RE: I can't spend

The following field contains unacceptable markup code (HTML). That's what this naked review says. I never leave a review without bolding sections, etc. etc. so this will be a first. I'll give you my password if I can remember it.

RE: I can't spend

Hi, Jo. What a nightmare. Have you tried highlighting the entire review, hitting the Bold button, then hitting it again to turn it off? If that doesn't fix it, try doing the same thing with italics. I really hope this works for you.

VH review I must say... but back to the problem...have you tried copying the naked review into the little box with a w on it, not the main review page..but on the right side near the top, the little icon that, when you hold your curser over it, says paste from word...

Paste from Word
Use CTRL+V on your keyboard to paste the text into the window. then hit submit. That worked for me when I was having problems....

Good luck, B

RE: I can't spend

Thanks, Barb, Paste from Word knows me very well. I have even reformatted my Word document, etc. etc. I sent in a bug report but this is beyond frustrating. Jo

I'm so sorry. I've been sitting here trying to figure out something else for you to try...I feel your pain!!!

I hope submitting the bug report helps. I'm going to keep a watch here in the next few days to see if someone figures this out for you. You must be ready to go nuts!! :)

RE: I can't spend

jo, I just saw on the member center post that they have fixed a lot of problems and that you can change the toggle to change text editor...I'm not sure what that means but maybe you can go back to old submit a review page...

Hi Jo,

We received the bug report. There wasn't a draft version of the review, so I used the text that you posted above to create one. Please try this version. If you have more problems, I'll be around to help out.

RE: I can't spend

Thanks for the temp! For whatever reason I could not use bold so my review looks pretty bare but at least it is posted. Thanks so much for the help. Any idea what I should do next time or any of us having problems? Jo

Ummm right now the review is not on my page and the temp review is still there (:

I think you're seeing a cached version of your profile page.

When I view your profile, the review shows up as a Recent Review.

If it doesn't change soon, it should show the correct status when the servers restart around 8pm PST.

The release going out in the next hour or two will fix most of the issues that you are experiencing.

Toggle

I like being able to shut off the WYSIWYG editor, but there ought to be a way to set a preference (or at least a cookie) so that it doesn't come up at all.

When I try to "update" a review written using the plain text editor (that thing that was fixed despite not being broken...) it is loaded in the WYSIWYG editor first, then when I toggle said editor off I find

*All of the associated cruft
*"a name" tags molested
*ampersand character codes broken or replaced

Thanks for being responsive to date.

Yes, we talked about using a preference to toggle the editor. In the interest of getting something out sooner than later, we went with the toggle, which was quicker to implement. We may be able to get the preference setting in an upcoming release.

No more gripes

Well, it looks like my gripes regarding the WYSIWYG editor have all been worked on and resolved. I posted a review last night and it gave me no hassle whatsoever despite my usual extensive use of bold and italics. So I'm happy as a clam! (Who came up with that phrase, anyway? Do we have any actual evidence that clams are ever happy?)

Have you ever met a clam who wasn't happy? Think about it, they get to spend all day around water. What could be better?

A Word Is Too Long.... new bug?

Ick! I've never seen this excuse before, but I'm trying to post a review copied and pasted from Word via the 'Paste from Word' tool and can't get to the next page because of this flag: The following field contains a word that is too long. Please shorten the word by adding spaces or spaces with a hyphen, or else please choose a shorter word.

Absolutely stuck... it doesn't even tell me exactly which word it deems to be too long. :oP

RE: A Word Is Too Long.... new bug?

well... think I've figured it out. I included a few quotations, and indented the citation line. I had a look at the review from the html window and the indentation shows up in a long string of &nbl; (or something like that, I don't remember the exact code now). When I erased them, the editor let me through to the preview page... So it should be fine now. :oP

I had this same situation today with a forum post and got exactly the same message: The following field contains a word that is too long. Please shorten the word by adding spaces or spaces with a hyphen, or else please choose a shorter word. I had posted a long URL to a Web site and that was the "word" that was too long. Once I deleted the URL and figured out a way around it, the post posted posthaste.

I had this occur one time, early in the roll out of the processor.

When you have it 'ready to go' do one last edit in the 'HTML editor' pop-out box, whatever its name is.

Delete all the p an br tags there that you do not want and there ya go.

I was seeing that every time I went back into the review to edit it was adding extra spaces everywhere there already was one. Though to be honest I have not had that problem at all in my latest reviews.

I assume at some time you have completely logged out of the site and 'rebooted' it so to speak..??
