RE: class action suit chase bank
Have you made any progress with your Class Action suit? We've just had a nightmare experience with Chase. . .same as many others -- Chase just deciding to increase the rates to 29.99% without notice. Also had a perfect payment record for 7 years . . . but they used the 'credit risk' excuse. We also found out they had somehow enrolled us in a $150 'payment protector' plan -- how this happened we have no idea. . . we certainly wouldn't have enrolled in one. Long story but would like to know if you are making progress with your case. I'm sure there are many people who would applaud/join you. . .

RE: class action suit chase bank
I am ready to join you! I'm seeking legal advice A.S.A.P!! I know a few people who would probably be willing to do the same. Have you contacted a lawyer? Do you know any information about class action suits in matters like this? I will not rest until I have been compensated for my troubles and the time I have spent arguing with them and stressing, I will never get back! I am beyond furious! Any information you may have regarding these issues we have both had, would be greatly appreciated. I'm one of those people who has never, and thought I never would have any reason to sue any company, but they have ignited a fire in me and I will not stand for their unjust practices any longer! |

Class Action
I am with you on this issue. What needs to be done to get a suit started against Chase? Maybe a few attorneys will get stung with the bait and switch activity of Chase. Maybe some attorney will find his rate is suddenly 29% without cause.
Chase is a bottom dweller hiding behind thousands of 800#'s to nowhere and nobody.
I have had all I can take from this company, they call and hang up, then call back and say I am past due, when I am not. They claim the billing date changes from month to month. One supervisor told me that past due means one minute after midnight on the day before the due date. Then it was that my electronic payment was not received until after 4:00 pm on the due date. Then she suggested that I pay a few days early just in case.
Fraud! Harassment! Defamation of credit!

RE: class action suit chase bank
I am very interested in this class action against Chase.I am ready to go for it. I am so fed up with them. I have been a credit card customer of theirs for about 15 yrs with not one late payment ever on theirs or any of my other accounts. My credit score is around 700. They raised my rate from 13% to 23.99&!!! I have went round and round with them and they refuse to change it back. The higher rate applies to my existing balance not just future purchases. That is beyond unfair. They are the greediest most nastiest bank ever. They said they did it bacause my balance is higer now. Thats funny because they did it to my mother too who has perfect credit and a zero balance with them. If anyone has any information about any class action please respond. Chase has got to be stopped. I am certainly willing to put a lot of time and work in to stopping them. |

Class action
If someone can get in touch with a legal representative to start a class action against Chase, I will be glad to join and provide all the information about my case. Apparently, there seems to be quite a few people who are screwed by this bank. |

Chase Bank- PLACED FOR COLECTION ACCOUNT CURRENT
Chase bank bought out Credit One bank. Statement got screwed up. Received call in 2/07 that account was placed for collection. Account was current and up to date. NEVER informed by Chase of their intentions or actions, Contacted Chase, they indicated account was placed for collection in 2/05. No indication for Chase that ever happened. Continue to receive statements from Chase, continued to make payments to Chase, account current but placed, in Violation of Fair Credit Reporting Act. |

Also burned by Chase
Another victim of Chase poor business practice.
I will support action against them, HOWEVER -
We also need to be doing something in addition to that.
I know Chase does not care the least about us here, because we are "preaching to the choir".
I will be looking for other areas to raise the general public knowledge of this issue - does anyone else have any ideas?
Would it be worth the time to promote this on Clark Howard's website?

Monthly Finance Charge on Promo
I agree - a class action lawsuit is in order.
I have a 4.99% promo life of note and they have decided to begin charging a $10 monthly finance fee on my account in January, effectively bumping the rate up to about 12%. Have not been late nor over limit. This was not what I agreed to - they have broken their own contract. |

RE: Monthly Finance Charge on Promo
Also slighted by Chase Bank. I agreed to a no annual fee account and a fixed promo rate for the life of the payoff.
I've just been advised in the fine print, unlike the flashy offers, that I'll incur a $10 per month fee beginning in January 2009, for no apparent reason.
Seems like breach of contracted offer, to me. |

RE: Monthly Finance Charge on Promo
I have the same complaint. This is definitely a BREACH OF CONTRACT and very unfair practice.
I have a 5.99% fixed promo until balance paid in full. Also, when I opend the account 10+ years ago I agreed to a no annual fee account EVER. Now they want to impose a $10 month fee beginning in January 2009 and up the minimum payment from 2% to 5%!!!
How ridiculous, do they intentionally want to create a crisis. How many people would default under these terms which they would then jack up your rates to the DEFAULT rate of 30% +/-
I'm for creating a class action lawsuit to serve a larger purpose. For ex., Federal Regulation to limit the maximum rate to 9.99%, helping those in trouble by lowering their rates rather than increasing it to the DEFAULT rates, and etc. THESE DEFAULT RATES ARE JUST RIDICULOUS AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PUT A STOP TO IT!!!
I ENCOURAGE ANYONE WHO HAS A COMPLAINT WITH CREDIT CARDS TO ADDRESS THEIR COMPLAINTS TO THE FOLLOWING AUTHORITIES. THEN SOMETHING COULD BE DONE BY LAWMAKERS.
1) Enter a complaint to your state's attorney general's office. You can find links to your state's AG website at naag.org.
2) Report the company to the Better Business Bureau. Submit your case for dispute resolution online at www.bbb.org.
3) Report the company to your elected representatives. You can find their email / mailing addresses at www.house.gov and www.senate.gov. Note that the banking industry (which is comprised mostly of credit card companies) has a lot of power in Washington, D.C. in the form of lobbyists and contributions to election campaigns. Despite this fact, your elected officials are more afraid of you because you can vote them out of office. If you think contacting them is a waste of time you're wrong. Someone will read your correspondence -- if enough complaints are received something will be done about it.
4) Report the company to banking regulators. Their mailing address is Division of Credit Practices, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, D.C. 20580 or file a complaint online at www.ftc.gov.

chase..fine print and a pound of flesh
Not to long ago, Chase credit badgered me with almost daily offers and credit deals. I took advantage of a low apr of 3.99% for the life of the loan. I have a credit score of 795, I have never been late with a payment, and always pay more than the minimum amount.
So when I got the "Important Notice Regarding Changes To Your Account, I read it carefully. Then I spent over 30 minutes on the phone trying to understand exactly why I was going to be charged a $10 monthly "service charge/Finance fee" as of January.
If you received one of these, alarms should go off when you read: "These charges are finance charges, and they will be added to the balance for purchases on your account."
NOTE the new "service charge/finance fees" are not subject to the low promotional apr but to your higher "purchases apr"....Ms. Coulter, the Chase service manager, pointed out that my purchases apr is only 7.99%.....TY Ms C., but I also understand that the apr for purchases is subject to variable rates and can and will change at the will of Chase (just like our low promotional for the life of the loan rate) and tacking a yearly $120 finance charge (that does not effect my low apr, so they say) with the associated and un-calculated interest at the higher "purchases rate" rather than the promotional rate leaves me, and the service representative supervisor wondering exactly how much additional "fees & interest" I will need to pay over the life of the loan.
I do not need to pay a $120 fee to have a credit card, I certainly do not need to also pay interest on that fee based on my "purchases" rate over the life of what was once a low interest promotion Chase really wanted me to take advantage of.
The service representative supervisor Ms. Coulter then offered to modify my account to a 7.99% promotional apr with no $10 per month service fee but with a limited time for repayment in full.
Mostly, Chase repeatedly encouraged me to pay the balance and close the account. I am not the type of person they want to do business with. I do not borrow more than I can afford to pay back. Chase only wants customers who are as irresponsible in their personal finances as Chase has been in its investments.
I will do as the Customer Service Supervisor encouraged me to do...close my account, but it is hard to tell what date I have to do it by.
"The monthly service charge is nonrefundable unless you notify us that you wish to close your account within 30 days of the date we mail your billing statement on which the service charge is imposed and at the same time, you pay your outstanding balance in full."
The billing statements are machine processed and there is no date on the envelope....when did they mail the statement I received today? .. there is no indication on the statement either....except that the bill is for 10/15/08 - 11/14/08.....today is 11/21
HMMMMmmmmmm...maybe I will have to make another 35 minute phone call to a Chase service rep to find out.
If you have the time call Chase, hold them on the line as you read their "changes to your account statement" aloud to them until you both understand every little nuance of the change...then ask to speak to a supervisor and do it again.
Take up their time, ask questions, take names, and then contact your state attorney general. |

RE: chase..fine print and a pound of flesh
I have the same issue with Chase. I have a credit score over 700, never a late payment or any other issue and they want to charge me $10. a month and raise the payment to 5%/ balance on a 'Life of Loan' charge. I think their scam is they expect you to keep using their card after you transfer a balance at the low rate so they can whack you on balances at a higher rate. When you don't add any higher rate purchases they want to get rid of you. They are the worst and I would love to participate in a class action suit! |

Even Worse
I can't close my Chase account. It is paid in full, and every month I owe an additional $4.00. At the bottom of the statement it says my APR is 179.91%. I kid you not. I am paying 179.91% on zero dollar balance, and somehow I owe them $4.00. They are idiots! |

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
The current "change in terms" issue that imposes monthly service charge and increases minimum due to 5% of balance without any seeming option to opt out is indeed an intentional abrogation of previous terms agreed. If immediate Federal actions are not taken to stop it, an increased national crisis will be imposed by Chase in January. Possibly millions of cardholders will be forced into default at the huge default rates. People agreed to low interest balance transfers based on their ability to repay those transfers within existing pay-off schedules. This is an attempt by Chase to reverse low interest loans by imposing service charges effectively raising the rate AND effectively force people into default situations (by increasing amounts payable), whereby Chase can not only impose default rates on existing Chase accounts, but ruin credit scores and standing across the credit spectrum, allowing most other credit card issuers to increase their rates to default level. The unexplained "risk" issues vaguely referenced in Chase's announcement have no bearing on current credit scores, nor perfect payment records for over ten years as in my case.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (oversight of banks such as Chase) can be reached as follows:
You can reach one of the OCC Customer Assistance Specialists by calling our toll free number, 1-800-613-6743, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Central Time or by sending an email to Customer.Assistance@occ.treas.gov
Your State's Attorney General website can be found at
naag.org
The United States Attorney General can be contacted at
http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/contact.html
Your State District's Federal Congressman can be found at
http://www.house.gov/
Any serious attempts to stop Chase from destroying further the US economy (while benefiting from taxpayer bailouts) through Class Action will be noted. All those listed above must be contacted (with proof) to bring this matter to the correct authorities. Ask them to forward you concerns if they are not the proper party and inform you of the proper party. It is likely an antitrust violation, etc. |

Breach of Contract Done to Me Too ($10 Fee and Raise from 2% to 5%)
Thanks to everyone who is posting so intelligently about Chase's $10 monthly fee and 2% to 5% monthly minimum increase. This exact thing is happening to me, along with Chase's offer to stay at 2% with a 7.9% APR.
I plan to follow up in every way that everyone has suggested. My question is: how can a class action law suit be initiated? Do a group of individuals have to agree to approach an attorney? What actions need to be taken to get this started?
Thanks. |

JP MORGAN CHASE COLLAGE
This is what a friend of mine received this summer:
"Use these balance transfer checks to take advantage of these super-low rates today.
• Save by transferring balances from higher APR accounts.
• Write a check to yourself
• Go on a well-deserved vacation
• Make home improvements"
This what she read in October:
“$25 Billion is going to Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and Citigroup”
This what she received in November (from Chase):
"Beginning January 2009, we will be adding a monthly service charge of $10 to select accounts. We will also be increasing the minimum payment from 2 percent to 5 percent."
This what she received yesterday:
"Sound financial planning is the first step toward a successful future. Chase Clear & Simplesm provides valuable tools, insights and information that can help you reach your goals. Get started with these useful calculators
Use this calculator to see what it will take to pay off your credit card balance, and what you can change to meet your repayment goals, etc."
What is she doing today? Looking forward to a class action.

Chase Bank $10 Finance Charge
As several of the other posts have indicated, I too have a promotional low interest rate for the life of the loan and have always paid well above the minimum, never been late, and have a very high credit score. I have never bounced a check or been late with any account I have ever had. I called Chase and was told that with 30 day notice, they can do whatever they want and that the $10 monthly "finance" charge whether there is a balance or not is very legal. The rep offered me to raise my apr for the loan to 7.9% for one year and they would waive the $10 monthly fee. That wasn't going to happen. It seems that there are all sorts of offers, none of which benefits the consumer. I received an e-mail from Chase that they wanted to send there good customers a free gift. I returned the e-mail with my comments that I already received the $10 finance charge gift and never heard another word. With all of the bailout money going to the banks, I feel that the people who pay their bills on time and in full and only borrow what they can repay are being punished by these banks to pay off their poor credit issuing to people who cannot pay. Once I can pay this loan off next year, Chase will lose my business, not that they care!
Where is the government oversite for these types of bank fraud. |

chase lies+service fees
i am asking everyone i can, as should you all out there..lets make an example of chase..they want to change contracts with legal mumbo jumbo..fine...we can all beat them at there own game..don't ruin your credit...just close all active savings and checking accounts with their bank,ie wamu also...the number of depositers is their lifeline...please tell everyone you know to close all of their savings and checking accounts, and every other investment vehicle, except your credit card accounts... leave these open but do not add to the balances and only pay the exact amount due + 1penny...it will be a calling card to protest this action which will only get worse..go to another bank but let chase know why you are leaving...as their depositors decrease this hampers their abilities by federal law, as to what they can do..it will hurt them......... |

RE: Chase Bank $10 Finance Charge
I have also received Chase's little Christmas present. The $10 service charge fee plus the increase in payment amount. A few years ago I was going to close my account with CHASE but was able to lock in a 3.99% rate for the life of the balance. Now I am told that I will be paying $10 a month for service charge fees. I called and spoke to CHASE and they said due to the market they have to issue a $10 fee to keep such low rates. My options were payoff the balance before Jan 2009 and close the account, let CHASE raise my rate to prime and they would waive the $10 fee but keep the increase in pay back amount. I told them I didn't agree with what they were doing and that they have not left me with much choice other than to close the account...the rep said that would be less overhead for CHASE. NOT COOL CHASE....NOT COOL... I have made payments for more than I needed to and have ALWAYS!!!! paid on time. I believe a class action lawsuit is in order for what they are trying to do. You cant offer people something and then down the road figure out that oh crap that hurts we need to now make people pay for the dumb mistake we did. Getting bail out money from the government...tax payers was not enough...now you have to take...steal from people. If anyone out there knows how to start a class action lawsuit...We would gladly sign our names on the list. |

Never received a bill
I am so angry with Chase. I really believe that they intentionally did not send me my email statement reminders so as to be able to charge me late fees. I never had a problem with getting the notices...no change in email or anything...and then all of a sudden, I mysteriously stop getting them (not just for one account, but for all 3). I check my email several times a day, and my spam folder at least once a day. This, of course, "mysteriously" coincides with their financial problems, and means that I have incurred a whopping bowl full of late and finance charges, because, stupid me, depended on getting those statements. They said it was my responsibility to go online and check my balance on their website, and that they had no way to ensure that every customer gets their statements. The real kicker is there is no way to prove the absence of something. What am I going to file a compliant with the BBB about? How could I possibly prove that I didn't get the statements? I can't, and I'm sure they know that.
Always paid my statements off each month. Never a problem. I'm sure this means that I was more "overhead" for them, and that this was a way to get rid of me. Needless to say, I have canceled all 3 accounts I had with them, but that doesn't stop me from being incensed. Do I have any recourse at all?
If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it. |

Chase and its unscrupulous business practices
I, too, am a victim of the recent actions by Chase. My response has been to launch an all-out effort to confront this matter, from every direction that I can. I do not have a lot of faith in any one approach. Our government has indeed failed to protect consumers. It's actually quite astounding that credit card companies can engage in these practices.
Can you imagine, what would happen if a car loan or lease payment could suddenly increase from $239/month to $589/month? Well, that's pretty close to what my new payment with Chase is going to look like.
As for me, I am not a programmer, but in the past two weeks I have been working like crazy on a Website called Change in Terms dot com. I have been posting links to advocacy organizations (where I have sent letters, too), and my letter to the CEO of Chase Card Services. I have a page on the site that lists steps that you can take as well.
My own story is in the letter and on the site, but to make it brief, I am just an ordinary middle class citizen (who has done nothing wrong), like you. I am presently a college professor (and my debts are primarily associated with going to graduate school at mid-career). I'll be putting more and more up on the site, but I think about ten thousand stories in small local papers where you all live with a title such as, How the Chase Card Services Grinch Stole Christmas, has some appeal.
Get going, you must act fast. Call your local paper and pitch the story before Christmas. To do this, call a columnist or an editor and ask for an appointment (better), or present your ideas on the phone. |

Contacting the Attorney General
I have contacted the Attorney General's Office in the State of North Carolina, where I have a residence (I also have a home in Tennessee, which we have been trying to sell due to my new place of employment). I was told that the state where a consumer sends his or her bill is actually the place to submit a complaint. The Executive Office for Chase Card Services is in Elgin, IL. Therefore, I am under the impression that this is the State to which one would submit a complaint.
I do not think it is a complete waste of time to send a complaint to your own state's Attorney General. In my instance, I found out that the NC Attorney General also happens to be Co-Chair of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Consumer Protection Committee. The bad news is that with recent stories of corruption high up in the State of Illinois, I personally have some cynicism. Further, credit card companies don't locate in a particular state purely by chance; they have situated themselves in places where they can get away with abusing customers, on purpose.
UPDATE TO THE POST ABOVE: Still some confusion unresolved over the holiday weekend. It may be Delaware (Chase Card Services Executive Offices are in IL, but at least some, if not all, checks that customers send in as payments on credit card accounts go to Delaware -- I know some of our payments used to go to IL; we'll all figure this out together).

