Rain Soft EC4
I purchased a home with a well and had the water softener/filtration system which was Rain Soft checked immediately. The Rain Soft service tech said the system was outdated and needed to be replaced. I made the mistake of not doing any research and went with Rain Soft who installed an EC4 system with a limited lifetime warranty. This was in June of 2010. Since then I have received phonecalls from them every 2 weeks stating that I needed to get my yearly checks done. Finally when the year was up, a tech called to inform me that I needed to get my yearly check done which turns out to be 165 dollars. I told him that was too much money to which he replied he could have a smaller service check done for 55 dollars to which I agreed. The service tech came to my home and performed his check and charged me 165 dollars. I complained to him that I was told 55 dollars and he told me to sign the bill and contact the front office. So I signed (another stupid mistake), called the front office and was jerked around for 3 days and then told that I would have to pay the bill. The system is okay, probably no better or worse than any other, but the constant phone calls and 165 dollars every year is ridiculous. I will never go with Rain Soft again and strongly advise all to consider my story and do your research. Also, despite what the original phone tech said about getting the yearly service done to keep the warranty from being voided, the manager I complained to said that wasnt true and that Rain Soft "strongly recommends getting the yearly service done" just to keep the system running up to par.
Bottom line they constantly call for salt and service checks and they lie to you on the phone about warranty information and service charges... Be warned....
