Whirlpool Duet washer F20 code

We just bought a new Whirlpool Duet Washer and dryer from Best buy to put in a new laundry room in our house. During our first cycle we got an F20 code stating "No water or Insufficient water supply". Checked the lines and inlet screens and there seems to be a good water stream from each line but the F20 shows up regardless of what cycle we try to run in hot, cold or warm water. The frustration continues when we contact Whirlpool and they say no help available for a week. Any thoughts?

This probably won't help you but it sounds like a problem inside the washer. There could be a clog in an internal water line or possibly a kinked internal hose. Or it's just broken. Either way, it sounds like the problem is inside the washer and needs to be fixed by a technician.

If you just got this washer and it has not worked right from the get-go, I'd call the store back and insist on either a replacement or a technician visit immediately. The squeaky wheel gets the grease... you just spent upwards of $1,000 and can't use the washer. Make sure the store understands this.

Good luck!

RE: Whirlpool Duet washer F20 code

we just got the duet today and are having the same f20 problem. we are calling lowe's right now to see if they can help. did you end up getting yours fixed?

lowe's sent us to a whirlpool rep who said they couldn't get anybody out for a week. we told them we would return it and they are sending someone out tomorrow.

F20 code on brand new Whirlpool Duet washer

I just had my Whirlpool Duet washer installed and I am getting the F20 code for insufficient water, I checked hoses ect and I see water going into the washer but not at a high pressure, all valves are wide open , no tech can come soon and I have laundry to do, any suggestions? Do you have to have high water pressure at your house to use one of these washers?

RE: F20 code on brand new Whirlpool Duet washer

Just had the same problem, right out of the box. I had the water company out to check my pressure. Not the problem.

The A & E tech came on Tuesday, ordered a new valve. Came back today and installed it. Everything is working fine now.

Here is my suggestion. Mine didn't work on Hot, but when the Tech selected Cold, it worked fine. So, try changing the temperature and see if it works. If it does, then you will probably need the same valve I did. It took less than 5 minutes to install. It was Whirlpool part number 8540751.

Same problem F20

I bought my Duet about 1.5 months ago. It ran fine and I loved it. Until last week, it suddent gave this F20 error. I did what menu said.. check the water inlets and etc... and still not working.. But, waited after I got home from work, it was ok again...

Well.. It happened all day the past Sat and really upset me.. I called BestBuy back. The Tech came yesterday and said it was all fine.. he ran in three temperatures and didn't let it finished the cycles.. he left and said "the valve might have problem .. but.. it runs fine".

Sure enough, I tried to do laundery again this morning.. it WASN'T working... I called BuestBuy back and very upset.. Now.. I have to wait until the parts get ordered (it was NOT in system when I called... so, they have to locate the TECH and confirm...) and another Tech visit..

If Whirlpool has so many problems with this F20, shouldn't they just re-call this?

whirlpool duet f20 error

i love my washer but a recall doesn't sound like a bad idea. i posted earlier a few days after we got it, had the tech out. all of a sudden it started working. then luckily it did error for him several times. he gave me some pointers. make sure there isn't anything clogged in the rubber gasket thing by the door and always use a mesh laundry bag for smaller items. you can check the filter at the bottom of the machine and also sometimes items will get clogged near/in soap dispenser (although that type of problem would cause leaking and a different error code)

anyway it is giving me the error code again... and we checked all the hot spots the guy showed me.... have to call for service again.... then return it to lowe's if it keeps doing it.

Fault Code 20 Wpool duet

We recently had a water main broken in our area and the house was drained of water - all pipes were full of air. Toilets belched, faucets spewed air and water. Several days later we tried to run a load of wash and the dread F20 flashed on and off. Powered off the washer at the breaker and the machine reset and we started again. It failed again when next stage requiring water was initiated.
Reset a third time and it seems to be operating. Look to your hoses - they may loop high and if you use water from a nearby bib it may be possible to introduce air in the lines though it seems pretty far fetched.

