Walmart iLo garbage?
have an ilo DVDRHD04 recorder (hard drive/DVD burner) that worked for 4 months then went out on me. Apparently walmart doesn't stock these any more. Is that an indication of a problem? Are the other ilo products garbage like this one? and has anyone else had any luck fixing a broken ilo hard drive? |

RE: Walmart iLo garbage?
I have seen them, but most Wal-Mart products (ie their brand, ie, Durabrand for example) are what they are. Could I be any more vague? Not really, alls I am saying is that one gets what one pays for. In this case if it is a HDD problem, it shouldn't be that hard to swap it out, though most likely I would guess its simply a bad IC causing the problem. Does it turn on? do you get a black screen? blue screen? will it tune? or is it simply not able to access material on the HDD? |

ilo garbage
Yeah, it turns on but gives me an error message. I sent it back to be repaired a few months back and now they are telling me they don't import them into the states any more and aren't sure when they will. If I don't hear back from them this week I am filing a claim in court for breach of contract.
I will never buy WALMART ELECTRONICS EVER AGAIN!! POS! |

iLo electronics
We're ilo (all lowercase), an art and design studio in San Francisco which is completely unaffiliated with 'iLo electronics' (despite the uncanny resemblances of the logos).
We receive HUNDREDS of misdirected phone calls from angry Walmart customers about their DVD players and TVs.
Based on these daily conversations with very, very unhappy iLo electronics customers, it seems these products are of substandard quality. And there is apprently no possible way to reach customer service if you do have a problem. The phone number on their web site and in the manual is only a recording.

RE: Walmart iLo garbage?
I bought 2 Ilo DVD Recorders with 80 GB hard drives each about August of 2005 at my local Wal-Mart in Batesville, MS. Both units are out of warranty and not working properly. I contacted Ilo at 510 824 6077 several times and went through all the steps they suggested including changing blank DVD media brands, cleaning, defragging, restoring and they do not work right no matter what I do. Ilo tells me that they do not repair any out of warranty items even if you pay for it. They also do not know of any authorized service centers that will service their products. OK so I tried my local service centers and they tell me that without a schematic diagram they will not be able to diagnose and repair the units. Ok so I call Ilo and they tell me that they will not provide a schematic for their discontinued unit? I am wanting to see if there are enough people out ther to find an attorney to start a class action suit. Does anybody know if there are enough people out there to get this going. I got on several of the tech sites and found out that I am not alone in my dillema with Ilo. Thanks Alex |

I agree... Wow! You should write a review here on Epinions, which will reach a lot more people than this post on a forum. A well written review of this product will not only keep a lot of people from buying it, it will make you some money. If you don't know how to find the listing for the review location, leave a message here and someone will help you out.

Do not buy i can't find anyone to fix it.Here is the ilo number i got.

I also purchased several ilo DVD recorders w/80Gb HDs from Walmart last year.
Both DVD recorderds have failed and I can't find a service company to fix them. Let me know of a service center, repair resolution or legal class action info.

RE: Ilo
I bought a 32 inch Ilo and it worked fine for about a month. Now I can only turn it on and off by using one of the top buttons. Nothing else works on it! I am lucky that I do not need to change a channel (satelite), but what a piece of garbage. Walmart should really recall all of them before they cause a fire, has anyone else noticed how hot the top of the tv gets? |

I bought an ilo tv in December just before Christmas. Now it will do nothing but power on/off. I called Walmart today and they told me to bring it in and they would see whether or not they will let me exchange it. That is ridiculous. |

RE: ILO SUCKS
I too bought a 32" tv that blew just after the 90 day labor warranty expired. I found a customer service number:
FUNAI CORPORATION
Customer Service
Tel :1-800-605-8453
http://www.funai-corp.com
19900 Van Ness Avenue, Torrance, CA 90501
Of course all they would do is find a service center that is authorized to work on the ilo's. They refused to do anything about the labor charges I will have due to the defective equipment. I pointed out that I had found several postings of similar problems and "Josh" told me, "I've only gotten one other call about this type of problem." He did acknowledge that the tv should not have quit working less than 6 months after the purchase, but that didn't make it any easier to get him to authorize the repair free of charge. I'm sure the repair charges will be outrageous so I will probobly just go buy another brand tv and hope for the best. I agree, it seems ilo does suck! |

ILO does suck
Bought a 32" ilo..lasted 40 days. Went off while watching and would not power up again. Got through to costumer service and they said to take it back to walcrap. Taking it back tomorrow and just hope I can restrain myself if they don't refund my money. I used to shop at target until they ripped me off.Never been back. I can live without either store. Seems a lot of people having problems with ilo NEVER buy that garbage brand. Never had a problem with my other 6 tvs, some 10+ yrs old |

looks like it.
I saw a Vizio brand lcd TV that looked very nice in the store and had a damn nice price, $999.99. . . .
BUT
I can get a much nicer and better warranted Sony Bravia for $300 more. What would ya'll do? Thats what I thought.
It is a bummer, surely it is, but I think the lesson here is wally world is not your friend, they are destroying Am,erica bit by bit, taking away US based mfr jobs and pushing low quality crap on ppl who may not know it.
Next time you are in Wal-Mart, go to the homewares section, plates, toasters, pans, pots. Take a look. Any of it made here? No. How bout N. America, not even close. Calphalon is made in good ole Dayton Ohio, but Wal-Mart doesn't carry Calphalon because, "...the brand is not in synch with our customer base..."
but I digress |

ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
I have been to a dozen websites all having the same problem with the ILO tv. I am now researching a class action lawsuit, as I too, spent $850 (with tax) for a tv that none of the buttons, nor remote works but to power it off and on. Walmart doesn't want it back, and it has been used about 16 weeks in an adult household. It looks new. If anyone would seriously like to be a part of a class action,,let me know. |

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
I think that a lawsuit is a good idea. The TV's should have been recalled, but rather than recall them, Walmart conveniently stopped stocking them, so now they won't even accept them back within their own 90 day policy. The whole thing is rediculous. I happened to purchase the extended service warranty, but getting everything repaired is going to be a pain anyway. If anyone wants to sue, I say go for it. |

32" ilo lcd tv
We had our ilo for 41/2 months and the buttons on top of the tv quit, and the remote would not work. Can't control the volume or any function for that matter. I tried to bring it back to walmart and they gave me the runaround. I have to send it to california to the initial techologies, and my tv will be gone for 2 to 4 weeks. Class Action Suite Please. |

iLo 32 TV from Walmart... ticking timebomb?
I bought my TV from walmart in Early October of 06, about 8 months ago for just under $300. I was thrilled to get such a big TV for the price. It was a pain in the butt to get the silly thing in place since it weighs about 9,000 lbs. Plugged it in, turned it on and it was beautiful. I did notice that the picture was a little crooked, the right side is about a 1/2 inch lower that the left. But at that was a minor issue compared to what it would take to get the heavy thing all the way back to the store.
So far that has been the only problem I have experienced. Do you think its the norm for these to quit working sooner rather than later or do you suppose there are just a higher number than usual of defective units with poor customer service, but still a decent amount of functional units? |

ILo tv sucks buy sanyo walmart sucks.
I bought a 26" ILO LCD tv. It doesn't not have a working analog tunner. I use it for my xbox 360 screen and computer moniter when I watch movies on my computer. I could not find a repair center either.
I have worked for walmart for 9 years. I have seen and approved a number of returns on a number of products. The best return policy on TVS are on sanyo TVS. They are a year long.
So what you do is buy a sanyo tv, any size you can afford. Keep remote and reciept safe. Wait 364 days, and return and say either the sound is out or picture is fuzzy. walmart will take back your tv and give you your money back as long as you have the reciept. |

Do a search for AKAI USA, there you will find another means of contact. Although dealing with Walmart and getting them to honor anything is still an issue. Never again! |

class action
i'm interested about a class action regarding ILO 32" tv. although we had it a little longer coz our tv just quit on us this month, which is only 9 mos. from purchase. and what sucks is that we called their customer service hotline to ask for any authorized repair center here in our area. when we called that service center they said they don't repair that kind of tv and that we have to ship it to the manufacturer. so we called back the customer service and they instructed us to fax a request for a non-authorized service provider & waith for them to call. it's over a week now & we haven't heard from them. we're still covered by their parts warranty so we were prepared to just pay for the labor but it seems there is no one able to repair the tv. |

Ilo 26
Like most everyone else, I too purchased an Ilo TV from Walmart that worked for a couple of weeks past the 90 day warranty. A store employee told me to go to Ilo.com as the TV had a manufacturer warranty of 12 months. He said they would send me a voucher to have it repaired. That's not going to happen. That website has a disclaimer, saying they are not the company that makes Walmart products. I'm going to call the manager of the Walmart store tomorrow and insist they do something to help me with this problem.
If not, I would certainly be interested in joining in a class action law suit if anyone has any info about one. |

ILO RETURNED. STILL BROKE
I have the same problem. No buttons work on TV or remote. They charge me for a box to send it back. They return it. Still not fixed, same problem. PLUS, they didn't put the TV back together properly. Unbelievable. Wal-Mart won't take it back and the company refuses to issue a refund.
How do we go about a class-action lawsuit? |

ILO repair
My TV died the week after the warranty expired. I'm getting the Walmart run-around, ie, ask 10 people how to get it serviced and you get 10 different answers ranging from "You can't" to "You bring, we send". Independent electronics repair centers say that they can't get parts because it's some big secret as to whom Walmart contracted to manufacture these TVs. Walmart finally coughed up a photocopied sheet of paper that says the TVs are made by Tatung, and they will come to your house to repair it, but you can't take it anywhere. My questions to all readers: Has anyone heard of Tatung, and has anyone had them come to your home to make repairs? |

