Writing for Charity ...redux || July 2008

...
OK. I said I was not going to do this again. And actually I am not, going to shepherd the thread I mean.

But once again I will shoot for ten reviews, hopefully ten 'VH' reviews and another $20 donation for a charity.

While meagandowney's pinned post in this forum is a great idea and a fitting historical record; I believe an active, dynamic thread will generate more response and participation.

So this thread is that 'active, dynamic thread'. I actively challenge each of you to consider 'writing for charity' and to consider making some of your 'benefit' be magnified within your own local communities for the benefit of those who need more and have less.

So jump in. Make a commitment, write your little fingers off until they are bloody, little stumps. Have some fun here and bring some joy to your own heart and to those you are able to help by participating here.

But no 'listing' by me this time. Update as you like for yourself and to challenge and encourage others as you like.

I look forward to many others joining in once again...

Bumped for the first of ten published last evening.

I refuse to let this fall so quickly off the first page.

You all are invited to participate and help keep it active. H3ll, previous 10-4-whatever review threads have gone hundreds of posts.

That was why I wanted to pin something. But that's o.k. I'll let that one fall off the page, but I would like to humbly request that participants make an effort to link to their cause's home page. I took the time to find the home pages for people who posted without links because it's powerful to see all of the charities that benefit from our efforts and a great way for members to learn about new causes.

Meagan

hey there maddog...

The 'pin' idea was 'very helpful'. As a record. (I think it still retains value pinned, but your call. I did not intend to detract from your efforts to collect the links, my apology for that flummoxed coordination/communication.)

But as an active reminder/marker of the actual activity . . .it dont work.

As has been suggested time and again, pinned threads are ignored. As evidenced by the 'Views' count on the pinned thread.

Hope your new job is all that you wanted it to be, and more.

RE: Writing for Charity ...redux || July 2008

Thanks, Tom. Since you kindly linked to it in this official thread, I hope people will see it. Maybe I can add to it in July?

I have been biting my tongue about the charity I will donate to because I'm torn! I do want to participate though and will. Initially, I tried to find a charity that served internet addicts, but had trouble finding a real/good one. I have a few others in the running though.

Thanks for the good thoughts on my job. I'm definitely hitting the ground running, but I love a worthwhile challenge.

Best wishes to everyone in the July Writing for Charity Challenge. I'm going to post a thread about it in the Announcements board too, just because I'm a glutton for punishment. :)

Meagan

Bump and a reminder...

...
After the long holiday and celebratory weekend (for the USofA members anyway) I am sure many users are checking back onto the site and the boards.

A bump to note my second of a projected 10 for July and for charity. And a repeated invitation for any and all to join in to help make your own 'real world' a better place.

Besides ...maddog and I are getting lonely in here . . ..