Chase Card...BAH HUMBUG
Me too
800 FICO, Never late. 5% takes my $400 payment to over $900
30 day notice, at Christmas, 3 days before my daughter's wedding.
Chase say's this is reasonable.
Attorney General says talk to OCC
OCC, State Congressman and Senator do not even respond.
Talk shows, Newspapers not interested.
My fault for charging up the card...except, I didn't. I transferred a second mortgage balance after Chase solicited me and promised that the transferred balance would not be subject to the terms of the credit card agreement that the use of the card would be.
Banks,Politicians,Media...all the same.
They are the Morlocks, we the Eloi. |

Contacted CHASE
I called and talked to a rep at CHASE on Dec.28th and requested an explanation for the $10 service charge per month. She was not able to tell me anything more than due to the market they have to charge this fee. I asked why only certain CHASE accounts were affected with this fee and she asked what I meant. I explained that I have family members that have CHASE accounts and they have not been notified about these new changes. She then said that oh...these changes are only on certain accounts...these changes will affect around 400,000 accounts. So I asked why are some being charged and others are not and she said that she was not sure. I then asked how the $10 fee will appear on my bill and she said it would show up as a Finance Charge....A finance charge...I asked, is that not the same as were my APR charges show up...She said yes...which goes to show you...Yes they are leaving your low rate APRs alone...so they are holding up to their end of the bargain but what they have done is make up some type of fee (Service Charge Fee) that will make up for the low interest rates they have promised people on balances. Sounds like highway robbery to me....Its pretty pathetic that CHASE can get bailout cash and then still treat customers like trash. I have contacted the VA Attorney General but have not heard anything back regarding my questions. I am currently figuring out how to transfer my balance off to a company that does not screw you over...I will never deal with CHASE or recommend them to anyone. As long as I can speak I will never recommend them. |

Chase Master Card Nightmare
I'm amazed that Chase continues to mistreat their customers, with bait and switch tactics and a one or two day late payment results in significant costs to the consumer -- their customer service reps have all been trained with the same dogma and obviously NONE of them can impact anything OR they would face serious issues within the company if they were to alter the company stance.
Chase has taken a considerable amount of the TARP (bailout) monies that we consumers will ultimately bear the cost of, while they continue to use unfair (and soon to be illegal -- hurry up 2010!) practices.
Whoever initiated this strean, PLEASE advise all of us the next steps that should be taken to initiate a class action suit and how we can participate. I believe our collective voice can make a difference. I also agree that publicity about their practices could have a large impact on their bottom line. Let's go forward!!! |

Destroy Chase
I'm in the same boat - I took them up on their offer, I pay more than the minimum on time every month on every card I have, and *WHAM*! Chase decides that I'm just not profitable enough for them. Too fu@#ing bad, Chase - you made an agreement, so ABIDE by it! What if I arbitrarily decided that I'd rather have a 0.00% rate than the 5.99% rate? Yeah, good luck to me.
I'm SO ready to join a class action too...if anyone has the contacts to get the ball rolling, please let me know and I'll do whatever I can to help!
It's time to take our country back, and cutting off Chase's ability to screw customers and dishonor contracts is a big step in the right direction! How can they get away with this? What if they decided to impose a $100 monthly fee instead? What about $500? Where do their rights end? I'm in southern California if that makes a difference to anyone.
LET CHASE KNOW HOW MUCH THEY SUCK AND LET'S BANKRUPT THESE SOB'S!
It's time to revolt against these greedy, unscrupulous mother&%*kers. Call Chase 100 times a day at 800-537-7783 (they pay for the call, so make it as long as you can!), ask to be transferred from supervisor to supervisor, have them read the terms of your agreement to you, send payments in coin, mail back their offers in their own business reply envelopes stuffed with as much crap as you can (I hear cockroaches love to travel via US mail!), and waste their time and money the same way they're stealing ours. I think they may be going bankrupt - spread the word to the financial community! Be creative - this is an all-out financial war being waged by conniving, scheming corporate thieves like Jamie Dimon (JPM/Chase CEO) and Gordon Smith (Chase Credit Card Services CEO)...take no prisoners!
And don't forget to file official complaints with the Comptroller of the Currency (the main government agency for this sort of thing) and others below:
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (oversight of banks such as Chase) can be reached as follows: OCC Customer Assistance Specialists are available by calling 1-800-613-6743, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Central Time or by sending an email to Customer.Assistance@occ.treas.gov - and you can also find the form for official complaints (it must be mailed or faxed) at http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/complaints/index.html

Class action? I'm in!
I've been reading this thread and a couple others, and I think we have the makings of a class action suit.
Some posters have pointed to the term in the cardmember agreement that says Chase can change the terms any time it wants to, thinking that it really can change the terms any time it wants to. One post I read said something like "if this term allows them to add a $10 monthly charge, they can add a $100 monthly charge, and if they can increase the minimum payment to 5%, they can increase it to 100%." This is exactly why the term is unconscionable, and unconscionable terms are unenforceable under the law of Contracts.
Someone also said something like what Chase is doing is legal. Well, that's not entirely accurate. What Chase is doing may not be a crime, but it certainly is against the law.
Folks, we may not be able to get the government to change the laws or prosecute Chase in criminal court. We may not be able to get anybody at Chase thrown in jail. We may not be able to tell Chase we're going to force it to pay us more interest on money we have on deposit with its banks (read: money WE have loaned THEM). We may not be able to organize 120,000 card members to all default at once.
BUT we CAN do something about this.
I've taken the inititive and contacted a public interest law firm about the possibility of starting a class action suit. I'll update you with a post on this thread when I get a response.

I'm ready to join the class action
I'm in the same boat - 3.99% for the life of the loan; 2% of outstanding balance, taken out in November, 2005. Never missed a payment, never made a late payment.
If there was a notice of changes to the terms, I never saw it.
My payment due and made on December 21, 2008 was $416. Chase wants $1,025 for January's payment - on increase of 246%. I don't have that much extra money and I don't want to be blackmailed into upping the interest rate to keep the payments lower.
I filed an immediate complaint with the PA attorney general only to be told that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is the agency that handles national banks.
Of interest: Chase received 25 BILLION dollars of TARP money from the feds. I spent some time today looking up news stories about Chase and discovered that they have been accepting pennies on the dollar of debt owed by thousands of their customers, reducing interest rates, and stretching out payments, waiving late fees - all for risky consumers who are having trouble paying their credit card bills. I am outraged that Chase is putting the squeeze on me - a customer who has never been late or missed a payment EVER.
Sign me up for the class action suit. |

not surprised any more
My family has gone around and around with these 'guys' for years. Finally, thought I solved their abuse by taking advantage of a low, fixed-rate offer. Now, of course, the monthly fee, etc. etc. when have been paying great and have great credit. Somebody said this new fee affects 400,000 of their customers. At $10 (not including the additional 'convenience check' fee, raising the minimum from 2% to 5%, etc.), that's $4 MILLION PER MONTH OF RIPOFF MONEY!!! A class action suit is definitely needed. |

Chase Bank
I search for information of any class action law suits against Chase Bank. When Chase Bank bought out my previous bank, Chase simply lowered my account caps so that my credit card account and personal loan balances were above their new caps and they immediately began imposing penalties. They also removed my overdraft protection and began applying $35 per overdraft fees. They also pile up transactions for days to hit just before a timed deposit.
My credit went from premier to zero.
Thank you |

Another Chase Horror Story
I am an unemployed disabled senior citizen. Unemployment benefits are no longer paid by check, they are paid with a Mastercard Debit Card issued by (tah-dah) Chase. On December 26 I tried to withdraw $200 from my $400 accumulated benefits, so that I could pay my fuel bill. I used the ATM located at 301 Wall Street in Kingston, NY. It dispensed the money and then IMMEDIATELY sucked it back into the ATM and gave me a fraudulet receipt that I had received $200. I refused to leave the bank without my money, since I had a receipt I had received it. I was arrested. Thus far my expenses to recover my $200 at over $1000. Class action, anyone? |

Update on Chase
My last contact with Chase I found out more info regarding the new $10 fee. This is only the beginning from what I gathered from the rep. I say this because I demanded an explanation of why some account holders were being charged this new fee and others were not. She explained that Chase is starting with the lower interest card holders and then will begin charging all Chase card holders. So anyone with a Chase card regardless of what your rate is better watch out....change is coming.
As for the class action law suit...SIGN ME UP...let me know what I can do to help. I have all documents and paper work from Chase dating back 2 years or more that shows all contract agreements and changes. I would be happy to speak to congress or whom ever will listen regarding this matter. I agree with one of the previous post. We may not be able to put members of Chase in jail but we sure can hurt their business. If you have money in accounts with Chase start pulling your money out. |

Another update on Chase - part 1
I have been filing complaints online; with the PA Attorney General (who says they don’t handle national bank complaints; the OCC; the Senate Banking Committee; and have left voice messages for three supervisors at Chase who “will call me back”. I corresponded with a law firm in CA that is currently litigating against Chase on other of their actions but they seem to think there is not much we can do about this legally.
However, Chase has to be vulnerable to what seems like a PR nightmare for them if we can get the word out about their egregious actions taken against their best customers - while at the same time collecting 25 billion of bail-out dollars. On the one hand writing off or writing down consumer debt for those that have defaulted and/or renegotiating terms to lower interest rates and lengthening terms for repayment to enable their worst customers to get out from under the debt load and on the other hand sticking a knife in the back of their best customers who have not been irresponsible in any way.
I spoke with both the Wash, DC and Harrisburg offices of Senate Banking Committee member, Bob Casey (D) at length on 01/09/09. In both cases, all I got was sympathy. In the second case, talking with Alex Baloga in Harrisburg, I was told that new regulations will go into effect in a year or two to correct problems brought on by the current administration. (I stopped him right there by saying there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides of the aisle…don’t try to tell me this is all the current administration’s fault. What about the refusal of the Democrats to acknowledge problems of the sub-prime mortgage market which started the economic melt-down?) Then, Alex said, “I’m not going to discuss that issue with you.” HaHa…I guess you’d rather not - Why am I not surprised?) Both offices were entirely unhelpful…”Thanks for the information, I’ll let the Senator know, blah, blah, blah,….nothing illegal….sorry for your trouble….blah, blah, blah……..file a complaint here or there….there’s just nothing we can do right now cause it is not against the law….”.
When I brought up the fact that the Senate doesn’t mind embarrassing big business when it suits their purpose - even when big business is “not doing anything that is against the law”. For instance, the auto executives were raked over the coals for flying their private jets to Washington, DC for their bailout hearing - which as far as I can tell, executive choice of travel mode is not against the law (yet). The Senate excoriated, publicly humiliated and embarrassed the execs in the hearing and ultimately in the court of public opinion - so much so that the auto execs drove to the next hearing. Personally, I think the auto execs were treated unfairly in this instance - especially after learning that Hypocrit-in-Chief Nancy Pelosi flies around all the time in her private jet provided by the taxpayers. But, point being, our elected officials could make Chase do the right thing IF THEY CHOSE TO DO SO, i.e., return to honoring the terms of their original agreements with card-holders and/or provide an opt-out options to close the accounts and pay off the balance under the original terms.
(....to be continued) |

Another update on Chase - part 2
If the Senate decided to put some heat on Chase for their egregious actions in this latest greed-grab that Chase would quickly decide they couldn’t afford the negative PR. I asked why the Senate is so concerned with bailing out irresponsible consumers and businesses and has no concern about those of us who have consistently met all our obligations but are now being squeezed and/or blackmailed by Chase? No answer to that one.
I don’t agree with Obama that government is going to spend our way out of this economic mess…but supposing the new administration really believes that and moves forward with all the spending Obama is proposing, how does Chase’s money-grab from millions of “main street consumers and small businesses” via deceptive, dishonorable tactics help get the economy back on track?
We do have to make this viral….I encourage fellow ill-treated Chase customers to post, blog, and spread the word as far and wide as possible. If Chase won’t do the right thing because it is the right thing to do, perhaps we can embarrass them into it. I can’t wait to be in a position to close out my accounts and never put another penny of my hard-earned money into Chase coffers. They are history with me as soon as I can pay off the balance.