RE: ILO repair
Hi,
I am new to this site, but not to electronics.
For fun - and to replace my old VHS collection I bought and iLo DVD player/recorder - model DVDR05/ZU.
Well I knew it was goint to be a POS because I bought it at Wal Mart. My last electronic product from Wally Mart was an Apex DVD player that cost $35. I figured it could play DVD's, but it couldn't. I spun it around by its power cord and smashed it to pieces on the parking lot. Poor thing didn't live long enough to wear out the batteries in the remote.
Anyway my iLo DVDR05/ZU decided to heat up to 300 degrees and literally scream the other night. I woke up to the electric scream and unplugged the player. I called Wal Mart today and they said tough. I asked for iLo's number and I got bounced around until they gave me a toll number! What manufacturer, besides Acer - another story, gives you a toll customer service number?!
I took the DVD Recorder / Player apart and plugged it in. Yep, it screams an electrical hiss and looks like it got darn hot in there.
Considering I have had a Sony DVD player plugged in to the same outlet and on standby mode since 1997 I can rule out that (most) electronics can't be plugged in for a long time without problems.
For when the unit did work, it did an ok job. I burned all of my VHS tapes to DVD and tossed the old tapes. Yes, it could record TV to DVD, but the three times I tried that it basically would have a "Bad Burn" and delete everything.
Like the buttons on the iLo TVs, the buttons on my DVD unit stopped working too. The remote worked, but it was laughable at best. Every button was a tiny rectangle so it had no ergonomics whatsoever, hence it obviously wasn't my primary player.
The DVD unit is full of Cyber-Home electronics, which also I am assuming is the same as PYE products found at better retailers.
I know that Sony and other higher end electronics have their share of troubles, but I stand by them. The majority of my audio/video products are Sony and Panasonic. Why save a bit of money when you can buy something much better.
I also avoid the extended warranty. When it breaks, it is time to upgrade! Last time I checked, we live in a throw-away day and age. I haven't seen a repair shop for at least 20 years, except for the one I had to take my Samsung DVD player to. That place was full of old broken crap electronics that looked like nobody was coming back to claim them.
One more point - a class action lawsuit against iLo would not hurt them. Years ago I bought a Samsung DVD player and it was an absolute piece of junk. Samsung, under warranty, had me drive it 60 miles to the closest repair center, where it was repaired three times. Mind you that is 120 miles round trip per visit which ended up costing me more than it was worth. I threw it away - under warranty. About two years later I got a notice from a victory over a class action lawsuit against Samsung. My share was $10.32 and I could claim it as long as I had the DVD player and the receipt. VICTORY?! That was the last time I looked at a Samsung. When you get right down to it, everything is CRAP from CHINA!
Good Luck with all your future electronics purchases everybody! |

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
I have had my ilo TV for about a year, and it only worked for a couple of months. The only button that works is the power button on the remote. The buttons on the TV don't even work. It is the biggest POS I have ever purchased. What a rip off. I am absolutely ready for a class action lawsuit. I atleast want $$$ to be able to purchase a new usable TV. |

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
I'm in for a lawsuit. After three months my buttons stopped working as well. Dealing with wal-mart to resolve the problem is a big hassle. I did get my tv repaired, but I had to ship it half way across the country at my cost, not mention being without my $900 tv for 3 weeks. I'm very dissatisfied with wal-marts return policy. and the poor level of customer service I received regarding this matter. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ELECTRONIC FROM WAL-MART FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!!! let me know whats up with the lawsuit dkadams06@mchsi.com |

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
I would be very interested in a class action regarding the ILO brand. We purchased a 26" about a year ago and the remote stopped working about one month ago. We keep it in our bedroom and it is only used by adults so it has never been abused. What a joke and now I keep reading about the amount of problems and the lack of resolve on WalMart's part. Sign me up and let me know what's needed to do. All I want is a television that works with the remote. If the remote doesn't last, at least supply me with a universal code which ILO doesn't publish.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

RE: If anyone ever files a law suit
They're lying to you. They are well aware of the problem. We sent our 26" back TWICE now! Same problem both times. The first time they didn't even put the TV back together properly. They lied and told us "home office" will contact us. They lied and told us they'd replace the TV if it wasn't fixed the SECOND time. NOW THEY CLAIM THEY DON'T HAVE RECORDS OF OUR PHONE CALLS TO THE COMPANY. They are crooks. Where's the class-action lawsuit? |

iLo problems (China & Wal-Mart)
I just posted a request to Robin at CNN.com asking them to run a spot about how China is using Wal-Mart to steal money from unsuspecting American consumers through the sell of worthless electronics. From an engineering standpoint it looks like this... iLo builds 32" televisions (cost = $79 each) selling at Wal-Mart for $329.00. Making $250 for each one. Then they don't honor their return policy. If we apply that to 3000 sets we come to the conclusion that they are making $987,000. After this consumers will required to spend another $987,000 buying another television (likely place of production = China). Therefore, by selling an American a bad television they are making $658.00 per television or approx. 2 million per 3000 sets. It's an incredibly sweet deal for them. They make millions and no one is to blame for not being responsible for their products. I think that we are on the wrong side of the ocean. Oh how nice it would be to have politicians who actually protected us. That would really be nice. Just make a small law that if you sell something in the US, you have to make a small deposit. A small superfund to repair things for Americans if your company goes tango-uniform. As smart as our congress people are, and since they've given all of our jobs away. You'd think that they could make sure that we get the best buy for our bucks. |

