I need advice...
Ok so part of this will be OT...
I have been assigned an article which I have been putting off and it's due like ummm next week. Urgh. Problem is, I'm not a gadget person, and it is supose to be the Top 5 gadgets for Teens.
I'm asking for input here because you all are sOOOO up on everything, and I think one of them should be a portable game thingy anyway...
I got nuthin, man... except the Nano. Help. and ummm links to info on the items would be helpful. Ohj.

RE: I need advice...
I guarantee you this will turn into a big ol argument after about 10 posts....
When you say gadget, I think of things that are handheld. so I'll keep my list there
If you want to go the iPod route, then a Nano is good, though there are some better MP3 players out there.
Nintendo DS Lite
Motorola RAZR or SLVR phone
geez, I'm drawing a blank. Maybe it's because I'm too far away from being a teen. Dang it

I'm a teen, so I should be able to help. First, a PSP by far. Very popular with teens. I mean, like god status.
Next is an Ipod Nano. Trendy with us. Thrid would be a cell phone. Camera phones are best (don't know any models, vary alot). The rest, I dunno. Hope this helps. |

RE: I need advice...
The new Otterbox waterproof iPod case looks pretty interesting. Teens could take that with them during this summer's swimming season.
The DS Lite and PSP of course are also big for gearheads on the gaming end of the stick.
I'm not big on cellphones, but I saw this commercial just the other day for this one cellphone that's slogan is something along the lines like, "Don't call it a cellphone." Its name starts with "H" is all I can remember.
If you need any ideas about gear, Doc, you can head to IGN's website that specifically deals in knickknacks and doodads of all sorts:

Helio
Helio is the thing that CK is thinking of. Yeah, definately look into that. The main thing is that it has MySpace Mobile.
I guess it depends on what is considered a "gadget". Are we talking just handheld stuff? Or can you put a laptop or XBox 360 on the list? Does it have to be hardware? Right now the most indispenible "gadget" for teens is MySpace. |

Top five?
What do you mean by top five? Top five could be top five best, top five most popular, top five most useful, most wanted, etc.? If I had a little more information, I may be able to help.
I'm guessing you are talking about most popular and my list would be would be:
1. Ipod
2. Slvr or Razr phone
3. Slvr or Razr phone
4. PSP or xbox 360
5. PSP or xbox 360
Obviously 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 aren't sorted because you would have to do some research to find out which has been best selling recently. |

RE: Top five?
Top 5 is anything I decide to make it. heh.
Popular is a good way to go I think... but also I want cost-effective and affordable.
Hand-held is a definate.
Thanks mucho again!

RE: Top five?
for iPods, the Nano is probably the best choice, as it's a little less pricey than the hard drive based iPods.
For phones, also look at the PEBL and ROKR.
The PSP is losing the handheld wars, but still gets points for style. The UMD format is just a step away from being Betamax, especially for movies, with target announcing they won't carry UMD movies anymore. Still, the thing looks slick and has a gorgeous display. It would be worth mentioning the lack of support it's getting if you put it on the list.
If this list is for parents buying gadgets for their teens, here an interesting one: there are devices that will plug into an information port on all modern cars that record a variety of data, including, for example, distance and speed. I can get a few links for you if it's something germane. |

Nope. A list for the kids themselves... but I can sure use the other info you gave me ;)
