RE: late statement

The same thing happened to me also... Talk about getting poor customer service... They did not send me a bill, and they went with out a payment for a month. Then I get hit with all these fees. So, I cancelled my credit account, because there was no getting though to their customer service people... It is like they are collection agents instead of customer service... That is rediculous... Any ways, I had an $80 balance when I closed my account. Than again I did not receive an bill from them for two months... Then the next one I receive is for $165.00....So, I sent the payment and I just called today to make sure they received it and my account was officially closed. He tells me that it is showing a zero balance, but I will have another bill comming for finanace charges... I told him that I have been not receiveing my bills, and I need them to send me the last bill in the mail asap. He said that they were sending my bills via email, and I am responsible if they were not received. I had my email address changed over 7 months ago, and they are just noticing now that they are not going though... They stil refused to have any fees removed. The last of the finance charges I pay will be sent certified... They are a joke, and this would be the last credit card company I would refer to anyone....

Chase sucks

They are awful. Absolutely pathetic. I think Amazon.com and several other companies are using Chase as their own credit card providers. We should complain to them, too, to suggest that they get a company that is not so utterly perverse. I did not have to pay late fees or get a bad credit mark, but they were constantly denying my charges and the card was virtually unusable. They were rude on the phone when I tried to complain. The reason they gave was "security", although they would even deny charges for companies I'd purchased from before with no problems!

I despise JP Morgan Chase, and hope they rot.

RE: Chase Credit Card Suck

We tried to pay a $121 late fee (still no idea how it was late, since we did automatic computer payments) by phone with a Chase card representative and 2 days later got a letter that our payment did not go through and we would be charged another late fee. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY - they apparently will do anything to mess you up. We already transferred our account away from them and warn anyone reading this to not use anything related to this company.

RE: Chase & Circuit City

Quote: nmcshaw
I too, have had a bad experience with Chase. I purchased a laptop from Circuit City in May 2006 with a promo of 6 months same as cash. This of course opened an account with Chase (which I was not aware of prior to my purchase). My philosophy when I take on a financial responsibility is to pay off the amount in increments before any finance charges are assessed. So imagine my surprise when I started receiving bills with finance charges in July. When I called customer service, I was told that the promotion was not recorded and they could not adjust my account. When I asked if I could speak to a manager and if they really wanted to inconvenience me by forcing me to go back to the store to get my adjustment, I was put on hold for ½ hour and then hung up on. Circuit City representatives were very pleasant and even they were puzzled why Chase could not make the adjustment. I personally think such representation indicates poor management and doesn’t deserve my business. I transferred the balance to another card and now am having trouble finding how to close the account.

Further, I think the only way Chase will get the message is if large companies like Circuit City refuse to do business with them...

I also was unaware of the Chase credit card aspect of a 12 months same as cash purchase at Circuit City. If I had been, I would never have signed up for it, simply because it was Chase bank.

I bought an HDTV for $3000 on this plan, made payments every month, auto-drafted from my checking account. My debit card expired 2 weeks before the very last payment was due, but if Chase had submitted the auto-draft as usual, it would've worked just fine. The checking account was still there, had the money in it, and the debit card was renewed automatically (like it always is) with the same account number on it. The last payment was 3 days late before I logged into my bank account and discovered that Chase hadn't taken out the last payment. The Chase CSRs were unwilling to cut me any slack and said that escalating it to a supervisor would not make any difference. The end result is they charged me 25% interest, back-dated for the entire 12 months of the loan.

I will NEVER have another Chase account and I will never buy anything on credit at Circuit City or any other retailer that uses Chase for financing. BTW, my credit score is outstanding. Chase lost a good, low-risk customer by treating me like dirt and being exceptionally greedy and sleazy.

Your debit card being renewed would have had nothing to do with what happened to you. Stop making s*** up.

Chase changes due dates arbitrarily

I'll keep it short. They moved up my Chase Card due date by 5 days, right after I set up AutoPay from my new Chase Checking account.

They didn't print a late fee on my statement, but online I can see they charged and reversed it for my on-time second payment. Now they say they can't cut me any slack because it's the second late fee. But it's not.

Here's some truth for all who feel they are worth something to Chase because you pay your bills on time: you're not. They hate you for paying your bills on time, or paying your balance in full. They don't make money off of you. You're the kind of account that card companies like to get rid of, so they can finance someone who will pay more fees.

BEWARE OF CHASE

I recently tried to close a Chase credit card, doing so meant being transferred to 3 people, the final was frankly argumentative and very reluctant to close the account. Two weeks after the account was closed, Chase honored a charge against the already CLOSED account and continues to charge me late fees and interest. Their customer service reps are less than helpful and 3 out of the 4 I have spoken with tell me it's my fault! The ordeal is still ongoing with no end in sight, despite countless calls and emails. Stay as far away from this company as you possible can, the customer service is anything but customer orientated and the frustration is not worth it.