Beating CHASE at their own Game
Well after reading blogs and asking around it appears there is little to nothing that can be done for what CHASE is doing. But I have been reading more and more about how we can do something since lawyers or government wont. Bad PR...well people always said before the best and cheapest advertising is word of mouth and I think this would be the best way to prove a point by making CHASE feel the pain they are currently pushing on people. If what CHASE is doing now with new fees and raising the min payments does not make your blood boil then watching the 60 minutes special which aired Sunday night will. 60 mins aired a special regarding the hike in oil prices and why it happened. Watch the special and you will see why I mention this in this blog. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4713382n
From the sound of it high up management at JP Morgan CHASE could have had a hand in the hike in oil prices with trades. Surprise...surprise. Yet another reason CHASE needs to feel the pain we are.
Keep posting and keep spreading the word what CHASE is doing. Maybe...just maybe we the people if we stand together can just do enough to do something for the little guys that seems to be getting the butt-end of the deal. |

RE: Destroy Chase
Chase just bought out my WAMU Card. They sent me a letter state that my rate will change from MY FIXED LOW RATE to their High Variable Rate. They called this a bumpless transition, do they think we are morons. I am so ready to fight to the end. It is time for Credit Card Reform to help control the Corporate Crooks from destroying everything we as people work hard for. |

Chase Mastercard new fees
I, too, am being bled by Chase Mastercard with their new 5% minimum payment and the new $10/month finance charge. I signed up with them a few years ago for the 4.99% promo fee for the life of the loan. I called them and also got the same response - because of the market blah, blah, blah, we had to make these changes. When I asked why my husband or mother who also have Chase Mastercards (but don't have the promo rates), are not paying these new fees, they said they looked at all their accounts and their useage rates to determine who would be charged these new fees blah, blah, blah.
One other thing I wanted to mention, is on my Jan. statement under Finance Charges, I am now being charged an Average Daily Balance of $1.29 for a Convenience Check (at 7.24% APR). I don't use the convenience checks. I called and was told that this goes back to when I first opened the account using the balance transfer (which was the 4.99%promo) and was probably a hidden charge blah, blah, blah. I said it took this long to be charged to my account???? I remember paying a transfer fee, but no other hidden charges back then.
I didn't really understand it, but I am being strongarmed into paying this card off now because I cannot afford the new minimum payment that has more than doubled. |

Bad faith offer
Like most on this board I was outraged to see a $10 fee on my latest statement. I had a 4.99% life of the loan agreement with them.
I emailed them and they offered me an "alternative" deal. I could pay 7.99% interest with no $10 fee. With the $10 fee my effective interest rate is 7.42%. How stupid do they think I am?
”Hey buddy, here's a deal for you, I'll charge you .5% more interest just because you’re a good guy." If that isn't a deceptive and bad faith practice I don't know what is.
If there were any hope of winning a class action I think we would have heard about a suit by now. Must be legal for them to up their fees. I still hope some shark law firm decides to take them on. |

RE: Bad faith offer
Kevin, can you provide a little more information on your approach and how you might initiate the class-action lawsuit? I am VERY interested in supporting this as I believe many others are, but I have zero knowledge on the process of opening a class-action suit and what costs are involved/incurred, etc.
One of the items I feel is actionable is the practice of providing low-interest money via the convenience checks which indicate in the fine print something to the effect that failure to pay on time 'MAY' result in increased interest rates, i.e., this language does not say that it WILL be increased immmediately if your payment is one hour beyond COB on the due date. I was able to elicit from one of the customer service reps that their computers are programmed to immeidately insitute the increased interest rate as well as charge a late fee, i.e., there is no 'MAY' -- it WILL happen regardless, so I believe this is untrue advertising as well as bait and switch tactics. I'll keep watch for additional info. Thx. |

RE: Class Action
Kevin,
Could we organize the masses and have everyone file a small claims action on the same day? If 10% of the previously listed 400,000 card holders filed a small claims action, the effect on Chase would be monumental if not devastating... We could all file the small claims actions with a Subpoena Duces Tecum making Chase provide each of us with all of the information, terms, balance transfer offers, etc., that we each would individually need to move forward against them.
We would need someone with expertise to draft the "common" small claims action and the subpoena.

RE: Class Action
It's great to see so many people determined to fight this. Count me in.
Here's an update on what I've done so far:
1) Chase called to respond to my written complaints with the OCC and the Delaware Better Business Bureau. The Chase rep said Chase would make no alteration to their "change in terms, ($10/fee and raise from 2% to 5% in minimums OR no fee, 2% minimums and 7.99% interest for two years), and then she hoped I would have a wonderful rest of the day!
I called the OCC, and was told that the OCC couldn't do anything because they never involved themselves in "contractual agreements" between the banks and their customers. She suggested hiring an attorney.
2) I've called my two state senators (Kennedy and Kerry) and my US House of Representative (Delahunt). None were helpful, except for a Michael George in Ted Kennedy's office (thank God for Kennedy - the people in his office all seemed full of intelligence, integrity, energy and concern - I hope to God Ted Kennedy lives as long as possible, since we really need him).
He told me Chase was very arrogant, and I was surprised to hear he hadn't even heard of what they are currently doing! His suggestions:
1) write and call our elected representatives
2) form a group to advocate for this cause and approach the Congress en masse
3) focus particularly on members of the Senate Banking Committee, the Finance Committee, and the same groups in the House of Representatives.
4) focus particularly on Chris Dodd and Shelby (I believe they must chair these committees. He described Shelby as completely unconcerned and apathetic about this issue.
5) try to get members of the press to focus on this issue and publish articles and letters about it.

As a former employee of Chase, I know exactly what you are talking about. I constantly had issues with customers and the posting of debits. Trying to explain, even after speaking with our customer service, was so difficult. I must admit, I couldn't find justification for the processing, except to gouge for fees.

RE: Class Action
I love the Idea of everyone fileing in small claims court on the sameday , I think that is a great Idea and I would be the first one in line to file in my court here in Virginia , Chase needs to be stopped , they sent us the checks , and they wrote the rules 2.99% , 3.99% , 4.99% until paid in full , they should have to stand up to what they offered , So yes I will be glad to join a class action lawsuit or even file in small claims court , we need to stand up to them . |

Chase
I know that Chase was encouraging to transfer everything,
including fixed, low interest (some 3.5%) student loans. I wonder if there are people who actually transferred student loans to Chase and now are ordered to pay off much faster. |

our 0% for life is gone
Yep, Chase actually offered us 0% for the life of the loan about 6 years ago. We received over 13K and paid off some other interest-bearing debt. Have never paid late, always pay above minimum, like most other posts here. Statement came today, and we received the shocking news - $10/month service charge, and minimum 5% payment. We have another Chase card with a 3.99 for life of loan, so when I called, I asked if that account was also affected - yep, they both are. We should all default on every penny - they already have our tax dollars in the amount of 25 million; they can use that to pay off our balances. We are the few people left with excellent credit scores, but we get punished!!!!We will join any and all class action suits against Chase, and I will start writing letters today.
If we hold out long enough, maybe they will go belly up soon and all debts due to them will be erased:) |

This law firm is for real
The link in the former post is incorrect, but this one works:
http://www.gslawny.com/lawyer-attorney-1383679.html
I just forwarded my information to them - please let as many people as possible know about this. This law firm is reviewing the information trying to decide whether to initiate the class action suit against Chase bank. |

UPDATE: My class action
I posted on this board a few weeks ago to say that I was contacting a class action law firm that has sued Chase before.
Today I received an email back from the firm, and I called and talked to an associate. She said she also was a Chase victim and also did not receive the change in service notice Chase claimed to have sent us.
She says we probably have a good case, and that it would be helpful to know what states the potential plaintiffs live in so we can choose which state to sue in. Please post just the name of the state you live in (if you want to join the class action) so we can start making a list.
I'll start. CALIFORNIA |

Class Action Suit
I too got bit by Chase. There is currently a class action investigation going by a firm in NY. You can submit information at gslawny.com. There is a link on the site regarding the fee Chase is imposing.
* Investigation of Monthly Service Fee on Chase Credit Cards
We will be able to fight this.

Has anyone... unwilling to accept the new terms (service charge / minimum payment)... or the 2 options they readily offer (7.99% for 2 years / pay in full and close acct)... successfully negotiated a satisfactory solution with Chase? |

Chase Class Action Investigation
Chase's victimization of its customers is outrageous - - especially while the company is being bailed out with (our) TAXPAYER dollars!
Here's a link to a Class Action investigation of Chase
http://www.gslawny.com/lawyer-attorney-1383679.html
I'm signing up and adding the following comment:
Chase's new $10 monthly fee appears on my statements for two accounts as a Transaction Fee for Purchases. However, there have been NO "Purchases" on the accounts.
The $10 montly Transaction Fee for Purchases will be charged on two of my Chase credit cards beginning in Jan. 2009. However, the only balance on each card is a "Balance Transfer" for which I already paid the maximum "Transaction Fee" at the time of the Balance Transfer several years ago. Each Balance Transfer is fixed at 3.99% until paid off.
I believe the new Purchase Transaction Fee is unwarranted because there have been no Purchases, and because I previously paid the maximum Transaction Fee on the Balance Transfer.
AND the new $10 monthly fees will accrue interest at the interest rate for Purchases which is 7.99%, with NO payments applied to it until the "Balance Transfer" amount is paid off at 3.99%.
Thank you for investigating this. |

CALIFORNIA
I actually spoke to the NY firm and they are considering bringing charges in CA. Seems like there is not much they can do about minimum payments. But the $10 "finance charge" may come back to haunt them. |

Chase is robbing us
I agree we need to stand up and do something about this robbery that is taken place. I did not receive the notice in November and was made aware of the additional $10.00 finance charge when I receive my January statement.
I am not going to let these crooks get away with it. |

RE: class action suit
Hello,
Did you happen to mention the new tactic which is a threat to raise the interest rate on the "life of the loan" rates of 3.9% to 7.9% if you don't agree to repaying the loan back quicker. You may have seen that they are now demanding 5% per month repayment, effectively tripling your monthly minimum payment. I would love the name of the attorney if you do not mind. |

Chase screw over
Please count us in!!! Our state is Oregon. Our problem is slightly different. A few months ago, August, we sold our house and eager to get out of the "deal with the devil" ,Chase, we immediately called for a pay-off quote. They gave us the quote over the phone and we paid with our debit card over the phone. We thought all was finished with this monster. In December, we tried to purchase a new house and ran a credit check. We were horrified by what we found. Chase not only did not close out the account but were adding imaginary "services" charges of $17.00, this accumulated late fees and was up to $288.00 by December. My husband contacted Chase and they agreed to take off the late payments if we paid $58.00, not sure where this number came from, plus they guarenteed they would close the account. He paid, but I would have fought it, but he wanted the whole nightmare behind us. The next day he called Chase to verify the changes to the account and there was another $4.00 service charge on there that they wanted. He begged for the pay off amount right now. They said all that was owed was the $4.00, he paid. Today I opened the mail and there was a $1.00 service fee on Chase. I called and they said well really it is only 12 cents but they can not charge LESS than a dollar, thus the interest rate (listed on the payment stub) was 40.43%. I told him it was illegal to be above 30% in my state, he said it was 29.99% but they had to charge atleast a dollar. Am I taking crazy pills? A word of caution, even when you want to get out, they don't let you!!! They keep screwing you over. I am in Dante's 5th concentric circle of hell!!! |

Tell it to THE MAN!
Tell it to THE MAN
Interested in bringing Chase some unwanted attention? We NEED to get the media involved...
I also request that you contact the WhiteHouse via whitehouse.gov . You can leave brief comments in messages to Obama's team. Leave a bunch! I have submitted like 10 so far! MAYBE IF WE ALL DO IT, they *might* notice!
Please be polite and to the point. The main point to get across to President Obama and Congress is that these companies MUST BE REGULATED and controlled more closely. They are simply, completely and totally out of control! Bait and switch, 30% interest rates, shady practices, broken contracts...all of it adds up to American's getting kicked down when they can least afford it!
Chase accepted bailout money, then promptly attacked their customers...their LOYAL, high credit rating clients! Many of us are suffering from this blackmail and mistreatment by Chase. God only knows how bad this will get, if all creditors follow Chase's lead, this alone could cause millions of bankruptcies!

RE: Tell it to THE MAN!
Thanks for the tip. I wrote in several times this morning already. I just hope our cries are heard and do not go unanswered. I feel like we should storm the bastille...viva la revolution, only this time our oppressive monarchy is the Corporate Conglomerate with econonmic tactics as thier arsenal. I for one am sick of it!!! I say we cut them at the knees...buy local, support your neighbor, give our hard earned cash to those within our community not some CEO who brings down more than the entire population of my town. I for one am doing everthing I can to make sure Chase and others like Chase do not recieve a single dime from me. The new cry for a new generation of oppressed poor: "Off with thier wallets!!!" |

Phone Call to Chase
Well I just received my first statement from Chase with the new $10 transaction fee. Clever...Clever...Chase. I noticed they placed this charge in the Purchases section. Nice...So I called with some question regarding the placement of this new fee... After asking to speak to a supervisor I was told due to the questions and nature of the call they are not allowed to transfer the call to supervisors anymore. Then they hung up on me. I called back and demanded to speak to supervisor and final got one. I asked her about the $10 fee and if it would be charged interest each month and she said YES!!! So basically each month they will charge $10 and then interest on the $10. I asked if there was an opt out and she said now but she tried her hardest to get me to change my 3.9% to 7.99%. What I guess Chase thinks we are all stupid. A little simple math tells you that is stupid. I asked to speak to someone higher up on the food chain and she said I could not speak to anyone else but could write to:
Executive Corresponded Department
4915 Independence Park Way
Mail Stop: FS1 1st Floor
Tampa, FL 33634
What Chase is doing is completely wrong...if not legally than wrong business practice wise. Treating loyal customers like pond scum and then bagging the government for bail out. I’m so ready to hit them with a law suit or turn on the news and see them fall like a box of rocks. I have contacted State Reps., Congressmen, law firms, local news media... and still nothing. I'm not sure what else to do other than to spread the word as many times as I can via emails, websites, blogs, chat rooms, word of mouth and however else I can that CHASE is robbing people blind. If something is not done about this soon Obama and the new government officials think the economy is bad....wait till more and more people start filling bankruptcy...I mean heck everything is going to hell in a hand basket so why should we worry about our credit scores???? We have our government tossing billions around like single dollars and now talking trillions....What the heck...If they would have given the first bail out money with some restrictions....such as not allowing these banks to take the bailout money and buy other banks...maybe it would have worked... Any way I’m off the subject...I would like no more than to help with a class action lawsuit or to help spread the word about what Chase is doing.
Count me in for whatever....

Taken Action
I have sent messages to the white house
http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/
Hope to hear back but not getting my hopes up.
Also sent message to our local media WTKR News Channel 3 in VA
http://www.wtkr.com/Global/category.asp?C=151574&nav=menu78_3_2
email address: takingaction@wtkr.com
They have a taken action news team that tries to help when you cant seem to get answers.
I suggest everyone start hitting these news stations till someone stands up and starts taken action. Until we start getting our voices heard nothing will happen. We are the little average joes that get stepped on till our voices are heard. Until a class action law suit is filed all we can do is speak up and speak loud.
Anyone else that have good links to get the word out post them so we can all start sending mail. |

I'd be happy to participate in a class action against Chase. We're in the midst of being mind blown at the monthly payment increase (no way no how can we pay triple what we were paying before!) and the odd $10 service fee.

Class Action filed
The class action suit has been filed, although its only for the $10 fee, http://www.gslawny.com/lawyer-attorney-1383679.html
The real problem, of course, is the tremendous hardship they are putting on families and small businesses with the increased minimum payments. Please contact every politician and media outlet you can to put pressure on Chase and their CEO Dimon (demon?).
This is pure extortion and just disgusting. |

Chase Change of Terms
Texas Just talked to them and they also are pushing for the 7.99% rate until 1/1/2011 and then it goes to the new purchase rate of 27.24%, which they had also increased. When I had called previously they pushed the 7.99% rate but NEVER told me this would be for 2 years. I, like many others, have never been late and have a good credit score. So that means in 2 years my rate will go from 3.99% to 27.24%. Unbelieveable! Will also jump on any class action suit. When I told the rep that there is going to be a lawsuit over this, she said I might as well sue all banks because all of them are going to be doing this. |

I am in the same boat with everyone else. I am really tired of doing things as I should be and what I agreed to.
Chase is breaking the agreement and we need to fight back and hold them to it. They are a shining example of corporate greed and mismanagement!
I'm in Georgia and definitely in for a suit! |

RE: This is the first class-action that I really want to involved in...
I too have been hit with the $10 Service charge and the rate of payment boost from 2 to 5 percent. This takes my current monthly from $278 to $686. I have been a customer since 2000 and had just accepted one of their offers for a low interest until paid balance transfer offer. They are attempting to force everyone into default so that they can then hit us with the max interest. I have joined the class action lawsuit and I encourage everyone with cause to do the same. |

Chase bailout at consumers expense!
My husband has become a victim of Chase's new practices and I agree with everyone else here that it has to stop!
He's been a customer since the early 90's with perfect credit and not one late payment. His statement now showed his payment increasing from $230 to $553! He tried calling their customer service only to be left on hold for 20 minutes and it disconnecting him shortly after that. He called back 2 hours later and reached someone asking for an explanation. They said they sent a letter in November 2008 but didn't say what the letter was about. My husband told them he never received any letter from them.
What they offered to do was revert his payment back to $230 but said he wouldn't be able to use his credit available if they did that. In my opinion who would want to use them at all after such unethical crap like this!
I intend to have him contact our BBB here in Minnesota and I personally will try contacting the news media's around here and maybe even the national ones also. If people were aware just what these credit card companies are pulling after being handed a huge bailout I think they'd be livid!
Count us in on any class action lawsuit!

chase
BTW, there are other aspects to the story. It looks like we as taxpayers are going to pay for Chase's legal expenses.
Dimon was bragging today that Chase is lending. Is it possible that they are running a Ponzi scheme - breaching old contracts to pay some new customers and brag: "Look we're using the bailout money to 'give to the people?" |

Lawsuit Info Needed
I received this email today from the Paralegal asking the following:
In the course of preparing our case for court, we are interested in hearing examples of the different ways people are dealing with the situation Chase has put them into (in addition to simply choosing to pay the monthly fee and increased minimum payment or agreeing to the higher interest rate). For example, we have heard from people who have switched to other cards or who have withdrawn from IRA accounts. Please send us an email if you have this kind of information.

