Home and Garden

Add this to the list:

In H&G reviews in Coffee and Expresso Makers don't show badges. They also don't show up if rated by H&G Advisor as review just rated.

Cell phones

If you go to Cell Phones | Manufacturer | Motorola

the RAZR is not listed. I ran the search twice and listed all cell phones and CNTRL-F'ed on RAZR. Nothing.

But if you search in Electronics for RAZR you get a listing. I guess this qualifies as one of the search bugs?

My guess is because of it's location within the listings. I noticed when I picked the first RAZR from the search in Electronics, the little tree goes "Home | Electronics | Cellular Phones." So maybe it's listed as far as Cellular Phones, but never got so specific as to be identified with Motorola when searched.

But in truth, the search can be wonky sometimes. I've recenly discovered about 20 or so books that I couldn't find with a search, but by typing in the title and author into the address bar (in a similar format for other books), I came up with them. It was weird. So yeah, sometimes you'll see it, sometimes you won't. *shrug*

Ratings not sticking

First of all I don't think I've mentioned how much I like the "show reviews not rated" feature.

I went to the sporting goods section and there was a whole page going back over a week that said I hadn't rated them. Considering I r/r daily (almost) I would question whether that is a bug? Is it happening to others? If not I will report it? Thanks. jo

Jo -

I think that this relates to reports by other members who've said that their hit counts on individual reviews have not been updating (though the total hit count keeps working)

My guess is that there is something in the ratings system that is not updating, and so rates that you have already given are not yet "officially" recorded

Okay, I know this one got fixed (or did I just imagine it) but I am seeing that bug has reared its ugly little head again.

Question marks in my reviews

I got a new computer. I love it. Is it the reason though that all my reviews have question marks where the ' is? When I write in Word I use Mobi's code but when I paste it here it converts the code to a ? mark. Thoughts, advice? jo

PS. I can't possibly go back and use the code for 1100++ reviews so hopefully there is another answer.

Also (I am editing this.) I just read a few reviews that have upside down question marks in them including in the title. Am I just seeing things? Is it my computer? What is happening? Again thanks.

RE: Question marks in my reviews

Jo - it's just not your computer. I have several reviews from 2000-2003 that have upside down question marks in them. Like you - I don't think I want to go back in and edit them!

Comment box not checked

I went to a review that is only about 4 months old and saw that the comment box wasn't checked. I know we had that problem a long time ago but just to give you a heads up. jo

Is this a bug?

I just tried to sign in and my account had been deactivated. The reason given was that I hadn't signed in for 4 months. However, I wrote a review on June 19th and was able to find it posted & everything. That's less than 3 months ago. I couldn't find anywhere else to ask about this or let someone know that it happened, so I'm posting here!

Yes, it certainly could be a bug. Try reporting it at: http://www.epinions.com/feedback/?show=bugs_missing

After you report it, give it a day or two to get straightened out.

"Moved" Movies not found in Read Reviews

Is this a known bug? I wrote my first movie review, and accidentally filed it for the title in DVDs instead of a MOVIE IN THEATRES.

When I noticed my mistake, I moved my review to the appropriate MOVIE IN THEATRE.

However, now it's not showing up under "new movie reviews in theatres".

Also, when you click on "Read Reviews" it is not one of the 20 reviews showing up for this movie.

I noticed that the URL for my review is different looking than the URL for all the other movie reviews for this movie. My URL has the movie title in it and the other ones just have the "Content" number but not the title in it.

Any ideas? I did submit a bug report.

Thanks, Jennifer

Dead links and self referencing web pages

I found a few more bugs, however, I would like to report a strange one. (report bugs does not seem to work by the way)

Dead links and self referencing web pages

I added a review for a product and the link for the review is dead (broken). If you click on the link for the review you get a "sorry the page cannot be found" type of message. Even more interesting, after I added the review you could not view the product page either. If you click on the link for the product you will get a search result page instead of a product page, which in turn links to the product (at the bottom). However, if you click on the product link you will get back to the search result page which you started from (self-referencing). Even though I added the review I cannot edit, view or delete the review, so it hangs around on my profile and in other places and it is inaccessible to all.

This is worse then reviews not showing up, this is reviews messing up the web site with dead links and self referencing pages. It also messes up my profile to have this mess there. This is very strange.

Unwanted Bold-Face Type

I just thought I'd quickly point out that my recent review of Windows 7 at first had significant portions that were stuck in bold print, no matter how many times I went back and tried to correct it, including manually removing the html tags. I thought it was merely a delayed update, but it looked the same, almost 24 hours later. Anyone else experienced this?

UPDATE--I double-checked the html code and was able to correct it. Weird, though..!
