Waiting for the day Chase Bank goes down!

I have also had my APR raised to 29.99%. I am a part-time student and opened this account in August 2005. It seemed like a great opportunity for me to establish credit, and the APR for purchases was 0.00% for an extended period of time. In October 2006, the APR was set at 7.99% which I felt was reasonable. However, shortly thereafter I was late with a payment (truly did not receive a statement this month and got screwed up). Anyway, my APR got raised immediately to 29.99% and all the calling did nothing. I was actually told by one moron that this 29.99% would remain until the balance is paid in full! I owe $2,000.

Everyone needs to file a formal complaint. I did recently and received a letter back within a week or so. Go online to Google or whatever and search Comptroller of the Currency Administrator of Nation Banks. Follow the instructions regarding formal complaints, download the form, fill it out and mail with attached documents, etc. They will open a case, send you a case # and they say they will review the information and inform you of their decision. We'll see. It's worth a shot.

I have done this for both my Chase accounts (2nd one is Disney account) because that one also was raised to 27.99% for no reason at all. I have not received an acknowledgement letter yet, but it's only about a week.

File the complaints, there's nothing to lose.

RE: CHASE is a TOTAL RIPP OFF

The exact same thing happened to me. I made an electronic payment to Chase from my Wells Fargo Checking account. Wells Fargo assures me that the payment arrived on the due date of Saturday May 12th. Chase claims they did not receive it until Monday the 14th. After 3 calls to their customer service and speaking to so-called managers they refuse to remove the $39 late fee and return my 0.0% rate. I then closed all 3 of my Chase credit cards and they didn't even bat an eye. I will also be closing my Chase Equity Loan. This bank is despicible. How do these customer service reps at Chase even sleep at night?

CHASE

Want to get back at Chase? I am going through the same thing. My interest rate just went up to 29% and I did everything by the book! One way I plan to get some satisfaction, after I pay off the account tomorrow, is to take a gym membership fee I currently pay for $15.oo a month and switch it to this card. Set up an automatic payment to go out to them for $15.00 a month. What this will cost them in processing fees will far outway any profit they could make. They can send me paper statements and pay postage and processing forever!

What goes around comes around!

RE: Chase Bank experience

I hate chase bank I have been with them for over a year now and more than once have they overcharged me for overdrafting but they offer absoulty no overdraft protection. It happens every once in a while. Well i'm so use to using my debit card, about a week ago I went to the store and I only had like 5$ in my bank account but out of insinct I used my card and overdrafted. Well I was mad at myself b/c I thought it was gonna be like a 35$ charge. Well I got over it and when i got paid they took out 50$ then 3 days later took out another 70$ what the ufkc. I don't have much money and they are just stealing it all. Of course it's Sunday so I can't call them. Does anyone know of a good bank that is honest b/c I know that tomorrow when I call them they are gonna come up with so stupid reason why they stole my money I done with them.

Being robbed by Chase Bank!

I too have had a more than sour experience with Chase Bank. I am a victim of ID theft and whoever has my ID has gotten a Chase credit card. When I reported this action as fraudulent, I was told it would be taken care of. I reported the incident to the police and did all the necessary hoop jumping to clear it up. When I checked my report recently the account is still there and now has a 4300.00 debt from these people. I called Chase’s fraud dept. back and they told me I faxed a form stating I am responsible for the account. I did no such thing. I was then basically told to either get a lawyer and fight it, or pay up. This company is nothing short of mobsters. I am waiting for the day that someone takes them to court for extortion and racketeering. This issue is still not resolved and now I have to go through the same procedure to clear up this issue on my credit report. I really hope there is some sort of class action suit against these people, because there business practices are simply criminal.

Chase Bank

I have a mortgage through Chase Bank and when my husband and I separated he had not paid the mortgage for 3 months. I tried to work with Chase, once I received power of attorney over the property, to get the loan caught up. They have repeatedly called me and told me they want payment and a half or payment and a third which I don't have being a single mother of two with a husband who is incarcerated. I made payments to them beginning January 2007 in the amount of $550 (my mortgage is $450). They recently called me and told me if I didn't make a second payment in July 2007 they will foreclose and any payments made after July 31 would not be accepted it would be returned.

I have tried every good faith effort to work with Chase on this issue and was told they did not care if they lost my business there are millions of others who will do business with their company. I even asked for their corporate office number when I was told they would rather foreclose on my house and sell it for $10,000 than add the payments to the end of my loan and get the full amount they are owed and was told Chase does not have a corporate office.

I am currently looking to have my accounts closed through chase and have my loan taken over by Century Bank who is more than willing to work with me.

