DirecTV experience...

I recently subscribed to DirecTV due to there assurance that I could get the Phila.Flyers Hockey games on CSN.

After the installation I tried to get the CSN channel but all the channels were from other areas and not available in this ( Phila )area.

I was misled and called to cancell the service within 6 hours of the installation. I was told after the fact that DirecTV can not get the Flyers games and I was misled by the sales person. I was assured that I could cancell the service for any reason with no prepayment penalties if the system didn't function as advertised.

This is where the fun started..

I was told that I would be charged a $20.00 month cancellation fee for 24 months, I was charged a $104 installation and programming fee that was supposed to be free.

I was told the additional HD recorder I purchased from DirecTV for $200.00 was not mine and was only a lease after I was told it would be mine. Even though it was never used and all the equipment was returned, I was still charged the full price.

This company promises you everything, but the sales people lie to make the sale! Get everything in writing and get the name and badge number of the person you talk too!

I have contacted the Pa Attorney Generals office to complain and would appreciate being advised of any other remedies that I may have.

I ordered Direct TV due to a promotion through Costco.First I was told that they are very "busy". Hence they could not come in the afternoon when I can take time off to be at home. Second, someone will call from Direct TV on their way.
On the day of installation, I waited all day. no one showed up as promised till 12 noon.I contacted Costco. After several phone calls I was told that someone will call from Direct TV to give a time of arrival.Till 4:55 PM no one called. I called Costco once again. They somehow managed to get to direct TV. I was told that the installer could not find our home!These guys must out right stupid or from Mars.They could have used an invention called cell phone.I have written two complaints to Costco (who by the way takes pride in its products and services). I am told that Walmart is getting seriously into the electronic sales business. This will create even more competition.
If you are considering Direct TV you will have to think twice. Is this the company you want to do business with? If they cannot fulfill their commitment at the start, what would happen AFTER they install the antenna and you start to have problems after one month?
Moral of the story:1. Costco is just packaging the merchandise. They do not give any assurance about the quality.
2.Direct TV stinks right from the start.

We have encountered the same difficulties with installation/service on more than one occassion. Once they couldn't find the house and never showed up. The next time they never showed up on the scheduled date (although we were told on the phone that the tech was at our house -- certainly was not), because their truck supposedly broke down. Rescheduled and then they subsequently cancelled that appointment. The customer service representatives at Direct TV are extremely unprofessional and rude. Once they lose their exclusive rights to the NFL package I suspect they will go out of business. Buyer beware before you commit to a lengthy contract that is costly to cancel!
