In regards to Chase charging late fees
Hello Everyone
So i've been sitting for the last hour reading post after post about how chase has "screwed" people over. Now before I start my rant I want to simple state that this is my own personal opinions. I am sorry in advance if I offend anyone.
Ok first let me state that I am a chase employee in a call center. So I know first hand a few things. But I want to clarify a few things first.
As a consumer myself I have rent, bills, and a child that I am responsible for. I like everyone work hard to afford to pay bills. One of the things that blow me away is chase offer 9 different options to make payemtns if you choose to send in your payment and it isn't posted on the due date that is NOT chase's fault. Just because you don't want to make a payment online for whatever reason you don't trust the internet bla bla It's not the banks fault your payment was late. Ok next thing
The guy who had unforseen cercumstances come up where he lost his job and was trying to make payments and chase was calling him wanting large payments this is great example of why customers that call into Chase and when they are offered the optional service chase payment protector to TAKE IT. Do not sit there reading this going oh it'll never happen to me I'm above crap like that happening to me. That is CRAP. LIFE HAPPENS you never know when something is going to happen. You can take a payment holiday and NOT have to make a payment you end up out of work you have two years off but no first thing that someone thinks of crap is being told to them is no this is going to cost me too much money. Look our world is full of crap that we never see coming. Job loss, ending up in a hospital whatever the case is. My theory on it is that people NEVER EVER look at the big picture. They just hear someone trying to sell them something.
LOOK AT the BIG picture of life and not the week ahead. Crap the amount of calls I get from people whoes just lost their job or whatever their situations is my point is LIFE HAPPENS.
Ok lets talk ID theft. This is a big issue out there in the world again read what I said above. Every single person I offer this product too sits there oh no I don't need it cuz it'll never happen to me. That is such CRAP I don't know how you can sit in that chair and not wrinkle your nose that the stench. Look the fact is every 4.5 seconds someone becomes a victom to be blind and stupid about it doesn't help either. Oh I'm on a fixed income Well hello you're going to be royally screwed if your id gets stolen then aren't you. If you can have all your credit cards, bank accounts, etc protected for a small fee a month and you can cancel whenever you want and still get a refund hello let me slap you across the head and wake you up to reality .
Next topic. Credit reports. Yes yes I know we all get our "free one" each year. I as a Canadian get them as well. Now Chase offers a service that allows you to have access to your credit reports at all three CB's. The amount of people that tell me oh no I don't want that makes me want to slam my head against my cubicle wall and turn back to them and be like WTF is your problem? And these are the same people that probably call back a month later OMG my iD has been stolen. Finally to everybody out there with a credit card. Do me a favour the cardmember agreement isn't that hard to understand read it and then you'll know that the bank can charge you the fees you see. READ IT Thank you for reading. |

Chase Credit Card Are Bullies!
Unfortunately, I have some accounts with Chase as well and have always paid on time. Due to unforeseen of events, I got laid-off and could not make the minimum payment due.I still made the attempt to pay whatever I could afford. Naturally, the calls began and would never leave a message and started receiving correspondence through the mail. It has gotten to the point that if I don't pay the outstanding balance of $34,000 Chase would start legal proceedings.
First off I am a representative in one of their call centers. You stated you had and I quote "unforseen event" that made you loose your job. First off if you had,had the chase payment protector you wouldn't have had to make payments or have FC occur or LF's on the account. People don't see the CPP as a money saver they just look at the oh man this is too much money LIFE Happens People stop pretending nothing can happen to you. The program saves money. Secondly as it pertains to the APR going up on an account first READ THE FINE print of the agreement and no it doesn't take a lawyer to decipher it. If you are late you probably will be charged a LF and the APR may go up. But let us remember that we have a DUE date. Again LIFE happens if you know you have a bill payment pay it. I have bills too that need to be paid but I don't cal up my CC company and whine oh I was out of the country waive my lF or I don't want to pay a fee on the phone or I don't want to go online because I'm scared someone will steal my information. Mail in on time then. Oh on the topic of identity theft. Chase fraud detector works and covers all your cards and the chase Id protection lets you look at all THREE credit reports and scores. Against people just look at it as an expense you can CANCEL at anytime. and get a FULL refund of your last bill fee. Geeze people and before anyone comments on me just ranting because I work for them I'm not. My point is to show people that chase does care and its not the banks fault that people don't read fine print and or don't take advantage or optional services that SAVE money and TIME for them. WAKE UP people and read the fine print and quit complaining and grow up. Oh and one more thing I have a kid and a wife and bills just like everyone else on this website. |

