At my school the staff (eg me! :-( ) spend a ridiculous amount of time scheduling the parent teacher conferences that we have twice a year. Does anyone know of any good software for doing this online? We can't afford to spend much on it. Thanks!

We have been looking into online signups. There are two free sites that I am aware of: http://www.ptcfast.com and http://www.volunteerspot.com. (Has anyone tried any of these out?) There are also maybe a dozen sites that charge a fee per class or per school or per teacher. - Elois

There are a lot of options to choose from, but I would stay far away from the free versions since they can not compare in customer support of features to the other services.

Among the best parent-teacher conference scheduling software packages I saw, PTC Wizard ( http://www.ptcwizard.com ) seems to be the best. It has the more comprehensive features for the lowest prices.

Another site not mentioned above that looks worth checking out is Parent Booker - www.parentbooker.com. It coordinates parent teacher evenings but also coordinates any kind of parent volunteer events - getting yard duty volunteers, classroom helpers and displays all the open slots on an easy to use calendar page.

When parents login they see their progress against service hours (if your school does service hours) a list of relevant volunteer events and a link where you can drop the school calendar along with the volunteer events you've signed up for right into your Apple iCalendar. (They're working on Google Calendar integration)

It's $59.95 a month and they help you get setup.