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
You're right, no one can fix it including the company itself. Like I said, TWICE now we've sent it back. The first time they didn't even put the TV back together properly. Someone needs to figure out how to start a class action lawsuit. We've all been ripped off a ton of money. There's tons of threads on the net about this company. To the above poster, your TV lasted longer than anyone else's. |

ilo tv
I bought a ilo tv and I agree with everyone else that it is the worst tv ever. My tv has only lasted a year. I bought a two year warranty with it, but it has to be sent to New York to be fixed. It does not work at all. At first the volume went out now I can't even turn on the tv. My son bought one too. He has no sound. I would be interested in a lawsuit. These tv's are junk. |

RE: Walmart iLo garbage?
I am sitting here looking at one of the pieces of junk you are talking about. It reads cd's but not DVD's. I tried to take it back but it was more than three weeks old, then it was not serviced anymore, so I decided to buy another and take this one back... No longer stock the item. I have lost the remote or I would search for the self distruct sequence. I can give sympathy, but little else. I wonder idf there are enough for a class action? Soesn't take that many. Worked on the Panasonic DVD player I bought that quit. I guess I just pick the loosers and that one was $650. Not a piece of Walmart junk. As to the naysayers, If you purchase something you expect it to work. As for Ebay, I buy and sell there a lot and you find a lot of Walmart type things there too. Ever get a dud on Ebay and try to get it replaced?. |

RE: ILO repair
Interestingly enough, I also had an apex dvd player. It would play dvd's but not CD's. I still have it right under my ILO DVD recorder that will not read or write to DYD but loves CD's. Aint that a hoot. Wally said neither could be fixed. Lost the remotes to both and can't get any of the universals to work either. Deal me in on the class action. When we are done with that, how about Sony 8mm camcorders? Anyone got one that still works? I have 6 that don't. Seems the capacitors they used on the stepper motor controllers break down and cost about a yard and a half to replace. What the hell happened to quality? |

Still an issue?
I just purchased an Ilo 27 inch TV for my kids for Christmas, but now I feel like I should take it back today. It's still unopened and I bought the extended 2 yr warranty. I thought this meant that I could return it back to Walmart if there are any problems. If I cant do that, I'm taking it back today. |

iLo Walmart Garbage
I too have had the 32" CRT iLo Television for about 18 months. Then all of a sudden it just turned off. We tried waiting a couple of days then plugging it back in...but no luck. I have done some internet research and have noticed that $330 is just down the drain because I can never get my money back. I am an electronics Tech and am used to working on radar indicators and such...so I thought i would just take it apart to see what the problem was. Turns out it was just a small fuse on the circuit board. Went to the local Radio Shack and replaced it. Works just fine now...haven't had the problem with the channels though. I am going to research to see if they will just sell the circuit board. It seems to be an easy plug'n'play board. |

Finally. Got my remote to work!!
CODE 0463 worked for my ILO 27 inch model DTV2784 with my Comcast remote. after many day/weeks of searching. My remote went out about 2 months ago. i bought a universal, but did not work. Many posts said try the Emerson codes with the Universal remoes, but still did not work for mine. Try having a 8 year, 11 year, and 13 year old boys with no way for them to play video games or watch DVD's lol. Hope this helps at least a few out in the "Bad bad world" of the ILO tv. |

RE: ILO IS VIZIO BRAND NOW
I purchase and ilo 23" HDTV and it would not turn on, the indicator light on the front would be red when off. Then green when on. But it begain to not respond to the off and on button at all, then it would come on after many tries of powering off and back on. Now it shows a yellow color, flickers about 4 times and stays yellow when powered on. When powered off small flash on the screen and sound of powering off from the speakers. Well i went to wal mart to see about and exchange but they did not have in stock, and wasn't sure if they could get one.So i asked why and they said that the ilo, was now YOU GOT IT THE NEW VIZIO BRAND TV GO FIGURE WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE NAME. |

Now it is 2008 and no resolution to ilo problems..
Don't freak out...this is a little long, but stay with me!
I have been following this product dilemma for some time now through various consumer forums and many posts go back to early 2006. Until last month, I still saw ilo merchandise on the shelves of my local Wal-Mart. This is a product with countless problems, ones that were documented for 2+ years, caused innumerable instances of consumer and managerial grief and STILL, these less than acceptable products were continually ordered, shelved, and sold at Wal-Mart stores around the country. This has continued to occur despite adequate notification from consumers of the dramatic issues surrounding the ilo products.
You can think of an off-brand as sort of a "throw-away" attempt for a company to market new, and often cheaper goods. I say "throw-away" because if their name is spoiled, they can close the doors and fold up the company. Sort of like a bad ebay seller; after lots of bad feedback, they can close an account and re-register with a new name and a clean slate.
The brand name that is not disposable here is Wal-Mart. They are a powerhouse in selling consumer goods nationwide, yet they have sold and continue to sell BAD MERCHANDISE even following evidence of its unsatisfactory performance.
Furthermore, they have failed to live up to their self-made reputation of standing behind the consumer by accepting returns/exchanges on merchandise without a great deal of hassle. For problems of this magnitude to go unresolved by Wal-Mart is just not acceptable. I feel they (and/or ilo) need to be held accountable to the people who have suffered a significant financial loss due to a LACK OF ACTION after the problems presented themselves.
My degree is not in the laws and or ethics of commerce, however I am fairly certain that following proof of failed products, the continued production and sale of said goods is negligent and warrants action as well as penalties.
Relying on the theory of 6 degrees of separation, I ask you to contact me with the name of a representative and or information regarding HOW to proceed with such an action.
My e-mail address is as follows: ababstale@hotmail.com

