I just spottted a news article originally published in the Washington Post (reprinted in my local paper) about on-line hotel reviews. The first site mentioned was Epinions! They even quoted a specific review on the site.
There were other websites mentioned too, as the article was about uncensored feedback on accommodations, which they termed 'refreshingly undiplomatic'.

The summary of the article stated the following about Epinions:
51,000 reviews. 28,000 properties. Thorough reviews, no reviews for many popular hotels.
Maybe this will attract some new traffic to the site! -Dave

Yeah - let's hope that that publicity pays off and more people start turning to the reviews on Epinions.

It's unfortunate that we're getting that kind of publicity at a time when so many embarassing database errors exist throughout the hotel categories....like reviews showing up under the wrong hotel names, reviews getting disassociated to their parent category, duplicate categories getting auto-created without copying over all the existing reviews, etc. etc. etc. (management seems to be aware of the problems in hotels, but it's evidently not a big priority to fix). :-(
