Kenmore Elite HE3 washer seal shredded

We had the repair tech out yesterday to look at our washer and confirmed that the grey seal that puts the water into the machine had been completely shredded in more than 10 places. Some are bigger holes than others but it will cost $240 to get a new seal installed. Has anyone ever encountered this problem and what do you think should be the responsibility of Sears to acknowledge that this was faulty? We have also seen the tiny holes and shredding going on with our clothes. The tech thought that a zipper or some sharp edge on the clothes caused the problem, but how can we ensure that it does not happen once this gets fixed?

Kenmore HE series = JUNK

Good luck to you. We got ripped to the tune of over $2000 on our set of Kenmore HE JUNK. Will NEVER buy front loader again.

RE: Kenmore Elite HE3 washer seal shredded

Hi,

I just bought the Kenmore He4 Washer and Dryer at the end of March. The Washer gray seal has been shredding too, but in tiny little gray pieces! I notice it more after having the spin cycle on the highest. Three techs have been out all saying different things...that it's the detergent, that the washer wasn't level and one had no idea. We had the seal replaced, but after doing less than 10 loads, the seal is shredding again! I have to call Sears again today. I regret spending so much on this washer!

Rubber door gasket

I have had my door gasket fail 5 times in 4 years; twice it shredded and 3 times it popped out of its track. I had to purchase the warranty to keep th machine running. I believe there is a design flaw especially based on the posts and reviews on this site.

Washing machine door seal

We too have had this problem with the door seal shredding. Our HE2 is only two years old. A month ago, water began pouring out of the machine during a wash cycle. When I tried to order the seal (bellow) from Sears, I was told that Sears has changed the manufacturer of this item and the bellow has been on back order. I have been without a washing machine for over a month now, and am very disappointed with Sears lack of concern about the inconvenience this has caused my family.

RE: Washing machine door seal

Have you tried getting the seal from www.repairclinic.com

Their web site has a "part detective" where you indicate your make, model #, etc. and it will let you know if the part is available. I inputed the info for my Kenmore HE3 and it indicated they have the front bellow seal in stock for $89.45. Good luck.
