Redemption problem

I tried to redeem the generous holiday bonus, and I received a screen, asking me to email Epinions my phone number, so that they could securely get my SSN. This had become necessary, as I had earned over $600 this calendar year, triggering a requirement for an IRS 1099 form.

Problem: While this redemption would nudge me over $600 from Epinions, mainly because I won a big sweepstakes prize, that total goes back to November 2006. In this calendar year, even including the bonus I tried to redeem, I have accumulated far less than $600 from Epinions.

I e-mailed them, including a cut-and-paste of my Redemption details from 2008, and my phone number.

Is anyone else encountering this?

RE: Redemption problem

I think we've all encountered it. The phone number request is triggered by lifetime redemption of $600, not within a calendar year (despite what the message says). It's a known bug. I'm sure you can arrange a phone call with Christal in order to give her your SSN. (I'm not sure the 'redemption' email address works).

Okay. Now I know it's not me, and it's not something new. I'll e-mail Christal.

Thanks!

Actually, it's a flaw in the database, I was told. It actually had nothing to do with what totals we'd hit. But about six months ago, I had to provide this information or I couldn't redeem. I was also told the flaw would be fixed but quite a number of people had to provide their numbers. I don't know what became of the information.

RE: An Error

This is a bug in our system that we are hoping to fix next year.

Dolphinboy- I've reset your account. Try redeeming in the next 24 hours.

I also had the same problem. Thing is I also sent a email(with my cell phone number) to the redemtion center-still no call. I need the money as I only get social security and I wanted to get my kids(kids and grandkids)something for Xmas.

RE: Redemption problem

I don't think the redemption email address works. But I'm sure Christal will see this message and contact you shortly.

Christal, if it's true that the redemption email doesn't work, can the message be fixed to contain an email address that does work?

RE: Redemption problem

Christal- when you have a chance, could you please reset my account, too? After 8 years on Epinions, I am now at $583 so I can't redeem either. Thanks!

Yeah I got hit with it too......

I also got the message about cannot redeem without a social security number. I've tried calling the contact phone number on the site probably fifteen times, each time I get a voice mail, each time I leave my phone number but I'm never called back. I have also attempted to send a couple of emails, again never responded too. I enjoy writing for epinions and I like the nice little checks occasionally but guys you're doing a great job of ANNOYING the heck out of me right now. I'm sure you're like most employers trying to get fifty jobs out of one employee but for heaven's sakes return your messages or your emails...heck I don't even care which! Right now I feel like epinions is trying to shaft me out of my money...somebody please call me or change your web site so I can put the ssn in myself someplace...work number is 727-582-7853. Thanks for listening.

If christal is still reading this thread, perhaps reset me as well. I was nowhere near $600 this year and unable to redeem.

If you could reset me as well, it would be appreciated. I've been dealing with this problem for a while and I've never even hit $600 total for my time on epinions!

So this is how it gets done..??

We ask you publicly or send you an e-mail or..??

Does each of us need to 'alert' you or just those with redemptions at certain level or . . .what..?? Or do we have to try to redeem first to trip the 'problem' . . .or what..??

All seems rather inefficient and labor-intensive.

I know it is- the engineers are looking at it as we speak. Hopefully the bug is resolved soon.

Just cashed in so we can purchase airline tickets and book a hotel for a trip to the Keys for a few days. The next check should take care of staying in Orlando for another few nights too.

Tom, cashing in IS sweet, like an ice-cream sundae with strawberries, hot fudge and a big cherry on top.

I just redeemed too and it seemed to work but I'm not sure. I guess I'll keep an eye on my account and see if the amount I redeemed gets sucked out :)

I usually find it takes about a day for my profile page to reflect the redemption.

It went through. You can expect a check to arrive in the next two weeks.
