RE: Sigh...

If they are such a reputable company why did they, just this week, go into my bank account, without permission or authorization and steal $1337 from my bank account. One withdrawal was an illegal transfer of electronic funds, the other a duplicate JUNIPER check no. 9999. Each thievery event was for $668.50 which overdrew my bank account $1,400. Don't give me any of your hogwash. This company is fraudulent and needs to be shut down and the people who run it criminally charged. Or they could just commit suicide and we'd all sleep better at night.

Juniper | Barclays Bank: One in the same

It seems that all credit card grantors are tightning the reigns to cover their respective butts. I think the lesson here is---

Stop worring about your credit scores. Do the best you can to pay off your debt and follow the Dave Ramsey plan for living a life free of debt. If I can do it, you can do it. It just takes a little control. Stop giving over your financial wealth to the credit card companies (that would be the banks that we just bailed out).

Check out Dave Ramsey's plan...

They don't apply payments on time!

I always send my payment in early and usually always pay it through my bank account that I have set up on their website already, but on this occassion I decided to pay my full balance with another bank account and sent it in the day before it was due. My bank sent the payment but Juniper did not apply it untill the day after it was due and billed me a $39 late fee. So i called had to wait 7 minutes to speak to a rep, then I asked the rep to speak to a supervisor, which he was reluctant to pass me through, and after waiting on the phone for 17 minutes finally spoke to a supervisor which was only willing to credit half of the late fee, and after much talking finnally credited me the full amount of the late fee, but I am still left to fend for myself with the credit bureaus to get it taken off my credit file for their mistake, which is unfair! When I asked her if this would be taken off my credit report she just stated that she did not know since she was not a credit anylist!

BARCLAYS/JUNIPER CARD

I have read the numerious postings regarding the JUNIPER CREDIT CARD. Let me pass on my experience with the Juniper Card.
I started using my card about two years ago. I paid the balance in full every month and they increased my limit several times. At some point I became unable to pay the full balance avery month. I had a balance of $3700. on the card. Last November I paid it down $2000. I had never been late or over limit to this point. In January Juniper lowered my credit limit to the amount of my balance. I made payments as required. In May my due date fell on a Sunday. My payment was received by Juniper on Monday. They charged me a late fee of $39.00 and increased my interest rate to 29.99%. The customer service people were rude and unhelpfull. Had I paid early my payment would have been applied to the previous month. I am seriously considering defualting on this card. I am sooo angry.

Class Action Suit

I have recently had my credit line lowered not once, but twice by Juniper. They claim in their letters that 1. my balance to credit use is too high and 2. that my monthly payments are too low.

My balance is within the limits of the card. Secondly, my payments were without failure between 3,000% and 5,000%.

The result of such a lowering of my credit line decreases my credit score which then allows them to further decrease my credit. Thus my available credit to my balance never decreases and my score drops and the cycle continues.

If this is happening to you please contact me asap as I will be starting a class action suit.

Juniper...very bad bank indeed

I have also had the worst customer service experience with this bank. Absolutely no help and very rude. Other banks are courteous and helpful and always recognize errors and remove fees without question. I got the card through Apple's online store. Big mistake!

They hold online payments for 2 weeks for no reason and then charge late fees when the due date goes by. I checked the online statement and they received my online payment and credited it and it was deducted from the issuing bank according to its online statement, but the available credit doesn't reflect the payment due to "PYMTMONYHOLD" whatever that means. Now some other online purchases I made are getting declined. It's not worth using this card anymore and I've been very good about paying it off every month. I guess they don't want me as a customer since they're not making any interest off my $500. credit line.

