Doulbe Entry on credit report doe account Barclays sold to B of A
I sent this to Barclays and re-disputed the entry on 10/8. TransUnion contacted Barclays and they re-verified the balalnce as on 10/2008.
I would greatly appreciate if whoever gets this email forwards it to:
Tom Karinshak: Managing Director, Customer Care and Bank Operations
Dear Tom,
You sold my credit card account to Bank of America on August 26th, 2007. Shortly after I received an alert from you than my credit card score had dropped 70 points. I ran all three credit reports and found that both Barclays and B of A were reporting a $17,000 balance for the account you sold on only my TransUnion report. This of course severely impacted by debt-to-income and percent of available credit used. I was going to buy a new car but now I must wait until you correct my credit score to get a decent rate. I called your bank to report the error and one of your associates told me they were barred from even looking at the sold accounts. He said, That the best option was to dispute the entry through TransUnion and they would take care of it." I did that the same day ~ September 2. I received a response from TransUnion dated Sept. 12th that you had confirmed the debt and no changes would be made to my credit report. I called the bank again and I was assured the matter had been referred to and executive who could handle the matter. I waited 3 more weeks and called TransUnion to determine if the matter had been handled. It had not and they agreed to dispute the entry again. I called your bank and spoke to a Mr. Dan Wigger. He insisted the information had been reported correctly by Barclay and that =he problem was with TransUnion. I told him I was looking at the letter from TransUnion that stated you had had confirmed I still owed the $17,000 on Sept. 12th when the =ccount had been sold on August 26th. He still insisted and said it was just for that one cycle. I said that could not be true I had confirmed the entry 1 hour before I called him. I suggest he simply call TransUnion if he did not believe me and then he would have confirmed the facts and could proceed to a resolution. He responded, "I don't call TransUnion." I asked, "Is there someone there who can?" I also stated I could not possible be the only one this happened to and that a glitch in the system would very likely have affected all the sold accounts. Just a note, when I log onto my account at Juniper.com it still shows a current balance of $16,508.08.
I have also filed a complaint with the FTC. I hope this reaches a responsible person who can investigate the matter and resolve it for all the sold accounts. I will start a class action suit with the biggest shark of an attorney I can find if this balance is still on my credit report on September 30th.
Best regards,
Lon

Travelocity Mastercard
Lets see...
I went to Asia for 18 months and took only one credit card with me... TravelocityMastercard by Barclays. I figured what better card to take on a trip than a Travelocity card.
In June I had only $10.00 in available credit, and they applied finance charges, then an over limit fee.... all the while, I was in Asia.
I always have made my payments on time, and the above statement, was my only infraction in one year.
Well they just hiked my APR from 13.99 to 23.99, because of this. They refuse to lower it.
I haven't received a notice. To insult to injury they just hitt me with a $29.00 membership fee, like I want to a member of this club?

BEWARE: BARCLAYS LIES
In August 2006 I opened a Barclays credit card through US Airways at an airport. They never sent me an actual credit card, but DID send me notifications that I was delinquent on an amount charged for "Welcome Package". I called them and they immediately wiped the charges and late fees from my account and said they would close the account. Last month I reviewed my credit report and found that Barclays had not only NOT closed my account, but in October 2007 (yes 2007 not 2006)they reapplied the "Welcome Package" amount, let it stay a delinquent account until April 2008 and finally closed out the account as a Negative Account on my Credit Report. Now my credit is hosed and I'm taking painstaking measures to have Barclays remove the information. THEY LIE!! |

RE: Doulbe Entry on credit report doe account Barclays sold to B of A
Hi Lon,
I noticed the date of your problems with Barclay/Juniper. My problem started with a "technical error" by Barclays on October 8, 2008. I also spoke to the most rude and unhelpful Dan Wigger as well as 11 other unhelpful reps. I received an alert from my credit watch agency that Barclays had closed my account due to a Chapter 13/Bankruptcy. Since I never opened an account with them, I did a little digging in my records. I found that Chase sold my inactive BJ's card to Barclay's around Sept 07. I never activated the cards, never used the account and therefore never owed Barclays any money. And I have never been involved in a bankruptcy. I have been trying to get this resolved and of course disputed it with Trans Union and of course Trans Union wrote me back and said that they upheld the information as correct. This is unconscionable for Barclays to be able to do this. Otherwise, I have had no blemishes (correct or incorrect) on my credit bureau reports for the 40 years I've been using credit. I am still trying to get Barclays to correct their false report.

