rough estimate on IS per good review
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site & was suprisingly shocked (in a good way) to discover this site that you can make money off by submitting reviews on just about anything.
I so far have written 2 reviews. Was wondering if people can give me an idea on how much money people clear on this thing, say per 10 good reviews with lots of hits, how much are we talking? If you could throw so figures around so i get an idea, would appreciate muchly
thanks Heaps |

RE: rough estimate on IS per good review
It totally varies. My last couple reviews have made twenty cents but they are in Movies and I'm not a Top Reviewer (you aren't either though). If you've got top ratings, reviews quite possibly will earn *something* but don't count your pennies before the IS comes out.

RE: rough estimate on IS per good review
Hi Dam !
Yes, everyone gets a nickname around here, yours is an unfortunate consequence of your username... :-)
Welcome to Epinions! I don't think anyone can really answer this question for you because of the wide variety of payouts.
When I first started here, I earned anywhere from 0 to 50 cents on each of my reviews. Most were closer to the 0 than the 50. Of course, you potentially continue to earn on your reviews month after month. So it does add up after a while. But - don't quit your day job. Most of us are here cuz we love it, not for the big bucks.

*laugh*
Well, perhaps I should clarify. Those reviews have earned that much over the course of their life:p Actually they are closer to a dime a piece now that I look at them.

RE: rough estimate on IS per good review
It's very difficult to answer your question because there are many variables--what category/product you wrote on, if it was rated at least "helpful" or "very helpful", and number of page views (how many people read the review) to name a few.
When I first started out, most of my reviews earned like 2 cents per month. Two years later, my reviews on beauty products earn a whopping 5 cents per month on average. A really good pet food review might earn between a quarter and 50 cents for the first few months after it was written... then that drops off.
Long story short, you're not going to be making big bucks here at Epinions. 99% of us don't. |

I'd speculate that with no TR hat, you'll earn something in 0 - 15 cents per 100 non member visits range. If you concentrate on recently released medium/big ticket technology items, or other stuff that people need to review before buying, microwaves, tools, etc, you'll have a better chance of getting into the upper half of that range. Reviewing items with no, or few other reviews is usually important. If income share is your motivation, consider focusing on a area where you like to write and work towards earning a TR hat. |

Hiya damageink. Welcome to the site!
Lots of good advices posted already. They're right, too. I review mostly in movies and music categories, and it took me 11 months to earn the $10 needed to be able to cash out.
I was given a TR (top reviewer) hat on the 12th month, tho, and with that boost I earned $7 in one month (all the previous reviews plus the 6 new reviews). So I'm not quiting my job to concentrate on writing here. ;o)
O... must note that reviews submitted under the 'Home' categories (Writer's Corner and Member's Advice) don't earn you any IS.
Hope you're enjoying spending time here! The money isn't good but there are lots of wonderful writers who are also awesome companies here to hang with.
Cheers,
Smorg :o) |

RE: rough estimate on IS per good review
A few pennies, at least if the reviews are good and are in places that earn them enough hits and whatever else factors into IS development.
Basically, it's as everyone else says: It depends on a whole number of things. I've had a book make more in one month than a DVD. Being a Top Reviewer or any other "hatted" member (people with those fancy-shmancy labels by their names) will get you a little extra dough, but you never know when a hat may come so you can't count your chickens based on that.
I remember during my early days I was excited at getting a whole 7 cents in my account. Now I average about $30 without the Advisor bonus (though before I was a Top Reviewer I think it more like $20). But that's with over 500 reviews too...you can have fun doing the math. I haven't bothered with math since high school (ohyeah, that's right kids, I got to skip it in college because of the mass amounts of Calculus I took, boo-yah).
Ok, I'll stop being nostalgic now. I think I need to go to bed...