ILO-32HD FIX!
Hi Mike here.. I share all your pain, but I took the OTHER ROAD.. I searched for OTHER OPTIONS then a class action suit,I just wanted the TV working again. Here's a trail of bread crumbs to lead the technical types here to their own repair IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO A BOARD SWAP!And a source for other iLo TV bits.Good Luck
Mike
iLo 32 motherboards research
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280198617648&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018
I have been dealing with Shop Jimmy.. and the service has been GREAT.. BUT.. the first board was the wrong model.. ( my fault ) the 2nd was was not 100%... but this is a good place for ILO parts Actually it's the only one I have found so far....
Ilo doesnt sell a service manual...
After the 3rd board that didn't work ( since they were orig iLo boards from broken, cust returns, warranty return TV's) Shop Jimmy gave me a FULL REFUND no Hassel's.. they are still a good source for power supplies & inverters (since these have a NORMAL FAILURE RATE) unlike the STOCK main board.

News update:ILO-32HD fix I was able to reach someone HELPFUL and KIND... Her name is RAYA @ ILO along with Remmy the tech guy. There is a new motherboard.. part # E22443 ( $176.99 ) This comes with a new remote RM 500
The deal is .. since I'm not a shop.. I buy the board.. it's mine! But I spoke with Remmy.. and this is the fix they do.
The total was $201.59 inc shipping & Arnold's cut from LaVerne CA to Valencia CA.
This is a better deal than shipping my unit $80 bucks, $149.99 for the tech to install the board + $170 for the board itself.
The remote is now using toshiba protocal's so it might be easier to to program your universal remote
Raya's number 1-909-392-5583 ( The voicemail system is a bit strange.. and you think your buying something from QVC.. but keep pressing the No I'm not function ( #2 ) and you will get to Tech support) The www.InitialDVD.com website is a joke & that number gets you to a not so helpful staff with I will not sell you a board, plus attitude. and they will NOT talk to you if you do not have your model # & serial number
( which WILL HELP dealing with Raya & Remmy)
I will keep you posted
Mike
Leap year evening
AND... ( drum roll please )
I recieved the new board today.. and I'm back 100% fully functional. So I suggest calling these guys for the SLAM DUNK FIX.The new board, looks much like the old board with some bodge ( Mod ) wires on the top & bottom.
This took me about a week to get here.. I hope it will help someone else!
Good luck
Mike |

My old iLo still works
This problem seemed to have developed in the 2nd generation iLo LCDs. I have had an iLo 3200, the predecessor to the 32HD when these problems started, for quite some time. Here we are, purchased in 11/05 and the set still works. In early 2006 they phased out the models without tuners and replaced them with the 32HD and successor models, after which the problems developed. I remember at the time wishing I'd waited for the set with the HD tuner, now looking back I'm glad I didn't I probably wouldn't be watching this TV today if had.
These sets have an obvious problem, they should just recall them and fix the problems, don't know why they don't. |

RE: Walmart iLo garbage?
yes i guess i got a walmart ilo garbage too, thank heaven i got extended warranty called today. take 3 to 5 days to get someone to fix it. After reading all feedback on these tvs there should be a recall. People work hard for there money. Expect to get a good product when purchased and should be compensated for loss that is products defects. |

Ilo is worth avoiding.
I've worked in the Wal-Mart electronics department for 3 years, and as time goes on I try to sway more and more customers away from Ilo products. Ilo is a Walmart house brand-another step towards trying to save the company money by selling supposed "quality" products for way less than other manufacturers. But as most find out, my 2 cents is worth more than whatever Ilo product they buy. I researched the brand when people started asking me who made them and I had no clue. As MORE time has gone on, I've noticed that many Ilo TV sets are set up exactly like numerous Emerson TV sets (i.e. the menus are exactly the same, etc.) I haven't found any info to back up my theory as to why the 2 brands are so similar, but I've owned a few Emerson products and have never had problems with them. |

