Suggest a product tool - broken
Hi guys,
Just a note to let you know that our SAP tool is broken (and has been since the site went screwy the other day).
I don't think it will be fixed before Tuesday.
Keep on sending through your SAP requests - we will store them and add them when we can.
I'll try & remember to update this message, once I get some news...
Thanks for bearing with us.

Suggest a product tool - update
Hi all
Thanks for your patience; looks like we are back in business.
I know I have quite a few SAP's to catch up, but I'll do my best to clear up before weekend.
Let Di or I know, if you spot any problems with any SAP's we create over the next couple of days.
I'm sure all will be fine, but it's always worth keeping an eye out for anything not quite right...

RE: Suggest a product -findable in database?
Is there any reason why so many items added by SAP are not showing up in the search engine? I've read through some of the explanations on the main board, but am still mystified. For example, why do travel reviews get ''turned off''? I'm reluctant to add more items to the database if they end up hidden from readers. -Dave |

RE: Suggest a product -findable in database?
Hi Dave
Yes, it's very frustrating when you can't find stuff on the search engine. One thing I've been doing more of is adding states and countries to the heading, in the hope the topic gets picked up in more places... not sure if it's making any difference, but it hopefully helps!
I understand the new search engine is going to be released soon, so we will have to hope that it gives us a good fix. Garrett also tells me that we are pretty high up the list for a tidy up of those strange mixed topics we spot from time to time.
I always feel that placed like Google generate most hits for us, so I tend to get a little worried and frustrated when reviews don't seem to get picked up there. My recent checking suggests that there isn't currently too much of a problem there, although we can be pretty far down the list...
As usual, with Epinions, it seems like a case of "things can only get better..."
Thanks for your query.

RE: Suggest a product -findable in database?
I find it is kind of random in Travel. Some SAP'd products are easily findable, some are not, there is really no way to tell how or why. I think it has little to do with the product name and more to do with what subcategory it happens to be under.
For example, you still can't find my SAP'd cruise on the
Carnival Glory from six months ago, but I can find my SAP'd Hershey's Chocolate World review from two weeks ago in a snap. I just keep having 'em added, because you never do know.
I just hope the new search engine doesn't somehow make things worse! |
