Love for Toiletoctopus

For those who haven't heard, Mike/toiletoctopus's five year old son, Tommy died this week, from seizures related to his Angelman Syndrome.

If anyone wants to express their sympathies with our eight-legged friend, I'm sure he'd appreciate it. More than anything, Mike said he would appreciate prayers for all people with Angelman's Syndrome and their families. He says he is thankful for the time he got to share with Tommy.

More about Angelman's Syndrome can be learned at www.angelman.org

.
Wow.

No, I had not heard. Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps as a group we could find a way to share more than just prayers. I know in the past we, as writers, have pledged IS for a certain month or group of reviews to a charity for this reason or that. Perhaps a similar effort might fund a remembrance in his son's name to a suitable charity.

Wow. Sad news indeed.

No, I hadn't heard. I can't imagine the pain of such a loss. My prayers do go out to Mike and his family in this most difficult time.

This is extremely sad news. I've lost a mother to cancer, and that is difficult, but I cannot even imagine loosing ones child. I think doing something as a community to remember Tommy and help with angelman syndrome research, like Sleeper54 is suggesting is a good idea.

RE: Love for Toiletoctopus

It would be nice to have another month with a charity write-off where the funds could go to this foundation, like there was earlier in the year and one of the charities selected was related to Barbara. If TPTB at Epinions have been toying with the idea of another charity write-off, I suggest this one.

Mike has a Facebook page as well where you can express condolences and he has some pictures up of his son. Losing a child has to be one of the hardest things someone can go through in life...

RE: Love for Toiletoctopus

Mike,

Often our conversations are pretty silly in nature. This is the first time I have had anything serious to say to you. I can not imagine what you are going through, I can however, put myself in your shoes having children the same age. I feel your pain. I could say that your son is at peace and healed now. Yet I know that doesn't make anything better at this point. I only hope that time will ease your pain. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And know that you have many shoulders here to lean on should you need it.

I know that nothing we can say will make you feel better right now. But I do hope that by the many prayers written here, that you will see that we are here for you and wish you nothing but peace and comfort in your time of need. You are a huge part of this community, like family and we feel for you very much. Let us know if you need anything at all.

~Michelle
