RE: Updated Visits?

My totals at the top of my page were updated, but my individual reviews were not. Maybe the counters took a vacation for International Labor Day...

On some of the reviews with the /reviews/ bug, the hit count stops after a few days and doesn't update. I've got a bunch of reviews like that. Hits were counted for a day or two and then stopped and were never counted again. I noticed this because they've got more rates showing on the review than hits and it's been weeks in some cases since those rates were added but no hits ever showed up.

One of Epinions' long-standing mysteries is that hit counts sometimes stop for a few days. The system is given a digital laxative, we all get a big jump in hit counts and everyone is happy again. I don't know that's what's happening now but you should be prepared for one of these intervals. Everyone gets r-e-a-l grumbly when they don't get their daily dosage of hit counts.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. The individual reviews I was talking about in my post were posted yesterday though. I'm not too concerned yet. I'm sure it will be corrected at some point, since my overall totals have been updated.

RE: Updated Visits?

It is sort of an Epi-tradition that the total visit hits don't update when going from the last day of one month to the first of the next. They will update...just later than we are used to.

Well, something worked and Epinions plumbing is back to normal. I just noticed my hits were counted...

All is well, carry on!

The hits might be updated in the future but what about the potential IS earnings for these reviews? If no hits are being tracked, there's no chance for any IS income and I doubt that if and when the hits are updated there will be a retroactive IS setup.

I sure hope they do get it fixed sometime soon.

I didn't think about the IS aspect. For me, that's not that big a deal, considering my highest earner has garnered a whopping ten cents over four months. I agree that there probably won't be retroactive IS.

Yeah, it would be nice if the hit-counting bug got fixed soon.

Me too. Just about all my Pet reviews have that problem, it's quite annoying that all these reviews are virtually invisible to the outside world.

Bingo.

My full board, Total visits and specific reviews have all updates. I'll say BINGO!! too. Even if for a different reason.

I have also noticed a positive change total daily page views. I took a huge hit in daily views when things changed last fall. I dropped about 400-500 views per day. I have gained about two hundred of them daily.

There's also a trend with many of my reviews that totally stopped picking up hits to start gaining some again. I have considered all the new reviews I have posted since then but my numbers are def going up.

Travel seems to be doing the best. Restaurants are mixed as is Books. There are still far too many reviews that simply do not seem to be visible to the world outside of Epinions. That would be specifically in many of the food and drink and Home and Garden pieces I posted in recent months.

Anyways, the hits slowly coming back is a good thing.

RE: Updated Visits?

I have 2 reviews that are big earners that went invisible for the first third of March. Filed bug reports and a few days later the reviews were garnering their combined 100 hits per day.

Suddenly around the last ten days of April, they went dead again and I haven't seen an outside hit since. Filed bug reports again and so far nothing. Between the 2 we're talking about $40 - $50/ month in IS. And now it just gone. It feels like someone just put his hand in my pocket and removed the money.

We're 6 months into this "SP" or whatever and it seems like we're just deeper into the forest.

The hits did come up much earlier than I thought. I figured we'd have to wait until later.

Mine have NOT been updated in a couple of days. I came to ask on the 30th but was trying to respect the no complaining (STFU) day ;)

RE: Updated Visits?

I have noticed that a lot of my book reviews had really (really) strong hits in April - best month ever on a lot of them (and it got me into the Books Top 200 a couple months sooner than I would have thought).

However, I still have a number of "/review/" reviews that haven't registered any hits (or IS) for a couple months now. A couple days ago, I send in a whole bunch of bug reports on these and haven't heard anything back quite yet.

RE: Updated Visits?

(nudge, nudge) ....

It's now the late evening of May 2nd.

Mine still aren't correct. Anything in the last day finally got a hit count, but the other reviews #'s are not changing. My Skittles review has said 27/27 for days now ...

should it be updated to reflect the number of member reads by now? Help.

Kimm

This is probably one of the reviews that will remain ''stuck'' on the same number :( -Dave

RE: Updated Visits?

"/review/" reviews

can someone explain what the previous phrase means?
Also, my profile page always runs far behind the counts on the review page. It isn't simply the review page runs a day or so ahead of the count--often, the profile count never catches up, even if there aren't new ratings or visits.
One other thing. The second number is definitely outside visits? I've read on some outside FAQ sites that that second number isn't outsiders. But if not, what is it?

I, too, am very frustrated in the huge dropoff in hits from earlier days, when the site was still new. Is there a cogent, official explanation for this?