Chase is the worst bank I have ever dealt with and I would not recommend doing business with them in any way.

Chase Executive office

For those who want it here is the number to Chase Executive Office: 1-800-242-7399 I have called and made a formal complaint about the collections department and about how much I despise their company and they way they do business.

I also expressed my dissatisfaction with their customer service. So here it is guys if enough of us voice our complaints Chase might just change the way they do business.

RE: Waiting for the day Chase Bank goes down!

My first name is David and Chase is Golith. You cannot beat golith if you agree to fight by their terms.

TAKE THEM TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT IT WILL COST YOU LITTLE TIME AND ABOUT $20.00. Where I live, small claims is held evenings (hopefully more convenient for you than for Chase). It is very people friendly you will find that the judge will give you every break and the attorney will be treated as a lower form or life.

Now it is a fight that Chase cannot win. They are local to you so you take them to a local small claims. If, they don't simply give you what you want they need to send an attorney probably from the Texas office.

My loss is above the 2,000 cap in small claims. Yesterday I sent a file to Office of the Comptroller of the Currencies I HOPE THYE WILL HANDLE IT SAVING ME ATTORNEY EXPENSE.

I too have been used by Chase

Everyone's words resonate with me - I too have been a victim of the terrible and probably illegal business practices of Chase.

Unknowingly, I signed up for a credit card with them while I was a freshman in college. They had a table of free items and I figured, why not - I make $4 an hour part time at a university job, no moron would give me a card. Well, banking on my parent's money and my financial immaturity, they sent me a card.

Everything went fine for years, I paid my balance off each month. They kept raising my credit. Finally - and I'll admit this is my fault - an evil ex-boyfriend of mine took my card behind my back and made charges on it, and used it to start a business. I still managed the minimum payments.

Then I made the mistake of trying to pay it off. I sent a check for a large amount, and the next month got an over balance fee, a late fee, and my interest rate jacked up to 29.99%. I called and spent a long time on the phone with the rudest and most unhelpful "customer service" rep ("customer service", ha!) who told me that they weren't responsible for the US Mail - so I guess I am, because she wouldn't lift the fees. And by the way, two days after I talked to the representative, the check cleared. I hadn't had a chance to stop it yet. The fees all remained. I guess they wanted more money from me and were determined to get it.

Then I missed a payment since the evil ex was supposed to send it in, which he did not. Thankfully I broke up with him, but the charges remained. They called me every day at work. I sent what I had, but the fees and the interest rate went out of control. After probably thousands of dollars and a new job, I managed to get the overage taken care of, but still had the remaining balance to take care of at t he 29.99% interest rate.

I paid over the minimum for a year, before they canceled being able to pay over the minimum automatically, I guess too many people were getting ahead on their balances. They also made my minimum payment for LESS then the finance charges every month, so even though the account was well closed, I was still putting charges on the card if I just paid automatically - which I felt like I HAD to do because mailing a payment seemed like it failed each time.

I finally, even with the 29.99% interest got it paid off just recently. I am well into my thirties now by the way. Sure enough, even though the balance was 0.00, they charged me $28. I called to see if paying it would really close my account, or if I'm just going to have to pay Chase each month for the rest of my life because I made a bad decision when I was eighteen.

My story isn't the worst that's out there, and there were years of rude customer service calls, and probably well over $2000 of my money they practically stole, I nearly wasn't able to get my house, my credit was ruined, and back when I was trying to bail myself out from all of the fees, there were days I didn't eat, literally. If I had to choose over death and being a Chase customer again, I'd really have to think it over.

Thank God I'm Finally Free of Chase

Pros: Will make you reconsider in a positive way the customer service of Lefty the Loan Shark.

Cons: All of them, including the kitchen sink.

Actually, compared to many people posting here, Chase was an absolute sweetheart to me. They only lured me in with a nice, low interest rate and then progressively raised it from 4.9% to 14.9% over the span of six months. When I cancelled the account (I was young and foolish), they hiked it to a mere 24.99% as opposed to the 29.99% some people suffer.

If you're a masochist, save yourself the time of calling their Customer Service line and visit Helga's House of Pain instead -- at least you'll deal with professionals plus it will actually cost less in the long run.

Finally, after hundreds if not thousands of dollars, I'm free of them and think that if Congress really wanted to serve the people, they'd stop worrying about warning labels on cigarettes and place a skull-and-cross-bones on Chase credit card offers.

spread the news!

Hi all,
I think we should spread the news of Chase's bad business. I think each of us should print at least 100 of these posts and hand them out to anyone (if you are college students, It would be even better.) If 100 of us to do so, there will be 100,000 people know about the way Chase is doing business. That is the most practical way to get even at them, and help other people too! Please reply if you agree. All we need is to print out 4-5 pages of the opinion in this thread.

