RE: Chase Fraud
Yes, I agree Chase did the same thing to me I paid my bill in full a month ahead of time and they send me a bill for finances charges and Sylvanus Boulware supposed to be a customer service supervisor was rude, did not care if I was a good Chase customer this was the worst customer service that I have ever received. Wish I had read these posting before I signed up with Chase credit card services.
I think higher up management needs to teach there customer service managers about rule number one is business customer's are always right and always provide outstanding customer service every time customers. I don't think Sylvanus realize that without customers they would not have job. |

Chase and Ciruit City
I'm going through the same thing with Chase bank.My father got an account with Circuit City back in 1998. My father was given a payoff settlement option because he owed on a Compaq computer. Which was to be paid over 3 months. The last payment my father couldn't make on time because he gets paid at the end of the month so he called and had the payment date moved to the end of the month. The rep and her supervisor both approved. They even sent a letter saying that it was paid in full. That was in January. Now within the past week they've called 10 times saying that we still owe them money due to late payments and that we owe them all together $570. They said that because the last payment that was made was done after the cycle date that that payment was voided and that he had to pay the remaining balance of $570. I was like I'm not paying this because ya'll messed up and what makes it even worst is that ya'll sent us a paid in full letter. If it was voided then the day that my father called to see if he could get it moved the rep should have notified him that the money would not go towards the settlemnt but she didn't. Nor did the supervisor who approved of the settlement. Now 2 months later u want another $570 because your rep and her supervisor messed up. I proceeded to tell them they wasn't getting another dime unless a judge said so and that the money that was paid to them needs to be put towards training the reps and supervisors the right way. |

Worst Customer Service
I have had credit cards from MBNA, CapitalOne and American Express... I recently got a chase bank credit card because of the advertised 0% APR for the first year and the 3% cash back on qualified purchases. When they sent me the card they enclosed a PIN number and ENCOURAGED me to take out money at ATMS. Having just lost my wallet, and having not received my ATM card yet, I thought "Great!" Well, not great. What they ABSOLUTELY DO NOT mention is that even if you are only taking out $5, they are going to charge you a $10 service fee. Unfortunately, I did this twice. You would think that the 'customer retention' people would have the authority to take care of this. Absolutely not, they practically booted me out of the card services upon mere mention of closing my account. Oh, and by the way my APR is almost 25%... consider any other card before Chase credit cards... trust me, there are better cards. I have had beautiful customer service with my MBNA card. |

RE: late statement
Ah-hah! I see that some others here have had the same problem. I just posted the following under the related Epinions topic, "Chase Bank experience":
I'm wondering if anyone else suspects that Chase purposely fails to send bills once in a while. For the second time in the past year, I've received a bill from Chase indicating that the last month's bill is overdue. Of course, there is a finance charge. My wife and I are very careful to always pay our bills on time. We have a few credit cards, but we have almost never carried a balance on any of them (never on the Chase card), paying everything off each month. I use my Chase card for business, so my wife (who manages our finances) doesn't go through each item on that bill herself, but when it arrives, she is careful to note the amount due and the due date and to pass it on to me. We are so careful that in over 13 years of marriage we have never missed a payment on any sort of bill for any reason. Twice in one year, however, we have missed payments to Chase because we never received a bill. Of course, we cannot prove that they did not send us one, but knowing their reputation and our history, I have good reason to be suspicious. It seems to me that they've done this because we always pay everything off each month and they want to make sure they get at least some money out of us. I'd like to keep this card because it's tied into a deal with Amazon where I get points for books, but I might cancel it anyway. Of course, we'll now be more careful to note if no bill arrives from Chase, but for now, I'd like to know if anyone else has had the same experience and shares the same suspicion. |

RE: Chase Credit Card Suck
Agreed!!!
I have had a chase card for 4 years and have not made one late payment. I had a 12 month 0% intro period and then fixed at 5.99%. I received a notice a while back about a change in my rate to 14.99% but I could opt out. When I called, it was apparently because my credit score dropped a bit and i was "a risk".... meanwhile, i've never made a lite payment with chase or any other card or other debt. My score dropped when i balance transferred some school loans to some very low, fixed rate credit cards. It's so bogus and what makes me really mad is that i'm finally establishing a long term credit history and they want to close the account on me. I will never charge another thing again on the card, but I have four years of on time payments helping my credit score... now it will be gone.

Chase credit cards
I have been a chase credit card holder for a long time, and recently had a huge falling out with them. I warn you that there company, Chase doesn't honor their commitments, offers special financing and then doesn't honor the APR rate and hits you with a huge finance charge. The deceptive part is that we called them while a vendor was processing the card and they okd a purchase and then hit us with a huge increase because we were overlimit. Unbelievable. I will never do business with them again. I am very happy with American Express and Discover and when I was late with a payment with them, they were very forgiving. Please don't use chase.

