National Women's History Month W/O

“Women’s Art: Women’s Vision” is the theme designated for the 2008 National Women’s History Month. I want to honor the originality, beauty, imagination, and multiple dimensions of women’s lives in a way that makes sense to me. I’m hosting a write off on Women’s Art with the hopes that this introduces each of us to a new artist.

I’m inviting you to contribute. The rules are simple.

If you can review an exhibit or a performance, video or movie, dance or opera, if it’s in the database, review it but the object of the review should focus on the contributions of the female artist, the director, conductor, performer, playwright, singer, or dancer.

If you find a book that features the artist’s work or that tells about her life (biography or autobiography) review it. Don’t forget some of the amazing female artists and illustrators of children’s books. Review the book, but highlight the illustrator. You all know how to do this.

If you find some other creative option that is available in the database that highlights the female artist, review it.

As always:
Once reviewed, send me a link to your review so I can include it on the hopefully lengthy list.

Mention this write-off in your review

As always, leave a comment on my announcement and email me a link and I'll add that to the end. (pestyside@gmail.com)

I've provided a link to the announcement on my short bio. Naturally everyone’s invited to contribute as many times as you want.

Patsy

I take it the month is March?

I'll be there.

Sounds fun! I'll do my best to get something from my library for this one :)

You got that correct. Sorry, I do this month in another area so much I forget that not everyone is aware of it being March. I think I'll make an addition to my instructions. Thanks, I look forward to your contribution--you live in an area ripe with opportunity.

Ya know, I just realized I only said something about your write-off in that review, and I didn't link it up on my W/O page or anything, even though that was one of the first graphic novels I've checked out from my own library (instead of via interlibrary loan) in a long time. D'oh!

Guess I could go back and make those revisions but I'm just so lazy!

BTW Patsy, I love this w/o idea, it's really great!
