Hubby was being a smart a** last night.
"Ive never been to bed with an advisor. Should I be worried on how I will be rated?"

That's hilarious.

RE: Ummm I didn't get any?

I haven't received any yet either. No spam filter issue. I did get a congrats from the H&G team, but no official hat letters from Eps. ??

Me either, but I've only one to worry about. Checked spam, nothing there either.

Well at least I'm not the only one but it seems like we are in the minority.

I get my alerts just fine. I get at least an e-mail a day from readers. I have nothing in spam nor should I. But no letters. jo

Do you have another e-mail address that you signed up with? I know mine go to that one instead of my regular "eps" account.

RE: Ummm I didn't get any?

The same with me. I received a congrats letter from the K&F CL re: a TR hat but did not receive an official letter from Epinions ... but ... I did receive a letter from Epinions re: my TR in Beauty. I checked with the K&F CL and she said that I did get a hat in K&F ...

Slightly confused,
Pooks

RE: Ummm I didn't get any?

Hey pooks,
I think this is because I screwed your name up on the list and had it without the underscore. I'll take the blame. Why not, everyone else wants to throw me under the bus and now that Gracef is gone someone has to be blamed!

Are hats like crack?

Ok, no seriously... I've been thinking about this ever since Mel and I emailed each other...

Before I got my first hat, I honestly didn't care that much. I wrote reviews, I read and rated others, but it wasn't a large part of my daily life. Then, out of the blue, I get a orange hat...

... and it becomes necessary to want more... more orange, maybe even a blue or two... I'm already trying to figure out a way to get a TR in books (next goal)... it's like I'm insane.

Are hats as addicting to you guys? Do you keep wanting more or is there a level where you just stop and say "Too much!"? Or is it just me and my addictive personality?

Is this why positive praise at work does so much better than negative? Because we're trained to need that egoboo that comes with a "Job well done" Award?

At this point, I'm pretty good. I definitely don't have a desire for another Advisor hat. Reading and rating reviews takes me a long time, I actually find it much more time-consuming than any individual TR hat.

While I don't know if I could handle MORE hats than I have now, I think maybe my life will change and evolve and I could see myself switching hats to reflect my current interests. I'd cry, though, if my lifestyle didn't allow for enough travel to retain my TR one there.

When I first read the subject line I laughed and said, "YES!"

But that's not necessarily true.

Actually, during my time here I'd wanted at least one little orange hat because I thought it would be cool. Then I got my little orange hat and life was good. Then recently I decided that I wanted to have a second little orange hat because I knew I was in a position to get one (i.e. I had a lot of books to review and was doing so, hence I figured "I might as well have a hat to go with it!")

Then I got emails saying I was keeping my first hat, getting a second orange hat (hooray), and inexplicably getting two blue hats! *gasp!* I was never aiming for them, but I was glad to have them and very excited about it. I can't say I want more, so no, they're not really crack-ish to me. I'm quite happy having four little hats, mostly because I still have that semi-newbie mentality (yeah, I know I've been here for almost 4 years, but I can't help it) and think "Oh I have a lot to live up to!" and won't be wanting any new hats until I've had these for a while and start thinking maybe having a few more would be cool.

I hope all that made sense...I just woke up and got online for some reason that I seem to have forgotten now....

RE: Are hats like crack?

Sort of.

There is one more that I would like. Beyond that, I don't think I have enough hours in the day to keep up with anything more than that.

Absolutely, they're addicting, but I don't want anymore than I have now. In fact, I hesitate to write much outside my categories for fear I start to like another area, and then I get another hat. It was a bit overwhelming when I first got my travel and H&G TR hats, then the next round I got advisor hats. I've adjusted to juggling them now but I wasn't sure if I could manage at first.

I feel the exact same way. My one Advisor hat is all I want right now. The only category outside K&F where I feel qualified to Advise is way too busy for me to feel like I would do a good job. As for my two TR hats, every single month I wonder how I will write enough to do both categories justice and think about just letting one go, but that would require choosing a favorite and I can't.

Michelle, when your lifestyle doesn't allow for enough travel to retain a Travel TR hat, it will probably be because you are writing a lot in K&F.

Well I can completely understand.... if I had the number of hats that you do, I wouldn't want any more either :)