RE: In regards to Chase charging late fees
To the Chase call center employee:
You are advising people to buy the payment protection, yet you did not address the person who had it and were not compensated when they did lose their job. The single best thing for them to do is to have their 6 months salary put away in case of emergency, I suggest to everyone here to live, learn and love Dave Ramsey and look up his plan at any local church for a nominal fee that can be paid over time or waived in some cases. That being said I carry payment protection on most of my cards anyway, it is only like $3 a month but I have very nominal balances all of which are very low interest and almost paid off now.
You also suggest we pay the $30 a month or whatever stupid fee it is to sign up for the ID watch that Chase offers. You can get this service from a lot of place, and moreover you can check all your credit every time you not only apply for credit, a car loan, a mortgage, car insurance, but every time your rates change on anything including credit cards. I get at least 4 or 5 free reports a year because of this. Mind you it has to be negatively affected in some way for example a really high rate, a raise in your interest rate, a notification of collection, etc.
Finally, you also did not address the fact that Chase neglected to send them any statements. Mind you, I too was neglected a statement or two, and I am not mailed statements half the time myself, the difference in me is I take care of my accounts and know who I owe as they should as well, and if they had called Chase right away I am sure their fees would have been waived as well.
Don't come here and try and sell them services that they should not need to pay for if they just had basic knowledge of their financial situation. |

Chase sucks
Every month I pay off the amount Chase says is due THEN a week or so later they produce a previous balance that was not paid. They're always happy to explain that I must be confused even though the charges shown as unpaid posted several days previous to my payment |

Chase Credit Card - Don't Do It!
While traveling in Central America for six weeks, my boyfriend and I were robbed during our trip and had to rely on my Chase credit card for the final 3 weeks of travel. Long story short - even though we had set up cash advance privileges in advance, we were having a terrible time getting cash out of machines. It wasn't the machines fault. We saw others walk away with plenty of dough. Our cash advance limit was way beyond what we needed, so available funds were not the issue either. When we called Chase on MANY different occasions, the customer service was TERRIBLE! Even when we were in remote regions and explained our situations to reps, no one could/would help us. They just passed us on to another unhelpful operator. And they were totally unapologetic about it. It was like being stuck in a Kafka story that we could not escape. My advice, do not rely on good customer service with this card. Leave this card at home when you travel. They will not help you if you are caught in an emergency situation. |

RE: late statement
You said you were with MBNA and Chase bought them out. I was with MBNA and very happy until they were bought out, but it wasn't by Chase, it was by Bank of America. I had the problem of not being able to access my account and pay online like I have done with MBNA and there fore incurred 2 late charges. Not only could I not access the site and pay the bills online, but I spent several hours on the phone on several different occasions without ever being able to talk to a person. I find it strange that all the complaints I read here are about Chase, when I had the same experience. I have had Chase cards for years. I forget who the bank was originally, but I have two BP visa cards that were with another bank before Chase. Had no problems when they were bought out, so I replaced the Bandk Of America card with a Chase Freedom because of the points. Was really happy with MBNA, though. |

Chase Credit Card
Chase is the worst!! I have great credit but my husband was out of work all winter and got behind in his payments. He had a payment of $350 and sent $340 by mistake. He sent a $10 payment by phone so as not to miss the due date and they charged him $9.95 for making the payment by phone so he was credited $0.05 to his bill.
I have had all kinds of credit cards and have never heard of anything like this. I would guess that most people who pay by phone are young, intimidated by banking because of language, culture, etc. or are living paycheck to paycheck and don't have the money to send by mail in time to make the due date. I think they know it and abuse the cardholders because they can get away with it.
I urge anyone I know to never open a Chase account and I will never every have any kind of account (bank, credit card, equity line) with them. They are crooks. |

Cosumer Credit
Not everyone uses credit for "stuff". With people making $7-$10 per hour, it's hard to save a 6 month reserve when you have to pay rent; buy gas, insurance, etc. or pay for public transportation if that is even an option; buy food, and God forbid, get sick and have to pay a doctor's bill. And I haven't even gotten to things like preventative health care like a mammogram or colonoscopy.
The cost of "things" in this country far outweighs the income that a lot of people earn. I am fortunate and have an income that affords me the luxury of paying a mortgage and buying food, and paying for transportation without having to use credit.
But when you have a 5% unemployment rate, gas at $3.50/gal, skyrocketing insurance rates, electricity at whatever rate they're charging and many people making minimum wage (which is not the same as a livable wage), a credit card sometimes is the only thing you have to put food on the table.
Yes, there are some people who can't afford those $300 jeans but there are a lot more who are just barely getting by. Judge not least you should be judged. |

RE: chase credit card
I am dealing with thieves and crooks. For five months now they owe me a credit of $1384.20. They claimed they send a check at the end of the year for $1743.36. I never received that check. They started to charge me penalty and interest for the charges I made that amounted to $424. They also reported me as late for paying the balance for more than 30 days, to one of the credit report company. Over a month ago I was promised that they fixed my account and that the check was returned to them. Till now my account does not show that I asked them to keep the credit and not to send a check. When I saw strange things on my account I called and they told me they send another check to an address in a foreign country and I have to wait again another three month until they can issue me another check. I am dealing with thieves, con artists, scums and crooks, and I am so angry. I called the FTC and they said they do not investigate complaints. Could you help? I live now in Colorado.

