A question..

Hello there,

I have a curved staircase project for a somewhat high profile client. I am wondering for the tight radii. My question is: what is the best way to bend the cherry for small thin stock vs. larger cherry handrail and such? I am considering an anhydrous ammonia technique, or perhaps trying to shape in place.

One more thing, on closed curb stringers, using paperbacked veneer and Heat-Lock Iron activated adhesive is fine or not. I think there may be some better techniques.
I was searching the net with some keywords as 'stair parts', 'wood handrail' etc to find some good techniques.

Any suggestions will be appreciated..

RE: A question..

I don't have a clue on how to answer your questions, but you might want to search on "bending wood" or "wood bending techniques." Those ought to get you close to what you're looking for.
