Problem with two modules interfacing

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, nor am I certain I can make sense of my question. I'll try.

My Pioneer Intelligent Stereo Receiver, VSX6045, has a GUI feature that I used to use to balance the speakers, etc., with an onscreen menu. (we switch it to VCR & get stereo from TV, switch to laser disc to play DVD's) I think you get the idea.

The GUI used to work perfectly with my Old RCA TV which had an AUX feature so I'd get the onscreen menu.

But now I have a Panasonic TV and I cannot get the GUI menu onscreen to save me. The Panasonic plays the TV on 4, the DVD's on 2, and has two other settings 1&3 for input, but the GUI will not show up on any of these.

My TV is hooked to a cable box and plays through my VCR.

Any suggestions - the GUI is useless as it stands now. We didn't change any of our connections except for adding the DVD player and the new TV.

thanks,

Lorace

RE: Problem with two modules interfacing

Well, for the life of me I cannot find any info for that reciever except some russian, italian, and german sites, and even then, no pics.

Ideally, unless you want to switch to a discrete screen to see the GUI, which should be an overlay anyway, run all video from one lead. The gui shouldn't just conk out without some additional failure that you would most likely notice. Also, if there isn't a dedicated rca output than video would have to go through the monitor out (or w/e your might be called) connection.

In some cases it is possible that if the gui is an option, the receiver may have reset and you may have to switch it on again. If the gui is the ONLY interface, that is unlikely.

without seeing pics or seeing a connection schematic, it's tough to diagnose. Worst case scenario, you disconnect everything and start with a single video input to your TV to establish the menu and build from there.

RE: Problem with two modules interfacing

I apologize for not getting back to this sooner.

I want to thank you for your reply. I still haven't found the solution and realize that, probably, contacting Pioneer about this problem would be the best thing.

Thanks. You gave me much to think about.

Lorace
