U deserve better than Juniper
Luckily I looked at my Juniper(Barclay)credit card account today. I originally had a $2500 credit limit that was dropped to $650.00. I have never had a large balance on this card, making payments in a timely manner, many times twice a month. Now they have screwed my credit report by putting me at a balance of almost 90% of my credit limit. To do this to good customers means this company most likely is in trouble. If you have a card, watch it like a hawk and pay off the balance. Look at what is being posted online about Juniper(Barclay). It isn't good. If you don't have one don't get one. You deserve better than a Juniper(Barclay) credit card. |

Lowered Limit
We just had the same thing happen to us - we had a $3000 limit - we only had a few hundred dollars on the card (and were paying WELL over the "minimum payment"). In Nov, our balance was around $500. then in December we charged up to $2600 for Christmas; but paid it off before we even got the statement. (the statement we received today says our balance is $1.65) .
Here is the problem: my husband had logged on last week to make sure they got the payment and they LOWERED our limit from $3000 to $500. When my husband inquired he was told it was due to "our spending practices and payment habits". What? We pay 4 times the minimum payment (or pay off our balance completely) and our limit was lowered? Makes perfect sense. We will be cancelling this card after we pay our HUGE $1.65 and will be reporting this practice. |

Juniper credit decreased
I have had a Juniper account for 3 years and have never had a problem until this December 2008. I had a 3500 credit limit and have never exceeded the limit, nor have I ever paid late, infact, I always pay early and normally pay three times the minimum payment ... I have good credit and have a low interest rate. I received my December statement on the 12th and everything was fine. On December 27th I got an email telling me that I was approaching my credit limit ... which wasn't possible, because I knew I had over 1600 in credit still available based on my December statement and all of my credit card receipts. When I called to inquire I was told that my credit limit had been lowered because I didn't use the card very often. I "had" been using the card for Christmas shopping for month, so it just didn't make sense. If I had been out of town for the holidays and had not been checking my email, I would not have had any way of knowing that they had lowered my credit limit ... and could have possibly incurred "over the limit fees" if I had used my card. This unscrupulous practice could cost card holders a lot money and put a lot of "over the limit fees" in Juniper's pocket. I intend to report it to the office of the Attorney General of Delaware and anyone else who had had this done to them should report it as well.
Because their explanation didn't make sense and it appears to be happening to other card holders as well, I am suspicious that the Bank (Barclay Bank) that owns Juniper, is discriminating against American card holders due to our current financial crisis. Credit is becoming harder to obtain, and people are losing their jobs, so perhaps they consider us a greater risk. If this is the case, they need to handle things a little differently and more professionally. Just be honest, and give us a decent notice with our statements. |

REPORT JUNIPER
http://www.bcsalliance.com/x_creditcardtricks_a.html
File a Complaint Against Your Credit Card Company
Report the credit card issuer to the Comptroller of the Currency. Phone number is 202-874-4700.
Report the company to your state's attorney general's office. You can find links to your state's AG website at naag.org. Your state might allow you to file a complaint online. This is probably the most effective complaint to make as it is the attorney general's who have filed most of the lawsuits against credit card companies. For example, it was the California AG who sued Providian and forced them to pay the largest judgment against a credit card company ever.
Report the company to the Better Business Bureau. Submit your case for dispute resolution online at www.bbb.org.
Report the company to your elected representatives. You can find their email / mailing addresses at www.house.gov and www.senate.gov. Note that the banking industry (which is comprised mostly of credit card companies) has a lot of power in Washington, D.C. in the form of lobbyists and contributions to election campaigns. Despite this fact, your elected officials are more afraid of you because you can vote them out of office. If you think contacting them is a waste of time you're wrong. Someone will read your correspondence -- if enough complaints are received something will be done about it. Learn more.
Report the company to banking regulators. Their mailing address is Division of Credit Practices, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, D.C. 20580 or file a complaint online at www.ftc.gov.

They are horrible!
I opened an account with Barcalays/Juniper in 2006, everything was great! for about 2 months then I started noticing all these charges for no reason, I called and they basically said pay us, you owe us. You were late this day and then that made you go over blah blah/ None of this was true. So while I am fighting with them, and trying to reslove this, I wrack up 900 dollars in over the limit fees and late fees. I went into bk last yr when the housing market fell here, and they still wont take themselves off of my credit report and mark BK next to it! AWWW they are my nightmare! |

