Suggest a product update!

Hi all

It looks like the Category Leads have regained their access to the Suggest A Product tools, meaning that we can start setting up new topics again in Hotels and Travel.

I've not checked everything yet, but destinations certainly seem to work. I'm taking it steady, checking as I go.

I'm sure Di and Kate have also built up quite a backlog of requests - please bear with us, it's going to take a few days before we have caught up...

If you have any queries or problems then drop a note here (o;

RE: Suggest a product update!

Just an update - setting up hotels are still a problem for us :o(

I'm hoping this big fix that Epinions are undertaking today might cure that little issue...

Just thought I would bring this up again.

I understand the CLs still cannot enter Hotels into the datbase.

I didn't check to see what Chris has on his SAP form Di has a message in big red letters stating

HOTEL ADDITIONS ARE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE BY EPINIONS. PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER IF YOU WANT TO ADD A HOTEL TO THE DATA BASE.

As of now I am writing the reviews of places I hope will be entered at some point. I prefer to write about a destination while it is still fresh in my mind and just store it away until its in the database. I haven't been burned yet.

Please note, we can't currently set up any Hotels as Epinions is working on the database. I'm storing up any requests and will get to them as soon as it's possible. Many apologies for any inconvenience!

Mine is in bold green letters lol

Thanks for the advice Phil - yes, I've not been told that there will be any new restrictions once the Hotel SAP tools are returned to us, so I'm hopeful that full service will be resumed once they get this bug fixed.

It's really frustrating writing stuff and not then being able to post the work though.

Garrett has said they are getting a couple of new engineers in at Epinions, so hopefully bugs like these won't take quite so long to fix in future.

Meanwhile, I'm still storing SAP requests and waiting... sigh

Hotel SAP's are back!!

Yey, great news team - Di and I can add hotels to the database again (o:

The bad news is that we both have quite a backlog of SAP's with towards 100 hotel requests outstanding in total.

The new SAP tool also doesn't seem to allow us to add as much information as we could before. You might find more information going into the title to make sure reviewers don't post off topic.

Please bear with us - it's gonna take us a while to catch up. You can send through new requests, but it's going to take a while...

Putting more words in the title sounds good but will it make our search engine more or less efficient.

Thanks for this update. I'm sure there are many hotel reviews about to start coming out.

RE: Hotel SAP's are back!!

Hey Phil

It would be impossible to make the search engines less efficient! lol

Seriously, we used to have "drop down" menus on our Suggest A Product for Hotels (for categories like country and state), but they didn't always seem to link to the search engine. With adding more info to the heading, I think the new products have a bit better chance of getting picked up.

At this stage I think our new "tool" is going to be less impressive than I was hoping for. However, at least we are back up and running!

Hotel SAPs might be back, but it seems like most of the Hotel DWEEBs aren't posting that much these days ;-)

RE: Hotel SAP's are back!!

Hey Mark,

Yes I agree, it seems to have been a quiet time for Epinions. I'm sure the continuing issues with hotels have put people off writing.

Just an update for everyone - Di has caught up with all her outstanding hotel suggestions, and I'm down to my last 10 or so. I'm hoping to have completely caught up over the next few days.

Chris
