Today was the first day under $2.00 in Central Illinois. This afternoon I bought $1.99/gallon gas.

$2.35 at the Costco by San Francisco Airport on Tues. (11/4).

That's lower than it was a year ago. SHOCKING!

Some brand name stations (Shell and Chevron) near the airport were charging a full $1 more!

WV

$2.35 in Southern West Virginia.

I can't believe it's below $2 in some places.

$2.19 at Costco in Boulder County, CO (plus let's not forget the 3% rebate with Amex).

Here in Colorado I also will get gas at Safeway. They have a rewards program so once or twice a quarter I'll cash out my reward. It's been about 50 cents a gallon. They're about 10-15 cents more a gallon than Costco, but with a discount like that it's pretty sweet.

It was $1.99 at a few different stations here - southeastern Ohio - today. This is the lowest it has been in years.

I can't believe Seattle is higher than San Francisco. $2.39 at Costco and $2.49 at Safeway, which comes out to $2.39 once you factor in my 10 cent discount. That's still two full dollars less than it was on my daughter's first day of kindergarten in September. Yowza!

gas

$2.27 in Park County, Wyoming :P...some areas of the state are below $2 now, I think we're just too close to Yellowstone for it to come down that fast though.

I'm starting to see it at about $2.30 in W. Broward, and about 2.45 in Palm Beach County.

RE: Shocking

Last weekend, I saw it at $2.09 at both a Costco and a Sheetz store, and it's got to be cheaper now. Yes indeed... enjoy it while it lasts.

Gee, then the $1.85 I've been seeing all around Kansas City is even better than I thought! Heck, I might even fill up the lawn mower too!

If you go to Mapquest.com and click the "Gas Prices" icon, it tell you what gas prices are at all stations around your area, and also shows you the highest and lowest gas prices in the country.

At this moment, the lowest price is $1.65, in Kentucky. Followed by $1.67 in Houstin, Texas, and Montana.

Diana,
still paying about $2.60 just North of New York City

Hmmm. Perhaps a good place to have an early strongly opinionated thought here in the lounge.

The fact that crude oil and retail gas prices have precipitously dropped while food prices have remained high is an indication that the use of grain (corn in particular) for ethanol production is not the basic cause of increased food prices over the last year.

Instead, color that idea as one fabricated by those who favor our dependence on oil and trying to create a boogeyman to divert attention and support from alternative resources.

RE: Gas Prices where you live

There are down to $2.50 or so in north Los Angeles county. Didn't pay much attention last night as I was driving home.

As to food prices not coming down, that doesn't surprise me for two reasons.

1) Some places might be trying to make up for loses earlier in the year when food prices didn't rise fast enough to match shipping expenses.

2) My real theory is that people figured out we'd be willing to pay this much for our food, so why drop the prices? This way, they can make more money while all our focus is on the evil gas companies.

No, I'm not synical at all, why do you ask?

yep- due to the cost of shipping, and seeing as how all produce gets shipped here from somewhere else- I can understand the prices.