Juniper Retention Department Closed???
I just called my Juniper MasterCard account. I was told by 2 representatives and then a manager that the retention department was closed and had been closed for a few days now. I was told the employees in their retention department were answering customer service calls because they were so busy. So, there was no one I could talk to about getting my interest rate lowered. They said I could call back in 5 days. 5 DAYS? This is unbelievable and I have no idea who to contact because I can only find one 800 number to contact them. I have never heard of a credit card company closing their retention department so this just seems rather suspicious to me. I was told there were numerous reasons they were so busy, one reason being that more people were calling to see if they could get a lower rate on their card, and another reason being that since it is right after Christmas their call volume always goes up. Well if their call volume always goes up shouldn't they be prepared? And if one of the major reasons for the increased call volume is people are wanting lower interest rates I would think they would want to keep the department that can help them (the retention department) open. I think now that more people are calling to get their interest rates lowered the credit card companies are looking for new ways to make it harder to get some financial help.

stay away
I am another victim of their secret credit limit reduction. I just bought a house and was at the appliance store attempting to buy a washer and dryer. I had a 5000 limit with a 0 balance. Store ran the card and it came back declined. I called Barclays right there in the store and my limit was reduced to 250 "due to my spending habits". I told them to immediately cancel the account and their response was "it will ruin your credit". I then inquired if they received any federal bailout monies and was told "we can't disclose that information" and was disconnected. Sounds as though they are in trouble. I am telling everyone to stay way away from them. |

credit score down
Credit score is negatively affected by lowering of credit limit.
Juniper did it to me too, though I never went over limit and paid on time.
P.S. Have had a card with Wells Fargo for years and they never pulled anything of the sort. |

Barclays and Juniper Math; Zero doesn't mean Zero
I was told over and over again that balance transfers earn 0% interest for 6 months. I fell for their promotion and applied for an AirTran Visa Card through Barclays and I guess Juniper Bank. Little did I know that they would take my regular payments and use them as they chose. I was mislead tremendously. Despite paying off every charge in full and on time, interest accrued. Barclays / Juniper used my payments (that I specifically earmarked for regular purchases) for the 0% balance . This criminal policy was outlawed on Dec 18 by the Dept of the Treasury. What options do I have? The Barclays Bank and Juniper service and friendliness has been atrocious. Beware of their malicious intent. |

Usury Rate Increase by Barclays/Juniper
Sadly, I was referred to this finance company a reputable organization; thru my own fault I did no research and just accepted based on the good name of the referring organization. Little did I know what kind of scam Barclays was running. I feel like yet another victim in the Financial Collapse of America because of institutions such as Barclays Bank/Juniper.
I have made more than my min payment; I have made payments twice per month...never late.
However, because they have their scam set so that their "system" doesn't understand a payment made on the 20th of the prior month is for the payment due on the 6th of the next month they consider your payment late and charge not only exorbant late fees but increase interest rates to a Usury amount of 27.99%.
The only way they can be stopped is by no one applying and using their organization. PLEASE...be wary.

usairways mastercard
Beware.... I think they are in financial trouble. I have never been late with a payment; in fact I pay more than then minimum every month. They suddenly doubled the amount of my minimum payment for no reason. I tried to talk to them, but it was like talking to a wall. They said it was "their right to raise the payment or interest rate at any time without cause". I paid off this credit in full this month. I don't want to deal with them. I would suggest if you have money in their bank, that you move it another instutution. |

Juniper Sucks
This is the worst credit card company ever. They charge overlimit fees for .48. They lie about whether or not they can refund fees. I didn't realize I had been charged an overlimit fee of $39 due to being over $1.05 when I made the next payment I was over $3.40 and received another $39. Their policy is to never refund the fees, etc. I wrote, I talked, I emailed, I closed my account of $3500 limit. They would rather I do that than provide any kind of customer service. They don't respond properly to correspondence and have yet to state their policy on overlimit fees. So my husband's card went over $.39 (it is amazing how once their fees are added you are always just over) and the rep refunded half the fee. |

BEWARE! Juniper.Barclay
I was always a faithful customer, until recently. I changed banks and I pay online Juniper sent me emails saying that my payments were successful. Not true! I ended up with all of these late fees because their online system wasn't catching my newaccount number. glitch maybe? I wonder because no other C.C companies had problems. I spoke to several, extremely RUDE!!!! ppl who could barely understand me. They would not even let me speak to a supervisor. I asked their what their address was so that I could mail them a check,A.S.A.P and avoid late fees but of course they don't want thisto happe.
Please WARN EVERYONE!!!! about this fraudulent company!!! now my credit is messed up After years of working on it. I have closed the account but I truly! want to *warn* others of this very shady & dishonest company. Avoid them like the plague. |

