GrannieFraud

In Dec. of 2006 my darling niece applied for a Chase credit card in my mother's name online without my mother's knowledge, the credit card was mailed to my neice and she began her sepnding spree. After the account was several hundred dollars Chase called my mother on the phone to get authorization for use of this card, my 75 year old mother was confused and thought this was an existing account that she had with Chase and gave the ok to let my niece use the card for emergencies, note the card had $5,000 credit limit at this time. In September of 2006 my mother got a call from Chase that her account was past due and at over $13.000! In talking with Chase we found out that this was a whole new account that my neice opened without my now 76 year old mother's knowledge. Chase said that they had my mother on tape and that she was responsible for the bill. They refused to give us a copy of the application for verification. By Chase's own admission a phone call was made by someone claiming to be my mother to increase the credit line from $5,000 to $13,000 my mother was NEVER notified of this increase. I was the one who cancelled the account because my mother was to distraught to do so. Chase refuses to go after my neice for fraud even though their practices made it so easy to defraud my mother and now she is being hasseled by their glorified collection agency in Atlanta receiving 10 phone calls in a two week span. Does anyone else see a problem with this? I feel that Chase is as culpable of de-frauding my mother as my neice. Help!!

RE: GrannieFraud

Forget Chase... you need to talk to the police. Your neice has stolen $13,000 and used your mother's name to do it. Go to the police and I'm sure Chase will cooperate with whatever needs to be done.

If someone stuck a gun in your ribs and stole $13,000, you'd dang sure go to the police. This is no different, except that it was a credit card instead of a gun. Do you really want to have your neice force your mother to pay $13,000? That's what will happen if you don't go to the police.

I do not see that Chase is anywhere nearly as culpable as the neice. After all, it called and got your mother to agree to the usage of the credit card. No, it's the neice who commited a crime and she should face the consequences.

I was happy to see all the negative responses regarding Chase raising interest rates. My account payments were late 2 times due to serious illness problems. Because of this the interest rate was recentl raised to over 29%. I do have a large balance, but have closed the account and have been doing well with paying more than the minimum amount each month over the past 3 years. I recently got a notice stating the minimum payment would raise to $370.00 per month. I called Chase to talk with a financial councelor, which turned out to be a joke! First, I realized the person I talked to could bearly speak OR understand English! They were of no help whatsoever, and I was told "that is just the way it is" and nothing can be done to change it unless I want to pay the complete balance now ( which I cannot do). Is there not something that can be done to stop Chase from raping the consumer???

Chase can chase me

The story I tell is my own stupidity, I applied on line to consolidate two other credit cards totaling $9000.00 that are killing me. Chase came back and told me "Congratulations you’re approved". I was relieved & excited ok just thrilled. I wasn’t going to have to pay those other credit cards anymore and was going to be able to pay them off with 0% interest for the next 12 mths. Now 2 weeks pass I call to find out were my card is at and to check up on it. I am informed that my new balance is $206.00 and my limit is $400.00 bucks. Well now I’m really confused they approved me to do a balance transfer of 9k I wait for 30 minutes to talk to someone they tell me that they did approve the account but only for $400.00 and sent one transfer to my other card of $200.00. They had the nerve to tell me I was approved but for less then .4% of what I asked for and that they had upon “my request” sent the money to the other creditor. Now I owe Chase $206.00 thanks Chase, way to get new customers buy stealing 200 bucks from them and not even paying the interest for one mth to the other credit card. Chase you should be ashamed of yourself anybody who works there should be ashamed of themselves anybody who has money their should be ashamed of them self’s.
PS "I will work for food" who knows maybe I can panhandle the 200 bucks they took out of my kids mouths.

Chase Leave Me Alone

Everyday - I mean Everyday there is a Chase envelope in my mailbox soliciting my business .... I have called them and they are for any other description stupid. Marketing is designed to influence a customer over. I wouldn't chose Chase for any reason under the sun - I suggest you don't either.

RE: I WORKED FOR CHASE

I just spoke with Chase to get an amount for a payoff on my account. They offered me one amount and then I counter offered. Was told that if they accept the amount I wanted to pay off that they have to report this amount to the IRS
and then I would get a 1099 form from the IRS. Is this just a trap to get me to pay them more money?

RE: I WORKED FOR CHASE

Paris,

How can we get our APR back to where it was when they increase it for "no" reason?

RE: complaint about CHASE

My dilemma is similar to several previous posts in that I responded to a Chase Freedom Visa Signature card "0% Fixed intro APR on purchases and balance transfers until March 1, 2008. Plus, no balance transfer fees with this offer!" and made one credit card balance transfer shortly after activating my account, however, when I made another credit card balance transfer in July 2007, I was charged a $75 fee.

I subsequently wrote to the Cardmember Service, P.O. Box 15299, Wilmington, DE 19850-5299 address on July 29, 2007 to request the date and reason why they exercised their right to change the account terms and received an ambiguous form letter dated August 6, 2007. In addition, I have sent numerous emails via their secure message center and the most recent response directed me to pursue the matter further with Deborah Walden, Office of the President, 2500 Westfield Drive, Elgin, IL 60123, Mailstop: IL1-6215. Therefore, today, I further researched JPMorgan's SEC filings and acquired the address of Gordon A. Smith who was appointed to head the Chase Card Services group effective June 18, 2007 succeeding Richard Srednicki, CEO who submitted an Addendum to Statement to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations dated March 7, 2007 and I'm currently preparing a letter and will be sending it via USPS Certified Mail - Return Receipt Requested to Mr. Smith with copies to Stephen M. Cutler, Legal & Compliance as both gentlemen are JPMorgan Chase's executive committee members. Oh, by the way, I'll also send a copy to Deborah Walden's address.

