RE: Why are people still purchasing the Dynasty Warriors games?

It seems like we all have our franchises that don't make sense to us. I have Pokemon. You have Dynasty Warriors. People continue to buy Pokemon to go along with the catchphrase "Gotta catch 'em all!" People continue to buy these Dynasty Warriors games, obviously, because they give you a massive battlefield full of ancient Chinese warriors and warlords to combat with and against. In the midst of hectic confrontations, you get to battle dozens if not hundreds of enemies at once (which I think there actually is hundreds on the screen at one time). I've never played a Dynasty Warriors game myself since I'm not interested in the games. But you could check them out for yourself and get a taste to see why others' enjoy them so much if you haven't done so already.

My favorite is when some gamers likes to insult people who play modern sports games, citing the fact that "it's only a roster update", yet they themselves play Pokemon.

If you extend it to sports games, I suppose what attracts me are the different gameplay tweaks. I'm constantly searching for the most realistic sports game out there. That and I like ones that are really fun as well. Even though there aren't many features added to sports games year after year, I get a lot of enjoyment out of the gameplay tweaks, and even the minor additions to see what's done. Does it make complete sense? Of course not. I mean, many of these games sell for $50 and then for only 1/5th as much only a few months later. I honestly wish some of these games would just provide only roster updates through 2 years, then release a game with lots of bugfixes, gameplay tweaks and feature upgrades.

That's not what I meant. I like the video games (just not the show and the cards) but I have only one out of the series. Take the Gamecube Pokemon for example. There are about 2-3 versions of it .Is each dramatically different? No, just a different storyline and a few new Pokemon. Is that reason enough to drop $60 for the new one. No. In my opinion it isn't.

Seriousely, why are people still purchasing the Dynasty Warriors games. It really annoys me seeing that they make you pay another 40-50 dollars for a couple new characters and new maps. Nothing ever changes during the series. Thoughts...

There was noticable improvement in the Dynasty Warrior series. The maps were more complicated and featured elevations and other things as opposed to being a big flat space. You also had more generals to fight. I think they made the most out of the series.

Higher elevations and a few more generals doesn't count as a "dramatic improvement" for me though.

Then....don't buy the game!