RE: class action suit chase bank
to all
In my humble opinion Chase has breached its contract. My action is to, because of its breach, dispute the entire amount as stated on the back of the credit card bill.
Also there is a class action suit filed in California regarding the breach of contract. It was filed in Federal court in late January. |

Another lawfirm looks into CLASS ACTION!
COOL! We have another firm thinking about a class action in California. No offense to our friends in New York, but this firm is much bigger than the first one, and has actually won some huge awards...like $100 Million against American Express! This firm seems to have a great track record....please use the links below to show your interest in supporting them in a class action against CHASE.

RE: class action suit chase bank
Check "Consumer Complains about Chase credit cards" in Google. As of today there 230 Pages of complains and stated basic same wrong doing from Chase credit card. Chase changed the term and increase the minimum payment and APR which they promised .
I sent mail to CEO of Chase, most of rep in Customer service agreed with me, Chase did wrong things and I asked them to leave Chase since this Credit card comapny has no credit, Credit score for Chase is Negative .
The best way is All of us should join the Class Law suit to Sue Chase.
And also Legislation should take action to Chase.
Compared with Citi and Discover card from web you can see Chase is the worst credit card company in the world. |

Where do I sign
Same boat as everyone else. I noticed my interest rate is 24.99% and called them about it. I spent a year in Afghanistan fighting in the war. My card has been paid off for almost a year. My credit score is 794. Wow yes 794 and still they refuse to give me a lower interest rate. I recently got back and started to use it again in Jun 08. I contacted Chase about the interest rate and was told that's the lowest rate the bank is offer. I am paying my card off in full with my tax return and closing it out. Forget Chase. Not only am I fighting to protect our country now I have to fight to save the what little money I do recieve from the military. Chase you guys suck and I hope your happy. What you claim on earth is your but my claim will be with my Lord. May god bless you all and keep you safe.

Chase Class Action
We think that the only way to fix the problem with the "service charge" on Chase credit cards and their unlawful increase in the minimum payments is to file class action lawsuits that force them to change their behavior. www.classcounsel.com. |

CHASE CAVES!!!
Chase hit me with their $10. " SERVICE CHARGE " on two accounts I have with them. I went through the same thing everyone else did, (the 7.99% deal) but I also filed a complaint with the OCC who followed through by contacting Chase, who then called and re-offered me the 7.99% scam which I again refused. I then wrote back to the OCC letting them know I wasn't satisfied and felt Chase had mislead me with their ' Life of Loan ' offer and violated the Truth in Lending Act by changing the terms. I demanded the OCC do something about it.
Well apparently they did because on both of this months statements there is NO $10. charge! They are still taking 5% of my balance for the payment but the way I look at it the sooner I am done with Chase the better! It is well worth filing a compliant though. To let them get away with bogus charges sets a dangerous precedent. What if they decide $10. isn't enough? Where does it end? |

class action suit against Chase Bank
I was wondering if there was any progress with the suit against Chase? I have had a horrible experience with them. First they lowered my credit line, then they raised my finance charges, then I got behind, they were unwilling to help me. I called 3 times trying to get help from them, they said no. I now have an attorney's office representing them telling me I am being served. It is a total nightmare! |

RE: Monthly Finance Charge on Promo
I would like to hear from anyone with legitimate solutions to what all agree is aggravating, some agree is infuriating, and most agree is certainly not legally correct.
My solution to chases blatant effort to raise promotional apr to more than double the agreed to (and paid for) apr of the promotion offered by chase (and accepted by many. In other words, the anticipated affect of more than doubling the minimum payment due (amount of the promotional offer by chase)of 2% to 5%, and pulling customer service off the phones, replaced with "advisors" who advise that your only option is to accept the doubled + new APR.
MY SOLUTION?
Starts at the Billing Rights Summary on the reverse side of your invoice.
You are entitled to write to chase regarding disputes with charges on your account.
You do not have to pay the disputed amounts until the issue is resolved.
Will this work?
I'll keep anyone whos interested informed of my results.
Also, I have closed my account, as well.
Might be a mistake, if I can't maintain my debit/credit card for airlines, hotels, and other credit card requiring services.

No more $10?
Just like the poster before me, I complained to the OCC, got a response from Chase with higher interest rate offer, then wrote back to them complaining about the $10 fee. Never heard back from Chase again but there is no fee on the statement I just got. I went over the whole thing with a magnifying glass - not there (unless of course they hid it somewhere but it doesn't look like it). So at least on that account they seem to be caving. |

RE: Never received a bill
This exact scenario happened to me with Chase. In my case my wife was taking care of the bills and she just paid them not taking notice of rate or payment hikes. One day I took a look at the Chase card bill and noticed the 9.99% to 29.85% (or thereabouts) change. That's too big of a change to just sit and do nothing and this had been going on for about 8 months. I went to the Comptroller of the Currency website here: http://www.occ.treas.gov/customer.htm and used the online form here: https://appsec.helpwithmybank.gov/olcc_form/ and two days later I received a call from what sounded like an intelligent person with "pull" in the Chase organization. She asked me how I would like to resolve the situation and I told here I wanted my original APR back and to be credited with the amount we payed over the 9.99%. The person I was dealing with reversed it all. And asked if there was anything else that she could help me with. It just proved to me that they're trying to pull a fast one and that most people don't file a complaint.

RE: Never received a bill
Quote: justme522 I am so angry with Chase.
Sorry, I hit reply instead of quote.

UPDATE: My class action
Wow looks like there are a lot of class actions starting. I figure they'll all be combined eventually, so if you haven't joined one already, please contact one of the attorneys mentioned in some of these other posts, or the one I talked to today.
It's been about a month since I last posted here. I had been in contact with an East Coast attorney with a big public interest law firm that has sued Chase before regarding similar conduct (will they never learn?).
She referred me to a California attorney since California is so oriented toward protecting consumers rather than big business (unlike Delaware).
Anyway, I just got off the phone with Mr. Green, the California attorney, and he would like to hear from anyone interested in joining the class action suit that has been filed in Federal District Court here. He authorized me to share his email address, which is rsg@classcounsel.com
He said he would especially like to hear from the posters from Maine and Minnessota (sp?).
So far we have 5 people from California joining this suit, and 5-8 more from other states. They're trying to make it a national case, so please email Mr. Green if you haven't already joined the suit. Once again, his email address is rsg@classcounsel.com |

One more thing
It just occurred to me that many of you may have closed your accounts after Chase screwed you. We closed ours. I just wanted to add that you can still participate in the class action if you closed your account. Even if you closed it, Chase still screwed you, so you're still entitled to share in the lawsuit and the damage award we ultimately will recover. |

RE: Never received a bill
I have two accounts with a "fixed" 3.99% on balance tranfers but was suddenly hit with the $10 monthly fee and the increase in minimum payments from 2% to 5%. I filed a complaint with the OCC and received a call from a Chase rep. The only options she offered were to raise the rate to 7.99% with 2% minimum payments or to put me together a "work out" rep, in which case the accounts would be closed. I declined, noting that if I accepted 7.99%, Chase could increase the 2% monthly payment at any time and then I'd be stuck with a higher payment AND higher interest rate. Ah "yes" she agreed with a soft chuckle.
I asked her to put my options in writing. I'll send it to OCC and see if anything happens. Consider yourself lucky if Chase voluntarily backed off from gouging your account! |

Chase's Outrageous and Deceitful Conduct
I have also encountered the same problem as mentioned by some of the commentators: late for one day payment, being stabbed with hefty late fees and finance charge for not only one month, but two months. Even though I paid the fees in full, Chase still insists on calculating a finance charge for the second month, even under this economic condition.
I am ready to start a class action against Chase. Anyone interested in joining?

REFUND BY CHASE
Well it looks like CHASE has reconsidered their $qo a month fee. I received a notice today 4/6/09 saying that:
Beginning April 1, 2009 we will no longer assess a $10 monthly account service charge. We will credit your account for any $10 monthly service charge(s) billed since January 1, 2009 along with any finance charges related to the $10 monthly account service charge. You will see the adjustment on your April billing statement. Your minimum payment due each month will remain at 5% of your new balance as communicated in the November 2008 notice.
So it looks like CHASE has final wised up a little and dropped the stupid charge. But in our case it's a little to late to be making up for what they tried to pull. As of this month CHASE is gone. I have also punished retail stores that use CHASE as their credit provided by not buying products from their store if I need a line of credit to buy the item. I will never do business with CHASE again if at all possible.
All I can say to CHASE is thanks for my refund which you should have never taken from me in the first place. Also I think CHASE should pay all the interest they gained from stealing the $10 from everyone to the people they took it from to begin with. I know they made boat loads off the interest alone. Most be nice to take money from people....make money off of it then turn around and refund the money back to the people and keep the money earned off of it.
Any way I'm done wasting my time with CHASE. Closing up account this week and never looking back.

chase the new loan shark
My husband and I have had a WAMU credit card for over 10 years. Chase bought and took over last year. This is when all our trouble started. As many I have read, we never had a late payment fee or over the limit charge. We also pay online thru our bank, who makes electronic payments which is an immediate deposit to the creditor. In our state, the law reads as soon as funds are deposited the payment is paid.
In Dec of 2008 I received my first late fee and called to question and got the response of it takes 3 days to process the payment, I explained this was never a problem with WAMU, and I was told they have not changed policy. This snowballed to the price of over 400 hundred dollars and our interest went from 9.99 to 30.66 due to the results of late fees and over the limit fees put on since Dec. My banking institution has also on my behalf tried to work with Chase on this matter and basically Chase will not accept the proof of transaction from my bank....it's not what they want. It seems no one can know what they want because it does not exist. In less than 2 months I have paid Chase over 1000 in payments(which by the way payments are now occurring twice a month) and I am still over the limit and still paying over the limit fees! On top of this, Chase claims that you will receive collection calls if your account is over the limit, even though the payment is not due for another 4 weeks! Another thing Chase has done is lower my limit every month, so the end result is, of course, once again over limit the causing more fees.
I saw on dateline earlier this month a segment on credit card company practices. They all reflect what has been said here in this blog and many others. They are now being called "the new loan sharks"
My plan of action is now to contact local and state representatives and find an attorney to handle this problem. I don't know about others...but I am not happy about bailing out big business on our tax dollars for them to thank us little people by raising interest and fees.
This is not corporate America this is corporate theft!

RE: Late Fees that are a deliberate action to raise money?
On May 21,2008 I contacted JP Morgan Chase Bank concerning my VISA account. Late payment and finance charges were added in the amount of $42.84. I was told they would not be reversed because my credit card payment was received past the due date. I countered and said it was more likely a processing problem on Chase’s part than a postal problem or mailing my payment late. If it had been my fault, I would have paid the late charge. I closed the account and Chase Bank kept adding late charges and finance charges every month thereafter on the preceding late statement charges. It does not take 7 days to process a payment when ACH and Electronic Debit is available. Most transactions are closed in 3 days of mailing time.
I also brought up my good payment history, but this was ignored. I have proof that in recent and prior months Chase has posted my payments in as little as 4-5 days and not 8 as in May. I have contacted all credit reporting agencies because of the adverse reporting by this bank. In fact now I have had letters sent to me by other creditors regarding my future with them. Because of past and current actions, I have filed a complaint with the Comptroller of Currency that investigates grievances against banks with “N.A.” after their name. I am now looking to file a lawsuit or join an Ohio class action lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A.

Chase resolved my issue
My complaint to the OCC yielded results. Three weeks after my complaint, Chase called me and reversed/credited all charges and interest rates.
Keep up the pressure, they're folding!

Rate
They raised my rate in January from 12.9 to 24.9. Doubled the rate. I had never been late or missed a payment. According to Chase, they notified me in October 2008. Because I never opted out they raised my rate. I never recalled being notified.
After calling chase, they refused to reduce it back to the original rate.
I wrote letters to my State Senators, State Attorney, and finally the OCC.
As a result of the OCC complaint, they called me and reversed/credited all charges and rates.

Chase checking
Are there any class action law suits against Chase checking account practices, more specifically "insufficient funds" fees?
I do not think they way Chase bank manipulates withdrawals and deposits in order to have as many bounced items as possible is legal.

Chase Class Action
I have placed complaints with BBB and Attorney Gen in two states. Have also added my name to a Class Action (Girard Gibbs LLP) in San Francisco, 415-981-4800. Have not heard back from them.
Have had replies from BBB and AG saying it will take several weeks to take action and get reply.
Everyone needs to contact the BBB and AG in both their home state and DE or where every their billing address is for Chase.
Giskan Solotaroff Anderson & Stewart have also filed Suit for the fees and other issues.
I will continue making payments, but will fight this all the way.
Good luck everyone |

BBB & AG Help
I sent complaint to Better Business B and Attorney Gen in two states. Received call from CHASE, they are backing out all fees and establishing interest rate back to where it was with WAMU. If you are having credit problems due to what CHASE is doing, contact the BBB and AG. For me it worked. |

I will join it also
I will join a class action anytime. Someone has to stop this usury. They use legal resources and undefined contracts through the phone to economically abuse middle class people. They feel proud to let you know they have the power to do it and they forgot that we are their customers and that they use our 0% a year money to lend it to the poor at 29.9% |

Chase Law Suit
Is this lawsuit limited to mortgages and credit cards? What about consumer checking accounts?
I made arrangements to pay a $305 gas bill to be taken from my account on the day I would receive my direct deposit from my Social Security payment. At the time I made the payment, which was not supposed to be taken out until the next day, I had a $75 balance as of 10:30 pm and no other charges pending. I am signed up for Chase alerts.
The following morning I found that at 3:26am Chase had sent me an alert that my account was overdrawn. The electronic check didn't wait until the next morning. Fine - I would take responsibility and pay the $35 overdraft fee. However,
Chase changed the $75 balance back to $419.00 balance, and from that took the $305 gas bill, and a $108.50 Western Union that was paid, posted to my account and deducted 8 days prior. This left a balance of $5.15. From that they posted as paid insufficient an $11.31 Mcdonald's payment from my debit, and an $11 Burger King payment - neither of which would have been accepted if my account was really overdrawn. They deducted a $40 check that had showed previously as paid, and the person who cashed the check also had a Chase account and they received it as cash immediately - this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't had the funds in the account. They posted the $3.94 check by phone charge associated with the gas bill, which if it had been posted with the gas bill would not be showing as "paid insufficient"and an ATM withdrawal for $40, and anyone knows that they would not have allowed me to withdraw $40 if the account was overdrawn. I know they can charge for overdrafts - but what law is there that says they can go back and change the statement completely around so that the checks and charges that were previously paid are shown as unpaid, and so that the largest check is now put in the system causing all the smaller ones that had previously been paid to cause overdrafts amounting to $175.00 - so far.