Extreme scam of Juniper credit card
OH, have I had problems with Juniper since the 1st statement I received!
I open this account with their 0% interest for 12 mos. I used this acct to pay off a bill with the plans to make the monthly payments on Juniper and payoff the balance before the 12 month promo was over. I used the full avail credit on the card.
When I opened the acct the ctm svc rep keep trying to get me to sign up for this free 30 day trial protection plan, I usually never sign up for these things but as many times as I said no she kept going on and on about it and telling me its a free 30 day trial so I finally say yes to only shut her up! I get my 1st statement and there is a charge from the protection plan (BEFORE THE 30 DAYS) putting me over my limit and received a $39 OVERLIMIT fee. I call up to find out why the protection plan made the charge, they told me it is a separate company and to call them. I did and they told me that it was a promo of if you cancel the program within 30 days you get refunded the amt charged. I cancel the program and get refunded. So I called Juniper back and tell them how the ctm svc rep misrepresented the terms of this protection plan, therefore should receive a refund of the $39 OVERLIMIT fee. They agreed and told me they would refund it.
I make my 1st payment online on time but was charged a 2nd $39 OVERLIMIT fee on my 2nd statement and also see that they did not remove the 1st fee!
I once again call and was assured by a manager that both would be removed.
I got back online to set up my next payment but then decided to do the automatic repeat payment schedule on the due date. I cancelled the original one payment as I didn't want two payments made. Since I cancelled it I decided to check a couple days later to make sure that it was scheduled to happen with the repeat payment plan. It said it was scheduled. Well, guess what, it was not done, so I receive a $39 LATE and 3rd $39 OVERLIMIT fee AND find that the other 2 fees were still not refunded.
I called and told them the whole history and how I set up the payment schedule and how it said it was scheduled. They told me it takes 1-2 statements for the repeat payment plan to take effect. Nowhere on the confirmation I got for signing up did it say this. So he told me he would give me a one-time courtesy refund of the LATE fee. But I no longer trusted them, so I made an extra payment to put me well under the limit in case they don't remove the fees.
I get my next statement and amazingly I find that they refunded the LATE fee but only one OVERLIMIT and even worse find INTEREST charges!!!!
I call up and they tell me because of the late payment my 0% promo is no longer valid and they are charging 22.49% APR interest! Even though the manager on the last call agreed that because there was a misunderstanding of when the repeat payment plan starts he refunded me the LATE fee but they still considered it late and I no longer have the 0% promo. I asked for a manager and was told that all managers were in a meeting for the next 1-2 hrs and was assured one would call me back within 24 hrs. It has be 2 days and no call back from a mgr.
I have heard of WBZ Call for Action and how they talk a lot about these kind of situations and they help the consumer. Today is Sunday so I will be calling them tomorrow. 617-787-7070 between 11AM and 1:30PM, M-F. For those that do not live in New England, look for your local AM radio station as they may offer the same kind of service. |

Juniper/Barclay def unethical
I got this card as part of an Airtran Airways promotion. They have arbitrarily lowered my limit despite paying all my bills and other cards on time and well below their limits. They are sleazy, arrogant and really bad news.
I have even stopped flying Airtran until they select another provider. Airtran even allows this bank to solicit customers on their Atlanta concourse, knowing this bank is unethical, if not ouright dishonest.
I love my Capital One account. This one has been simply a waste. |

Juniper Bank Stinks
I have had nothing but trouble with my card from this company....the latest: I made an online payment of several hundred dollars so I could make an online purchase....They have put a hold on that payment and have not posted it to my account even though it has cleared my bank! They won't post it to my account for my use for 10 days! I never heard of such a thing! And I'm probably paying interest at their terrible rate while I wait for them to post it to my account.....How can they get away with this?!!! |

RE: STAY AWAY FROM JUNIPER
I am in the middle of a huge nightmare with this bank also! I got my card 2 years ago, when I in fact signed on with Juniper (AKA Barclay of England) I had a 1000 initial credit line, and after 1 year went to 2700 (which tells you I must be doing something right?) several months later I was planning to take a trip across the US and had a 2000 balance. Before leaving thought I would pay 1700 onto the card thinking it was safer to carry card than cash. I took my family out for dinner and paid with this card and it was declined (how embarrassing was that) thank god I had another card which I have no trouble with. Turns out they took money from my account the next business day, and did not apply to my account for exactly 10 days after. When I called and finally managed to get a hold of someone they told me like many others we are within our legal rights to hold it for that long. Can I charge them for being late applying MY PAYMENT? They have no problem charging you if you are 1 day late, which I found out after they did not send out my statement one month and then charged me 39.00 fee and upped my rate from 9% to 27.9%.I have been arguing this with them for many months to no avail. Now in an attempt to pay my full balance off I paid 1000 last month and they in turn lowered my available credit from 2700 to 2000. again? WTF! I do not recommend this group of uncouth banking jackals to anyone, and if you have a card? PAY IT OFF AND CUT IT UP!!! Eventually they will find a loophole to hang you with!!! |

RE: STAY AWAY FROM JUNIPER
Has anybody tried small claims court? It seems to me that in this financial climate and Juniper's predatory practices, it would be a slam dunk. |