I'm for a lawsuit
Had my ILO 42" LCD tv for 1 year and it goes non-responsive on my yesterday. Called ILO today and they try to tell me that its not their problem because the warranty ran out. I told them I have NEVER known a $1000 TV to go out in a year without it being DEFECTIVE. They didnt care. Tried to tell me that a lot of peoples tv's go out. So I'm down for a class action lawsuit. I still have my box and receipt. Gonna go talk to walmart tomorrow and tell them if they dont take it back Im goin to sit in front of their store with the tv and a sign saying 'I bought this crap here and it doesnt work...dont waste your money here' |

ilo plasma flat screen tv
I managed to get a number for the ilo tv situation. I bought a 27"wide screen LCD TV in Feb 2007. It is over a year old. I called the ilo number which is 1-800-289-2980. When I called this number the customer service person told me that my tv was not made by ilo but by Akai. I asked for a number for Akai. This number is 1-800=726-4405. The customer service representative was not very helpful. He would not give me the corporate office number nor the name of his boss. I paid over 600 dollars at Walmart for this tv, and I am outraged that it does not work now. Everyone seems to have the same problem as I do. Once you turn off this type of tv, it might not ever turn back on. I will not give up. I do not like to throw hard earned money out the door when it was the Akai corporation who should have done something for us. Please let me know if there are any suggestions out there for me. Outraged in NY.. |

RE: ILO does suck
Worse TV I have ever had
This was given to me as a Christmas gift in 2007, bought from Walmart ($700), less than 6 months, I noticed distortion of the picture in upper left hand corner. So, I went on the web looking for causes/problems. Did I ever get a wake up! Warranty not covering, I thought I will make the best of it, my problem was minor compared to others. Well today, turned tv on, heck of a racket after a few minutes, picture is all distorted and tv shuts off.Now turn on tv for about a minute, fine, then shuts down. Completely waste of money!

iLo 32" LCD
I bought it in Feb07 it died in Dec07. iLo received it on Feb 1st 2008. I am still waiting for it (Jul 8th, 2008). I have called more times than I can remember; I keep getting the ‘I’ll forward it up to corporate’ response. I'm sick of it! I don't even want the TV back anymore just my money refunded. I contacted the attorney listed above. I pray that they can make a case against iLo. |

Ilo 29" TV fix
Just successfully fixed one of these (well, it has been working OK for the last few weeks at least). When I opened up the TV, the fuse was blown. If you don't know what to be careful of when working inside a TV, you can do a web search and find info. Basically, be very careful around the high voltage lead that is clipped under the suction cup at the top of the tube.
I replaced the fuse (4A) and plugged it in. It blew immediately when the TV was plugged in - not even powered on. This told me the problem should be in the power supply. I pulled the board and desoldered one leg of each of the diodes in the bridge rectifier and found one that was shorted. Replaced the diode (IN5406) and replaced the board. Works great now.
I suspect that the manufacturer just got a bad batch of diodes. Try this fix (or take it to your local shop and ask them to check the rectifier diodes). The total fix was well under $10 for parts. While I was in there, I reflowed the solder on the flyback transformer and checked some of the capacitors (all were OK).
Best of luck.

RE: Walmart iLo garbage?
I realize this is an old posting, but was wondering if a class action suit is in place and how I go about becoming part of it. Eventhough, after reading some of the postings on this site, I consider myself one of the lucky ones because my tv stopped working after 1 1/2yrs. I have tried contacting both walmart and ilo and NO LUCK with either one. |

Walmart can recover a copy of the receipt for you if they will. They did do it for me 5 months after the purchase.
Good luck. |

Happy Customer
Well I'm very surprised that so many people have had serious issues with thier ILO TVs. I purchased their 32" TV last summer and it is still working beautifully with a very clear crisp picture. Their is one small problem however. Every now and then a black square appears on the screen out of nowhere. Very annoying. It does go away when I push the volume button on my remote. Strange. Very strange. Other than that I have had no problems. I should have known something was up though when the employee at Walmart told me to be sure and get the warranty. You do get what you pay for but hey, for $276 bucks I'm happy. I was going to buy another one this week but after stumbling across this page of complaints I think not.
Sorry guys.. |

RE: Attorney investigating class action
I have an iLO tv, less than one year old, with the same problems as the hundreds posted on Epinions (can't change channels or volume). I am interested in being a part of the class action suit. I purchased the TV in Texas, but live in Mesa, AZ now. Please let me know if you are proceeding with this action.

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
We bought my mother-in -law an ILO 27"SDTV - DTV2794B The MTS stereo tv for christmas last year. it last about a week past the 6 month return policy at Walmart in Danville,Va.,And they had stopped selling them.Wonder Why?dah....
We called all the numbers, seems we would have to take it to the nearest shop which was 150 miles away. And if they even thought something like lighting has hit it are we had a power surge then they would charge to repair it so we had to just junk it.So do not buy these tv's. Her's was working the night before, then just would not power on the next morning. It got hot all the time ,and would lose the programing.we would have to go and reset it for her .a lot. Guess we should have returned it after the first time it did that, but she wanted to keep it because us kids bought it for her. So if anyone hears of a class action, let me know.I'll gladly jump on the bandwagon.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVEN'T HAD A NATIONAL RECALL ON THESE TV'S.I personally thought Walmart was better then this.

