RE: Epinions Meet And Greet - Chicago

I will try - if I have a job by then, there's a good chance I can visit my best girl, who happens to live in Chicago - and is an Eps member...you never know...

xoxo Robin

You mean no cruise this time?

And I'm not saying this because Robin didn't understand how to RSVP as I know she did. I'm saying this because my directions might not have been clear.

Please send an email to rsvp@epinions.com to RSVP, not by replying to this thread.

Thanks,

GG

Garrett, have the team in charge of selecting locations considered choosing sites with "local color"? After all, a Dave and Buster's in Chicago is no different from one in Austin (except for the team on the big screen), just like a Jillian's in Boston is no different from a Jillian's in... well, in Chicago?

(PS - if you decide on Austin for a M&G, try Z Tejas, Old Alligator Grill, the Filling Station...)

We did have one place with local flavor to choose from, but not knowing what it was really like except for pictures that they sent us, we weren't sure it was right. We already knew D&B's had exactly what we needed.

We can take suggestions next time on this message board for the next time we go to an unknown location.

Close But No Cigar!

Had I not already made plans to be in Southern Indiana too long to make it to Chicago in any decent shape, I would have loved to have made the connection.

As it is now, I hope that you'll consider Indiana for next fall.

I can even recommend a couple of places close to Chicago that will have everything you need:

One is called Pumps On 12 and is just west of Michigan City, IN on Hwy 12 in what's called Town Of Pines.

It's made out of a classic filling station with a bar and a family room divided by a reception area.

The whole place takes you back.

Another place is on the outskirts of the town of Chesterton, and it's called Indian Creek Resort. It has a beautiful lobby with a breathtaking view and several places to eat and drink.

A very relaxing atmosphere for sitting around and getting to know each other.

And, of course, you can move it further south to Indianapolis or Anderson.

And I can tell you quite a bit about both of those places, for some reason! LOLOLOL

Anyway, let's think about a Hoosier-Style M&G for the fall of 2005!

Warm Fuzzies!
AJ :o)

Aw thanks - hehe yeah, I'm an old pro at the RSVP now - I just have to work on the cruise-avoidance factor.

Say Robin...

I am always excited to see your latest user-pic . . .but tell me: Is that a dowager hump showing in your latest...?? And how did you manage to camouflage it so well in your past pics...???

RE: Epinions Meet And Greet - Chicago

Hey all,

I know some of you have said "maybe". Even if you're not sure, but there's a chance you will come to the Chi-Town M&G, go ahead and RSVP. This will give us a better idea when finalizing the order with D&B's.

Send the email to rsvp@epinions.com.

Thanks,

GG

RE: Epinions Meet And Greet - Chicago

There's a Best Western right downtown (maybe ten blocks from the D & B) that's relatively cheap (by downtown Chicago standards) and also has free parking. It's the Best Western River North.

chicago lodging & stuff

I also found a decent price at the Best Western Chicago on the River.

Again. By Chicago standards, so it's not "cheap" but "fine."

Shelly.

There are two Best Westerns in that area: BW River North (125 W Ohio) has free parking, BW Inn of Chicago (162 E Ohio) charges $22-24/night to house your car but it's a lot closer to shopping on Michigan Avenue's "Miracle Mile."

The BW River North is between LaSalle and Clark, about 8 blocks from the Dave & Buster's. FWIW, the two hotels are a lot further apart than the two blocks one might think from the addresses.

OK. I lied.

I found a good rate at Holiday Inn. I'm not sure what I was thinking with Best Western. That's what I get for sifting through Orbitz (reserved at the actual hotel site though) for the last few days.

CHICAGO-MART PLAZA (RIVERVIEW)

Holiday Inn :)

Ahh . . .but I saw a pic on one of the user 'm-n-g' picture pages. Apparently it was not the official Eps pic page(s).