Interest Rate Hike
Received notice from Chase that their VISA card minimum interest rates would increase from 9.99% to 13.34% for all accounts. Called customer service to inquire about the rate hike and was greeted by a rude and sarcastic "customer service" representative. Called again and connected with a more reasonable person, reporting the first person. Did Chase not receive 25 BILLION dollars from the government in the bail out? How are they getting away with raising rates arbitrarily and after they've already received billions from the government? Anyone else have thoughts? |

I have some thoughts.
We're nursing nice, cute, little corporate banks to health.
Merely humans can die after, of course, saving these criminal and stupid "persons" (corporations). |

I wish to join your lawsuit against Chase
I wish to join your lawsuit again chase. I am a teacher in NYC. My wife was sent an upgraded gold credit card to their original credit card because the original blue credit card looks exactly like her blue debit card. We find out later that the new card's information did not get the old card's automatic payments so my wife was charged 2 late fees of $45. Later I withdraw some money in the bank at the Forest Hills branch and they ask me to visit a representative and then tell me to upgrade my debit card to a better one with a $25 yearly fee. I said who the "f---" are you to offer me an upgraded credit card like this. They suck your blood of money and I just don't like them. Please let me know about your lawsuit and I will join you. |

RE: BBB & AG Help
What states did you contact the BBB?
I've been a loyal and on-time customer of WAMU and have recently had Chase increase my interest rate to 29.9% for being 4 days late making a monthly payment. I was told by WAMU that Chase would be changing my payment date so I was waiting for a statement that actually arrived 2 weeks after the payment due date. I made my payment before I received my statement.
When I called concerning this matter of increased payment that I can't make, I was directed to a "hardship department". I offered to suspend my card at my current rate and I'd simply make payments to clear the balance, but couldn't pay 29.9% interest. I was told that wasn't an option. They gave me the number of one of those credit consolidation companies. The irony is, I was recently sent a 'change in terms/opt out' notice that said if I didn't want to pay the new 14.99 interest rate, I could oopt out by suspending my card and paying off the balance at my current rate.
I've worked hard to maintain good credit despite the fact I've been laid off and had to move to my folk's place for the time being.
I'm now in OREGON |

Chase Bank
Well what a surprise to find soooo many people in the same
Chase 'boat'. My spouses card was cancelled, out of the blue. The "gentleman" on the phone first said it was because too many cards had been opened recently. We said, this was the latest one opened, 3 years ago. Then the excuse was there were too many. We said there are only 2 opened. The next excuse was a bad item on the credit report. To which we said 'Oh so you pulled an unauthorized credit report. Then it was you are using half of your credit, and we reminded the "dear little man" that the balance gets paid in full every month. Then we told him to pick and excuse and stick with because he had 4 on the table. He then got somewhat beligerent.
IT IS time for consumers to unite to fight these kind of business practices. What if Obama goes back to the banks who accepted bailout money and said "Oops, I'm taking it back. I'm changing terms. What a concept!! |

Chase cards
Hope this adds to the long list of class actions...they have raised my $558 payment (2% on unpaid balance to 4-5% of unpaid balance)which is over $1000 a month..on a socail security income of about $2300 amonth we will probably have to mortgage our home that we paid for in cash to hold unto to our small amount of assets(very small) that we have worked for all our life..... even 1% would not have been so bad but doubling it will kill us and at 65+ this is not good...I have received phone calls on how to cash in to offering 1/2 of what you owe them..and this maybe what some people may do... so where are they ahead...They probably have lost a lot of their most valueble costumers we pay our bills on time....my physical problems have increased because of all the stress... hope all of these comments causes something to happen and if there is a class action in this state I will be apart of it |

All of the people we have talked with personaly who are having issues with Chase bank and Chase Credit Cards, are over 50. They are trying to get scoring changed yet again so it is so high that very very few qualify for decent and fair rates. This way they get to charge much higher rates for most people. Anyone else notice this? |

Here is something I found while searching all of this. Read the article on this site and basically what they say is probably at some point during your relaionship with Chase-Wamu Credit card, they slipped in a little note within all of their junk mail they send along with your bill stating that they have the right to change ANYTHIMG in mid stream and if you don't agree, just close your account. That is THEIR scapegoat for all of this! |

We need to collect names of victims of this fraud. I will stay in touch, please post my link anywhere you believe it will be helpful.

What to do about Chase
It doesn't look like we will be getting a class action lawsuit to assuage our anger at the unfair practices of Chase anytime soon. My complaint is somewhat different from the rest. I paid my bill online and the checking account number was missing some numbers. They only allow you to view the last four digits so I couldn't check it. They charged $100 in fees. I feel their not allowing me to view the number in it's entirety was the reason this all happened.
I am so angry that I went to the small claims site to download forms. At least I can use their time to go to court as the message has to get out there. You can file in your own local court and the fee is $30 if under $1,500. My out of pocket is only $100, but they are so brazen about it that I think it is worth a try! There is a department called a Small Claims Advisor that can be reached to ask more questions. Only one minute on hold before I got a live person. More than I can say for Chase and this is the government!

I guess there is a class action lawsuit pening
I wanted to post the link but this website won't allow it as the "word is too long". The name of the site is lawyers and settlements .com. Here is the write up.
Chase Bank Faces Class Action over Credit Card Rates
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Chase Bank USA, N.A. after the credit card issuer more than doubled minimum monthly payments and imposed an “Account Service Charge” on customers who had accepted its fixed-rate balance transfer offers.
The class action complaint alleges that Chase induced preferred customers to take out sizable balance-transfer loans by offering 2.99% to 4.99% promotional rates that would remain fixed for the life of the loan. It is alleged that after soliciting these long term loans – and charging transaction fees of up to 3% of the loan amount – Chase implemented a “forced loan modification program” to coerce consumers to surrender the benefit of their fixed promotional rates.
Chase has recently notified customers that unless they pay off their entire loan balance within 30 days or accept a higher annual rate, Chase will more than double their required minimum monthly payment and charge a $10 fee for each month that the loan remains outstanding.
The number of Chase customers that could be affected by the class action lawsuit remains unclear, but comments by Chase put the upper limit at 500,000 people.

Chase bank
In the last couple of months I have noticed this bank has been charging disgusting intrest rates, I have been with this company for 8 years, not always Chase first Providian then washington mutal and now chase, I question the intrest rate, and never got a good answer, now I recieve a letter stating they closed my account, no previous warning, I called and let them know just how I felt, and they told me they respect my decision, I told them I didnt respect theres, and that I was writing to the white house and Attorney General.
I am so mad at this I have never been late on a payment and always paid more then enough, My credit report states I am in good standing and they close my account ? is this the way to treat good customers ? I am a waitress and have never treated people this way, didnt we just bail this bank out ? My letter already went to the white house, and I will not stop there, there has got to be a way to stop these crooks. |

Chase Bank
POB 17199
Wilmington DE 19850-7199
Shame on you for canceling our cards without prior notice, but we expected no more from an impersonal, despicable big bank’s takeover of our nice, small town type bank we found in Washington Mutual. We’ve been expecting and waiting for something like this low-life action. And as to the lack of notice, what if we’d been in a position to need the card yesterday?! I found out by trying to set up a computer software trial when the card wouldn’t go through. And as if you cared, what if we were traveling, depending on this card for food, hotel and other services? What’s next, our checking accounts? In spite of our good management, it wouldn’t surprise us at all. I doubt any of you bank monsters have any concerns for individuals, so we’ll manage without your stinking credit cards. We were loyal customers of WAMU but not you high rollers. You are part of what’s wrong with this country. You are bums, a disservice to this country and we’d like you out of our state.
What part of “don’t use any more credit than you have to” don’t you understand? And, what part of paying off your credit card each month instead of letting your abysmal interest pile up money for you don’t you understand. It’s Chase vs their customers except for the high rollers.
And as far as sticking your nose into our credit reports, that is a tactic more recently being used by you impersonal machines to use against and inconvenience us. The one item on our credit report is a human condition, are disputing this and believe it to be the unjust charge we are going to prevail on, but again your impersonal nazi-style actions prevail.
And what happened to the nice MC who does your commercials? More crap of course from a company whose record is already exactly that…crap. It’s YOUR record that is found lacking. Have you bothered to see the long list of complaints on the internet? Like a Bank of America founder’s granddaughter is disgusted with what her bank has become, so it goes with you, but doubt you’ve ever been anything but another self-serving financial institution who doesn’t deserve decent people’s business.
And you think this is over? We’re going to put the word out about how you too are one of the bad guys. I’m thinking we should be able to make an indelible impression of what most Americans today suspect is the case. Your and your lot should be run out of business. An economy like this where so many are suffering trying to keep their heads above water and here come the evil landlords. That would be your ilk.

chase bank
I am interested in starting a class action lawsuit against Chase. My credit line was dropped, allowing them to raise the interest rates, I have very good credit and have never missed a payment, I received 2 months of bills on the same date- claiming that because I was late my interest rate jumped to to 29.99%. I called to opt out, waited for 1 hour, and was told you can't opt out. When I discussed that the same bill had to be sent late because my daughter also received two bills on the same date. Same thing, her card was closed, interest raised, and operator hangs up, it is time to put an end to these criminal practices. I intend to file suit against chase, anyone who wants to join, please email me chaselawsuit@gmail.com
It is time to put an end to this practice. |

Chase
I have read many complaints this morning about Chase closing their credit card accounts that were previously WaMu accounts. I received my letter last week, like most everyone else, but I have not read a complaint that includes the following reason for closing the account.
"Time since last past due is too short"
Does this mean that they closed my account because I have been making payments on time? Really?
It appears that someone is starting a class action suit against Chase in a previous post. Count me in all the way! |

WAMU to Chase.....class action suit
Hello all!
Well, I just got "the" letter today. I had been a WAMU client for many years, never late, always paid on time or in full...carrying very low balances.
Chase takes over.
Things have been fine, until today and I get a letter that due to "credit score too low" "debt to income ratio" and "lack of usage" we HAVE closed your account...not we're "going" to. Thankfully I use it rarely.
Of course...contact Experian as everyone else was told.
Issue is...
I have 3 credit cards, 2 with small balances and one with zero..so "amount of revolving accounts" is insane, debt to income ratio.....ahh, and they know that HOW??? Hello....they don't know what I make, lack of usage...I can see that.
Now...what does this do to my credit score?
I really don't care about the card...what I care about are their terrible tactics, their business practices and the fact that with a credit score as high as mine is, what gives them the right? My credit score is just under 770.
I've heard they are closing ALL WAMU customer accounts.
Is this legal?
can we fight this?
I will absolutely involve myself in a class action suit!
I wonder also, I got rid of the payment protection thing, as we won't use it, don't need it etc, and then they close my account, I wonder if that isn't a reason behind it?
Anyone else know?

Discrimination against previous WaMu customers
My husband and I have also had recent changes to our cards. Both of his WaMu cards (now Chase) were canceled and my credit limit was reduced by $1,200.
The strange thing is that I have a 4th card that I opened in 07 through Chase directly with a much higher credit-line, higher balance, and lower interest rate than any of the other cards that were transferred from WaMu!
Calling Chase and Experian has been a complete joke and the discrimination against previous WaMu customers is too obvious in my case. I'd like to know if there is a class action suit I can get behind. |

RE: Bonuses at Chase
I forgot a quote:
"Mr. Cuomo’s report, released on Thursday, looked at the nine big financial firms that got the first round of aid under last fall’s federal bailout, and detailed how much each firm paid in 2008 bonuses. It also described how many employees at each firm got annual bonuses of $1 million or more." |

RE: CHASE CLASS ACTION
I have read a few posts and the sickness is returning from my own 3yrs of misery after 9/11 and dealing with my interest rate after joining chase's hardship plan which they did not admit existed when I inquired about it in NOV 2001.
Prior I had perfect credit, 1 check acct/1 credit acct- life was simple and great. I always overheard others life setbacks and never thought it would happen to me.
I have been too sick on/off for years and dealing with my ankle joint and other setbacks associated with depression-loss of 400k, loss of energy, late on bills, ruined credit, dealing with incompetence all over the board, etc which all rooted from CHASE BANK NA. took them 9mos to figure out why my rate when up from 11.99 to 30%. A wonderful woman out of Orlando, FL did the research- I was late 1 payment prior to joining their hardship plan- obviously, I was in the midst of enrollment and no wonder but they cannot be compassionate for New Yorkers who were displaced, traumatized and unemployed.
I am strong now and working 3hrs per day cash job and might have some time to research to find a firm to commence a class action......which I have years ago, however there are millions of Lawyers in NYC- who can you trust as CHASE will just pay them off to comply with their loan sharking ways. I am not religious but most have known that Greed lurks in every one of us and when chase tasted the Gold, they had to have more, no matter whose lives they hurt. the Exec Board is accustomed to hype salaries, bonueses, sign on bonuses, sign off bonuses, et al that they don't realize what is norm. Many have overabundence, lost their ethics and morals and their passion for InvestBanking and qualify of life.
Mankind is killing himself b/c he fails to realize he is connected with the rest of us. when one falls, we all fall and you can see that via our economic network. Men who seek power and domination over others for Ego behave in such ways, including corporations- who create their own rules and make it hard for all of us to bank. All the banks follow suit in dysfuctional ways thus were would we bank. Credit Unions are very difficult to join and keeping your funds at home is inefficient. I think it's time perhaps the People need to create their own rules and establish a new banking system- one that is Fair and One for All b/c after all, a bank is a vehichle to transport YOUR money and not anything else. the Investment part of a bank is to increase YOUR money with low and high risk trades. They profit by charging for services and more so FEES which have gone out of control.
I would love to find a firm who feels they can beat this Deleware inc entity in a class action and put this bank down to sleep permaently- this would of course, take years and millions. chase could not sue me b/c I am in NYC and they are under the rule of Del inc. The attorney general has to be involved, state and local constituents, Bank regulators and others who monitor banks- I would question them too since no one at the SEC was monintoring banks!
One way, is to pull out of CHASE- which does cause them to act desperate and create new fees, raise rates. The economy also causes them to behave irrationally. There are other avenues to curb their activities in which a lawyer would know. A guy from TX sued Blockbuster and tis why now we don't have any more fees! I wonder who his lawyer was!
I have to find a temp bank and quietly w/draw my funds otherwise I bet they will charge me! |

Class action against Chase Bank
I've had a credit card with Chase since 2001. I have had a fixed 7.9APR since than. That is 8 years. I get my July statemet and my APR has doubled to 14%. I call and ask them what has happened and they told me they can change the terms at anytime. They told me they sent me a letter notifying me of the changes and that I had an opt out option. I never got this letter and the guy in customer service told me I can cancel the card and keep my old rate; or keep my card active and have the rate double. I have an 8,000$ balance, why would I want my rate doubled? I chose to cancel my card, which they did, and they told me everything would be fixed and taken care of by the next statement. My next statement comes, nothing has changed. I call them again, get blind transfered around, spoke to representatives who were either rude and/or hung up on me and finally an idiot "supervisor" who told me theres nothing I can do. I got as many names and locations as possible. I would like to partake in any class action or general lawsuit against this practice. Theres no possible way this is allowed by the Truth and Lending Act. Having a FIXED APR for 8 years and than getting it doubled because "they can"? I would understand if this was a variable apr and I simply screwed up but chase is changing the terms of the original deal and this has to be against the law. How do I fight this? |

Class Action
Same here as many others. I was a former WAMU customer. I have always paid on time, never late, maintained a reasonalble balance, and have good credit. I got a letter saying they were increasing my interest rate to 29.9% and then a few days later I got a letter that they were closing my account. No warning, no reason. Just jacked my rate and closed it. |

Chase Credit Card
Join the club right? I too am being ripped off by Chase. My interest rate went through the roof,as did my payment. They said they were closing my card for no apparent reason but did'nt Big deal who wants it anyway at a 30% interest rate. When I called I too was given not logical reason for the increase and told if it was a hardship then I should file bankruptcy. Are they getting more money from the government this way? Who tells a customer to do this? Apparently Chase. How can a company take advantage of the people like this and no one will help. They might as well be putting a gun to our heads and robbing us same scenario. One thing that really made me upset is when I closed my bank account when Chase took over I changed my bank information to make my payment online. Chase decided to take the money out of my old account unauthorized then charged me a late fee three times when they kept doing it. Customer service was a joke Yes I was right but they could not reverse the late charges They didn't really give me a reason just was very rude with me. The person whom I talked to last even refused to let me talk to his supervisor.Any information about lawsuits please let me know HELP SOMEBODY! Just wanted to add watch your bill. I pay online My payment is the same always. I don't know why but I was online checking my account and noticed the payment due was one dollar higher than normal. If I had not caught it I would have been paying a late fee I did complain to the district attorney and got a call from Chase immediately wanting to talk to me. I haven't yet I do believe if I do it will be the same scenario that all others have heard. Just bend over right? I am wondering will we be charged a fine now if we pay off early. They charge for everything else. I had to laugh on the news the other day they said the economy was getting better Chase Morgan had billions of dollars profit this quarter Gee I wonder how they did that? |

RE: I guess there is a class action lawsuit pening
I am interested in a class action suit against Chase. My problem is the following: if the Agreement says that the APR on the account I opened is Prime Rate plus 6.99, how is that when the Prime Rate goes down, Chase doesn't lower the APR? Above that, as we all know they started raising APR. Isn't this a breach of contract?