RE: Ilo 29
Mine works as long as I push/hold the INPUT button on the side of the set. As soon as I release, the screen is blank.
Do you know how to break a parental control on the INPUT?
I've been told it sounds like a parental hold or the power supply ($60) or, the SMALL SIGNAL BOARD which is $200+.
I'm hoping for a parental control problem. I have disconnected everything and I'm waiting 24 hours before putting everything back on in hopes this will break the hold.
Any suggestions? Much appreciated for any help.

42" iLos tv don't work
My 42" plasma
went on me yesterday half the screen is black . but I have been plauging my self with the speakers about two months since I purchased it from Walmart 4 years ago.
When trying to find someo0ne to fix it I came across this information From Wikipedia,
Launched in 2004, iLo technologies is a Wal-Mart consumer electronics house brand.[1] Wal-Mart sells many low cost, entry-level consumer electronics products under the iLo name in stores and on Walmart.com. As with many house brands, no single company manufactures all iLo products.
CyberHome USA, an electronics manufacturer of iLo products, currently has their intellectual property, trademarks and domain names for sale, including www.iloservice.com,[2][3] after their California warehouse was raided by law enforcement in June 2006. A task force of local, state and federal agencies—led by the FBI—seized over 20,000 CyberHome-branded DVD players which Philips claimed used their patents without a license. The estimated retail value of the seized players is more than US$2 million.[4]
Not to be confused with "ILO Electronics", a German manufacturer of medical and industrial electronics or 'ilo' an art and design studio based in San Francisco.
Is there a class action suit? I would also be interested in joining. I doubt that I could get it repaired for less than a new set and if I do get it repaired I am sure something else would go on it fast. Oh by the way the www.iloservice .com link does not work. |

Too late to get resolved
We bought the ILO 32" almost 2 years ago and didn't really have problems til these past couple months. The screen burns way tooooooo easy now. So we have a really dark stripe right down the side. We hooked our tv up to our outside antenna and still can't receive digital or analog channels even though it says hdtv turner build in. I could call the manufacturer, but i'm not sure after this long if they would even do anything. So now my flat screen is a big paper weight. WILL NOT BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN! |

RE: iLo Walmart Garbage
I got my tv apart but did not find a fuse that I recognized. Is it in the power supply area with all the heat sinks? If so is it in the section close to the right side (if looking from the back) or is it in the center area?
I found writing stating that you need to use an identical fuse but was not able to distinguish. Please help.
The TV works but I can't adjust anything. I can turn it on and off. It is in the composite mode. no adjustments of any kind It doesn't look like a bad board but I guess it could be. I have had the TV about 2 years. Lost the TV Preview guide along time ago. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I want results now!!
I purchased a ilo TV also from walmart and it shut down on me all of a sudden. I purchased the tv as a christmas present to me and its not working now at all. I'm not letting anyone take money from me like this especially, WALMART!! If I don't get the proper answers very shortly, I will be seeking an attorney to start a class action suit. This is a promise!! Times are much to hard for me to let this go unattended.
If you are reading this message, I will be starting a blog soon unless I get the proper services from the dealer, WALMART and/or from their wholesale distributors who are located in California.

RE: We have the same problem as above
Ilo, Ilo, Ilo... I bought this 32 in TV from Walmart one night after I had saved up enough money to get one. I plugged it up and 3 weeks later I had to exchange it cause it didn't work properly. I had to drive an hour an a half to get this new tv of after 6 months of playing has finally died as well. Does anyone know of a good attorney for this type of thing? I have been on the sites now trying to see if I can get the tv fixed or have wal-mart exchange it. To no aveil, I have not. Now the tv just sits here. Can't move it cause it's too big for me to handle. I really wished I had not spent my hard earned money to getting this TV. Next time I'm gonna check the site, pay a little more, and NOT SHOP AT WAL-MART!!! |

the ILO problem again
I envy any of you who have enough expertise and energy to take the computer apart and put in new boards, card, fuses etc.
I am an 80 year old woman who is at the mercy of Wal-mart or a class action suit. My ILO 32"HD is 26 months old. I always thought it was a wonderful, clear TV. Guess what, it too turned itself "OFF" and cannot be started again. I will try some of the suggestions written here. No luck at the local Wal-mart. Let me know if a class action suit is started or any other advice would be appreciated. |

interesting situation
Amazing how many people have had problems. iLo 3200 purchased in November 2005 still working here. Watching it at this moment. Only problem I've had with it is the clock has never kept time since the day I bought it. This was never of enough concern to return the set, and at the time it was common for a panel this big to have quite a few dead pixels. Here we are however. Honestly looks nearly as good as a TV bought today, if not better, TVs of this size have been plagued by uneven backlighting in recent times. What I've determined in my research is that most of the problems surfaced after the 2600 and 3200, I think they use different control boards (the menus of the 3200 look like Samsungs of the era), afterwards they change in style, and the subsequent sets were the ones with the problems. I'm going to guess the lucky few who bought the early sets are still going strong, the not so lucky ones were not so lucky. |