In closing, and for what it's worth, my consumer reaction is that the Chase financial service advisors in Wilmington, DE and the call centers representatives are capitalizing on a deceptive marketing scam.

I'll post more feedback on an ongoing basis!

RE: I WORKED FOR CHASE

Have requested on numerous occasions to have my interest rate reduced. They continuously claim that there is no lower interest rate available yet I have received several offers in the mail to apply for a chase card with a lower rate. I have threatened to transfer my balance elsewhere but frankly its more of a pain than to just keep it there. Any advice on how to handle with Chase?

RE: The

Same thing is happening to us with Chase. My wife paid a bill online and apparently we were made paperless after that. We, unknowingly, received late payments and had delinquencies reported to the credit bureaus. I fought it several times with Chase over the phone. They took some late charges off my account, but who cares? $39 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. My credit rating has dropped and I'm in the process of trying to buy a house! I finally gave in and paid everything remaining on my account and told them I wanted to cancel all of my accounts with them . . . and of course today (weeks later) we receive an email that our statement is ready for viewing online. Idiots.

Now I have to try to fight the negative reports to the credit bureaus. Did you have to do that too?

Another Victim

WOW! I though I was singled out for some reason. I have 2 chase credit cards and they were both 9.9% intrest, now they are both 29.99%! This has to stop! The government needs to do something about this. I finally got online tonight and found thousands of people who have fallen into this credit trap of CHASE BANKS along with myself this year. I will be calling them as soon as the office opens in the morning. Not quite sure what I'm going to say, but I am concidering legal action.

I've had enough

Contacted Chase, told them of the many people who believe this is fraud. They only thing they could do for me is if I sign up for "auto-pay", after 12 consecutive months, they will drop the intrest rate to 20%... I'VE NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT!!! Filed a complaint with the BBB, will be contacting the Administrator of National Banks as soon as they open.

I encourage all of you to do so also.
BTW, my account is closed. Now I'm debating paying the balance or paying an attorney.

chase & WaMU

The earlier post about bank one acquiring chase, I don't think is correct, the notice I received was chase acquired bank one, they changed the credit cards over to chase. possibly it was a name change I don't know. But I have had nothing but horrible experiences with chase. They are like AT&T, keep gobbling up the decent companies and exploiting their customers.

I had a bank one card that Six Flags pushes at their parks, had a nice credit limit, great interest rate. AFTER the name changed to Chase, they 'reviewed' my credit score and upped my interest to 29.9%. I had NEVER been late on any of my mortgages, credit cards, auto loans & leases. I paid it off and closed the account.

I also had about the same time, a card issued by providian, when washington mutual bought them out, they decreased my credit limit down to my balance due to my credit score and once again, there was nothing at all bad with my credit score. They did this twice, taking a 3k credit limit down to 1400. They then raised the interest rate to the current 24.9% rate. I paid the card off and just quit using it.

Meanwhile, MBNA issued me a excellent card with a $13k limit and 12% interest rate.

Capitol One has always been great, they don't give credit increases too much, that is my biggest complaint, but I have had 5 of their cards for many years and never had one problem with them EXCEPT they don't report my credit limits to the credit bureaus. So it makes me wonder how much this skews my credit score when the limit is zero and you have balances...?? anybody know if this affects it??

29.99% Chase credit card mess

Any attorneys out there interested in initiating a class action suit against these pirates? There seems to be an endless number of helpless victims...including me! This is an atrocity.

The truth credit cards are designed to generate money.....so now do you think paying it off in full will get you in CHASE's good grases.....no ...the valuble ones to them are the ones paying Finance Charges.....duh...your credit bueru score only tells lenders how much you pay in intrest....you think a bank will loan money to some one that dosen't pay for it?

RE: GrannieFraud

As hard as it may be, you do need to call the police about your neice. The previous poster was correct; if you get the police involved Chase will cooperate. Your mom will not be bothered anymore. The Law is there for this very reason. You will not be doing your neice any favors by letting her get away with stealing from her GRANDMOTHER! She needs to learn that crime is punished. Better sooner than later.

Chase CC = Thiefs

The point is already made, but here is my contribution, which doesn't differ from what I'm been reading. I've been with chase for 6 or 7 years, 3 or 4 times they had raise my interest rate to 29 with the same excuse: "there's something in your credit...".

What I've decide to do is not use it at all. So while chase keeps increasing my credit limit, they don't reduce my interest rate, and all the other credit cards I have keep increasing my limits and reducing their rates.

Also a few years ago a Cashier at Target saw my card and advice me to be careful or stay away from chase, she said she worked for them and she was shocked to learn their practices. Only reason I keep it is because was my first credit card and the account's length helps my credit score.

STAY AWAY FROM CHASE IF YOU CAN, THEY'RE THIEFS.

Chase card class action lawsuit?

I see from all the similar posts that Chase has pulled the same scam on everyone else as they have me. Anyone have any information on how or if a class action lawsuit can be filed against this company? Aren't the "usary" laws out there still?
