Tooth Fairy Help!
My oldest lost her two top teeth on Saturday, swallowing one, but the Tooth Fairy left $1 for each tooth. She lost another tonight and dropped the tooth. Since I will be quizzed on this, how does the Tooth Fairy know that she lost a tooth and why does she get paid for a lost tooth.
My husband wants to search for the tooth again tomorrow, perhaps leave a note telling our daughter to take another look for it. I just want to leave the dollar under her pillow and be done with it.
Any input?

OMG ME this cracks me up. My son asks the same kind of questions.
I answered the "how does the tooth fairy know" questions with the same as Santa Claus, because he knows when you're good and bad, so the tooth fairy knows when you loose a tooth. And the "why the money" thing, I just said because it's a special occasion. You only loose your teeth once, and it means you're a big "boy/girl" now.
In thinking about that answer, it seems stupid. William receives an allowance, because he contributes to keeping up the household by doing chores, but no other time does he just receive money (except when Grandma and Grandpa give it to him - rolling eyes).
I too would like a better reason for the money thing. Also, do people have other traditions related to loosing baby teeth. Good questions.

RE: Tooth Fairy Help!
Because I didn't have a dollar, my husband "won" and they are going to look for the tooth today. If they can't find it we will worry about it tonight.

William lost a tooth once too, and we just left the dollar. Fortunately, he never asked us about it, so we just left it at that. You left a dollar when she swallowed the tooth right? Can't you do the same now? Some people leave the tooth under the pillow, and the tooth fairy exchanges the tooth for a dollar... I was afraid William would fixate too much, and not fall a sleep, so we don't leave the teeth under the pillow.

RE: Tooth Fairy Help!
Well, Alex has so far only had 2 baby teeth fall out.
1) he swallowed
2) I said we'd leave it for the tooth fairy and get money.
He told me he didn't want the tooth fairy to come!
So... I just put his tooth in his baby box in a ziploc with the date and we don't have to do the tooth fairy, I get to keep my money HAHAH!
..of course that could change when the next one comes out.

RE: Tooth Fairy Help!
She took it all in stride my husband said. She shrugged her shoulders and said "the tooth fairy musn't leave money if you lose the the tooth." No big deal I guess, although she is still sleeping with that original $2 under her pillow.