RE: Fault Code 20 Wpool duet

I'm hoping this part is my problem. I began receiving the F20 code two days ago, after over a year of good use. There is water in the basin, and the problem happens on any cycle (cold or hot). I checked the water inlet screens and they were slightly obscured. But cleaning them had no effect: the problem repeated itself on the next cycle.

Is this part hard to replace? Where is it located?

Thanks!

RE: Fault Code 20 Wpool duet

I replaced the part (it was easy enough to do: located right at the top, back left corner). But it had no effect: same F20 code a few minutes into cycle. Then I ran a quick wash cycle and it gave an F35 code. Hoping this will help me zero in on the actual problem. Or else I'm calling a repairman :(

You might want to try repairclinic.com. In addition to selling parts there are technicians you can discuss the problem with. I've found them helpful. Good luck.

Before calling service...check the drain

Our fix was WAY too easy. After looking on the net for possible causes...I gave in to the $$$repair$$$ man.

The washer is on a pedestal and the service dude said that height and length of discharge hose into a "standard" height wall box makes the tank siphon on the final spin.

We wound the drain hose around some of the clips on the back of the washer, decreasing the sag in the discharge hose to almost nothing and sure enough...4 loads and counting not a single F20.

Hope your fix is as easy.

RE: Before calling service...check the drain

This was a good suggestion. Just wound the drain hose around the clips as suggested and so far 1st load was successful. Waiting to see if we are as lucky with No. 2.

Same problem, no solution

Hi All,
having a similar F20 problem. I've replaced the Flowmeter, I've replaced the inlet valve, I've woven the hose around the clips, water pressure is good.... nothing helps, still the same F20 code. Anyone with ideas? I even tried the justanswers.com, paid their fee, but a tech couldn't answer the question. Please help?

RE: Same problem, no solution

I had the same problem, changed the filter screens, replaced the flowmeter, made sure the hoses were wide open and that the washer was level. I called Whirlpol and we thought it might be the pressure switch. (Originally what I had thought, but $70-$140.00)Did more research and found a post that said there was a tiny hole in the pressure switch hose-happens from the drum rubbing on the hose. I felt down the hose about a foot, and yes, it was worn. Checked more closely, and FOUND A PIN SIZE HOLE. YES, that was the problem. A little acrylic caulk and I have been happily doing laundry since. : )

My fix was somewhat simple

We have had our washer and dryer for over 4 years with no problems at all. We too received the F20 code but I could also hear something buzzing. After reading all of the posts I decided to take the front panel off to see what I could find. I removed the front panel under the door and cleared the filter. I had to slowly drain the tube by catching the three gallons of water that was in the system. There were several color catchers and other debris caught in the motor and filter that pumps the water out. Removed the gunk and all worked well. Informed my wife that we will no longer be using color catchers. She has taken that off the shopping list. And we lived happily ever after..........

RE: Same problem, no solution

if you have tried all of the things you say. Then the next thing would be the Analogue Pressure Switch Part # w1o156252
Have you tried to clean out the water pump.. Maybe the pump is not empy enough. And I've cleaned the pumps out many times and the washers worked well.

Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer F20 Error Code

After reading all of these post and doing what was said I was still getting the F20 Code. Then I looked at the Analog Pressure Switch located underneath the top cover in the back left corner of the washer next to the CCU and the rubber hose that was supposed to be connected to it was not there it had come loose. It must have come off during the spin cycle so all I did was fetch it from next to the drain hose and reconnect it and the Whirlpool is working well.

Whirlpool Duet washer F20 code

We were experiencing frequent F20 error messages on our Whirlpool Duet front loading washer. I purchased part number #W10110225 (Flowmeter) from AppliancePartsPros.com to see if that would do the trick. It has now been one month of frequent washing of clothes and NO MORE F20 ERROR. The part is very inexpensive and easy to replace.
