Sole Based Promotion?

I know I'm not the only person wondering here, but as it is now past the official middle of the month, I'm curious as to when we will know what the promotion is. While I love Epinions with all of its bugs, glitches, and other assorted hyjinks, I've been discussing through emails with other Epinionators when we could expect an announcement of the sole based promotion. Perhaps Almar could let us know what to expect.

You had to do it, didn't you. Just when the bad puns and rhymes were no longer running amok...you had to stir things up.

RE: Sole Based Promotion?

Maybe the "sole" promotion will be announced on the "heels" of the recently distributed August IS/10-4-10 earnings?

RE: Sole Based Promotion?

Well...it looks like soles for Souls is the promotion. Good. Its been nice getting something to line my own pockets the past few months...it will be nice to help others before the weather starts getting cold. I guess I need to rummage through my closet for some shoes to review. I did my running shoes last December....hmmm...I am due for a new pair...

A General Thought

It seems that the Shoe section is a mess. And it is unlikely that any IS will be earned given the fact that the shoes I clicked on were all "review" reviews. I was looking for the shoes on my feet right now...which are not in the database.

I do not know who to send the SAP to, because the shoes do not show up in a particular category. I have emailed Almar and will post if I get an answer. If this promotion is going to work, there is a good chance that many items will need to be SAPed.

I was just going to pipe up and say the same exact thing. But, looks like you did it for me.

I think it may be Wellness and Beauty. Typing shoes generically generated a drilldown from that category. I would have never guessed that one.

It is Wellness & Beauty. There are also shoes in Sporting Goods, but it's my understanding that only shoe reviews written under Wellness & Beauty will participate in the S for S promotion. So if you need to SAP, direct it to W & B.

That is interesting because I just read a review by dlstewart on an internet shoe company...I wonder if she (or the charity) gets credit for that one.

Oh, that's just Great, Not...I just wrote a shoe review August 28th.........seems to me this is not going to go over well for the general epinions population since it's hard to find the right shoe to review and as for me I wrote another one 2 months ago...I don't buy too many shoes these days...;(

Wish I had known!

I've posted a shoe review or two or three...

I would have saved them! I did post one for this month so there's $5.00 for the cause! Guess I'm going to have to go out and buy some more shoes to review.

ps. I have earned IS on my shoe reviews. Granted not much, but better than zero!

Actually, we're back-dating this a bit because it took us a while to get this going. Per the rules, we're counting shoes reviews dating back to September 1st. So if you wrote a shoe review (yes, it has to be in the shoes category - http://www.epinions.com/Shoes), we'll count it towards the promotion.

Thanks for the interest!

I have never written a shoe review and don't see that changing. I rarely buy new shoes because I have so much trouble finding ones that fit right and are comfortable. I only have..hmm..maybe 4 pairs. So I won't be participating in this promotion.

We have a variety of name brand shoes for all seasons but I have only found ONE (or was it two?) in the database--which I did review. I could have sworn that I was told shoes could not be SAPed. Or was that something else?

Since this promo had a late start, will the next promo begin October 1st or later? The ones of us who have already done all of the shoe reviews possible are curious. Does epinions have promos every month usually?

I've been here over 3 years, and there was some promotion or other every single month since I've been here.

Of course, that's not a guarantee of future months.

*not* a CL ---->

but I am fairly sure Beauty and Wellness cannot add shoes/clothing.

:-)

(I don't think anyone can)

I think it has to be something "in" the database.

There is no Shoes/Clothing/etc option to even "ask" for in Wellness and Beauty.

*edited to note I see someone posted above that they asked Almar, which is probably the best solution ... I just know being a titleholder in W&B we can't have shoes added currently :) hth!

Fair question.

I read the Member Center post to say this "Sole" promo was good through December, so is it then understood that there are no "other" monthly promotions other than this one between now & then?

Almar advised me to go through Wellness and Beauty. I sent in a SAP...although neither SAP form had shoes...we shall see...I haven't heard back yet.

Bops Mom and Shantel are going to have their hands full if it's on them!

I thought the shoe category fell under sporting goods. That's where all of my shoe reviews live (all two of them).

thanks to Kimm for pointing me to this thread :)

1) our old SAP form did not allow us to add anything in shoes/clothing/etc. The new one does :) The majority of shoe listings on the site are from vendor feeds, etc. But with our new and improved SAP form, yes we can now add shoes.

2) The shoe SAP's do come to me, I've already added a couple today

3) I think this is a really cool promotion! I'm glad everyone is getting involved... just go easy on me LOL! Maybe if you send one SAP at a time.. then write that review before sending the next SAP, please :) That way everyone can get a turn.

I will keep up as best I can. I will go ahead and tell you that I will be out of town on Saturday so don't panic if you don't get something back right away between Friday night and Sunday night.

If you have any questions you can email me at SHANTEL575@yahoo.com

Shantel

Edited to add: since the SAP form is not Shoe friendly... you are welcome to email me the information directly at the address I listed above... and in the subject line put "SHOE SAP" (haha)

Please include:

1) Name of Shoe, including the Brand
2) URL to the manufacturer's website (shoe listing)
3) URL of a photo/image (should end in .jpg, .gif or .img)
4) Price

As an aside, it is possible to walk uphill both ways to get somewhere. If you walk over a hill (up and then down it) to get somewhere you'd be walking uphill both ways;)

Totally not related to things but...

Ummmm... Yeah I guess people were concerned about backdating but ummmmmmm...

You could have a promotion targeting reviews of lunar backscratchers towards the end of the month and backdating it still wouldn't really make a difference.

Why not backdate it to (say) the start of Summer or something like that?

H3ll, my auto for the similarly focused car-review promotion (remember that one peeps..??} was a 1984 model.

I doubt if anyone is reading reviews looking for feedback on a twenty-year-old-plus used car. (Although . . .now that I look I see it has almost 140 outside visits and a few cents in IS ... wow.)

We actually do have to walk uphill both to and from the elementary school from our house. Its a straight walk on one street, but there is a hill in the middle. So I guess technically we are walking uphill and downhill each way.

Don't let a brand hold anyone back. We can add even if the brand isn't "listed" as our new SAP form is really different from the old one.

But we do need an image so you'd have to come up with that.

And that would be the problem I would have with what I have. I wouldn't know where to start looking for a picture of them or if there even would be any since all of mine are so old. Also I wouldn't have any idea on the other information that Shantel mentioned was needed to add the item.

Don't let a brand hold anyone back. We can add even if the brand isn't "listed" as our new SAP form is really different from the old one.

But we do need an image so you'd have to come up with that.

And also, pretty please don't send the same SAP to both of us :) That's how we get multiple/duplicate listings!

thank ya much :)

RE: SAPing Shoes

thanks to Kimm for pointing me to this thread :)

4) Price

Bump. (I just waded through a bunch of posts to find this :)

RE: SAPing Shoes

The information about how to SAP shoes should really be included in the promotion announcement.

I do agree. I had to search to find the SAP information included in shantel's post.

SAP'ed items in this category do count towards the promo, don't they?

Maybe a vague reference to Escher...the mathemetician and artist who drew the stairways that appear to go up and down at the same time?