RE: Class action against Chase Bank
also a victim of chase. my husband has/had a chase card which he actually charged about 2500.00, and now suddenly his balance is 7400.00. his interest rate was jacked up to 29.99% and they're asking for a min pymt of 524.month- when he's been paying 150. for the past year. i've sent them three letters since june- cease and desist with their 5000 phone calls a day/ and asking them for a detailed history of his actual purchases on card versus their erroneous fees/interest charges/ i get no reply. and when i ask them about if i answer the phone- they are just plain rude. they actually say "well, if you sent a letter to that address a robot opens the mail and no one would respond to your letter" I ask them, how does the robot recognize my freaking check then? they're killing us. i want to join a suit against them. |

RE: Lawsuit Info Needed
when chase jumped my rate and my monthly min paymt i phoned them to say i could not pay, and asked if they would stop their 'over the limit'fees, because of their rate hike, and late fees because i couldn't pay what they now demanded, after paying on time for over a year. they said no, and furthermore, that they wouldn't even accept a partial payment until i could prove to them based on my income that i could afford it?? what?? if i can't afford this then how do you expect me to pay the jacked up amounts? omg. i give up, i've looked into refinancing and getting equity to pay them off, or taking from my 401 but they are truly a scam..not a bank..not a lender..they are indeed a scam. |

his reply ........YES!! holy cow they are scamming everyone. I told him not to pay it. |

Anyone that has had their Chase card cancelled recently, that was previously a WaMU Card, might contact an attorney in San Francisco - GIRARD GIBBS LLP. telephone number; 415 981 4800. FAX: 415 981 4846. EMAIL: mail@girardgibbs.com. Website: www.girardgibbs.com. My card was recently cancelled when I tried to use it to order vitamins. I had received no prior notice, and prior to May 09, I'd had a zero balance. I called and was told my card was cancelled and I'd receive a notice. I've never been late, always paid more than minimum, but received a form letter explaining it was based on my credit report from Experian. I was livid, started searching on internet and found Girard Gibbs whom I called and also sent email. They are currently searching, taking calls and complaints for a possible class action suit, mainly on those card holders that were previous WaMu card holders. They are REALLY INTERESTED IF YOU HAVE YOUR NOTICE AND LEFT BOTTOM OF LETTER SAYS: WAMUCLOSURE1.
Check out your letters and give Gibbs a call.
I also did file a complaint with Dept of Treasury, Office of Comptroller of Currency (OCC), They monitor all National Banks and Chase is one of them. They are reviewing my complaint, and there may BE STRENGTH IN NUMBERS! Telephone: 1 800 613 6743. Website: www.helpwithmybank.gov.
good luck. |

Class Action - Chase Bank
I had a thought: If there are no class action suits against Chase Bank, thn why don't we ALL refuse to pay them. Why, you ask, I'll tell you. You know Chase needed our tax dollars to stay afloat. Then, they thanked us for those tax dollars by cancelling all our small cards. Why don't we rufuse to pay them because they did NOT keep up their end of the bargain??? Here's how. Call a local consumer attorney in your city. Ask that attorney how much they charge per hour. Then, ask how much would it cost to get a consumer case on your local court docket. Look at your remaining unpaid card balance. I'm beting in most of our cases, Chase would go into the red for each law suit! They CANNOT afford this! If they sue one of us...they have to sue all of us! Here's my info: My unpaid balance is just under $3,200. In my area consumer law attorneys charge $200 per hour and the court docket cost $3000. So, CHase would start out in the red if they tried to sue me over non-payment. If we ALL refuse to pay, they cannot afford to sue us all! Who is with me??? |

Chase Bank
I used to be a customer of Washington Mutual before chase took over, I was able to handle my banking online with no problems. but with chase they take a debit amount off your Balance and if the place don't take their money within 3 days they put it back on but do they notify you that it's been put back on? NO they don't. I have been watching my account very closely online and and the totals bounce all over the place, therefore confusing the customer into thinking they have a Balance that they don't have and then Bang! here shows up a bounce fee and I for one am sick of banks that do that. I would be very interested in joining a class action lawsuit. |

RE: UPDATE: My class action
Through ban purchases, Chase bank has acquired all of the lines of credit that my small business has.
even though I have never missed a payment, and never been late, and periodically have paid off these accounts, they have arbitrarily cancelled lines of credit ==no warning just gone.
Chase bank is a monster and needs to be stopped. How can I join a suit against them.
Thank you

I've been tagged
This week the great and powerful Chase has increased my life of the loan rate on 2 cards. $1000.00 for the two. I received nothing by any type of mail. Was advised closing my account would not change the increase and then told I could take a 7.99 rate for 2 years or file bankruptcy. A class action suite should be on our horizons. Also, maybe we should take out an add in USA Today, Wall Street Journal,etc.. with a signed petition. I think the refusal to pay until acceptable terms are reached should be included in the ad. |

Chase got us all
I was amazed at the amount of gripes against Chase. Glad to know I'm not alone. In 2 short weeks they have destroyed my credit. Case in point: July 09 I bought a new $20,000 car at 2.9%, August 09 I couldn't even secure credit to buy a $500 couch at RoomsToGo. They lowered the limits on 2 of my cards to just above my balance due and closed 1 other card. All with no notice and for no really valid reason except that they could. Now because of this my credit card from another bank sent me notice that they too are lowering my limit because of my new debt ratio. My credit score was 724, which did take a while to achieve, and now has fallen to the low 600s. Never a late payment in the 10+ years of banking with them. Too many people it seems are being taken by them. I too have filed complaints with the OCC (helpwithmybank.com) and the FTC, but not really holding my breath that anything will come of it. But I WILL NOT go down without a fight and I don't think anyone else should either. |

RE: IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
Chase is strong arming me into paying higher payments; how can this be allowed?! My payment has gone from $400 to 1100 but they say my interest rate has not changed. Now, I can keep my lower payment but raise the interest rate to 7.99. They are strong arming the consumer into higher interest rates. This is one of the many horrible things the banks are doing to the U.S. Citizens. We live in the U.S., how can we keep getting ripped off by the banks!!! |

RE: Destroy Chase
Quote: screwchase I'm in the same boat - I took them up on their offer, I pay more than the minimum on time every month on every card I have, and *WHAM*!

A solution for engaging a class action firm
Guys, this is a shameless plug, but it will help you in finding a class action firm to look at your chase ordeal.
Fill out a profile (each of you) on http://www.BankClassActions.com there your information is private except that class action law firms with cases already pending against Chase will be allowed to peruse your profile and the answers you've written to questions about your particular issue with chase. It has a good probability of creating interest from a class action firm -or- it will find an existing case you can join in which case you'll be invited directly by the firm..

How about a small claim court case
Actually I've not been hit with the minimum monthly payment increase yet. But I have no idea why... I have $10K on my credit card at 3.99% under exactly the same deal. I checked all my mail and do not see anything about the increase and my August payment was 2%.
But this makes me thinking of what would I do in this case. How about this strategy:
1) Transfer your debt to another account. This will cost you something of course...
2) File a small claim court case to refund your 3% fee paid and all the interest paid because either Chase broke the contract (by increasing monthly payment) or contract was fraudulent (because it does not say that payment may increase. And why cant they say that my payment will be 100% instead of only 5%...). In my case this is about $1K and should cover transfer expences.
What do you think? |

Let me tell you why I hate Chase
I opened up a credit account in May 2009 to pay for my husband's birthday present ...a trip to Las Vegas. I was approved and received a credit limit of $4500. I paid for the trip and things for the trip and still had over $2000 in credit available. On Sept. 11, 2009, we went on our trip only to find out from the hotel that my credit card wasn't working. I call the rude pigs at Chase who informed me that my account came up in their queue yesterday (9/10) and they decided to lower my limit to what I owed. This was done without any warning so lo and behold my husband's trip was ruined because we had a small amount of funds in cash available to us (checked online and it still said I had $2100). I have always paid on time and always more than the minimum (minimum $21, paid $300 last month). I hope these SOBs burn in hell. I also must say if they took or take any bailout money I will personally go to Washington and make sure to see to their demise. They are jerks and they hire jerks. THEY SUCK! |

Chase rising
Chase bank seems to be making money off rising interest rates. Is there any stop to this? Please let me know if there is a class action suit against these practices!
My Facts, I have had same CHASE business credit card since...2002? In 2006 rate was 9.99% - August 2008 rate was 10.99%. February 2009 (when was bailout?) my rate started increasing 11.24% - May 2009 15.55% - July 9th, 2009 17.56%. Get this...July 31st it increased to 22.24%. Interest rate is now 24.24%!!!! Bottom line, seven months...rate more than DOUBLED!
Due date jumps around so much - July was two payments due in one calendar month. A couple days late nets you a $39.00 late fee and an interest rate increase.
I pay more than minimum payment, have even paid double payments then got charged a late fee because my payment got there before the next billing date!!!
How does Chase get away with taking advantage of people?
I closed the account in July of 2009, interest rate keeps going up.
I have not used the account, cut up the card, in November 2008 (when the rate was 10.99%)
I closed the account officially at 17.56%, it is now 24.24%...again, how can they do that???
Class action suit is desperately needed against these practices!
P.S. I called chase today and their response to my asking if there was anything to be done about these rising rates was "Due to current economic conditions, there is no department to address that" |

TIME TO FIGHT BACK!
Here’s the scoop: JPMChase’s stock price has skyrocketed recently, mainly on the backs of the consumers they screwed, like us, and it makes me absolutely sick. They should be going bankrupt and begging for mercy, not reporting record profits after the BS they’ve been pulling. It’s just plain wrong, and we need to collectively rectify that.
I think it’s time to spread rumors about Chase going belly up…let’s see if we can drive their stock down to zero and kick those SOBs to the curb. I want to see Jamie Dimon crying to the media to squelch rumors of their demise…
Oh, and did you know that via the Chase corporate website, you can request vast amounts of printed material (annual reports and the like) to be sent to, well, anyone – including ALL of Chase’s execs – just type in their name, a disparaging title, and their corp office address, and they’ll spend oodles of money printing and mailing crap to themselves! Can you say “corporate waste?”
Here’s where you order it:
http://investor.shareholder.com/jpmorganchase/investorkit.cfm
Here’s where to send it:
(Executive Name Here)
Chief Theft Officer (or similar fun title)
JPMorgan Chase & Co.
270 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10017-2070
212-270-7325
Oh, how I loathe those bastards… |

RE: class action suit chase bank
I am interested as well. I have (had) a $0 balance on my chase card, only to have them add bogus finance charges onto it. They will not take them off either. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General. They handled my former complaint with Chase for the same thing a few years ago. But again, here we go, they are doing it again.

Use Your Power Against Chase
Going to take Chase on?
1) Whether it is an online account you have or you get paper bills and mailings, make sure you have them all printed out and available to you.
2) Print out all emails you have sent Chase and all they've sent you-don't trust Chase's online storage.
3) Write one concise letter stating in detail what Chase has done to you, the action you are taking against Chase (don't just threaten, put some meat into that letter) and start these letters with: To whom it may concern, then after your signature cc: all your state Senators and Congressmen, State Office of your state's Comptroller of the Currency, your personal attorney, your class action attorney, all members of Chase Board of Directors, Chase's legal department, all Chase top Corporate Officers (by name), the IRS, the FBI, the Secret Service (yes, they watch over bank activities) and every judge on the Federal Supreme Court (by name).
3) THEN, make 200 copies of this letter on decent off-white printer paper.
4) BUY 200 legal size envelopes to match.
5) IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, select 10 top people on your cc: list and overnight the letter requiring their personal signature. (These are the letters that get read!)Use the Post Office as it is cheaper.
6) Also, IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, select another top 10 names and send them letters third-day air with signature required. (These also get read!)
7) Write another letter to the Editor of your hometown paper, keep it brief, tell them what you are doing to Chase, and enclose a copy of THE letter.
8) Whether you like him or not, send a letter to President Obama's WIFE. Women who receive 10,000+ complaint letters are bound to bring it up to their husbands.)
9) Study the Class Action websites and involve yourself in as many as you possibly can and make sure they are legit. Send NO ONE any money.
10) THE MOST IMOPORTANT FOLLOW UP JOB OF YOUR LIFE!!! CHOOSE ANOTHER TOP BANK (WELLS FARGO FOR EXAMPLE), OPEN SAVINGS, CHECKING, MONEY MARKET AND/OR CD ACCOUNTS WITH THEM AND HAVE CHASE WIRE YOUR MONEY INTO YOUR NEW BANK ACCOUNTS. LEAVE CHASE WITH WRITTEN PROOF THAT YOUR ACCOUNTS ARE CLOSED.
Now, if you have a home or auto loan with Chase, try getting a new and better loan, for example, with your new bank.
For current and former members of our Armed Forces, try USAA. They ONLY do business with current and former members of the Armed Forces and their extended families and they offer services that every major bank offers, have better interest rates, better credit cards, and also offer car, renters, home owners insurance and many other services, including auto/truck/RV loans, debt consolidation and mortgages. They are an absolute professional pleasure to deal with.
You really do have consumer power if you focus your energy like taking aim with a high powered rifle instead of going in blasting threats around like a pea shooter. You WILL get results.
Just think of it...................at least 3 million people in one day taking only $100 each out of their Chase accounts! Then keep multiplying until there is no Chase left. That's a goal worth working toward. |

RE: I'm ready to join the class action
Please let me know what you have done. Chase just did the same thing to me. I have been a valued member for 20 years, in fact I worked for the company 20 years ago and several bank ownerships ago! I would have never used the convenience check had I known this crap would happen! Apparently my 20 years of paying them and never having a late payment means nothing to them! We have a friend that had over 22K debt with them, and they just settled for 2K. The government has given them how many billions of dollars, and they are turning a record profit this year! Things that make you go hummmm! Thanks for any help you can give me and let me know about any class action you may have joined against the mean bank! |

RE: Use Your Power Against Chase
Since it sounds like you have done this, is there any way you have a list of all of these people's names and address's within exception of course of the state senators and local newspapers? This would make it easier for others to join in your wonderful thought process in screwing the Chase bank! Post on the blog or make a link that people can goto off of a word or apple document. Let others quickly follow in your footsteps! Thanks. |

RE: Chase checking
Califorina
We just had the shock of our lives this month. My spouse and I are disabled, all of our income is from disability!
It is automatically deposited and completely accounted for by Chase. Every month we pay our bills first, buy our monthly staples, and then keep careful watch over the checkbook and bank balance. We have suddenly found ourselves owing over $300 dollars this month in insufficient fund charges. We don't do this. We budget, keep receipts and watch the bank balance online several times a week, keeping track of what has cleared and what still needs to clear. Here it is Christmas time, kids home, and Chase took our food money by some convoluted way of banking. We had over $400 left when they started putting the $33 per transaction charges to our account. |

I hate Chase
I am one of the switch overs from Washington Mutual, Chase did not send me the paper work durinthe turn over. The Wa Mu procedures are so different. They process debit purchases in order of amount not the dates they were done. I think that Chase needs to be held responsible for their actions. i have herd that even the President of the US has saidsomething about Chase and their overdraft crap.I want to sue them and need to know how to do it.
If anyone has any idea how to do this please let me know.

