RE: ILO does suck

Worse TV I have ever had

This was given to me as a Christmas gift in 2007, bought from Walmart ($700), less than 6 months, I noticed distortion of the picture in upper left hand corner. So, I went on the web looking for causes/problems. Did I ever get a wake up! Warranty not covering, I thought I will make the best of it, my problem was minor compared to others. Well today, turned tv on, heck of a racket after a few minutes, picture is all distorted and tv shuts off.Now turn on tv for about a minute, fine, then shuts down. Completely waste of money!

iLo 32" LCD

I bought it in Feb07 it died in Dec07. iLo received it on Feb 1st 2008. I am still waiting for it (Jul 8th, 2008). I have called more times than I can remember; I keep getting the ‘I’ll forward it up to corporate’ response. I'm sick of it! I don't even want the TV back anymore just my money refunded. I contacted the attorney listed above. I pray that they can make a case against iLo.

Ilo 29" TV fix

Just successfully fixed one of these (well, it has been working OK for the last few weeks at least). When I opened up the TV, the fuse was blown. If you don't know what to be careful of when working inside a TV, you can do a web search and find info. Basically, be very careful around the high voltage lead that is clipped under the suction cup at the top of the tube.

I replaced the fuse (4A) and plugged it in. It blew immediately when the TV was plugged in - not even powered on. This told me the problem should be in the power supply. I pulled the board and desoldered one leg of each of the diodes in the bridge rectifier and found one that was shorted. Replaced the diode (IN5406) and replaced the board. Works great now.

I suspect that the manufacturer just got a bad batch of diodes. Try this fix (or take it to your local shop and ask them to check the rectifier diodes). The total fix was well under $10 for parts. While I was in there, I reflowed the solder on the flyback transformer and checked some of the capacitors (all were OK).

Best of luck.

RE: Walmart iLo garbage?

I realize this is an old posting, but was wondering if a class action suit is in place and how I go about becoming part of it. Eventhough, after reading some of the postings on this site, I consider myself one of the lucky ones because my tv stopped working after 1 1/2yrs. I have tried contacting both walmart and ilo and NO LUCK with either one.

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?

Walmart can recover a copy of the receipt for you if they will. They did do it for me 5 months after the purchase.

Good luck.

Happy Customer

Well I'm very surprised that so many people have had serious issues with thier ILO TVs. I purchased their 32" TV last summer and it is still working beautifully with a very clear crisp picture. Their is one small problem however. Every now and then a black square appears on the screen out of nowhere. Very annoying. It does go away when I push the volume button on my remote. Strange. Very strange. Other than that I have had no problems. I should have known something was up though when the employee at Walmart told me to be sure and get the warranty. You do get what you pay for but hey, for $276 bucks I'm happy. I was going to buy another one this week but after stumbling across this page of complaints I think not.

Sorry guys..

RE: Attorney investigating class action

I have an iLO tv, less than one year old, with the same problems as the hundreds posted on Epinions (can't change channels or volume). I am interested in being a part of the class action suit. I purchased the TV in Texas, but live in Mesa, AZ now. Please let me know if you are proceeding with this action.

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?

We bought my mother-in -law an ILO 27"SDTV - DTV2794B The MTS stereo tv for christmas last year. it last about a week past the 6 month return policy at Walmart in Danville,Va.,And they had stopped selling them.Wonder Why?dah....
We called all the numbers, seems we would have to take it to the nearest shop which was 150 miles away. And if they even thought something like lighting has hit it are we had a power surge then they would charge to repair it so we had to just junk it.So do not buy these tv's. Her's was working the night before, then just would not power on the next morning. It got hot all the time ,and would lose the programing.we would have to go and reset it for her .a lot. Guess we should have returned it after the first time it did that, but she wanted to keep it because us kids bought it for her. So if anyone hears of a class action, let me know.I'll gladly jump on the bandwagon.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVEN'T HAD A NATIONAL RECALL ON THESE TV'S.I personally thought Walmart was better then this.

RE: Attorney investigating class action

Looking to see if there is an attorney out there willing to take on a class action suit against ilo/Walmart. There are too many of us who have been ripped off with these sets.

RE: Ilo 29

Mine works as long as I push/hold the INPUT button on the side of the set. As soon as I release, the screen is blank.
Do you know how to break a parental control on the INPUT?
I've been told it sounds like a parental hold or the power supply ($60) or, the SMALL SIGNAL BOARD which is $200+.

I'm hoping for a parental control problem. I have disconnected everything and I'm waiting 24 hours before putting everything back on in hopes this will break the hold.

Any suggestions? Much appreciated for any help.

RE: ILO Walmart Class Action anyone?

I would gladly join a class action suit as I spent about 850 on an ILO and now, after 1 year, it doesn't work.

42" iLos tv don't work

My 42" plasma

went on me yesterday half the screen is black . but I have been plauging my self with the speakers about two months since I purchased it from Walmart 4 years ago.
When trying to find someo0ne to fix it I came across this information From Wikipedia,
Launched in 2004, iLo technologies is a Wal-Mart consumer electronics house brand.[1] Wal-Mart sells many low cost, entry-level consumer electronics products under the iLo name in stores and on Walmart.com. As with many house brands, no single company manufactures all iLo products.

CyberHome USA, an electronics manufacturer of iLo products, currently has their intellectual property, trademarks and domain names for sale, including www.iloservice.com,[2][3] after their California warehouse was raided by law enforcement in June 2006. A task force of local, state and federal agencies—led by the FBI—seized over 20,000 CyberHome-branded DVD players which Philips claimed used their patents without a license. The estimated retail value of the seized players is more than US$2 million.[4]

Not to be confused with "ILO Electronics", a German manufacturer of medical and industrial electronics or 'ilo' an art and design studio based in San Francisco.
Is there a class action suit? I would also be interested in joining. I doubt that I could get it repaired for less than a new set and if I do get it repaired I am sure something else would go on it fast. Oh by the way the www.iloservice .com link does not work.

Too late to get resolved

We bought the ILO 32" almost 2 years ago and didn't really have problems til these past couple months. The screen burns way tooooooo easy now. So we have a really dark stripe right down the side. We hooked our tv up to our outside antenna and still can't receive digital or analog channels even though it says hdtv turner build in. I could call the manufacturer, but i'm not sure after this long if they would even do anything. So now my flat screen is a big paper weight. WILL NOT BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN!