RE: Juniper Bank Holding Payments
Mary,
I am having a problem that started Oct 2008 with
Barclays on an account that I never opened, never used and never owed any money to Barclays. They closed my account and reported to credit bureaus that I was closed due to "chapter 13/bankruptcy" and I have never had a bankruptcy. Still fighting to get them to correct this false report. Little help from rude and incompetent CSR's. I will go to my congressman next. |

Juniper Bank
I have seen the many complaints about Juniper Bank, and to be honest, am mystified. I have had my card for several years. I use it for both personal and business use. When I travel with large groups and pay rather unusually large sums at restaurants and other places, I note that I get "locked" out of my account. I make a quick phone call to the number on my card, and they acknowledge the lock because of the activity that is "out of normal" for my account usage. WONDERFUL security measure. They immediately unlock my account, and I give them my schedule for charges for the next few days and have no further problems. I have begun calling them prior to my trips and let them know what I will be doing, and I don't get the locks any more. From time to time I still get the security lock for other reasons, such as using my card three times at one gas station in one day when I fill my three vehicles. ALL CONTACTS with customer service have been very pleasant, and I have never had any of the posting problems that I noted on the other complaints. So in conclusion . . . I find this to be a valuable card to me. I get frequent flyer miles with the card and I have gotten over 20 free flights to date. |

RE: Stay Away From Barclays Credit Cards
I have been seriously going through my credit cards to help save some money. I have a Seamiles Carnival and a Juniper card which are charging me outrageous interest rates. Do you know if I can close these accounts even though I have an outstanding balance? Or, do I need to pay them off first? I plan on still paying my monthly payment plus at least $100 over the minimum to reduce the balance but have no intention of ever using the cards again. Please let me know.
Thanks

Beware. Do not apply for Juniper card
I recently applied for a Juniper credit card online because they offered a decent rate and I wanted to transfer my balance from a higher rate card. My online application was declined. I thought this was the end of it.
A week later I received an email saying the card is approved. I then received an email saying my credit line was nearing it's limit. When I called asking about the balance they pointed me toward the "fine print" stating that if they do not approve the full amount they will transfer a partial amount...apparently even if you are declined.
They will get about $45 out of me for the balance transfer fee. But I will not give them anything more. I will pay off the transfer amount immediately. I've already cancelled the card. |

RE: It is OK if you read the agreements
I HAVE WORKED AT A FINANCIAL INSTUTION FOR OVER 5 YEARS. A MONEY ORDER IS NOT SAME AS CASH BECAUSE IT IS JUST AS EASY TO SEND A FORGED MONEY ORDER AS IT IS TO FORGE A CHECK. It is called 'guaranteed funds', yes, but in this new day of easy check fraud, it no longer is. I recommend ANY company that accepts money orders to put them on a long hold because my financial instution was hit for THOUSANDS on forged money orders- the only true, real way to ensure your payments is to send a check because a check offers a receipt when it is cashed - proof of receipt. Otherwise, paying online and having a copy of your statement showing the date of that payment on or before 5 days prior to the due date NOT INCLUDING WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS should suffice. I hope this helps! |

RE: Stay Away From Barclays Credit Cards
It depends on the company. some will let you close and then payoff the account, but that is rare. You will need to either transfer the moeny to another card or request a personal loan from your financial instution to pay off the card. the only other option is to continue paying the card until it is paid off. Dont forget that it NEVER hurts to call and ask if the company will reduce your interest rate. Do not expect it, but it works about 50% of the time. HOpe this helps ! :) |

