Barbara (ifif1938)

I'm sure most of you reading this thread know Barbara. I've always thought of her as a very kind, sweet woman, who always has a nice compliment to share with everyone. I even had the pleasure of meeting her and her lovely husband last year, at the Miami meet-n-greet.

I'm sorry to bring such sad news regarding our friend... Sadly, she has been diagnosed with a rather aggressive form of cancer, affecting her lungs and her bones.

I have been in touch with Barbara's husband Irving, and he has asked me to share the following words with Barbara's Epinions friends:

Barbara has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer which has been found in the lung and bone areas. She has been admitted to a very fine hospital which has some of the best medical care in the country and has a great team which is doing their best to help in this difficult situation. She has a great and loving family which is being as supportive as we can be during this difficult time. She really loves all of her Epinions friends and any positive support would be appreciated.

If anyone would like to leave get-well wishes here, Irving will be printing them, and bringing them to Barbara to read while she is in the hospital.

Keeping fingers crossed, for Barbara's recovery,

Mona

Ditto your thoughts above Mona.

In both describing the 'kind, sweet woman' we have all come to know and love ... and the fingers crossed (and prayers as appropriate) for her ongoing recovery.

Dear Barbara,

I have missed you here at Epinions, and am sorry to read your news. You are a lovely lady with a passion for living and I know this will serve you well through this difficult time. No doubt you will be supported by loving family and friends, but count on me too, to be thinking of you and sending prayers your way. It was kind of Mona to notify the community and I'm hoping she will continue to update us with your progress.

Hugs,

Megan

RE: Barbara (ifif1938)

Thank you so much for checking up with Barbara's husband. I just posted a message to her a couple days ago, as I was wondering about her after she talked about all those medical tests.

Barbara,

I hope you pull through this quickly. You are an incredible friend and writer. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thinking of you Barbara and wishing it will be a speedy recovery.

Hang in there and think positive. I know you have many friends here that will be thinking about you with best wishes for you so don't think about Epinions at this time but focus on your well being and health.

Barbara

is tops. A thread is nice, but the tapestry of a French writeoff in her honor seems fitting. I guess that means I'm volunteering to host it...

Wow, so many words could be written here, but I will keep them for when you are back with us. Until then just know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing the Best and Looking Forward to that review.

I would like to share a Barbara story. Listen up Barbara...this was so YOU.

Barbara and I spoke via Email last week. She shared the information about her condition noting it was very, very painful and added she was going to tell a handful of close friends on the site that she would not be around Epinions much in the coming months.

She also said, "I have one review half written I may post if I get my head together. ;)."

Barbara, that's just like you! Through your pain, and everything else you must have been going through last Sunday you still had a review and your Epinion friends on your mind!

Do know that prayers and best wishes are coming your way and the love you share with this community will be returned to you many times over.

Barbara, you are a very special person here and will be missed in the coming months. I look forward to reading that unfinished review and I'm sure it will garner an MH or twenty.

We will party upon your return!!

Phil

RE: Barbara (ifif1938)

Barbara,

I can not put myself in the place you are now, only in the place your family is. I sense from your Internet personality a fighter who will take every opportunity to get better and work with the doctors for your best outcome.

I believe completely in the power of prayer and I will add you and your family to those I pray for. God's strength is awesome and his power to heal both the body and the mind without parallel.

He will guide the doctor's to do their best and give you and your family the strength to endure. This I know.

Get well and come back to us.

Larry

Know that you are in our prayers....

...you are a class act, my friend. I was so very saddened to hear the news. I just lost my mother to Amelonic Malignant Melanoma. Mother was a cancer survivor already; she lived 25 years after being diagnosed with Cystosarcoma Phylloides. It can be fought. Choose your people carefully, and do not be afraid to fire a doctor who is not totally dedicated to following your wishes.

You are in my prayers; I appreciated your prayers for my mother, it seems the least I can do.

Much love,

Talyseon.

Barbara...

I always enjoy reading your comments on my reviews, especially since I've been in Germany. You definitely make Epinions a warmer, friendlier place. I'm very sorry to read about your diagnosis. I'm sending warm thoughts and good vibes to you and your husband during this time. Get well soon.

All the best,

Jenny

RE: Know that you are in our prayers....

It would seem remiss if I didn't post here. I have had a rough six months and was amazed at the number of people that emailed me and posted on my "I'm Not Dead" thread. A lot of people prayed for me and even though I am not all that religious I do beleive that they helped me. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts and hope you will make a full recovery.

Someone came into my ICU room and said, "With faith, anything is possible". I have no idea who that person was or if I was just so out of it that I imagined it ... but it was something that got me through some really dark times.

Barbara,
As I told you recently, I believe you are one of the nicest people on Epinions, and the site isn't the same without your presence.

Hopefully you are getting the best treatment for your condition, including pain control.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Barbara

You are absolutely one of my favorite people here at Epinions. Your kindness and good nature never fail to make this a warmer, more welcoming place.

Veronica and I have you in our prayers and fully expect to be joining with you and yours, Mona and hers for that dinner we are always talking about.

Warmest regards,

Rudi