Lawsuit Against Chase
I am a lawyer and I am so angry at Chase I want to sue them. I have read some of the stories and have had a similar problem....Is anyone interested in getting together and suing Chase? I believe they have violated numerous federal and state (Texas) fair debt collection practices.... |

Class Action Lawsuit against Chase
I have a WAMU business card that was taken over by Chase.
My interest rate was fixed at 8.99% and it was suddenly changed to a variable one of 10.24% and now it is at 15.24%. I never agreed to the interest rate change. Has anyone contacted a lawyer to try and get a class action law suit started?
I have prepaid legal services and would be willing to get consul on this but I wanted to see if anyone had done this before I start.
Let me know,
Faustino Ramirez. |

RE: Chase checking
Recently, Chase bank bilked my husband and I out of approximately $400. It is like another blogger stated that because of their convoluted thievery they just take it and if you complain.......My husband and I went in the office to complain and showed them exactly what they were doing that was illegal. What happen was a $200 check came in and we didn't have $200 in the account at that time. I get direct deposit. This was during christmas holidays and we were hoping that the holidays would delay transactions because the banks were closed. Anyway, all of our other bills and debits had been paid at least a week before the $200 check was paid by Chase. I checked my account everyday. When the $200 check came instead of charging the one overdraft fee they place 7 already paid items behind that check and charged me 7 overdraft fees. I went in and told them that those charges had cleared a week ago and they could not charge me overdrafts on already paid items. In fact my car note was automatically debited and paid a week before that, and I called them and they told me when the money was debited from my account and when it was received into their accounts. I told Chase that.....they were busted. so the next time I came in they called me to the side and told me they were closing my account and handed me a security letter stating that I was not allowed on their premises. That was Saturday 1/9/2010. Then this morning I checked for my rewards points totalling almost $100 and they stole those too plus the $25.00 I paid in December to have them for 2010. I am filing something against them so if you have a class actions going please contact me at themagicjuan_1@hotmail.com. I am so ready and I can prove what they did to me and it is highly illegal. |

I HATE CHASE BANK!!!!
Like all of you, I have been "touched" by Chase Bank. I deposited $200.00 on 12/26/09, Saturday but it did not get posted until 12/29/09, Tuesday. This made 6 NSF fees for $34.00 each. Total of $204.00. I went in to try and reason with their mistake. Of course nothing got done. Surprise, Surprise!!! Not I see that they have taken the $ out of our joint account, which made it overdrawn. But my husband has overdraft protection from his savings, which does not have my name on it. Did anyone hear about the swering in of the Surgeon General, Regina Benjamin? If not, she is my cousin. (BE NICE!) I will use everything in my power to break Chase Bank even if it means using her name. In the meantime, E mail Sect of the Treas, Timothy Geithner, Deputy Sec of the Treas, Neal S. Wolin. Also, Rosie Rios, Treas of US and Mark A. Patterson. Everybody, and I do mean evertbody, flood www.helpwithmybank.gov. I will be in touch!!! |

Chase need to feel the pain they give their customers
This is what I sent Chase. They are not a very considerate company. I paid them off and had my account closed. I have never been late and I just realized I had a 23% interest, it was no way near that in the beginning... that is absurd... I don't deserve that and will not stand for it... I am going to try to warn everyone... they are not a fair company. Has anyone else had this problem... now they are trying to charge me finance charges even though my bill was paid in full before the due date... Am I wrong? I know there are two sides to every story... Please get their side and get back with me... There is no reason for the interest rate or the finance charges after the account is paid in full. Anyone has a class actions suit against them... I want in... this is the only way they will understand what they are doing is wrong.
"To whom it may concern:
I have been a customer of Chase for a little over two years. In that time frame, I can not remember ever being late with a payment. In November, my payment did not post to my account until a day later. I received a late fee. During that same time I set up the payment for November, I also set up an automatic payment for December. With that being said, when the late fee occurred in November, I was unaware of it. So in turn, I was charged another late fee in December. I found out I was unable to use my card when I called to try to have my replacement card activated, after my due date. I do not think this was fair. I did not receive an email or letter letting me know that I was being charged two late fees. Because of the lack of concern for this customer, me. I decided it would be best if I paid off Chase and close the account. I called to have the account paid in full on 18 Jan 2010 before my due date. I was informed even though I am paying the account in full, I will still be charged finance charges. Is this fair? I think not. I have requested that a copy of the credit card agreement be sent to me stating that I have to pay additional charges after my balance is paid in full before the due date. I am very disappointed that this company would do this to a customer during these times. I hope whatever charges that are sent to me is worth losing one customer over. A coworker warned me about being with Chase, I guess I should have listened. Hopefully, I can warn the next person and they will listen. I am very sadden by this and hope you all treat the next customers with more courtesy and respect." |

For all Chase haters.
I have fixed my problems with this bank. Call JPMorganChase in New York. 800/242-7324 and ask for Public Relations Department. Make sure you tell the receptionist a short tale of your problem. If you want to speak to the top dog, his name is James L. Dimon. He is the one getting your money in his bonus!!! Did anyone lodge a complaint on the website? Another way to mess with them is to NOT!!! close your account. Keep $2.00 in your account. Once in a while, deposit $2.00 to mess up their bookkeeping. I used to reconcile accounts and I hated people who did things like this. I live in Florida and checked with lawyers. There is no class actions against Chase at this time. Now, remember, you did not get this info from me. GOOD LUCK!!! |

I have had an experience similar to some of yours. I have an excellent credit rating, and they changed my APR to 27% or so. I was paying online and getting my statement online, so I never noticed until months later. |

Class action against CHASE
National Class Action Lawsuit Filed
As you may know, more than two dozen federal class action lawsuits were filed against Chase in courts throughout the country, and recently, they were all consolidated and transferred to Judge Chesney of the Northern District of California.
The master class action complaint alleges that hundreds of thousands of consumers accepted Chase’s offer for a fixed, low interest rate loan with a 2% minimum payment that would apply until the balance was paid off. The lawsuit alleges that Chase violated its agreement with consumers when it raised the monthly minimum payment from 2% to 5% and, for some cardholders, charged a $10 service fee in addition to the increased monthly payment. The proposed class is currently defined as:
All persons or entities in the United States who entered into a loan agreement with Chase, whereby Chase promised a fixed APR until the loan balance was paid in full, but who have been charged, or notified by Chase that they will be required to make monthly minimum payments of 5% of their outstanding loan balance.
A copy of the master consolidated complaint can be found on our website at www.girardgibbs.com/chase.asp.

RE: Class action against CHASE
It is unbelievable what CHASE is getting away with concerning NSF fees. All this country has gone through and they continue to raise their ugly head. The criminal manner in which they manipulate accounts in order to drain people of money is more than worthy of a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I pray for lawyers who will step up to the plate and protect the public from the Chase big shots! |

RE: Class action against CHASE
Looking for people or and attorney that will pursue a class action against Chase Bank for outsourcing our private information out to India and all sorts of other foreign countries. No wonder there is so much identity fraud. Called CEO Jamie Dimon office to complain and all they said was go ahead ....sue us. They don't even care. Thats our TARP bailout money at work... Jamie Dimon is a fraud and a crook.
Lets put these people out of the position they are in with a call to the Board at Chase with a class action.

Add me to the list...
I just want this to stop. I get sick to my stomach when I get anything in the mail from Chase. Wanted to close my account. Was told had to pay off the negative balance ($137.00 which includes at least two NSF fees). Was told by branch manager that as long as I kept the account active (like making a small deposit until it was at a zero balance) that nothing would happen. If there were no activity in two months it would be sent to collections. First I made a $5.00 deposit. Next month I made a $100.00 deposit. I noticed that my account was at a zero balance and I was stupid enough to think maybe they've heard all of these complaints and are actually beginning to act human, and maybe waived one of the fees. (yes, I like to dream...) HA! They did a "write-off" and sent it into collections, and turned me in to ChexSystems.
This is only a very small issue for me, I've been going through this for way too long. I've been with the same bank for almost 20 years, with no problems until a few years ago. I really want to fight, I have limited energy and am on a fixed income. Can't even afford to talk to an attorney. Would like to hear more about that class action suit. Thank you all so much for your "ears & shoulder"! |

RE: Lawsuit Against Chase
Count me in. Chase just took over $800 out of my checking account for a checking account I had with WaMu prior to the buy out. Chase says it was written off debt. I say it was a closed account due to identity theft. My proof is that WaMu opened a new account the same day. Chase is unwilling to budge. |

Chase fraudulently charges fees!
I want to sue Chase Bank! My WAMU account was fin until Chase came along and now suddenly there's tons of errors with the deposits I make by atm. I now keep my receipts as proof showing what time I make the deposits. Thankfully I kept 2 receipts from last night showing the date and time. This morning, I got 2 overdraft fees! Why?! I made the deposit before the cut off time. I called the 800 operator. She simply said "sorry, it's an error, I'll reverse the 2 fees." Why were the fees charged in the first place?!! She had ZERO answer. Nothing. I told her this unbelievable, it's illegal, and I want to start a class action lawsuit. She still said nothing! She must hear this all day long! They must be trained not to say anything. They're probably reading our posts here. Too late, I've printed out proof from my online statements along with printed time stamped receipts as proof.
People, keep your receipts, keep your proof, ALWAYS get an atm receipt. And, when you do any transaction at the bank, ALWAYS get a receipt, make sure they print the date and time on the receipt. I find it VERY suspicious that you have to tell them to give you a detailed receipt showing date and time! If you don't, the receipts give vague information! Which crazy! But it's proof that they're trying to cover their tracks, if we don't have receipts, it's hard to prove.
Instead of posting these posts, we need to talk to an attorney.

RE: Chase fraudulently charges fees!
On another matter with Chase, since they took over my mortgage from WaMu, it has been a nightmare of properly posting my mortgage payments. They have "lost" at least 2 payments and we have proven that we made them. Now they are
dunning us for those two "missed" payments. Anyone else have these problems with Chase? |

Interested in Class Action
I was a WaMu customer and had a credit card through them. When Chase took over I was never notified nor did I receive any paperwork or I would have closed my account immediately! I have had previous bad encounters with Chase and would never apply for any credit through them. I had been making all my payments on time. Suddenly they just closed my account and more than tripled the amount due for no reason except to ensure that I would be late and then they could increase the interest rate, add late fees. No matter how much I pay I can't keep up. I am a single mother and this is ridiculous. I owe more than $7000 now which is crazy. I think what they are doing is criminal and there is no working with them. Something needs to change. |

Anyone with Chase Mortgages?
I have a Chase mortage and I am amazed at some of the things I have read on this forum and how many of the same things I am going through with them about my mortgate.
Long story short, Chase is foreclosing on me even though I have been working with them on a loan mod and making my payments ontime and doing everything they have told me to do.
There isn't really enough room here to go into everything that they have done over the past year but here are some of the highlights-
I am not proud of falling behind, but I did back in 2008. Everything that could have happened did. Our furnace went out during the coldest part of the winter. While the repair guy was fixing it he heard a clicking coming from my breaker box and when we checked it out the main breaker was arcing and the whole box was hot... so we had to call an electrician in to replace our entire box. THEN our vehicle broke!
It simply was more than what we could handle happening all at once and it snowballed on us. Next thing we knew we were behind on our mortgage. Normally I say mortgage first above every other bill, but I had to have transportation to get to work, we had to have heat so we wouldn't freeze, and we definitely had to fix the breaker box or the house would have burnt down!
So that's the why.
We started working with Chase to get caught up and back on track. I originally asked if I could simply start making a mortgage payment and a half each month until I was caught up and they told me it didn't work that way and that I had to follow their payment plan they setup.
They asked for tons of paperwork too. The odd part was they refused to accept anything mailed to them via priority mail or Fed Ex. Everything had to be faxed. The proble was though that we'd fax everything and a week later they would tell us they didn't recieve it even though we had a confirmation it went through. Or they would say they had some of the paperwork but not all of it and I had to refax that.
Everytime I would call them I would get a different person and no matter how many times I asked to speak to the person I dealt with the last time they would tell me they couldn't transfer any calls. I'd have to start all over and explain everything each time I would call.
I was finally told everything looked like it was going to go through. I didn't hear anything from Chase so I called to see what was going on and was told the loan mod was rejected because I make too much money! I was told they would submit me for another loan mod program.
During all of this time I had an ARM adjustment come due and I asked if I should start paying the higher amount and they said no, to keep paying the same amount that I had been paying.
So I get a letter saying I was approved for a loan mod but they needed some final information to complete things. I call Chase and they don't have any idea what I am talking about! They told me I was rejected even though I had a letter right in front of me. Then they dropped a bomb on me and told me that I was over eight months behind on my mortgage. I was mortified and asked how.
As they explained it, since I was on a payment plan, and there had been an ARM increase to my mortgage that technically all the while I was making payments via Western Union like they told us to do, that it wasn't being applied towards my mortgage, at least not in full.
They told me not to worry that things were under review and to keep making payments. |

Anyone with Chase Mortgages? continued...
We complied and continued paying through Western Union.
I get a call from Chase and am told that everything is looking good and should hopefully be resolved soon and to 'hang in there'. This was the first time they had called me and I was happy and feeling good that it would finally be back on track soon.
A week later my doorbell rings and I am given foreclosure papers! I called Chase and they had no idea about the call I recieved the week prior, but as far as the foreclosure papers that I was served with they said don't worry about them! They told me they always file the legal avenue the same time they are working on a loan mod 'just in case', and again said not to worry. They had me refax all my financials to them again!
Well I was worried! Especially when I started getting other letters telling me my house is listed as going up for auction soon. I called Chase again to get a status and this time they told me they rejected my payment and sent it back! I was shocked and told them this was the first I heard anything about this and asked when it was rejected. They told me it was sent back over two weeks prior, yet I was never informed.
Since we pay through Western Union we called and sure enough it was waiting for us, but nobody from Western Union informed us either. We had no idea and thought we had made our payment just as they told us to do.
Now since they sent the payment back... you guessed it, they are saying I am a month more behind! No matter what I do they find something else to make me further behind, at least on their books. They are stealing our house from us!
We have a lawyer but he is telling me bankruptcy is the only option I have. I totally contest that we are as behind as many months as Chase is saying.
I know this was lengthy, and to be honest if someone was telling this to me I would be saying 'yeah right'. I asked my lawyer though if he had ever heard of anything as crazy sounding as this and he said unfortunately he has.
This company is unethical and immoral and should be shut down. |

Becareful because soon you could be in the exact same situation I am in.
Keep every single payment transaction you make with them.
I wonder if they got bailout money that covers foreclosed homes and protects Chase from losing money. Why else would a bank seem to want people to lose their houses? It's never been good for anyone, not the home owner, not the neighborhood, and not the bank since they never sell the house for market value. And add in today's housing market where houses are already lower in value than they were a couple years ago.
Now if the bank is protected and already 'paid' via any bailout money, then why would they care? In fact they already have their money so even if they sell a foreclosed house at half it's original value it's still profit for them.
Just be careful is all I am saying.
I wish there was a class action suit for mortgages, I would be joining that one for sure! |

