/review/ Reviews hit count status?

There had been word earlier in the month (or perhaps it was at the end of May) that there was a chance that reviews with the dreaded /review/ URL in them would start to count hits because of a fix that would be rolled out towards the end of June (they'd start counting when the fix was rolled out).

It's the end of June and I was wondering if anything was going to happen for the better for these reviews? I haven't noticed any counts on any of my /review/ reviews at this point.

I know the MPA/MPR got fixed, but that's going to be irrelevant fairly quickly (if it isn't already) if half the reviews on the site and all the reviews in specific categories (Sports & Outdoors, Wellness, Beauty, and Restaurants are the 1st that come to mind) don't count any hits.

RE: /review/ Reviews hit count status?

I had a sports/outdoors review gain a spot back on the MPR list, but it still has /review in the url and hardly gets any hits these days (probably why it's placed in the high 900's!!). Weird that reviews that seemed to be fine are now more or less broken in terms on hits.

More or less the same with me - in the MPA/MPR list for Sports, but no new hits showing on any reviews with /review - in any category.

End of June? It's only the 26th.

Please, don't rush the end of the month.

RE: An update

All,
When we were asked this question at the meet and greet I told the group that we still targeting to fix this in June. So here is the update. We believe we have a fix for the income share and hits problems that were caused by the catalog migration in November. We're currently testing it and expect to have the fix out with the June Income share. We do not expect that Income Share will be out next week but rather the following week. After the fix is released you should see the hits on the reviews with /review/ format.

Re: /review/ format
This new url format is going to be more and more common as we migrate more categories to the shopping.com catalog. We do not expect to have these problems going forward with other categories.

Thanks,
Yoel

First, Yoel, thank you for the update and for the good news.

Your response does raise a question of whether the fix will initially only show the hits going forward or also some of the past hits the counter missed? If it is the latter will these show in our profiles and will they show in the month they were originally accrued?

Cool! I appreciate the answer and I'm glad that it's still coming out. I look forward to seeing the fix!

The exact same questions I was wondering about... It would be interesting to see 'real' totals from the missing months...

Inspite of my joking earlier, I do appreciate the serious and MH update, Yoel. Thanks.

I don't know if we should expect any "real" totals from the missing months, due to the fact that if our reviews were not actually seen by anyone, we therefore would not have any hits.

It would be nice though to find out if we actually did have hits that were not counted. That would be sweet!

I'm not counting on that happening though.

I don't have my hopes up too high myself, I'd easily settle with it simply being fixed....

From Yoel's post, it isn't clear that our reviews weren't seen by anyone on the outside, but that they weren't reported to us that they had.

In terms of back IS, it's a moot point since IS was distributed and there isn't any more to give.

I'd just be happy to see the lights go back on the reviews that went dark on and after Black Tuesday and pick up from there.

I'm pretty sure the reviews were being seen. There was evidence of visitors going there from various sites plus the reviews themselves were showing up in google results without using "epinions" so I think they have been getting hits.

I checked exactly this a few days ago with a /review/ of mine. A Google search found the review with no problem, and high up on the list of results. I sure do miss those hits, though...

I second what Bob said. I Googled a few reviews with /review/ in it and saw that it was at the top of the search page. Things seem to be looking up and looks like the hits will follow soon.

Except my WWE reviews. They'll stay where they are. 30/30. I can predict the hit count for them before I write them.