Office of the Comptroller of the Customer Assistance Group
I recently resolved an issue I had with my Chase Cardmember Services account. Through the help of the Office of the Comptroller of the Customer Assistance Group http://helpwithmybank.gov/complaints/index.html
I got the correct address for Chase Card Services Executive Offices 2500 Westfield Drive, Suite IL1-6215, Elgin, IL 60123 Fax#: 800-603-5338. I faxed over all documentation about how Chase cut my due date by 5 days making my electronically scheduled payments late then charging me a $39 late fee for a payment that was 1 day late. Since I had my payments prescheduled I didn't catch on that I was charged a late fee. The following month my payment was paid on the date due, however the minimum was increased to include last month's late fee. Since my payment was pre-scheduled for a fixed amount Chase considered that payment late as well since it didn't include the full amount and charged me another $39 late fee AND raised my promotional interest rate. I was able to pay the account in full and close it. The Chase customer service reps weren't sympathetic to my case but the agent at the Executive Offices was and the issue is resolved. |

Ups,,,Chase did it again.
Here I am - another victim of Chase Credit Card's dirty tricks. After many years of paying the bill on time, they changed my billing date, "forgot" to send me a statement and now I am stuck with compounded fees and a 29% rate. I am transferring my balance ASAP.
All of you Chase employees should start looking for a different job. Every customer Chase burn tells his or her story to everyone they know, so eventually the word will spread and Chase will be no more. In the mean time lawsuits are welcomed and encouraged.

Chase Card Fraud
Chase card ran the same fraud on me. I closed my account because they were making up excuses just to charge me late fees and penalties. When I closed the account, I asked them for a final bill which they never sent me. A few days later, I went on to their web sites and paid off the balance. I thought this was the end of it. Five months later I get a bill for 430.00 unpaid balance plus all the late charges and every other penalty they could think of. When I called their customer dis-service, they did not have any answer as to why they failed to notify me that there were an outstanding balance on my closed account and they all sounded like a broken record player and kept repeating the same sad story that they could not do anything to help me. I like to get on a class action lawsuit and teach these crooks a lesson.
Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Chase. They are nothing more than a group of scam artists.

Chase Credit Card the ROBOT
If you have an issue with Chase and write you a letter you will get a robotic form letter in return not addressing your issue. It is like a robot with no feelings or emotions is running the company. I had my identity stolen, all of my money in my bank was gone. Some bills were late, not only were late fees charges, but the interest rate went to outrageous rates! Even though I sent a letter to Chase explaining this, then Chase requested the police report, which I provided and got not response from them after that.
They did not care, basically a rule is a rule. I had no choice but to get a home eq loan to pay off some of the cards that wanted of 30% interest they were closed out, but a couple assessed late fees. When explaining to CHASE that I was aware it was late, but the entire balance is paid off could they please forgive the charges. I got the form letter telling me how much they :value my business" and Important information regarding your late fee inquiry is provided below. that "Important info" was telline me how to avoid future late payments by....
My issue was never addressed.
My only goal now is to encourage everyone I can to be free from the monster named CHASE. |

chase and any type of bank
all of you are right chase is terrible and robbing everyone. ive learned banks are straight crazy. credit unions are there for you. chase has got away with almost hundreds of dollars from me with lame charges. they even train their employees to be very rude as well. i wish i read this along time ago cause ive only had chase for a lil over a yr and to be honest when i opened the account i seen a few people there complaining about charges and i thought maybe they needed to handle their finances better, ya right whats my excuse then. ive told plenty of workers they need to find a job they know how to do cause none of them were able to explain my charges or be of any help.they only do their job when they tell you there is nothing they can do but suggest you pay all charges due. who ever has the time and money please go after them legally and also i believe if word does really get out then yes they will loose lots of customers before they get the chance to do it to them too...... |

Don't count on Chase
I have had my United Airlines Chase card for several years. I have paid the full balance every month on time and in the last year, did this through autopay.
I had a payment set up last month, but there wasn't enough in my checking account. My account is set up to automatically transfer money from my savings account if there isn't enough in the checking account. It did not do that and my Chase card got charged $39 return payment fee, $35 late fee, and $1.99 fee. I saw this a few days later and paid the full payment immediately. I called Chase and spoke to a supervisor and she said that there was nothing she could do because it is in my credit card agreement. I recognize that is my responsibility to pay my bills on time. But I have also been a loyal customer and made a mistake ONCE on my payment. They are TOTALLY UNWILLING to cut you any slack. It's called customer service and giving a loyal customer a break.
I may have paid almost $80 in fees, but that was the cost of me NEVER doing business with Chase again. American Express (and perhaps other companies) will cut you slack once in a while. They also don't charge $35 in late fees.
Never again Chase credit cards, never again. |

Stop Chase
Like so many others, I got taken to the cleaners by Chase. There are so many of us. We should demand that the Govt. step in and stop the abuse. Or boycott, petition, whatever |