Never use Chase
I do not have the time or space to go into ALL the problems I have had with Chase mortgage and Chase credit card in the past 6 months. It was such a horrible experience that I have refinanced three different mortgages I had with Chase to other companies(totaling close to $500,000) and closed two credit cards (totaling close to $15,000) that I had. Their customs service along with their business practices were the worst I have experienced in 20 years. I am telling as many people as I can of my horrific experiences. Never use Chase and get out if you have any of their products. |

Bank One
Hey you dumb fuks. Just for the record, Bank One bought Chase Manhattan (Chase did not buy Bank One and there was no "merger"; it was Bank One acquiring Chase). They kept the Chase name because it was the better recognized national bank. So stop making it look like Bank One was some poor little bank that got swallowed up by a big national bank. Get your sh!t straight before you say it out loud, or even better, just stay shut the fuk up. |

BEWARE OF CHASE
I have to strongly agree with the other opinions posted here about Chase. On one account they advanced the due date without prior notice, almost resulting in me sending in a payment late. On another account the statement did not reach me until app. a week before it was due, almost resulting in another late payment. The final insult was a
sudden increase in my interest rate to 29% despite no late payments on any of my accounts with them or anyone else. Suddenly I was a credit risk.
STAY AWAY FROM CHASE,DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AT YOUR PERIL. |

RE: Chase Fraud
the same exact scenario happened to me.
i am trying to do some research on how i can better deal with Chase. i find that this practice of theirs, whereby they charge additional interest to you after you pay your account in full (claiming that the bill runs on a average daily balance system) is totally unorthodox and unacceptable.
but i feel at an absolute loss as to how i can better approach them!
their customer representatives are so obstinate.
(one time, one of the reps actually scoffed at me!)
chase pulls every punch to trick their customers into being forced to pay more. this includes hiking up the interest rate to 30% because they may have changed the payment due date earlier (sometimes as much as by five days), which in turn makes your payment *late*, or by billing you subsequent amounts even after you've paid the entire balance off, etc. the list goes on and on.
is there any suggestion on how i could approach them to call them on their game? |

Chase's corrupt business practices
I have to share two similar experiences with Chase Credit Cards. In the last year I have gotten two notices from Chase on two different accounts raising my interest rate to 31% and 29%. In both cases this was a more than 100% increase in my interest rate. I have no late payments with Chase or any other creditor ever. I am not over my credit limits and have not opened any credit in the last year. On top of that I have actually paid down my credit by about $12k in the last 6 months.
In both cases I called Chase to inquire on the reason for the increase. The first time I actually had a fairly nice and respectful customer service person who actually was shocked by the 30% interest rate. She transferred me to a supervisor based in Texas (whose name I misplaced unfortunately), who out and out yelled at me and basically called me irresponsible. It was by far the worst customer experience I have ever had. Suffice to say I transferred that account to another card and close that Chase credit card.
In the second case last week I again called customer service and basically talked to a machine who kept repeating the same three lines. She could not give me any good reason for the exorbitant increase in the interest rate other than they viewed me as an increased credit risk. I asked a few times if Chase was trying to force me into closing the account to which she responded it is your choice if you would like to close this account. To which I respond what other choice are you giving me when you are charging nearly 30% interest!
I pulled the credit report and score from the agency Chase claimed to have used to justify this interest rate increase. I have no negatives and a 722 credit score. My household makes significantly nearly $200k. I see no defensible reason to be charging such predatory interest rates. My solution was to transfer that balance to another card and close that Chase account.
I suspect Chase noticed that I had paid down some of my other balances and wanted their money too. So they raised their rates to force my hand. I see no reason to continue providing profits to a company that has no respect for its customers.
I am appalled by the way Chase treats its customers and refuse to ever open an account with any Chase or JP Morgan company for either personal or business reasons. I have never been treated so poorly by any organization. I highly recommend consumers stay away from any Chase companies and suggest that if you have an account with them to pay off or transfer the balance to another card as quickly as possible. If you have a checking account go to Citibank or BofA, which have far superior customer service. Any sort of investment or savings account go to Fidelity, ING Direct, Emigrant, etc. If you are on the business side stay away from JP Morgan. There are plenty of other choices with Goldman, Lehman, Morgan Stanley, Merrill, Bear, UBS, etc.
I live in NY and any suggestions on who to file a complaint with would be helpful.

chase credit cards are a poor choice
I will add to the comments. I paid off the card and the next month received a bill for 20.00 finance charge on the 0 (that is right zero) balance. When I called to complain I was told too bad, the payment did not post before the 13th of the month so they could charge this extra amount and they were not willing to negotiate--even though they knew the payment was pending transfer. The reason I paid off the card in the first place was they raised their 5.99% rate to 29.99 because the card was 5.00 over the limit for one day. This company is very rude and unresponsive to customers. It is appalling that is is Amazon.com's credit card of choice. |

