow to trust them, less the same trap be sprung.
.

Wait . . .I think I just mildly insulted all the 'hot user-pics' I do trust . . .!!

Actually I'm desperate for attention so I spent countless hours coding a search bot to scan the Eps board for any mention of my user name........
...well, before Mona rats me out (as I'm no programmer)...
...I guess I'll just admit it was a coincidence.....
...although it was nice to be mentioned..even if unintentionally...
Rob (who is searching his tech library for a copy of the Idiots Guide to Programming C+, not that I really want to design that search bot......really.)

I know a middle aged, phat, bald guy with teeny eyes and crooked teeth who says a photo presenting those fine features could bring in trusts too. His good looks are the reason, right? Please say, yes.
