This is kind of a question to Damon and an idea for general discussion...
I was wondering if Epinions were planning on implementing the Google "+1" button on the site? It might help the site / individual reviews get better search rankings on Google, which would then hopefully translate into getting our page views back up to the levels they were before the drop.
Just an idea, but it should be easy to implement and could have a moderate impact on visitor numbers over time.

RE: +1
Like I wrote before, the +1 button was taking 1-2 seconds to load, which was killing page performance (on every page).
Perhaps once we've fixed all the gremlins with the redesign, we'll add it back.

RE: +1
It was up the other day. I tried it, but all it really did was send me to Google to register an account. Then it wanted me to give up my address book (albeit, at least it asked). I registered, but I didn't feel comfortable giving up my contacts. I thought it would help my review rise to the top of searches; Facebook and Twitter are enough to reach contacts.
So, what does it really do????? |

It will move you up IF you already have a social networking presence. |

I'm signed up in several places, but I rarely go to any of them. I'll spend an hour or so a month on Facebook when I find out that someone in my family chose that route instead of calling me. (I guess phone calls are going the way of the handwritten letter.) |
