Most likely a dumb question
I see some people have pictures or animations on their profile pages. Not the profile pic themselves but the backgrounds. How do I place one in? I checked out the update profile section but didn't see anything about how to do that.
Thank you

Go to Edit Profile. In your Main body block type something like this:
body background= http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n269/shopaholic_man/shopskyline.jpg
Place a greater than and less than symbol at the ends. I can't do it here, because it generates an unacceptable markup code warning.
Replace my http photobucket address with the address of your own background photo. Photobucket for example will store your photos and has each photo named.
When I update my photo, I just change out the name of the photo since the photobucket addy stays the same.
Other members may suggest some other photo storage spots.
Hope that helps!
btw, do you have an Alaskan Husky? Never owned one myself, but they are a beautiful dog. Your profile photo looks like a Husky. |

RE: Most likely a dumb question
If you right-click on any profile page and choose "view source" you can search the html code and figure out how people do the tricks that they do. |

Want some free advice?
Don't do it!
Nobody wants to look at giant photos plastered all over your background (no offense, shopaholic_dude) because they are distracting to the eye and actually make your content harder to see.
Busy backgrounds have been the bane of websites going back to the early days of GeoCities. |

I am going to shock the Epi-world . . .by agreeing with phungus.
Do not do it.
Or at least keep it very simple and very subdued. ladyconsumer's simple background is a good example. Just pointing out an appropriate example easily available in this thread.

RE: Most likely a dumb question
Awwww..... I'm touched. Thank you!
I LIKE background images, but only when they don't cover the stuff we're supposed to be able to see. In other words, if they only cover the sides of the page, and leave the middle easily readable, I'm happy. But some make it nearly impossible to read the words in the middle of the page, and I'm really not sure why people would choose such backgrounds! |

Hey thank you all for the advice. I did chose to snatch up a background over all though. I picked some thing light but nice too, let me know what you think. Thanks again

Perfect! It's subtle, and doesn't interfere with the "good stuff" at all. Nice job!

Thank you Mona. I was hoping it wouldn't be bothersome. I kind of like it. It reminds me of a comfortable sheet lol.

I agree! I have scratched my head over that one time and time again. Like you, I just don't get it.

I've wondered that too. And how they even get the background to cover the section where the reviews are listed. I didn't think that was even possible with how Epinions has the stuff set up.

Yes, very nice. I like the way it complements your eyes.

Ha nice. But how well does it compliment the fur? That is what counts most.