Tomorrow, I will print all the posts of this thread on the bulletin board at every major shopping center, supermarkets for all to see. I am mad as hell! Please join me to bring this corporate monster down to its knee!

CHASE rip off

I am a physician with a good income, and i have many accounts with chase. and different trust accounts. i opened a 0% credit line with them and was paying 4x my minimum every month and one month before the expiration of my promo i mailed the remaining balance, it didn't clear, so i called chase who assured me the check is FLOATING in the system, when my due date arrived and the check still didn't clear i called again and as told to make a phone payment, which i did, i was also ASSURED that no late payment would be posted to my account and if it did all i had to do is call and they would waive it.

well i did get charged and i did call many rude unprofessional customer basher who would not waive the fee, would not check my confirmation number, would not provied me with corporate number and after being on the phone for 50 minutes told me they cant keep the line open and have to end the conversation.

there must be a law against fraud and unethical banking practices like this.

ANYONE ELSE BEING RIPPED OFF BY CHASE BANK?

I have my payroll check directly deposited with Chase bank. I check my balance, my direct deposit is $1400.00 I have a balance of $1180.00. Why? The previous month, I had an authorized withdrawal of $60 that I forgot about. That resulted in a NSF fee of $30. However, transactions that I made before the sixty dollars were debited from my account AFTER the $60 dollar transaction even though I performed them before the $60 transaction was presented. This resulted in four transactions with four NSF fees. So instead of my account being overdrawn $30 (NSF fee on the $60) it was overdrawn $220 (6.60 + 8.40 + 25.00 x NSF fee@ $30 each + NSF fee on the $60. Chase made $190 on a $60 error. Their explanation, we debit the largest amounts first instead of what is presented first. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS SITUATION I AM SUING WILL YOU JOIN ME?

Class suit against Chase

I would join you and anyone interested in pursuing a class action law suit against Chase Bank. I have been fighting them for years over the interest rate they charged my credit card. I appealed to the Atty. Gen. in my state (NY) with little result because of the fine print on the contract with Chase. Ultimately, my $150.00 worth of fees tacked on to every payment bill could not be met, my acct. was "sold" to one loan shark after another & now my credit is destroyed -- I am, after 6 years, still getting calls from law firms who buy these defaults & begin tacking their own rates onto them... and the consumer has absolutly no legal rights at all. The truth is that I have the money & can pay it, but I will be damned if I let these theives get away with it. I want to bring them all down publicly & will join anyone who will work with me to do so.

Chase Bank should lose Southwest Airlines flight miles business

Chase Bank has predatory practices and HORRIBLE Customer Service!! I am in complete shock at the way I was treated with Chase Bank Customer Service Reps-even a "supervisor" who had complete authority to handle my modest request and continue my 5 years of loyal business. I make over $100,000 per year in purchases on their card, generating thousands in merchant fees for them. I always make payments on time and 100% in full, but apparently this makes me an undesirable customer because they can't charge me interest. They randomly changed my billing cycle and due date with no notice and I missed the electronic payment by 1 day. This then justified their unethical policy of charging finance charges for 3 billing cycles between May 31 and September 1 even though the remaining 2 billing cycles were paid in full and on time. When I asked for a measly $76 of PARTIAL finance charges to be waived, the rudeness behind the fake sugary-toned scripted reply was disgusting. When I asked if they were willing to lose my years of business over $76, the supervisor JENNIFER WALLACE in the Oaklahoma office didn't even pause a breath to offer to close my account. I love Southwest Airlines and their flight awards they give for credit card purchases. Chase Bank has a monopoly on being the provider for Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards customers and other partner companies. Southwest made an excellent name for themselves for premium customer service when the airline industry forgot who their real customers were. It's time we all complain to the partner companies who send their point/rewards programs through this dishonest bank and hurt Chase where it counts.

Chase

I used to have 3 Chase credit card, one with United, one that was opened 12 years and another one for 5 years (used to be another credit card provider that Chase bought.) When I had problem with the United/Chase card, I closed down the other two Chase. One of the custom asked why I would close down the card after 12 years, I told her not only my problems, but the problems that many others have encountered and posted in this blog and many others. I have already print out many copies of all the Chase-related blogs
but not have a chance to put them into some bulletin boards in colleges, etc., where Chase preys their new victims.

class action against chase

So, how do we begin a class action law suit? I have all the documentation I need to go after them but want to make this embarrasing for them & hopefully make it a national issue. What Chase bank is doing & getting away with is beyond evil & needs to be stopped. Who knows how to go about this?