RE: Chase Credit Card Suck

I am worse off than you are, but I am an expert at this. You have to call Chase and tell them that you did not receive the statement and didn't realize that a month went by already. Tell them that you never missed a payment and ask them to give you a one time courtesy of reversing the late payment charge (which is probably anywhere from $25-$39) and ask them to reinstate your 2.99% interest rate. Tell them that you would like them to send you another statement seeing as you never recieved the first one. Since you never were late or missed a payment in the past they should do it for you....if they give you trouble, call back again and again until one of the reps does it. Also mention that you have been a customer for a very long time and tell them to check the history on the account and they will find that you have never been late...good luck!

credit card fees & such

SSDD...
Applied for a SWA card to get some "free" mileage segments... found out I had applied for a Chase issued VISA with a $39/yr annual fee (yeah... didn't read the small print... found out after my first charge, tried to pull my FF# and see if segments credited). Called "customer service", had them cancel the card, remove yearly fee. Of course, they didn't want to, so I told them OK.. pro-rate it (39/365=?/day). After some argument... they did the "one time fee waiver" & cancelled the card (I had a $20 charge on it). WHen I got the bill, the fee was adjusted off.. but there was a $35 late charge.
Of course... they already waived my one-time fee, so they expect me to pay the late charge. They got $20 & a promise to take the %^&^%$!!! to court for any damages to my credit score (after 2 phone calls & 2 letters trying to straighten this out.
I have three other acounts with Chase. They are all being cancelled

Worst Credit Card EVER

Here's what Chase did to us: We too advantage of a 0% offer Chase offered and paid our balance every month automatically through our banks billpay service. Since the interest rates have gone up a bit since then, Chase moved the due date on us so we would be late, whereby nullifying the 0% and they could start charging us interest. After calling and explaining we were only a day late and it was our first time they would not change the interest rate. So we closed the account.

Chase is the most crooked credit card company I have ever been with. Their policies give no leeway to the customer. All the other cards I have had (CitiBank, AmEx, etc...) always try to work with the customer. DO NOT get a card with Chase. If you take advantage of an offer, make sure you pay attention to it and make sure you can pay it off ASAP if you have to, or they will suck you dry.

I think Chase used to be reputable. What happened? Anyone know? Who bought them?

Chase credit card SUCKS!!!!!

I hate CHASE credit card with the passion. I hate their rude stupid incompetent managers. I had their stupid card for several years. Originally I had a Bank One card, but it got bought up by these b+st+rds. I haven't had a single late payment for all these years. And then I did. I was one day late. And these stupid as++oles tell me that they can't take the late payment off at this time, that my acct isn't qualified etc. I hate them. I wish I knew how much they suck, but I didn't. Never, never again I will use this stupid card. I hope the whole bunch of sh+t will happen to the as++oles that were so rude to me.

CHASE really sucks!

I can't believe that so many people are being screwed by these b+st+rds. They can't get away by getting so many people mad. I warn everyone I can about chase. Good thing I didn't get any further with this stupid card. Please excuse my language, I just spoke with another rude and dumb cs representative and am soo angry. I used to do CS work myself, but it never occured to me to be so rude to people. I wonder if they have a special training on how to harass the customers.

I know that opening and closing a credit card lowers your credit score, but does anyone know if one late payment will lower your credit score by a lot?

Chase

Believe it or not, credit card rates are completely negotiable. Ask to talk to a manager or supervisor. You just have to tell them you are very upset, and will be transferring your balance to another credit card. Look up what the current deal with discover for transfers is (to sound legit) and tell them you just received a zero percent or 1.9 or whatever it is for transfers and will be transferring your balance. Now you have been a loyal customer for X amount of years and would gladly stay, where they to make it worth your while. Otherwise you will be closing the card. Banks jump at this, because your interest is their income. They do not want to lose you as a customer, and will more often than not give you a way better deal. It is definitely worth a try. I have done this with many, many credit cards, and they just beg you to stay. "Ma'm how about if we lower your percentage by 10 percent and raise your limit by another 5 thousand dollars?" Seriously, it works. You just have to really sound upset at the service you are getting with them.

f*8*ing chase wont do it

Yeah, smartiekat, i'm glad this worked out for you. Other banks seem to be a lot more customer friendly than Chase. Chase doesn't care whether you're upset, whether you're dead etc. I did sound upset and they themselves offered to cancel my credit card. Bastards. I hate them. I hope there is a special place in hell for them.

Thank you Everyone!!!

Hi,

I just discovered this message board on Chase credit cards a few minutes ago. I have received many offers from Chase on fixed APRs. I truly considered them, but I wanted to do some research on other credit cards. I happen to come across this message board, and I had no idea what a nightmare this credit card company is. However, I should have guessed it.

My mother had problems with them a few years ago. She mails all her payments on time and way ahead of time, as always. However, they "claimed" to have received one of her payments late. Her interest rate immediately went up, and she was stuck with a late payment fee. Whenever she confronted them about it, they pretty much said tough cookies. There was nothing they could do, and they aren't responsible for the post office deliveries. My mother paid the card off and closed the account.

I am throwing these Chase credit card offers in the trash! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you for the advanced warning. I will definitely consider another credit card company.

chase sucks cont...

Hi 1986, I'm glad you didn't become a victim of this massive fraud. Next time when you get a "great" offer from chase, send it back to them and tell'em to stop spamming you. I suggest you go with a credit union credit card instead of all these commercial cr+p.

RE: Chase Credit Card Suck

This is there first move. I was late one time around Christmas (payment delayed in mail). Chase sugg. that I go online to make payments. So I did. Not only did I make monthly payments I also make a one extra a month. Needless to say my interest rate went from 8.99 to 39.02%. It will be paid off this month. They have lost all my business.
It is a matter of time it will happen to you! Beware and goodluck

Chase is Bad News

I too just got my rates raised to 29.99% because of the balances on my other cards. I reported them to the better business bureau and my senators. Our government is supposed to protect us they sure dropped the ball on this one.

STAY AWAY FROM CHASE!!!!
