ok - but I still don't understand the answer to the question. Which was... should all reviews of that shampoo go into the one listing (for the 1 gallon size in this case) or must the other products be requested, and added, so that reviews can be written if you have a container less than 1 gallon?

I have a trunk full of those tiny shampoos and rinses from hotels and motels. Being I don't have much hair it goes a long way. Can they be included?

The reason is because the community has been trained to rate based on the exact, or close to exact listing, and I don't want to say that you should review it no matter the size, and then see some OT ratings.

That's why I was asking.

Will there eventually be "write a review" links for all 3 sizes listed? Is there even a way to add them?

I also saw multiple "write a review" links for the same product... but listed several different times as different deals. Are they all going to the same "bank" of reviews on the product? Or are they getting split up so we'll have 5 or 8 different sets of reviews on the product?

RE: wow! reviews disappear!

Hate to be a naysayer here, but the UPDATE to Pets has sent every single one of my Pet category reviews into limbo. You can find them on my list at the end unsorted with no category, but if you go to actual fish foods or cat foods etc. that I have reviewed, not a single review is listed, not mine, nor anyone elses.

Should we MOVE our reviews to the proper heading, or is this something that will be done?

Please let me know, Thank you.

Ah, I missed that part. Will you take, "I'm not sure" as an answer?

Yes, as long as it's implied that ",but we'll discuss it amongst ourselves and provide direction in the near future" follows the word "sure".

Seeing as how it's dog shampoo that's being discussed here, I'd really like to know what kind of hotels you've been staying at!

RE: wow! reviews disappear!

Well apparently some of you pet reviewers are using electronics to get rid of fleas and ticks.

There may be a "write a review" link, but that will be based on having more deals in order to turn it into a product. At least I think that's what it would take.

Right now, we'll probably have a bunch of different sets of the same product, but in different carnations. I'm not sure if they are going to join them together or not.

Send me an e-mail with your review(s) and the product(s) in which you think the review should be moved to. I'm not sure how we're going to deal with this.

Assuming that they could, why wouldn't they want to get them all together? Wouldn't it be more helpful for a consumer to have all of the reviews available to them rather than having one review for each link... What if they click on the link with just a NH or SH review rather than the deals with VH and MH ones?

Just smack me if I'm being pushing too much on this.

Your arguments are very valid. I'm just not sure how the catalog team is going to sort those kinds of things out.

Garrett, I've sent an email with an attachment of all the reviews (about 25-30 I think) that got limboed in PETS. I haven't had a chance to go through and find the new product listing for each one yet. Sorry, and best of luck. At least this wasn't done in MOVIES (where I have a good 300 plus reviews)

It was someone scraping our site. It didn't have anything to do with the last three days.

a bit off-topic....

.. but I was just wondering if Epinions could send us an email announcing these Read Only sessions the day before they happen instead of just announcing it on the Message Board? It can go out with the daily notifiers, perhaps?

I bet there are many Epinionators who don't frequent the MB that were in for some rude awakenings this week when they tried to read, rate, or submit a review and the site looked to be down for awfully long (and 3 times in one week.... that could be very alarming to some).

It took me a good 6 months to even realize that the MB existed, so I don't think that just announcing the RO sessions on the MB is adequate, especially, since I couldn't even read during the OR times... the site wasn't showing anything posted beyond July 17th for a long time, and then it just went broke all together (for me, anyhow). So any of us who hadn't seen the announcement before wouldn't even know what was happening even if they could get to the MB, since the MB wasn't showing anything posted after the 17th either.

Cheers,
Smorg :o)

okay, is everyone finding this out then?

I don't write much in Pets, but I checked quickly through a few that I have, and they are in limbo-ish I think too .... I can't imagine Epinions wants us ALL to submit or move or what have you?

Are we at the "assume it's a glitch" and wait for it to be worked out phase?

I swear I read all the above posts, but I am still confused :)

RE: wow!

okay, and can we agree that something weird is going on?

H&G and Pets show up on the same Just Ins -- and some of the Pets products when I look at them show no picture, just the product name:

this is bogus, but necessary for pseudoprods

huh?

RE: wow!

I really really reeeeeeeeeeally hope I don't have to send in all 100+ Pets reviews that I have to be moved.

Did the engineers know that this was going to happen before they implemented the new system?

RE: wow!

Okay, just performed a little experiment. I searched for "innova evo" which is a line of cat/dog food. I was taken to 2 different listings for it, one with 7 reviews and the other with just one.

When you click on both, no reviews show up. You have to click "read reviews" to get to the actual reviews.

When you get to the reviews... there are 8 reviews displayed for each listing. So it looks like they do go into one central place somewhere in Epi-land.

What was somewhat disturbing, though, was that reviews for both the dry and canned cat food were displayed in the same listing.

My head hurts.

RE: wow! reviews disappear!

Ok, I just moved my one Pet review to the new listing for it, but it still didn't solve the whole problem, while I guess the review is no longer "lost" it still doesn't have a Category listed by it on my list in my profile?!?