I have one of their mileage card, did a balance transfer recently for 3.99% for lifetime of balance, now received a letter saying they are raising account balance to 29.99%

Most unethical company :(

Juniper crap

I have had many credit cards over the years, and this is THE WORST company that has ever been allowed to do business and call itself a bank! If I pay before the new statement comes out, it goes on the previous month, even if I have already paid the amount due. If I pay after the new statement, somehow it gets "late" and I get slapped with a $39 late fee and/or a over the limit fee. This is a vicious cycle that I can't seem to get out of, despite numerous calls and complaints. Their interest rate magically goes up, thus putting you over the limit even though you are paying every month at least two different payments. The only way out of this credit hell is for me to either default, which I don't care to do, or pay huge chunks so I can get rid of it fast and not have the danger of going over from all of their handy-dandy fees that make them rich and me poorer. I am a responsible person, but this company has me thrown for a loop - it's a "no-win" situation. I am sorry I ever got this card...pay attention to all the complaints..they are for real!! BIG SCAM!!! It will suck you dry :-(

My Juniper Story

My Juniper Story

After getting my op-out letter from Barclays Bank of Delaware, the bank which puts out the Juniper Credit Card, I did a little Google searching and see I’m not alone.
I’ve been a member for a few years with no issues till recently. I started with a limit of over $1500 and an APR of 7.74% which was great because I was able to close out an account with an APR that had a double digit APR. I was charge a small balance transfer fee which I was warned about in the fine print but it still made financial scents to go with the balance transfer.

So as time went by had no complaints or issues till the last few months ago, which is now more like almost a year ago.

Back in the end of ’08 I was going through the process of being medically separated from the army which took a great deal of my time away. So before things got too involved I set all my cards, to include Juniper, to automatically pay of the minimum each month.

The minimum payments for Juniper were much less, about $50 less, than the current interest and account protection that was being charged to my account each month. Soon those charges made my balance higher than my limit. It wasn’t well in to the 3rd month of being over the limit that I was able to see just what was going on. And what I saw that even with my account being over the limit by almost $70 Juniper minimum requirement was twenty something dollars. So after $117 later in over the limit fees I paid down the amount to within a hundred of my limit and paid $10 over what the last charges to my account was. And only after about two payments of paying what was needed, Juniper’s required minimum, finally was more than what was being charged each month in credit protection and interest.
And just like most, Juniper’s Customer Service department was no help in refunding any of those over the limit fees or changing my APR back to the 7.74% it was before these over the limit charges occurred. There was no changing anything. My APR went from 7.74% to 11.24%, 11.24% to 26.24%, and 26.24% to now 27.24% in the course of a few months with no written notices to inform me of the changes to my account.

Now in August my rate will be no less than 29.99% but I now, for the first time, have the option to reject these new terms which will terminate my account leaving me responsible for the outstanding balance.

So that’s my Juniper Story…

Any feedback or suggestion will be welcomed, mrmike.e.mack@gmail.com

$117 in fees for $2.02??

My Juniper Bank credit card account was assessed a finance charge that put me two cents over the limit. Juniper Bank charged me $39 for this two cents. I called to work with them, they refused and let me know they could charge me even if I went one cent over the limit. I closed my account, doubled my payment and attempted to get back on track. They raised my interest rate, assessed finance charges that put me two dollars over the limit and charged me another $39. I attempted to once again work with them, they refused. I doubled my payment and scheduled it online on 7/18/2009 for my due date of 7/31/2009. They started calling me on 7/27/2009 to remind me my payment was due on 7/31. This happened three days in a row, each time I pointed out the pending payment and they promised to remove me from their list to call. (My payment wasn't even due yet and they were starting collection attempts?) On 7/31/2009 my balance showed $1291.64. My payment was received by them on my due date in the amount of $80. This, with the finance charges of $22.77 would have brought me to a balance of $1233.41, which is under my limit of $1250. However, on 7/27, they assessed me another overlimit fee, which put me back over the limit before my bill was even due. They didn't post this charge until 8/4/2009 after my statement printed, so not only didn't they wait until after my payment was due to assess this new fee, they also made sure I wouldn't know about it until after the fact. They had promised me after the second over limit fee that I would not be assessed another overlimit fee as long as I brought my account back under the limit by 7/31, my due date, which I did. This third overlimit fee has put me back over my limit by $23. They are refusing to remove any of the fees. The fees now total $117 for $2.02.