Insurance Fraud?
I have a Chase Credit card and enrolled in the "Total Protection" insurance plan. I paid a minimum of $10 every month for this disablitiy insurance and made my credit card payments monthly for years. Last year I became disabled. Thinking that I would pay off my credit card anyway, I continued paying my credit card. Now it has occurred to me that I shouldn't be paying for the disability insurance unless I am going to use it. (My thinking has been slightly skewed since my disability.) I filed for the "Total Protection" and found out today that my claim was denied. I called to discuss this with a Chase representative but have been ignored except for daily "important calls from Chase" to my home. |

Chase is HORRIBLE!
I think I have one that just takes the cake. I opened up a Chase account when I sold Mary Kay cosmetics about three years ago. Appantly I went over my limit by $10. No one EVER told me, i didn't get a letter to inform, in fact, if you go over your credit card limit, they are supposed to decline the card. Nope, not Chase... they started charging me over limit fees EVERY month! Not ONCE did they contact me to let me know! The point of having a credit card limit is so that doesn't happen! They call me 10 times a day, everyone tells me something different and gives me the runaround. Now, they say that they are gong to take ME to court! My boyfriend's brother is a lawyer and is going to talk to them, but I've HAD IT! Why hasn't there been a class action suit yet? Is there anthing we can do to fight this??!?!?! |

E-Statement My Foot!
For the month of April we suddenly stopped receiving statements in the mail. I called customer service and they said I signed up for e-statements only. That was a bunch of crap! I never agreed to e-statements and had only viewed the information on the Chase site. My wife and I had decided not to do it. But, these idiots insisted I agreed to it. They did remove it. But, we are getting reamed by their sickening business ethics! According to them we are 38 days overdue on payments! Bunch of crap! On top of this they called my place of employment over 100 times for a week (which happens to be part of the largest retailer in the U.S. :-P), which is a violation of federal law! Their butt is going to be in a sling when I get through with 'em. I'm talking to an attorney this week. |

RE: E-Statement My Foot!
YEP, they call me like 10 times a day, AND on weekends, BUT when I try to call them on weekends, no one is there. They also called me at work, di dn't even identify themselves and said "what is the address there?" I said, who is this? They said this is so and so from Chase bank and I hung up. I have a lawyer dealing with them too. |

Chase's "SECURITY" sucks also!!
I just got off the phone with a Chase "security" rep and I am livid! I suppose this all has to do with the fact that Bank One took them over. I have had my Visa card with Chase for 12 years and never had a problem until late last year. I was at a supermarket, dong a very large purchase late at night when I was shocked to have my card denied. The cashier had to call the manager who called Chase and after a series of questions for me, they said to put it through. Of course, that didn't work, and I had to step off the line and go with the manager to call Case again. They had the NERVE to tell me that they were questioning this transaction because it was a supermarket that I don't normally shop at (same chain but about 20 minutes from my usual one, and I had shopped there a few times a year), it was a larger than my normal purchases (around $300), and it was much later than I normally shop (around midnight). Good lord, I didn't realize that I needed to call Chase to inform them that I was going to the store that was open 24 hours a day to do an enormous shopping late at night, because I was preparing for lots of company!
This has never happened to me in 12 years of having a Chase card. After that first time, it happened again a couple of months later when I was trying to buy my child two pairs of shoes. Not wanting to be hassled, I put it through on my bank's debit card and called them later. They claimed it was a security measure, even though I had shopped in this mall and at this store before, (but not weekly, or even monthly).
Today I placed a clothing order online form a company that I order from a few times a year. Well, my card was denied! I checked the number, checked my Visa account online, and everything was fine (geez, I made a $4,000 payment less than two weeks ago!). So, I called Chase and explained that this was the third time this has happened in the last several months and I want to know what the problem is. They put me through to a person n "security" and I had to explain it all over again. He told me that it was because of all the fraud, they had so many millions of dollars in fraud in 2005 and now they are taking these protective measures. I explained what a huge inconvenience this is to good customers, no to mention rather embarrassing.
Also, I told him I was very concerned because we were going on vacation next month and do I have to call Chase first to tell them what state we will be in before they embarrass and inconvenience us when they see these unusual charges in a different state? He replied. "YES"!! WTF???!!! That's when I lost it and ranted to him. I cannot believe I now am expected to answer to a credit card company and advise them of my every move. Um, I'm a little too old for that, no thank you. I'm paying off my card and getting a new Visa with a different company asap! They totally suck!! |