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?
I would love to get in a class action also, this is junk and they know that they were having issues with them and still sold them anyway. Even after mine went out and I could not get them to take it back just to see what they would say I went and was looking at them like I wanted a new one. I ask how they were and every person there told me "I have never had even one problem reported, there great" Liars....There has to be someone that reads this that is a lawer and will take it on. Im in for sure. |

Walmarts ILO TV
I bought an ILo television from Walmart in February it is only July and the Television just went black, the TV comes on and off but no picture its as if the Tube has blown. I can not believe Walmart would sell such Garbarge to people and then not refund their money if their products fail. I will no longer shop there if they do not refund my money, I have no money for another Television at this time. Please someone help us file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. |

Ilo tv sets
All this whining about ILO tv sets and how junky they are.... well?...... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?
You buy cheap CHINESE JUNK and expect it to LAST?
Hasn't the dog food/lead childrens toys/AND GOD KNOWS ALL THE OTHER CHINESE JUNK wised ANYone up yet?
I fix tvs for a living, I know my trade well.
You people will never get those "class action" suits going.... the chinese are already laughing at you fools.
They've got your money, you got their JUNK.
Next time you think about "getting a bargain" at Walmart or any other place, expect to get a slap in the face down the road when that crap breaks down.
Spend some of that hard-earned American Money on a worthy product that IF it breaks, us technicians here IN THE USA can repair.
Keep the money in the STATES.
Now, tell me I'm full of crap. |

How to get back at Walmart for selling ILO 32" Crap
Very simple now that we all know that we have been screwed by Walmart and Ilo. I paid $850 for the Ilo 32" and it lasted 13 months.
SIMPLE SOLUTION:
Buy a new TV from Walmart, save receipt, return after 89 days (not one day late!)
Their return policy is for 90 days (confirm at your local Walmart), so buy a TV and return if after 89 days.
Here's the important part:
REPEAT PROCESS EVERY 89 DAYS!!
SCREW THEM! THEY SCREWED US!
FIGHT BACK! |

My ILO TV
I have one of these ILO tv’s from Wal-Mart. Mine is a DTV2794B and today, it started shutting its self off for no apparent reason. So, I decided to do some testing and collect some facts about this little anomaly.
Here is what I found:
A. The TV shuts down exactly 1:17 (1 minute, 17 seconds) after power on. That’s from the time I can see a picture, until the picture disappears. It doesn’t matter if the TV is cold or warm. (Turned it on after shut down 10 times using a stop watch, and then let it cool for 1 hour and repeated test.)
B. This is not a power fluctuation problem. I connected the TV to a voltage regulator, where I could monitor the voltage and current, and at no time do those 2 variables change. Well, at least not the voltage. The current fluctuates slightly as would be expected. I also tried plugging it into the back of my cable box, as well as the outlet directly with no change.
C. I tried these tests with the “Auto Shut Down” feature in the menu both on and off with no difference. (What’s that feature for again? Hmmm)
D. I tried it with sleep mode on at all intervals between 10 seconds and 1 hour with no difference except that at each instance of powering off the sleep mode resets to 0 after power on. (This may be the issue. It’s possible the sleep function is malfunctioning though this fact is not conclusive. It resets if I turn it off manually as well.)
So without opening the TV at all, (Something I’m loathing to do for this hunk of junk,) I was able to draw some interesting conclusions and I didn’t like any of them. At best, Wal-Mart has an unreliable piece of horse dung that has a serious design flaw from what I can see. At worst this TV could have possibly been designed to do exactly what it’s doing. You see, it’s about 2 months past the warranty date. Isn’t that interesting?
It could just be this particular TV has a malfunctioning chip in it, and it could be one in a million for all I know, and if that is the case, then so be it.
However, I thought that if YOU were having this problem with YOUR ILO TV, you could put a stop watch to it and just see how long it stays on. Anywhere near 1:10 to 1:20 and this could be a sign of a serious problem. Especially if your unit is just past the warranty time. |

ILO 32HD
I have had my ILO 32HD since 2006 without any problems. The only thing I did not like about it was the remote. Now I am trying to program the cable remote to it and cannot find the code. The code in the manual for the cable that it gives is 055 and that does not work. Anyone know anymore remote codes for the ILO???? |

Model DTV2794B
Purchased in Dec. 08 as a gift. TV was unplugged in June while our son was at Basic Training, returned in Oct. plugged back in and now has no picture. Is still covered under manufacture warranty but cannot get a response back from company. I know we are to blame because this is not the first item from walmart to turn out like this. If it plugs in and its from walmart its gonna be junk. Bottom line!!!! |

ILO tv
Our ilo tv has stopped working. We have contacted Walmart numerous times via the 1-800 number. Unfortunately, we are getting the proverbial run around. I have called the district representative Mr. Gillipse in Illinois, still I have not been compensated for our lost. The tv was purchased about 24 months ago. It malfunction to no fault of our own. It became increasingly hot and went off, never to come on again. It is beyond belief that Walmart has not recalled this product or have a procedure in place to compensate patrons for such an inept product. Moreover, the product is dangerous. It's possible that it could have caught on fire. There are ilo tvs out there in peoples homes that will malfunction violently. Walmart must do something! |