RE: Juniper Bank Holding Payments
INCORRECT CREDIT REPORTING:
You dont need to fight a company if they reported incorrectly. the only thing you need to do with the company is call them and tell them that it is incorrect - there is not much they can do legally once they reported wrong (i know that sounds funny). what you need to do is go through the credit reporting agency and file your dispute there, that will get it cleared off. you may also go through your personal financial institution or even your insurance company if you have a good one, they usually will help with this kind of thing |

RE: Doulbe Entry on credit report doe account Barclays sold to B of A
CREDIT REPORTS: they aren't perfect! stay calm and take appropriate measures to fix your incorrect credit items. it is very easy, just contact the Credit Reporting Bureau first. Research how to do it properly and you will not have any problems!! DOnt think you're hosed or screwed, you all are getting way excited. i know it's personal and very important to keep your good name, but things happen jsut follow through with the correct steps to fix your issues - remember - THROUGH THE REPORTING AGENCY |

Worst credit card company ever!
I am so frustrated with juniper. I have TWICE made online payments that did not get credited properly. When I try to resolve it the customer service person has been very rude. As a result, my account just got a late adn over limit fee. I have 6 other cards that I pay online an dhave never had a problem. First of the year, I am cancelling this one and will never do business with them again. |

BEWARE of Frontier Mastercard Barclays Bank
I have had this card for years now and have never been a problem customer, in fact, I just paid my balance in full a few weeks ago.
I went to charge a Christmas gift on my card today and it was declined.
This is how I found out that Barclays had lowered my credit limit. 1 week before Christmas - no notice whatsoever.
I spoke with a colleague and she said her account is always paid in full (monthly) and she was declined at the grocery store yesterday using her Frontier Mastercard. She called Barclays and they said the put a hold on her card because they had charged a camera on it the day before (Christmas Gift). She said they have NEVER done that before.
A lot of us here in my office have a Frontier Mastercard and we are now worried that Barclays is not doing well - maybe going bankrupt, given the current economic situation. |

barclays bank-RUN DON'T WALK
BARCLAYS SUCKS,
I ORIGINALLY OPENED WITH A CREDIT LINE OF $2700. I PAY MUCH MORE THAN THE MONTHLY BALANCE. I PAID $1000 ONE MONTH , $600 ANOTHER MONTH, $700 ANOTHER MONTH, AND MUCH MORE MANY OTHER MONTHS. I then send in a Western Union certified money order for $1000 , and I don't see it clear for over 10 days !!!!!! They then were very nasty to me over the phone when I inquired. They hold the money because they make money on interest. I now look at my credit line, and without any explanation it gets reduced to $2200 !!!!!! Nothing, no explantion. I even made a $1400 payment just last week !!! I called the clerk and told them that I will pay off the small balance this week and that I will probably close the account. I told them to put this notation in the notes. Did she care ?? No . Still rude and did not give a damn. I will close this week.

RE: Travelocity Mastercard
I have a simular problem here. My wife and I opened an account about 4 years ago while on a cruise. Everything worked like clock until October of this year. Although the card had a very high balance, we never missed a payment in four years.
After an oversight by us, in October we made a purchase that took us over our limit, the percentage rate went from 3% to 29%. To turn the screws in even more, our new monthly minimum payment went up to $400.00.

juniper
i agree that this company is horrible. i have had my card for a few years with a $2500 credit limit. my minimum payment is about $30 and i pay $150 per month. i normally pay through electronic banking with my bank but today went on to the juniper website to pay as the holiday is this week and i wanted to make sure they received payment early. lo and behold my credit limit was cut in half with no notice whatsoever.
am now looking into transferring what i owe to another card and getting far far away from juniper - never ever been late with a payment and have always overpaid minimum due.
this has an effect on credit ratings also when they keep lowering peoples' limit for no good reason |