Juniper Contact Information

After a ridiculous time fighting (and losing) a battle of a tripled interest rate causing my account balance to exceed the available credit and incurring not one, but two months worth of $39 overlimit fees, I can say I've been fed up with their service.

Customer service is horrible. After many attempts to contact their outsourced service by phone and email, they wouldn't even give me a physical address of their US location.

So, I took it upon myself to locate these folks. Here's the information for where us consumers can complain and get results:

Juniper (Barclay US) Bank
100 S. West St.
Wilmington, DE 19801
(302) 255-8000
(302) 888-0356 (fax)

and here are some names of interest:
Anthony Jenkins - Chairman
Joe Purzycki - COO
Kevin Murphy - Director of Customer Support
Tom Karinashak - Director of Customer Care
Joyce Walsh - Senior Director, Solutions Development

Stay away from Juniper

You will get better customer support from any other credit company.

I do all my banking on-line, monitor my balances carefully and no other company manages to charge as many fees.

I have cards from Chase, Citi, Amex, and BoA, all of which provide clear statments in regards to what fees are charged and more importantly, when fees are charged.

Barclay Bank is the WORST..by far! No Kidding

I signed up for the carnival mastercard while on a carnival cruise. I never received my first statement in the mail, and when I opened my credit card I found that I was 8 days late on my payment. I immediately made my payment online and called Barclays to advise them that I didn't recv my statement and asked them to reverse the $29 fee. They said there was nothing they could do because I knew my payment was due. No matter how many times I told them "I didn't recieve my statement. I had no idea that the carnival mastercard was through barclays bank because i signed up while on a ship and had no info." they still kept insisting that I could have signed up online and made a payment. Stupid people! I even talked to a manager and they said nothing i can do! I contacted the better business bureau and barclays reversed the fee.

So, due to the terrible customer service, I had my bank send a balance transfer to pay the carnival mastercard and close the account (this was on July 15th). at the same time, i also transferred another credit card as well. The other credit card posted the payment on July 19th - but of course as of today the carnival mastercard payment has not been paid off and they are giving me collection calls! Oh, and yes, they posted another late fee.

I've called them at least 10 times to dispute the payment, confirmed with them that the card number AND payment address that my bank sent the check to were ok. So, the incompetent people that work there told me to fax the proof over to them and they gave me a fax number THAT DOESNT WORK AT ALL! Called them again, they confirmed the number and told me i had to wait till they were in the office - i have to fax it during business hours. OK, so I do and the freakin number still doesn't work. NO KIDDING>>this is a true story! I could go on but I won't.... they are THE WORST BANK I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH....LITTERALLY!

Predatory lending

Today I got a notice from Barclays bank that my 7.9% fixed interest rate was being raised to 12.99% variable. I have never been late, have never missed a payment, and keep the balance below 20% of my available credit at all times. My FICO credit score is 790 and has increased almost 40 points since it first got the card..

I could not understand why they were raising my rate after just increasing my credit limit(without me asking them to) last week..

I call customer service and was informed that they are raising all rates across the board because of the H.R. 627: Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009.

This act specifically prohibits them from from raising rates without cause. So they decide to raise all the rates for no reason, before H.R. 627 goes into effect..

Stay away from this company...

MOST UNPROFESSIONAL

We closed this card TWICE. Regardless, they charged their annual fee ($79.00)on a CLOSED card TWICE. Twice, we called them; twice we were on hold for indefinite time, twice we endured highly rude and unpleasant "relationship managers": in fact, both times we had to call back a few times and both times we had representative going to find a supervisor and "dropping" the call.

After twice apologizing to us for their ERRORS, they managed to send a report to Equifax stating that there was a late payment on a closed account with NO activity and no payments due.

DO NOT FALL A VICTIM TO THEIR PROMISES OF "FREE" MILES--THIS MAY COST YOU YOUR CREDIT SCORE.