Class action suit with Chase
I am another victim of Chase and feel very strongly that they need to be stopped. If there is any class action suits in progress against their credit card department please let me know and I will send the additional information needed regarding my experience with them. |

RE: Oh my gosh
I have the same problem as all of you this company has caused me many sleepless nights telling me I owe money that I don't owe!!!! Last year they tried telling me that I missed 3 months of mortgage payments and when I proved to them with my bank statements that I didn't miss these payments they sent me another paper stating that I missed 3 payments the year before and so on and so on. I am currently still in bankruptcy which included Chase Home Finance. I am currently working with my bankruptcy lawyer on this matter. I also have another problem I sent them my last 2 mortgage payments and because they didn't notify me these had to be certified checks they want me to send these 2 payments again but if it is a problem then why did they cash these 2 checks and then keep my money in what they call a suspense unavailable account? My lawyer is going to be contacting a judge to help resolve this when I am resolved I am still going to contact people including the Attny. Gen. have paper work in process contact your Atty. Gen. as well and your BBB. I will write to everyone I can to help resolve this matter. |

unethical chexsystem record created by chase bank to screw me
I had 3-4 credit cards with chase bank with very high credit limits up to $20000. In 2009 they made arbitrary decision to close my accounts at their whims due to troubles of stock market meltdown. I called them and kept on discussing with them about why they have closed my account when in past 9 years as their coustomer I didn't even once delay a payment or had any other kind of irresponsible financial behaviour exhibited in my relationship. I always had credit scor higher than 750. So I kept trying to get the answer and their representatives would fail to give me a reply.. so then I would request them to allow me to talk to their senior so I can get the answer. ..I think after being transferred 4-5 times at each level or getting number of another department I finally met a lady working with them as an analyst in fraud department to discuss this on phone. She gave me some baseless reason about my high debt to credit ratio and stuff. I notified to them that I had high debt but it was offered to me by financial institutions at 0% and all the debts that ended their 0% were timly paid back by me in full. Also at the time the last 0% offer was utilized by me from chase bank; at that time itself I had high debt from then availed 0% offers from many banks including chase bank. If my high debt was not a problem in past then why is it a problem now particularly given that I have not had any default ever on my record. So basically my debt was only for the reason that the financial institutions were willing to give me the money for free and I was responsible to take it and use it to my benifit and also return it in full by the end of available time of repayment to aviod cost of such capital. This reply annoyed her and she started fighting with me about me not being responsible by having high debt account in my name. I tried to pace her down but I lost my cool after a bit. So I told her that the banks collect the money from individual checking accounts and then play casino game of greed in stock marcket with account holders money and when institutions loose money in market then banks get the bailout from government. So if bank can do so, why can I not collect some money on 0% deal from banks and use it to my benifit(at least I'm not gambling with the money). This reply made that lady really mad on me and basically we ended up hanging up phone on one another after exchanging a lot of profanity. The real problem occured after this incident when Chase bank got a record put up with chexsystems against me for a fraud. This is a fake record created by them and I'm a person who will do sucide due to shame of earning bad name from fraud but will never do a wrong against the terms and conditions under which an account is opened. In 2010 (yesterday) Chase bank emailed me a coupon for $100 from them if I open a checking account with them. On going to their branch I came to know about the chexsystem record against me and they basically said they will not open a new account for me.
I request all the members over here to please share and advise me on what I should do to come out of this problem. |

Chase Bank is evil
A years ago, I made one late payment in 6 years of having a credit card with Chase Bank. It was only a couple of days late and they tripled my interest rate from 9.99% to 29.99%. I had a high balance, so I could no longer afford the huge minimum payment. I had just been diagnosed with cancer and was recovering from surgery. Also, my husband's place of employment had recently closed without any warning. I called Chase to explain my situation and I was treated terribly by an extremely rude and sarcastic representative. I told him that I understood their policy was to raise the interest rate with a late payment, but that going from 9.99% to 29.99% was unreasonable, especially because it was the first time I had ever been late and under my circumstances. His response was that Chase can do whatever they want and could even raise it even higher if they wanted to! He told me to make a $1200 payment and then they would then lower my interest rate. I made the high payment, instead of paying our mortgage on time that month, in the hope that he was telling the truth. Guess what? The representative had lied to me! Now we are close to filing bankruptcy because we were not able to make the huge payment to Chase and they are suing us. I would like to get involved in a class action suit against them. If anyone has information about this please let me know? Thanks |

Chase Closed My Account
I deposited a check from an estate account from the sale of a house my family owned. The deposited check ended up bouncing because I deposited my check too soon. The check for $125,000 had a hold for more than 10 days which I didn't have access to the money. In four days I could have had access to $8,000, but the check had not cleared, so access denied. Now, according to the bank, I am a liability because I have an access account (the lowest of the lowest account holder) of less than a year. The check and balance system of the bank worked and no money was ever available to me at any time. Still they closed my account and I feel like my bank should be working for me, to protect me and not act against me. No phone call, no call from my branch manager. I never had any access to the money, so how could I be a liability. The funny things was, I replaced the check with a new one for less the first amount, plus cash so I could have access to money while the majority of funds were on hold. I even asked my branch manager if that would be ok. She said I would be charged for the overdraft, they would mail me the bad check, but the account should be ok. Instead, I feel like I committed a crime and now this will be on my financial credit rating. |

Class action
I'm down earlier this year they where holding cash deposits for over 24hrs. I believe that violates the fare paper act. Not to mention a slew of other issues I have with them that seem to violate laws. |

RE: class action suit chase bank
I am in the process of selling my parents home due to Chase stealing our home with 40 years equity. My parents had a 2d mortgage for $35k, they had an optional insurance policy provided by Chase that stated that in the event one or both died before mortgage paid off this insurance would cover the balance. Both died when the balance reached $6k. My mother continued to pay when my father died. I continued to pay when she died until I found out that they were liable. I filed and they dragged their feet. I stopped paying them as they cost me 45 min. on average with each payment to locate Western Union receipted payments. They tried all kinds of things when it reached a low balance. They removed the escrow so that it went to tax sale and attempted to buy it for the balance of tax and mortgage. When I kept mentioning the insurance claim they sold the mortgage to another Chase entity. Huffington Post said they had 20 people who have had their home taken in this manner. So yes, I am interested in a class-action suit. I had retained an attorney to get them to honor their insurance policy and he threw in the towel. I don't know what type of attorney. The attorney before that charged me a retainer fee and did nothing. Tread carefully, Chase even punked the MD States Attorney who was putting a case against them together. |

RE: Never received a bill
It didn't matter. I had each of my payments to them documented by Western Union receipts. They would lose the payments stating that the amount was one cent different and said I paid late, when in actuality I always paid on the 30th or 31st, before it was due. These are tricks they do to frustrate you then they make rules up along the way. They tried to tell me I was a month behind and therefore, because I paid on the 30th or 31st the computer charged me as paying at the end of the month. I told him my payday was the 31st so I pay on that day to be compensated as the 1st. They tried to tell me I was a month behind and I put a lawyer on the phone and miraculously they found my payment and told me I didn't have to make another payment that month after all. At times they would try to charge me a $29 bill stating that I was having forclosure brought against me. We never got that removed because although I paid an additional $12.95 for same day payment with indisputable receipt, they never accepted my receipt and refused to show me their records which were in dispute, because it was my deceased mother's loan. My sister's boyfriend's son is now going through the same thing. Get on board and let's kick azz. |

Chase not a class act
My personal problems are minimal compared to most, buy they really are making things tough!
A legitimate overdraft of less than $100 has now mutated into several hundred during a period when the only activity was automatic deposits. Or so it should have been, had they not shuffled the order of my transactions to generate extra fees. Of course now there's fees on those fees, and two checks later, I'm still in the hole and haven't been able to resolve it.
A friend has screenshots of his transactions being re-arranged to turn one overdraft into several.
This group http://www.stockfraudnewswire.com/jpmorganchase/claim_filing.html is already going after Chase on securities fraud. Perhaps one of you has lost enough to interest them in the larger case?

Chase bank wrecked my credit score!
20 years ago I started with no credit. Bought a watch, made the payments on time and i was on my way. Opened up an account with washington mutual. Bought a few cars , paid them off, bought a home still paying on it and was never late nor missed a payment on any bill ever.
I have this mercedes and was recently thinking of getting a prius. Went down to trade it in and they ran my credit. The lady asked me why my credit score was so low. I said, its 750-770.
She says , no, its 649.
I was shocked. Turns out, my 14,000 dollar chase card
my 12,000 dollar case card
and my 18,000 dollar chase card limits had been cut down to more then half of what they were causing my credit score to drop over a hundred points in less then two months since I dod have some balances on these cards. None were over 50% of the credit limit by the way .
I called chase and they said I was high risk.
I asked her how could that be since Ive never been late of missed any payments on any bill ever? How is that high risk?
A week later they cut limits again. This time too a hundred dollars over the balances. This is nuts and criminal! Im at a financial loss due to this practice.
I did cancel all three cards afraid they will now charge me over draft fees , ect.
Very unfair and down right criminal.
Im all for a lawsuit against chase since they are screwing the public with the publics money. Its just not right and people should be aware of this shady practice.

Chase took my money
I would like to be added this is the second time that they did this to me and is what I wrote to them:
I received a call two weeks ago in reference to my outstanding balance in my business account. I made a payment arrangement of $20.00 per week and they gave me until the end of September to pay off the balance. I am married with 5 children and this money was to be used for them. Now I was coming in on Monday to make my payment of $20.00 as pre-arranged. I do not understand why my money was taken out but I do expect the money in the amount of $228.90 to be returned to my account by the end of the day tomorrow Aug. 16th if the money is not in my account by tomorrow I will go to small Claims Court to file a claim against Chase. I was keeping my word with making the payment arangement so I don’t understand why Chase is not keeping theirs.

overdratt line of credit
Anyone who has a Chase overdraft line of credit should be aware that Chase is "revoking" these. I believe they are doing this in order to get people to overdraw their account and pay $34 rather than the $5 it costs to access the line of credit. I had a $1000 overdraft line of credit for 20 years beginning with Home Savings, then transferring to Wamu then to Chase. Without telling me, they revoked the overdraft line of credit, charging me two $34 fees in the process. I was able to get them to reverse the fees but they never told me they were going to revoke it. Ther reason? High utilization of credit. I had two Chase cards that Chase lowered the limits on which raised the utilization ratio very high, then they revoked the line of credit due to high utilization! I think that is hogwash; I believe we are being punished for the reforms and I am being punished because I opted out of the agreement to pay $35 a pop to have a check or debit card charge authorized with insufficient funds on two other accounts. |

RE: Oh my gosh
I am interested in a class action against Chase Bank re: CD "Early Withdrawal Penalty"
Recently I discovered that the WAMU CD (Which now became CHASE BANK) that I had at 4.89% and an early withdrawal penalty of 6 months interest came due. I was not notified, but more importantly it renewed at .2% or $40.00 a year on a $20,000.00 deposit. I went into the bank as soon as I discovered the renewal. It was 4 days after the grace period. They had changed the terms of early withdrawal penalty to 3% of the PRINCIPLE plus $25.00. This is the the equivalent of 15 years of interest plus $25.00. Just a little outrageous. First they give you the lowest imaginable interest rate without notifying you and if you try to withdrawal your money they rip your face off by charging 3% of the Principle ($600.00 + $25.00) the equivalent of 15 years of interest
Has anyone else had this problem. If so, please contact me at "one. jewel4@Verizon.net ". Lets consider a class action lawsuit. I need some other CD holders who were deceived as I was.

RE: Anyone with Chase Mortgages?
To Nailedme2,
It has been several months since you posted (April/'10) and I'm curious as to how/if your situation has improved.
My saga is similar (though I've been going through the "trials", mods, lost paperwork, never complete paperwork and documentation, additional fees, countless hours on the phone, nearly 2 reams of paper sent or faxed, payments not applied to P.I.T.I., not a single mortgage statement since WAMU became Chase, lies, denials, depression, etc.) except mine has now reached THREE years.
Using my CHASE online account figures;
1) the last 24 months I have made 26 payments (which I knew of course),
2) have overpaid by 3 payments,
3) have not received credit for almost $9,000 in payments though they do acknowledge having received the funds,
4) am being told that I have not made a payment since December of 2009 (believe me when I say that I haven't missed any),
5) am being told that I owe them over $10,000 and that they will foreclose unless I "pay up",
6) can't print out any statements (online) since Chase took over because "there have been no transactions with this account" (even though my online statement lists over 70 "transactions",
7) have lived in and paid on this house for over 20 years (am not "under water" though I do have nearly $200,000 in equity),
8) am in desperate fear that they will foreclose and take my house and equity before I can prove to the powers-that-be (who ARE they?!!) that I am in the right (and I have a LOT of proof),
9) and am nearly suicidal over the whole thing. I'm just too stubborn to give up or in.
I've researched online for hundreds of hours regarding this and it all seems to come down to this; I can't do a damn thing. The mortgage banks are so poorly regulated that they can literally take your money, deny it, get away with it, and take your home.
I'm not asking for a modification, a "trial", any help, NOTHING except that they acknowledge and properly APPLY the funds that they have received...and then PLEASE leave me alone to quietly pay off my mortgage...month by month.
So...(sigh)...how's it going with you?

class action against chase bank
How many other people were suckered into believing they were going to receive a modification. At 5pm the day before the foreclosure sale you were told no they can't do it. Saturday
you are told there is no one working who can take your money to reinstate your loan. You call day of sale to California reconv. attorney who says just have Chase call and they will stop the sale. Chase won't call. All of this witnessed by third party on line with Chase 3-way. The party giving you the money to reinstate your loan so you don't lose your house you have lived in for 23 years. Oh yes, they take your equity too. |

Chase Bank-Need Class Action Suit
I just had a horrific experience with Chase Bank. I was doing Shadow Shopping, secret shopping for many reputable firms. Unfortunately, one firm took advantage of me. They were called 1st Point and the name of the man was Henry Weber. He sent me a money order to do a shop at Walmart and the 2nd half of the shop entailed me going to a currency exchange and sending the balance of the money to a person in Tennessee because Mr. Henry said money was stolen from that currency and they needed to find who was responsible. I went to Chase with the money order and the teller told me that he checked with his supervisor and they would need to hold the money order for a couple of days to make sure it cleared. It did. I was then sent two more money orders from the same company and Chase cleared them also. I later went on line and checked my account to find that Chase, after clearing these money orders, came back and charged my account and said they were counterfeit. I called Chase' fraud dept. and asked them to report this. They refused. They said it was my problem. They said they do this to customers all the time...it becomes the customers problem. I trusted Chase and now they are threatening me and refusing to close my account. They bounced my health insurance check. I am not working and suffering terribly as a result of this. Is there a lawyer out there willing to take on a Class Action Suit against Chase? It needs to be done. I know there are other people out there like me. We need to get an attorney who will do this! |

RE: Oh my gosh
HAMP Chase Bank is using loopholes to avoid modifying the loans of qualifying individuals. The major one is non communication and delaying. They purchased loan portfolios that were illegally written. Where is our Government watch dog in all this crookedness?
They are short sighted by foreclosing on mortgagors. Having many foreclosed properties on the market will drive the values down even more and cause a severe depressions in this country. Unfortunately, this country has few domestic benchmarks; real estate is one.
Chase will end up without investors or mortgagors. Their reputation is further tainted having Washington Mutual- the happy foreclosers -in their pod.
I am interested in finding an attorney firm (that is honest) is there one? to take on a class action suit against Chase Bank. Chase continues to hurt people who trusted them; and people who didn't have a choice in who purchassed their loan package.
Down with the house of Chase! |
